LGR - Thrifts [Ep.22] After Dark

You know, one thing that I've never done is go thrifting at night, so I figure now is the time. Christmas. That doesn't make much sense at all, but that's what I'm doing so welcome to thrift after dark. Let's go thrifting.

First up is a Goodwill, because of course it is. Just because it's night doesn't mean Goodwills don't exist. Inside a glass case out front behind all these bikes and scooters and stuff there's a copy of Myst III: Exile in the box. Already have it, don't need it, but it's still something I approve of seeing.

Ah, what is this? Some sort of projector here. I really like this design. Not something I would ever use, probably, but man, feels like this thing is made of iron. Quite a few pieces of AV equipment in here. Some really neat old CD players. I like this one from Magnavox, and then this other one up here.

This is just even cooler. I love this style of Japanese design from back then. Look at this giant play button and stop button and these little switches for the left and right audio channels. This is just so cool, the faders. Over near the giant, stuffed horse section are yet more electronics, AV stuff, and things that I kind of like looking at but can't see myself ever buying. That's okay, I just like coming by at night and feeling it up.

Something else to feel up over here, a very nice example of a Hewlett Packard 10B business calculator. This is a little scientific calculator and everything, and it's only two dollars, and these things actually go for something like 25 or something. Plus, it's just a neat little example and comes in the case, I am absolutely getting this.

Oh my God. Junk, junk, lots of junk and wow. Like the epitome of junk. It's a piece of foam for five dollars. Assume there used to be something in there, but still. Well, this isn't junk. At least not to me. This is a five and a quarter-inch floppy disc holder by Computer Mate, and look at this. It's wood grain. I don't know if it's real wood, but it's like particle board, and it's got a lovely wood-grain finish, very nice insides.

I am getting this thing. Happened across another floppy disc case over here. And you know, Goodwill's policy, at least as far as I know, is to throw away the floppy discs that are in here. That always makes me sad, but this made me even more sad because they actually missed this one. It was kind of the same color as the casing.

It's freaking Doom. The GT Software, I guess, shareware release, it looks like. Just imagine the stuff they threw away all the time, I can hardly bear to think about it. Puzzles and board game time, and I found this one that's actually kind of intriguing to me for some reason. The Wheel of Fortune board game? You know, it's probably just a crappy word game, but it's the fact that it has the '80s-style Wheel of Fortune setup in the background there with the letters and everything.

It really intrigues me, and if I were slightly weaker willpower, then I would definitely get this. But I'll pass on it for now. On the other hand, I won't be passing on this because I'm a sucker for big box PC games even if it's Hoyle Card Games, the 2003 edition from Sierra. You know, I have kind of a thing for card games. Definitely getting this.

Onto another Goodwill. My favorite Goodwill, as of late, and it looks even more enticing at night, I've got to say. Looking inside of its glass case and there's quite a bunch of original Xbox games and some random PS2 stuff. Nothing really of interest, DVDs and whatnot but. Over in the VHSs and I found something distinctly not a VHS. This is a Betamax tape and it's Christmas, so I figured I'd look at it. Band Aid something.

