Android Setup Battle - September 2016

**The First-Ever Episode of "The Perfect Setup Battle" – Android Style**

Hello everyone! Today marks the debut of a brand-new series called *The Perfect Setup Battle* – an exciting competition where Android enthusiasts showcase their meticulously crafted phone setups. If you’re unfamiliar with what a “perfect setup battle” entails, don’t worry; there’s a video link in the description below that will give you a detailed history and explain what to expect in this series.

For those who prefer iOS over Android, fear not – there’s also a *Perfect Setup Battle* for jailbreak setups. All the necessary information about how to participate and submit your setup can be found in the links provided in the description box below.

**How It Works**

In today’s episode, five unique Android setups will go head-to-head. You, the viewers, get to choose the winner by leaving a comment below with the hashtag of the person you want to win. A week from today, I’ll select one winner from the comments and announce their victory on my social media pages, including Twitter and Instagram. Be sure to follow me there if you haven’t already!

Without further ado, let’s dive into the battle and meet our five contestants: Denim Onon Rahi, Tyler Sue Graham, Narayana Sori, Quiz, and Michael King.

---

### **Setup 1 – Denim Onon Rahi**

The first setup belongs to Denim Onon Rahi. His home screen immediately captures attention with a cozy fireplace wallpaper that sets a warm and inviting tone. He’s using this setup on a Samsung Galaxy S6, powered by Nova Launcher Pro.

The focus of his home screen is clearly the widget at the top, crafted with Focus Super Widget. The layout is clean and well-organized, with an 8x7 grid of icons from Gleam I Compact. Everything flows seamlessly, making it feel functional and visually appealing. At the bottom, a circular button leads to the app drawer, which houses his main six applications in the center, with additional apps on a second page that includes his music player and remote control.

Denim’s calendar widget, Month Calendar Widget, is one of my favorites due to its customizable design. His settings are themed using Samsung’s My New Black Material Theme, and he even customized his Google Keyboard with a black theme for consistency. Overall, this setup feels warm, functional, and clutter-free. If you love Denim’s cozy campfire vibe, be sure to hashtag #DenimOnonRahi in the comments!

---

### **Setup 2 – Tyler Sue Graham**

Next up is Tyler Sue Graham, who submitted his setup for both an LG G4 and a Note 4. He maintains consistency across both devices, which is impressive. The wallpaper on his lock screen exudes warmth and sets a cozy tone, much like Denim’s setup.

Tyler uses Sunrise Calendar with themes from Cold Fusion and Power Toggle. His lock screen features the time, date, and day of the week, along with notifications for missed calls and messages – but instead of numerical values, he displays them in written form, which adds a touch of uniqueness.

On his home screen, Tyler opts for a 10x10 grid on the lock screen and a 12x12 grid on the main screen. He uses the Tiny White icon pack, which places icons along the right side of the device instead of the traditional bottom placement. This layout gives his setup a clean, modern feel that complements the name of his submission: *Clean Cut*.

Tyler’s attention to detail and consistent theming across devices make this a standout setup. If you’re rooting for Tyler, be sure to hashtag #TylerSueGraham in the comments!

---

### **Setup 3 – Narayana Sori**

The third contestant is Narayana Sori, who uses her Moto G4 with Nova Launcher. Her home screen features a 6x6 grid and the Sunshine icon pack. The layout is visually stunning, with a circular arrangement of frequently used icons and folders centered around Google Search at the top.

While her lock screen has a stock appearance, her home screen is anything but ordinary. It feels polished and well-thought-out, matching the elegance of her setup name. Narayana’s ability to balance functionality and aesthetics makes this setup truly special.

If you’re impressed by Narayana’s work, be sure to hashtag #NarayanaSori in the comments!

---

### **Setup 4 – Quiz and Brian Seok**

The fourth setup is from Quiz and Brian Seok. This one runs on a Galaxy S5, customized with Nova Launcher, Why Icons, and Marshmallow Icon Pack. The widgets are designed with Super Pro, featuring themes from Stun Super.

What sets this setup apart is its clean flow and lack of clutter. From the battery widget at the top to the weather app below, everything is placed thoughtfully for easy access. The wallpaper theme, *Outrace Iam 13*, complements the overall design perfectly, and the custom navigation buttons add a unique touch.

If you admire Quiz and Brian’s setup for its simplicity and functionality, be sure to hashtag #QuizAndBrianSeok in the comments!

---

### **Setup 5 – Michael King**

Finally, we have Michael King’s submission. While he didn’t provide his device model or setup name, his work speaks for itself. He uses Nova Launcher with the Desaturate icon pack and a widget called Unique For Zuper. His lock screen is designed with Snap Lock.

What grabs attention here is the unique pairing of his icon pack and wallpaper, which creates a visually striking home screen. The layout is clean, with frequently used apps placed at the bottom for quick access. The search bar theme adds a finishing touch to an already impressive setup.

