The 8 Series will be available with just two engines to start: a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 316 horsepower, and a 4.4-liter V8 petrol with 523 horsepower. However, an M8 version is eventually planned for the range, with 600 horsepower. The 8 Series has been designed to be fast and fun to drive, with BMW's latest adaptive suspension that automatically adjusts hundreds of times each second to ensure the car has as much grip as possible. And if you fit the optional anti-roll system, the car's body should barely lean as you fly through the corners at high speed.

One thing worth noting is that the 8 Series may not be the most practical car for everyday driving – it has a couple of rear seats, but they're probably best used as extra storage or folded down to increase boot space.
