I Like Purple and Other Food Adventures: A Taste Test

I like purple, so cheers! As I was walking down the street, I stumbled upon a colorful array of snacks that caught my eye. The inside had probably red bean paste, which is what it is – I don't know how to describe this. It's like chewy, but not super sweet; still very sweet, though. My mine tastes like grape jelly, really! Yeah, okay, mine isn't doing that; it's kind of hot like a pomegranate-flavored kind of thing, a little bit, but it's really good.

The texture is amazing; I love this – super soft and gel-like, jelly-gummy texture. It's so satisfying to me. Typically, these balls are shaped like, well, balls, filled with minced octopus tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and green onion. The balls are brushed with a similar sauce to Worcestershire and sprinkled with dry seaweed and bonito flakes. Soft, you know? Oh my god, really good! I hope you like octopus; I do too!

Today's the day we're trying all these amazing snacks. The inside is moist and like kind of mushy but in a good way – reminding me of risotto, a little bit. It's definitely playing up the sweet and savory flavors and the creaminess from Japanese mayonnaise really balance that with the Worcestershire tangy sauce. I feel like I was expecting them to be crispier, but I actually really like the soft texture and the sauce on top and all the toppings are amazing – jiggle test! Yeah, it's definitely jiggly similar to regular pancakes.

When emphasis is put on eggs, yolks and whites are separated, with the whites beaten until stiff, then folded into a fluffy batter. Wow, these are really good; I could take this home and get some bacon and some eggs – i actually prefer these over regular pancakes because they're so much fluffier and lighter that I feel like I can eat more than regular pancakes.

I'm like eating air! It's totally fine, you know what? I like about these is that the inside is so fluffy but the top and the bottom are like super crispy. Far from my favorite pancakes; definitely these give my grandma a fight – katsu is usually fried and breaded cutlet a breaded deep-fried pork cutlet sandwich covered in a tangy sauce between two slices of Japanese milk bread.

Katsu from the Japanese word for cutlet, sando derived from the English word sandwich. This is so good! Hola, this is delicious; you can use a snack – I'm gonna eat five of these for dinner, put them in a plastic bag stuff it in my purse. The cutlet is so moist inside and like perfectly crispy – it's saucy flavor is really tangy and cuts all the fat between the cutlet when deep-fried.

This is my favorite; I think these are called taiyaki – yes, I've been to the um ice cream version and it's like this fish with a breaded fish cone with ice cream in it. Every time I try to get my friends to go, they give me weird looks and say they're too weird for words! It is taiyaki; it says that the most common filling is red bean paste made from sweetened azuki beans made using regular pancake or waffle batter poured into a fish shape.

This is a very detailed fish – I don't know how to describe its flavor. It's definitely has like you can tell that it's a bean, but it's in a weird kind of way; it's not too sweet um I could see myself eating this for breakfast. The batter is super crispy and thin which I really like, and then it's stuffed with red bean paste – i think that was one of the best taste tests I've ever been a part of.

Everything was just so different and unique and truthfully like nothing I've ever had before, especially street food wise; here I felt like I was in Japan. The flavors brought me right back to where I was standing on that street corner – it's a very nostalgic thing when you think about the foods, they bring you right back to where you were standing. This was one of the taste tests in which everything that we ate was enjoyable; yes, yes and I've had quite a few of these before.

I just like having them again being that like I tried everything for the first time – i'm really surprised kind of have like a small palette but I'm you know widening it up. It was a good start – everything was pretty good so let us know in the comments down below what you want to see us do next time give this video a thumbs up if you liked it and don't forget to subscribe to Food Network – we'll see you guys next time!
