I've BOUGHT a NEW TVR Griffith!

**The TBR Griffith: A Revolutionary Sports Car**

As I stood in front of the TBR Griffith, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This car was the brainchild of Gordon Murray's new company, TBR, which had spent four years developing this revolutionary sports car. With its sleek design and impressive performance capabilities, it's clear that TBR has created something truly special.

**Design and Features**

One of the first things that struck me about the Griffith was its stunning design. The swooping lines and angular shapes give the car a menacing presence on the road, while the bespoke headlight design adds a touch of sophistication. The daytime running light at the bottom is particularly noteworthy, with a single bulb above it that seems to add an extra layer of depth to the overall design. The air cooling system is cleverly integrated into the front bumper, and the intake duct through the bottom adds to the car's performance credentials.

**Tyres: Avon Tyre Performance**

One of the most interesting aspects of the Griffith is its bespoke tyres, developed specifically for this car by Avon Tire. The two 7/5 tyres at the rear are designed to provide maximum grip and handling, while the front tyres seem to be angled slightly more towards the front of the car. I was impressed by the way the tyre designs work with the rest of the car's bodywork, creating a seamless look that is both functional and stylish.

**Weight and Balance**

As I looked closer at the car, I was struck by its impressive weight distribution. The Griffith has been designed to have a central gravity, which should make it more stable and responsive on the road. This is achieved through careful placement of the engine and other components, as well as clever use of carbon fibre in the construction of the chassis and bodywork.

**The Engine: Cosworth V8**

Under the bonnet, the Griffith boasts an impressive 5-litre V8 engine developed by Cosworth. The engine has been modified slightly to sit lower than it would in a standard Mustang, which should help improve the car's balance and agility on the road. I was fascinated by the carbon fibre trim on top of the engine, which adds a touch of elegance to this already impressive powerplant.

**Racing Potential**

I couldn't resist asking about the Griffith's racing potential, and it seems that TBR has been exploring this possibility with Les Edgar, the man behind the company. A concept car based on the Griffith was showcased at Goodwood earlier in the year, and I had the chance to see it up close. The car seemed to have all the makings of a formidable competitor on the track, with its advanced aerodynamics and powerful engine.

**Conclusion**

As I concluded my time with the TBR Griffith, I couldn't help but feel excited about the future of this revolutionary sports car. With its stunning design, impressive performance capabilities, and innovative features like bespoke tyres, it's clear that TBR has created something truly special. As a reviewer, I'm eager to get behind the wheel and experience the Griffith for myself, and I hope to have the chance to do so soon.

