Apple AirPods Review (3 Months Later) - A $160 Joke

The AirPods: Are They Worth $160?

As I reflect on my experience with the AirPods, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about their value. When they were first announced, I couldn't help but make fun of them, and the jokes persisted for a while. However, once people started using them and actually enjoying them, the jokes died down, and I began to wonder if the AirPods are truly worth $160.

Unboxing and Presentation

When you unbox the AirPods, you're presented with a clean, typical Apple design box that looks exactly like all other Apple products. Inside the box, you'll find the AirPods case, a small, compact charging case that's designed to hold both earbuds. You'll also find an additional lightning cable, which can come in handy if you need to replace it.

The initial pairing process is incredibly easy and straightforward. When you connect the AirPods to your iPhone for the first time, you simply open up the case, and a pop-up window appears on your screen inviting you to pair them with your device. You click "Connect," and voilà! The AirPods are instantly paired with your phone.

The Apple W1 Chip: A Game-Changer

One of the standout features of the AirPods is the Apple W1 chip, which allows for seamless pairing with any device that has the same Apple ID associated with it. This means that I can connect my AirPods to multiple devices at once, including my iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Mac, without having to manually pair each one individually.

The W1 chip also enables the AirPods to determine whether they're in your ear or not. If you take an AirPod out of your ear or if it falls out, the music pauses automatically, and when you put it back in your ear, the music starts playing right where you left off. This feature is incredibly convenient and ensures that you never miss a beat.

Another impressive feature of the W1 chip is its ability to activate Siri with a simple double tap on one of the AirPods. Additionally, the chip can detect when you're talking and optimize audio quality accordingly, allowing for clear and crisp sound even in noisy environments.

The Case: A Masterclass in Design

The AirPods case itself is an exercise in design perfection. With its full complement of magnets, it keeps your earbuds snugly in place, even when the top is open. This ensures that your AirPods stay secure and protected from dust, dirt, and other debris.

Sound Quality: Improved, but Not Revolutionary

In terms of sound quality, the AirPods improve on the standard Apple EarPods but don't quite reach the same level as more premium earbuds. The sound is clear and crisp, but it lacks a certain depth and richness that I've come to expect from high-end earbuds.

Call Quality: Excellent

However, when it comes to call quality, the AirPods shine. The audio is crystal-clear, and I can easily hear my fellow caller on the other end of the line. This feature has become especially useful for me, as I often find myself talking on the phone while cooking or walking the dog outside.

Ease-of-Use: A Must-Have Feature

One of the most significant advantages of the AirPods is their ease of use. With a simple double tap, you can answer or hang up a call, which has become an essential feature for me. This convenience has made a huge difference in my daily life, allowing me to multitask and stay productive on the go.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I believe that the AirPods are well worth the $160 price tag. While they may not be perfect – their design could have been tweaked for better fit in the ears, and their audio quality could have been improved – they offer a level of convenience and ease-of-use that's hard to find with other truly wireless headphones.

