**Installing Windows 10 on a Mac via Boot Camp**
To install Windows 10 on a Mac via boot camp, you'll need to meet a few requirements first. You'll need a Mac, and at least 5 gigabytes of free space on your flash drive. Additionally, if you plan to use Windows 10 for more than 30 days, you'll need to buy a license key, which can be purchased directly from Microsoft for $120.
**Step One: Downloading the Windows 10 ISO File**
The first step in installing Windows 10 on your Mac is to download the Windows 10 ISO file. To do this, head over to the Microsoft software download page and choose "Windows 10" from the drop-down menu. Click "Confirm" and then choose your language. You can then choose to download either a 32-bit version or a 64-bit version of Windows 10. We recommend going with a 64-bit version, but if your system is running a 32-bit version, go ahead and select that one instead.
**Step Two: Moving the ISO File to Your Desktop**
Once you've downloaded the Windows 10 ISO file, move it from your downloads folder to your desktop. Make sure no other external drives are plugged in on your Mac to avoid any problems. This step is crucial, as it will ensure that the ISO file is properly recognized by your Mac.
**Step Three: Running Boot Camp Assistant**
Next, run Boot Camp Assistant under Applications > Utilities. You can also quickly search for Boot Camp Assistant using Spotlight. Once you've launched Boot Camp Assistant, select "Continue" and then check all three tasks:
* Create a Windows 8 or later install disk
* Download the latest Windows support from Apple
* Install Windows 8 or later
**Step Four: Selecting the Partition Size**
After selecting the tasks, if you have moved the Windows 10 ISO file to your Mac's desktop, it will automatically be located and selected. However, if you place it elsewhere, you may need to click on "Choose" and locate the file manually as well. For the destination disk, the flash drive will be automatically chosen as the install disk if it's the only flash drive plugged in. Once that's done, hit "Continue" and select a partition size for Windows 10. Windows 10 requires at least 20 gigabytes to install, so make sure you pick the right partition size for your needs. You can't change this later on, so choose wisely.
**Step Five: Installing Windows 10**
After selecting the partition size, click "Install" and it will start partitioning the drive. Your Mac will automatically boot up from the flash drive and start the Windows setup process. If your Mac doesn't boot from the flash drive, just restart it again and hold down the Option key after the boot-up sound, then choose to boot from the flash drive.
**Step Six: Entering Your Product Key**
Once the Installer starts, you'll be prompted to enter your Windows 10 product key. Don't worry if you don't have a key yet; you can skip this part and continue with the install process. If you do have a key, enter it now. After agreeing to Microsoft's Terms & Conditions and confirming what Windows Edition you want to install, select where you want to install Windows. Make sure to select the partition labeled "boot camp", which is where we want to install Windows 10.
**Step Seven: Installing Files and Updates**
After selecting the partition, click "Next" and you should now see Windows installing files and updates. This process should take about 20 minutes or so depending on how beefy your Mac is. Once the installation is complete, your Mac will boot up with Windows 10, and you'll need to go through the normal steps of setting up a new Windows computer.
**Using Boot Camp**
When you first log into Windows, you should see a boot camp installation message pop up. Click "Next" and follow the rest of the installation process. After that, your Mac will reboot with Windows 10. If you don't see the boot camp message pop up, simply open up the flash drive and launch the setup file inside the Boot Camp folder to manually select which OS to run during startup.
**Setting Default Boot Option**
To set which OS to boot into as default, go to the Boot Camp Control Panel. Here, you can choose which OS to display at startup. Hold down the Option key and select which one you want to boot into, then press Enter. This will set your default boot option for future startup sessions.