**Special Thanks**

I would like to extend my thanks to Top Cats Racing, who hosted me at their facility earlier in the year and gave me access to the TBR Griffith. Their expertise and knowledge of the car were invaluable, and I appreciate the time they took to share their insights with me. I also want to thank Les Edgar for his time and generosity, which allowed me to see the Griffith up close and learn more about its features and capabilities.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm smee and welcome to a very very special video because we're at the world premiere of the new tvr they're roaring back into action with the unveiling of their new car here at the goodwood revival and not only that i can also announce now that i actually have one of these on order myself that's due in 2019 and i'm going to take you along that storyline too now i've been to the depositors preview before now i've had a glimpse at the car in its prototype state but unveiled here for the first time we are going to see it in all its glory what we know at this point is a naturally aspirated v8 up front rear-wheel drive a six-speed manual gearbox and a car that is really going to be rather fun to drive but this will be our first look at it as well of course as my announcement of a future schmie mobile so i'm looking forward to seeing this the covers will come off les edgar the chairman is here to do the honours let's have a look at what's going on then i'll show you around the new tbr four years ago we bought cpr and they said you know it's not going to be easy i said how hard thank you les has revealed it then the new tbr griffith they've resurrected the griffith name it's a historical traditional name for tbr it's over a decade since their last car so four years working on this in partnership also with gordon murray design and with cospla for the power plant we're gonna take a look now head on in and take a good look around it as best as i can there's a pretty big crowd here for the unveiling but let's get straight to it and show you this new beast here we go then this is the full production ready version of the launch edition for the tbr griffith it's priced at just under 90 000 pounds so very solidly in sports car territory but let's run over some of the headline details and firstly it's developed by tvr in partnership with gordon murray design and also with cosworth for the engine let's talk about that engine up here mid front mounted five liter naturally aspirated v8 500 horsepower now the chassis and tub for the car make it just 1250 kilos 1 250 kilos thanks to a partnership with gordon murray design and the first integration of their new ice stream chassis so steel tubes with carbon panels fitted between them so incredibly light 400 horsepower per ton making it pretty impressive when you consider the price point in terms of design it's very traditional tbr you can look at it straight away and recognize some shapes and styling cues it's a very wide open front the bonnet opens up towards the front end 19-inch wheels at the front 20-inch at the rear but most importantly also six-speed manual gearbox in there so it makes a naturally aspirated engine with rear-wheel drive with manual driver involvement with the ability to turn everything off and the car that i think looks really quite cool it's developed or designed i should say by david c singh at gordon murray design acting between gordon murray design and with tvr to create all the shapes and elements you've got a side exit exhaust out here you've got nice shapes that we'll look at in more detail as we go around it you've got airflow in through the underneath parts of the front headlights again quite cool design subtle but practical it has ground effect as well the previous car to have ground effects was the mclaren mercedes slr and of course the gordon murray name you know from the legendary mclaren f1 as well so quite some history back there let's head round to the rear though because i think the rear looks really quite nice as well around the back is in my opinion the best angle of the car and it's actually quite compact so if you compare the dimensions to a 911 it's 18 centimeters shorter five centimeters lower four centimeters narrower and just look at the way it's designed and if we come straight down here at the very back the scale of that diffuser is crazy so the car has ground effect giving it lots and lots of downpours it'll stick and drive really rather well and by not having the exhaust pipes back here due to their positioning up there on the front fender behind the front wheel front axle it gives a very clean view and you've got this spoiler on the deck lid that's sitting in the raised position but would otherwise head down and sit flush it's about 10 centimeters or so raised up and then as we come around to either side brake lights very cool design as well and again there's aero and airflow out of the car here behind allowing the swelling air from the from the wheels to flow out the back of the car the wheels have this almost twin spoke design but we'll come in close and see that in a little bit more detail in a moment but it's very very clean and smooth in terms of the style and design the roof has slight bubbling to it on each side above the driver and passengers heads which gives a nice shape as well design wise i think it's a very all-round package front to back it looks rather remarkably clean and well integrated and that's just from the outside and this color is of course great as well anyway let's head on to the stand and get a closer look up on the stand then let's come around a little bit more closely and i'm going to start inside the rear window here actually the griffith badge on the deck it's actually quite a large piece of glass back there for the window but the color under the lights here the candy apple red volcano red this pearlescent multi-layer paintwork it's beautiful look at this as a specification and let's just get a quick glimpse at the interior i'll come and show you this again in a little bit more detail but very futuristic very nicely designed and it looks very open the amount of glass is really quite impressive you've probably got quite good visibility driving in the car if i come down here to the side the gordon murray design emblem being worn on the flanks behind this aerodynamic side skirt with the exhaust towards the front but coming further forwards just for the moment a griffith emblem worn on the sides that side exit exhaust pipe that we heard briefly earlier very very cool sound and at the moment the bonnet is open so pivoted around the front edge of the car always cool to have that on cars but let's come in and have a quick glance here at the cosworth 5 litre naturally aspirated v8 so an engine developed on top of the block from a ford mustang familiar engine but now with 500 horsepower rather than the lower 400s found before now also these vents i noticed some cooling in towards the car the exhaust perhaps which are obviously located down there 50 50 weight distribution by having the engine placement up here i rather like this wheel design so