**A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Documenting George Clinton**
We are thrilled to share with you our experience on the John Linen Bus, where we documented the life and legacy of music icon George Clinton. The bus is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Canon's Cinema Series cameras, which allowed us to capture stunning footage and high-quality audio.
The team has been working tirelessly to bring this project to life, and it's been an absolute pleasure to have them on board. We've had the opportunity to work with some of the best equipment in the industry, including the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, which is a staple from the "Holy Trinity" of lenses. Our team member was handholding this lens yesterday, and it's clear that it's a favorite among professionals.
We shot on location in Austin, capturing iconic shots of the city's skyline and bustling streets. The 1DX Mark II with a 24-105 F4 lens worked seamlessly for our needs, and we're excited to see how the footage will come together. Our team is passionate about creating a documentary that not only showcases George Clinton's life but also explores the themes of creativity, perseverance, and innovation.
One of the unique aspects of this project is its modular approach. By shooting on location and using a variety of cameras, we can easily swap out shots and adjust the pacing to suit the music and narrative. This allows us to make changes on the fly and ensure that the final product flows smoothly.
We've also been experimenting with different editing techniques and software, including Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer. Our team has been working closely together to refine their skills and push the boundaries of what's possible in documentary filmmaking.
As we near the end of our project, we're excited to share some behind-the-scenes footage and insights into the creative process. We've had the privilege of working with an amazing team of students who are passionate about storytelling and eager to learn. From selecting the underlying song to editing the final cut, every aspect of this project has been a collaborative effort.
In fact, our team is currently in the midst of editing, with one student taking on the role of editor for the piece. We're thrilled to see their creative vision come to life and can't wait to share the finished product with you. Stay tuned for more updates from the John Linen Bus, and be sure to check out their YouTube channel for behind-the-scenes content and sneak peeks at student projects.
**A Special Thank You**
We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, Canon, for providing us with the equipment and expertise we need to bring this project to life. Your support means the world to us, and we're grateful for the opportunity to work with such a talented team of professionals.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou're the happiest guy I've seen in my enti whole life dude straight up most if not all the gear that's on the bus here is been given to us by our sponsors so that allows us to give the students a much more professional experience especially with some of the new cam cameras that we've got from Canon we have their Cinema Series right now so we use some of those to film The the short documentary that we're working on right now so I think uh it's really a great experience for all of us we have a bunch of 24s 50s 85s C lenses Canon yeah it's pretty sweet yesterday I was using the 7200 which I'm a big fan of it's staple lens from the Holy Trinity 70 to 200 mhm the c00 Mark II with a 7200 on it um what's the verdict really great lens and you were hand holding a lot yesterday yes yeah you were taking advantage of that is it's really good in that one so yesterday I was shooting on the 1dc with the 24 to 105 F4 and it works really well I mean it's great so you have to consider what great documentary hasn't been made by kind of smoing your way on the top floor of a building for an awesome Skyline shot so we're out again today back on 6th Street to get some more Austin tight sequences here n look at that come on the students are inside right now working on their final edit and it's going to be interesting to talk to them about the creative process and what has changed since pre-production to where they are now yeah I think it's going to change quite a bit um I think we're going to end up rearranging a lot of things just because of the music that we're picking and everything like that just so that it flows more the reason why it's it's modular is so we can move it around cuz obviously things are always going to change and even as we're making it we're like oh actually this shot is not going to line up as as good as we thought it was going to be so getting it out to the real world as soon as possible like we have in our wall here allows us to do that and allows us to physically see what's happening as far as the shots go they're looking amazing uh we got some cool stuff establishing Austin we got the people within Austin you know we tried to basically establish the scene and the ex Exposition the characters at play and everything that we're going to be utilizing to tell the story that we want to tell from here the kids are actually going to hop into this seat and take the captain's chair and start editing cuz we want them to be always as Hands-On as possible um but yeah everything's it's going really really well they just did a huge uh actually really big part of the the piece which is to select the underlying song the underlying track which is pretty much the pace and the feel and the vibe of the entire piece that allows you to you know you're going to raise the music up which going it's going to drive the footage and the scenery more or whatever the subject of the footage is then you drop that audio down or that music down and then whoever is speaking our narrative which in this case is going to be George Clinton you know then that is going to take Center Stage and those two things kind of bounce back and forth and that's one of the cool things about the johnan bus is we're not coming at this just from film we're not coming at this just from audio or music or any one medium the bus is multimedia we asked them when we first sat down they like what are we going to start off with and we decided the most important part at the beginning is to uh decide that song decide that that foundation and we just got that done so now it's their turn they're going to edit David's going to edit he's our basically raised his hand first for the editor position so we got it I volunteered for the Royal Rumble but they didn't think that was a good idea um being that it's the last day yeah I guess no one should go home injured on the bus that's not what we want them to take away no contusions no contusions lacerations um loss of limb loss of life is usually not in our experience for the bus oh yeah more round oh yeah five oh yeah Bo boom y'all laters that about wraps it up guys I want to give a special thanks once again to Canon for bringing me down here and to these awesome folks on the John linen bus they have a YouTube channel I will put it in the show description so make sure you go subscribe to them you can see some of the student projects and you can watch the Final Cut of this project once it is live so anyway once again guys this has been an amazing trip and extra