Itweighs like half a pound. But it looks neat. Almost cool, almost. All right, onto another Goodwill. My former favorite Goodwill, which looks quite abit different at night. And on the inside, it'sfull of Christmas junk.Like a very broad-shouldered,tiny-headed Santa Clauswith a creepy face. And the mother lode of terribleugly Christmas sweaters.I mean, holy nuts, lookat all these things. These are...You ever need an ugly sweaterfor an ugly sweater partythen don't go to get oneof those kits or whateverfrom Target, those are dumb.Just go to Goodwilland get the real thing.Ah but man, this time of year this placeis just where every great aunt's houseof Christmas crap just came to die.I mean, it's all laid out right here.Every tchotchke and uglydecoration from Christmasthe last 40 years is boundto be in here somewhere. And then there's all of theseused Christmas trees, I mean-just like \"We don'tneed Christmas trees anymore.\"Here, give it to Goodwill.\" Alot of people do, apparently.Whoa, okay now this is substantial.Look at this giant, inflatable reindeer thing.I mean, holy crap, it's-I've got to touch it.Finally, one of these complete in the box. This is a Sony Mavica digital camera.Really early digital camerathat uses three and ahalf inch floppy discsto store your pictures insteadof memory cards or anything.10 bucks, complete in box. This is it.This is the one. I'm getting it.Quite a few interesting games over here. Some of which I didn't have.World of Conflict, Ihave played this before, but I've never actually owned a box copyso, yes, I am going to pick that one up.It's a really neat littlereal-time strategy game. There's also The Orange Box for the PCin the actual orange box. This is neat. Already have it.Those codes are probablyalready used anyway, but still, I don't seethis very often for PC.And then down below that isMiss Spider's Tea Partyfor the Playstation one, still sealedbut it's in the security casethingy for Dollar Generaland that a lot of retailstores had back then. They took this off whenever you bought it.So did somebody stealthis and then it justended up at Goodwill?I guess. And man, talk about youraudio and video equipment.Finding this kind of stuffat this Goodwill run.Eight track player.Really cool old Solid State stuffand General Electricradios and audio receiversand stereo eight track players.Electrophonic and Realistic branded stuff. It's just, man, these things are awesome.I'm so tempted to grab someof them but I don't knowwhat I would do with them like at all.I don't even know if they work. This thing, look at this. This is a Bosch power box. It's like a unbreakable stereo system. This thing is ridiculous, industrial strength. You could throw this thing off a mountainand it would be fine. There's even some stufffrom Heathkit here today.I mean, some guy was allinto scientific equipmentand like audio stuffand just unloaded, man, because it's all here at once. It's a color bar and dot generator.Another one of thesethings, which I already gotquite a few episodes ago. This is a Roland CS-10stereo micro monitor. It's like speakers for your PC.I got a Packard Bell one, same thing. But it's crazy to see anotherone here at the same Goodwill. And then, below here isanother Heathkit item.An oscilloscope model 10-4560.Didn't seem to work, I did try it outand for 50 bucks I didn'twant to risk taking it homeand just never beingable to get it working.I would love to have anoscilloscope, though.Especially an older one like this. Some pretty hefty oldspeakers down here, too. These are kind of impressive.I just like the knobsand these metal switches. It feels like almost quality, you know? Almost. And, holy chestnuts,it's a Christmas miracle. They started acceptingand selling CRT TVs again. They stopped doing this backin April or May of this yearand, well, they're back forwhatever reason so that's cool.Looking over into magazinesand such and whoa, Diablo II.10 bucks. That's a nicefind, but what is this?Somebody wrote on theprice sticker \"LGR Rules\".Is somebody going around stalking me?I don't know if I shouldbe flattered or creeped outbut whatever.Thumbs up, random LGR fan.Right around the corner in the books. This is not a book. This is Championship Chess,an Expert Software game, and I'm a sucker for these thingsso I'm absolutely getting this one.Especially since it's sealed. Here's a Christmas giftfrom years ago that I hadand I never finished it: thePuzz3D Empire State Building.Supposed to be over three foot tall.I got to like six inchestall and then I gave up.This is way too hard to puttogether with all those windowsthat look identical but, memories, man. And, my apologies, but I got too lazyand this took forever to put together,so I don't have an overview of everythingthat I bought this timebut I do have some footage of pine cones. There's a lot of pine cones. This is too many pine conesand it makes no sense to me,so I hope this is aworth while substitution. And that's it for episode22 of LGR Thrifts.Little bit of Christmas, little bit of darkness, and a little bit of Donald Trump.Hey, you know I just realizedthat was at the same storethat I did the auctionfor Donald Trump's haira few episodes ago.I guess, maybe that'sjust a Donald Trump store. That's kind of weird and kind of creepy.I'm not going back there. That's all for this one. Thanks for watching and such. And also, thanks forsending in your pictures. Here are pictures of your viewerfinds for this time aroundand excellent stuff as always.Keep sending them my wayand I'll keep putting themat the end of the episodes. And, as always, I'm gettingthese episodes out as soonas I can but it takes a while sometimesto get enough footage for a single one.Hopefully, this one was worth it, thoughand thank you for watching.\n"