the 19 inches at the front with the ap racing steel brakes you can see through and then 20 inch wheels towards the rear traditional tbr's have the button to open the doors on the underside of the mirrors i haven't seen if it's there on this car but let's glance inside here and have a little look at the interior of the car and the first thing is it's really cool at this price point to have those full digital displays i'll go around to the driver's side to see that a little bit more but you've got the gear stick mounted for driver focus where it should be some very supportive looking seats with harnesses notice that this car is physically four-point harnesses inside oh there we go door open thank you very much have a proper look at the inside over the tbr griffith side step this glance around it's very very futuristic see through the back there a little bit of storage you've got just through here but the buttons and the way they're located around the driver's side and we'll have to head around and show you in more detail with the central console and navigation system super futuristic but also very traditional with tvr right you can see how it parks back and pays tribute to the older cars very in keeping with their design structure we look through a lovely view straight through there as well just coming around to the driver's side quickly have a look at the display much larger digital display that you'd normally find with quick access buttons here you've got traction control the sport mode full battery power kill as well on this side and the wing on the other side the start button as well and then one third button i'm not entirely sure that's happening there we go the door is open i actually have a proper look in here at the driver's side at the steering wheel alcantara steering wheel center strike up at the top as well very focused small wheel all about the drive naturally and this is all built around the ice stream tub so the steel tubes with carbon panels between them that keep the weights really really low the handbrake down there as well fly off handbrake i noticed no digital or electronic handbrake in here but the digital display the driver's screen is really quite nice almost fighter jet aircraft style air vents as well so it's keyless center for the key on the side it's not responding but start button you can see through the wheel towards the other side there the interior is really futuristic really futuristic let's come across very very nicely overall so let's head towards the back wing sitting in its raised position go down flush working of course with everything down here where you can see crazy crazy work through the fins on the back of this diffuser the way you can see through it actually as well it's hard to see through the darkness in here but you can actually see quite far through and then underneath you can see the way the ground effect works fins running down the car with downforce and stability because this car goes over 200 miles per hour 462 miles per hour 100 kilometers an hour is sub 4 seconds it is a quick quick machine we can head back to the front as well meander through this crowd slightly to show you a little bit more of the headlight design so bespoke besides the headlights the daytime running light at the bottom with a single bulb above the way this swoop integrates the air cooling the intake duct through the bottom as well and then continuing around towards the front a little bit more we've got a very large opening here for the cooling through and quite a nice shape i'd say overall it gives a lot of presence now where you're going to put a number plate here is a little bit harder maybe it will mount somewhere inside this but it's actually angled towards the front and then you've got the black splitter down at the bottom just to give it a little bit more of a lower presence positioning wearing a tbr wallet badge proudly so what else can we talk about tyres specially developed avon tyre new performance compounds specific for this car it's two seven fives at the rear i can't quite see the second i like the way the designs and shapes work this line for example that comes all the way around the back in fact the weight the whole way the rear end swoops down and almost closes up it shows that compact dimension the scale quite well so as let's say a depositor i am certainly it looks great you can see those portions of the elongated front bonnet but it sits very low upon it in fact the whole car looks like it's sitting quite low at the arches which is nice gives it a good finish speeds back towards the front actually it's very very busy here but the color it's remarkable how they've achieved this they've come with a car yes they've worked on it for four years but to introduce this in what is effectively a new company as the first outing is really something very impressive it's very connected it seamlessly works through as one design it fits together very neatly the dashboard and navigation system are running a little demonstration so you can see the rev counter and speedometer doing its thing over there it's quite a unique design they've got set up for that the temperature gauges on each side and no doubt you can configure it and show other information as well but heading up towards the top speed at 200 miles an hour there breaking down it's quite nice and then over on the entertainment system there you can see the navigation system as well which i believe has apple carplay and android auto functionality this is a sample of gordon murray's ice stream chassis so you've got the steel structure with the carbon panels that paint it but you can see some of the carbon weave through that that make up the very lightweight element of the chassis and tub of the car and what help it to keep such a reduced weight then here we can take a closer look at that cosworth five liter v8 lump with the carbon fiber trim on the top of it as well but it's been modified slightly to make it sit lower than it does in the mustang allowing the car to have a central gravity of course slightly better for driving as well you can see a little bit around there then back here we have a potential racing delivery for a car and this was the concept body mold for tbr griffith back when it had no name and we went to a preview as depositors got to see a little bit more about it but maybe there's some racing in the future like in the days of the past and les edgar himself as a man with some racing interests in his history so be interesting to see what they do there but this is quite an exciting day for me the first look in detail and on camera on the video of the new tbr griffith the future schmidt in the car i am very excited to share the adventure and journey to in the future so it's a big thanks also to top cats racing who i visited before and filmed before who have been involved in my car involved in my future car so i'll put that link down below as well check them out really appreciate it they work on tbrs but it's a popular car here at the goodwood revival for very good reason tvr are back and doing it with style your new griffith is going to be quite a