If you’re captivated by Michael’s design, be sure to hashtag #MichaelKing in the comments!

here and let's go ahead and take a look at the first one the first one is from denna Hammond rahid and I gotta say I really loved his setup is something about that fireplace as the wallpaper that's just kind of setting everything off and giving you a nice cozy laid back type of field so starting with the device that he's using he's running this on his samsung galaxy s6 and he's running Nova Launcher pro here to get this particular set up and looked at he has going so to me the focus of his home screen I would say is probably his widget and that was done with focus super widget and I really liked the way he placed everything with the widget being at the top and then an 8 by 7 grid for his icons which are from the gleam I compact I feel like you matched everything up really well here everything that I'm seeing just flows really good together it kind of makes me want to go roast some marshmallows and make a s'more or something but nonetheless I'm really feeling the look he has here and I'm guessing that circle at the bottom that we're seeing is going to take us to his app drawer which is really nice because it appears that he has his main six applications here in the center and then everything else can be accessed via the app drawer but actually he has a second page of things which includes his music player and his remote so very unique they are really like that I'm sure that's pretty useful and his playlist of music is beneath that so it's a very functional setup pretty much giving him access to what he needs from right here now moving on to another page he has a calendar featured here and that was done with the widget known as month calendar widget this is one of my favorite widgets actually I love the way it looks you can truly customize the look of your calendar and I like the theme that he chose for his calendar to go his setup you also notice beneath that he has some applications that he can quickly access when he needs and his settings were also themed and that was done with the Samsung theme known as my new black material theme so overall everything is looking really good here oh one last thing I almost forgot to mention his keyboard his keyboard was customized with Google keyboard and he used the black theme so very nice setup with this black and white that he has going on the cozy feel of the campfire and everything I don't personally have any suggestions nothing looks too cluttered and everything looks good so if you want Dana moanin to win be sure to hashtag his name down below in the comment section so moving on to our second setup we have this one submitted from Tyler sue Graham so he's running this particular set up on his LG g4 and also his note 4 he mentioned that he runs the same theme on both of his phones so that's pretty nice keeping that uniformity when he's jumping from device to device now when you take a look at his lockscreen once again this is one of those just kind of give me this cozy you know warm feeling to me the wallpaper really kind of like sets the mood for these setups once I got my wallpaper I can theme my phone and I don't know it might just be me but I really liked the look that he has going on with his wallpaper so he's running a couple of widget packs here so he's running sunrise calendar you see CW with themes from cold fusion as well as power toggle so I'm looking at his lock screen we got the time we got the date as well as the day of the week and also some notifications in regards to any missed phone calls or missed messages and I like how he did that there so instead of just having a numerical value showing you things that you've missed in regards to your phone calls or your messages you now have it written out instead and I like that because it just looks good now Tyler did provide an explanation of his entire setup and if you want to read his explanation that he provided me I'm going to have a link down below in the description box so you can kind of information regarding how these setups were made that was submitted by the creators of these setups now in reference to the grid that he's running here he's using 10 by 10 on his lock screen and 12 by 12 on his home screen and if you're curious about his icon pack that was done with tiny white icon I don't know about you all but I think is a very good look and unique look with his icons being along the right side of his device instead of the bottom so many times we tend to put our icons at the bottom of our device but I thought this was kind of different that he actually has it on the side instead and I'm really feeling the layout that he has for his folders and how they look everything just looks really clean which I guess matches the name of his setup that he submitted which was clean cut which suits this setup quite well so awesome submission Tyler thank you for participating in this week's episode now the next set up comes in from Nora Jana sori so the particular device she's running this on is her Moto G 4 and she's using Nova Launcher to give her this beautiful setup that we see on her home screen she's using the grid size 6x6 and the icon pack sunshine along with that she also is running RL super collection for her widget her lockscreen has that kind of very stock look which is completely fine with me in that home screen though that homescreen looks gorgeous I really like how she laid her icons out so to add that touch of uniqueness here we have that circular layout to show the icons that are most commonly used with the folder in the center and we also have Google search at the top so I like this villainesses looks really good so thank you Narayana for submitting your setup so the next setup comes from quiz and Brian Seok wisdom did not submit a setup name which is completely fine but this particular setup is being ran on the galaxy s5 so thanks for customized with Nova Launcher and the icon pack that is being brand is why icons as well as marshmallow icon pack now in regards to the widgets that we see that was done with super Pro with the theme from stun super to now if you're curious about the wallpaper they come from a theme known as outrace iam 13 as do the custom navigation buttons but I chose to feature this setup just because it just kind of had a good flow it looks nice it's very clean it's not boggle down with a bunch of things that you don't need just like the other setups is giving you all you need at a glance and you know I'm a fan of unique touches such as the widget that quiz amazed at the top which gives the battery life as well as the date and if an alarm is said so that just looks really nice but the weather right beneath that everything flows really good so like the other setups I'm filling this one as well and if you want quiz them to win hashtag quiz them down below now the last setup comes from Michael King and Michael did not submit a setup name either which is fine Michael also did not submit the device that this is being ran on so please make sure when you submit this that you submit the device that you're running this on but you have Nova Launcher running things with the icon pack known as desaturate and the widget known as unique for zuper and his lockscreen was done with snap lock but I chose to feature this particular setup because when I saw the icon pack and the layout of the home screen I don't know it just kind of grabbed me before I even saw the lockscreen when I saw those things it just pretty much snagged my attention I really liked the icon pack and the way that he matched it up with the wallpaper so it looks really good to me I also like the little search bar with the theme that he's running there for that and the way that he laid out his icons at the bottom like all other setups given the applications that he needs most and his abjure down in the bottom left so yeah those are the setups for this particular episode I hope you all enjoyed it if you have