If you're an iPhone user who hates wires and is willing to compromise on audio quality, I highly recommend giving the AirPods a try. They've become an indispensable part of my daily routine, making it easy for me to stay connected and productive on the go.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthese are the air paws apples first jab at truly wireless headphones well I was cool to make fun of them when they were first announced the jokes died down a bit once people actually started using them and liking them but still I begs the question are the air pods of joke or are they actually worth 160 dollars what's up guys my name is Brandon and I've been using the air paws for a few months now so I figured it's time to make a review unless you guys know if they're worth it or not so let's start with the unboxing presentation you have your clean typical apple design box when you open it up you're presented with these dental floss tic-tac box whatever you want to call it looking case right away and also in the box is an additional lightning cable which can definitely come in handy if you are in need of a replacement for your iPhone connecting your air pods to the iPhone for the first time will be the easiest bluetooth pairing you've ever experienced and Apple's new w1 chip is to thank for that so when you connect these to your phone you literally just open up the air pods case and you'll be presented with a pop up on your iPhone you simply hit connect and that's it you're done they are possible to work on Android and other devices that just won't connect as easily now about that w1 chip so the first thing to know about this ship is that it allows for easy pairing to any device with the same Apple ID associated with it so since I have multiple iPhones iPads iPods Macs the air pops connected them instantaneously since I have these same Apple ID associated with every one of those devices the w1 chip also allows the air pods to determine whether or not they're in your ear and when you take one out or one just falls out the music pauses automatically and when you put it back in your ear the music starts playing right where you left off which is just awesome and that's not all the chip also allows you to activate Siri with a simple double tap on one of the air pods it can also detect when you're talking and best of all the w-want rip is optimized for low power can assumption this allows us to get roughly five hours of music playback per full charge and my time using them they definitely last a long time I haven't timed anything but they last a good minute when you put the air pods in the case it charges them up and you get an additional three hours of battery life from just 15 minutes of charging so yeah you rarely have to worry about them dying I go weeks without charging the cage which is definitely nice especially if you travel a lot back to the w1 chips tapping on the air positive activate theory was a pretty cool feature when I first got the air pause but I've spent change that setting so that when I double tap on an air pod it pauses the song I'm listening to and the reason for that is because I just listened to music more than I make phone calls or ask Siri questions so it's really nice that you have the option to change those settings also in the settings you can disable the automatic ear detection and choose which air pod you want the microphone active on one thing I wish you could do with the air pods is change songs without the need of Siri or your iPhone physically being there because as am L the only way to skip to the next track is by doing so on your iPhone or asking Siri to skip the next song which can be obviously very time-consuming and very annoying now the air paws are a one-size-fits-all so if your ears don't like the traditional wired ear paws you may not want to buy the air pods because they fit nearly the same not identical but nearly but luckily for me they fit my ears perfectly and don't fall out unless I force them out i've run with them bike with them and even changed clothes with them and they stayed in 100% of the time but again this is going to completely depend on the shape of your ears and the fit a lot of people also tend to think you look weird when you're wearing air pods but i don't think you look that weird i mean the only way i think it'd look weird is to see i don't fit your ears and they like to stick out like this there's something crazy but other than that they just don't look weird i think people in public wearing them and they then look you know it's pretty discreet I didn't look crazy they didn't look like an alien they just looked like a normal person with headphones you know it's pretty discreet but again it's just going to depend on if they fit your ears and they don't stick out like fit another common concern with the air paws is losing them and I can see why people would poke fun of them for that but I've actually never even come close to losing an air pot the main reason is because once you take them out of your ears the only place you want to put them is in the case so unless they fall out while you have them in your ear or your pet gets ahold of one they seem pretty tough to lose track Oh the case itself is amazing it's full of magnets and keeps your ear pods snug in the case even when the top is open as far as the sound quality goes the air paws improve on the ear pods and the overall star quality is good just not great what really makes these things worth it though is the call quality and the ease-of-use the quality for phone calls is excellent and it allows you to easily multitask while talking on the phone I find myself always talking on the phone while cooking or walking the dog outside is something I could have never done efficiently without the air pods answering and hanging up a phone call can be achieved by a simple DoubleTap on an air pod overall in my opinion the air pounds are great I mean the design could have been tweaked a little bit to give a better fit in the ears it could have been an added gesture for skipping tracks and it could have packed more of a punch in the audio quality Department but aside from that I love the air pod I use them every single day when working in the house and it makes daily tasks a lot easier when I don't have to worry about carrying an iPhone with me or dealing with wires and when compared to other truly wireless headphones on the market I think they're definitely worth $160 price tag now they aren't a must-have by any means but if you have an iPhone 7 you hate wires and you don't mind mediocre audio quality you will be satisfied with the air pause however if you're more of an audiophile and you don't mind some wires to be sex or the Jaybirds maybe a better pair of headphones for you let me know if you
