Building the Ultimate iPhone X

The Ultimate iPhone X Build: A Creative Challenge with RhinoShield

Hey guys, this is Austin, and welcome back to my channel. Today, I'm excited to share with you an amazing challenge from RhinoShield, a company that I use on my phone every day. They challenged me to do something creative with their new Mod case, and I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to showcase what this incredible product can do.

So, when we talk about a Mod case, most people think of a basic bumper that protects your phone while still leaving the front and back exposed. But, as you'll see later in this article, RhinoShield's new Mod case is capable of so much more than that. With its sleek black frame and white buttons, it's a great option for anyone who wants to add some style to their iPhone X. And, with the addition of a back plate, you can not only protect your phone but also add lenses to enhance your camera capabilities.

One of my favorite features of the RhinoShield Mod case is its ability to attach different lenses to the iPhone. With several options available, including an HD wide-angle lens, this feature takes your photography to a whole new level. When combined with the telephoto camera and normal wide-angle lens on the iPhone X, you get an even wider field of view that's perfect for capturing stunning images. The lenses just screw right onto the Mod case, making it easy to switch between different options. And, once in place, simply open up the camera app and you're ready to go.

The RhinoShield Mod case is not only a great accessory but also a testament to its durability. I put it through some serious abuse – literally! – and it passed with flying colors. According to RhinoShield's claims, this case can protect your iPhone X against an 11-foot drop test, which is no small feat. And, let me tell you, I found out about that the hard way.

But, before we dive into the details of the Mod case, I want to talk about my trusty camera rig. As a vlogger, I need high-quality audio and video to capture every moment of my adventures. That's why I use the Casey Neistat special – a GorillaPod with a tripod mount for a smartphone. Yes, there are many different versions of these cameras out there, but I like this metal one that I've seen under various brand names.

Now, even though this camera rig is top-notch, good video is nothing without good audio. That's why I use the Shure MV88 Lightning microphone, which is a game-changer when it comes to capturing high-quality sound on-the-go. However, there's a small issue with this microphone – the Lightning port is tiny, making it difficult to attach to my iPhone X. To solve this problem, Ken (my co-host) cut up a Lightning dock to make it fit.

But, despite the minor setback, I'm extremely impressed with how well this camera rig works. The video quality is superb, and the audio is crystal clear. And, when you add lenses like those from RhinoShield to your Mod case, you're essentially creating a professional-grade camera setup that's perfect for capturing stunning footage.

Speaking of which, let's talk about gaming on your iPhone X. With the addition of a Bluetooth game controller, such as the SteelSeries Nimbus, you can play games on an HDMI display – like me! While it might seem weird to play games like Minecraft on an iPhone X with a monitor and controller, trust me when I say that it's absolutely amazing. The controller feels just like an Xbox controller, but with some tweaks to accommodate the smaller screen.

So, if you're thinking of building your ultimate iPhone X rig, there are a few things you should consider adding to the mix. First and foremost, a microphone is a must-have for capturing high-quality audio during video shoots. Next, lenses like those from RhinoShield can make a huge difference in your camera capabilities. And finally, if you're feeling adventurous, why not throw some games into the mix?

In conclusion, building an ultimate iPhone X rig is all about creativity and experimentation. With the right accessories and a willingness to push the boundaries of what's possible, you can create a device that's truly unique and tailored to your needs. Whether you're a vlogger, gamer, or just someone who loves experimenting with new tech, I hope this article has inspired you to try something new and push the limits of what's possible with your iPhone X.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enThis video is sponsored by RhinoShield.Hey guys, this is Austin. Here on the channel,we've built some prettyquestionable stuff, but today it's time togive the iPhone X a shot. So, when RhinoShieldchallenged us to do somethinga little creative with their new Mod case,I felt like it seemedlike the natural choice. So, if you guys aren'tfamiliar with RhinoShield,it's what I use on my phone every day. Now, the idea here is that itis a bumper that will protectyour phone while still leavingthe front and back exposed. However, with their new Mod case, you actually can do a lot more than that.I like using the black framewith the white buttons, but you can also add a back plate. Now, not only will thishelp protect your phone, but also will allow you toadd lenses to the iPhone. So, you have a few differentlenses to choose from, but my favorite is the HD wide angle. Now, the idea here is,especially when you're usingthe iPhone X, not only doyou have the telephoto cameraand the normal wide angle, when you put this guy on,it gives you an even wider field of view. The lenses just screw right onand once you get them in place, you can just take off the lens cap,and if you open up the camera, boom! While a lot of lenses can be fairly soft, this actually looks really nice and sharp.Especially when you put it side by sidewith the normal iPhone camera,it makes a big difference. The Mod case can also protect againstsome pretty serious abuse, and I found that out the hardway, as well as on purpose.RhinoShield claims that thiswill protect up to an 11 footdrop test, and uh,this looks like a littlebit more than that. So, (laughs) here goes nothing. This is my iPhone, so Ireally hope it doesn't break.Okay,three,two,one...(crashing)Ohh!Three,two,one...(slow motion whirring)(crashing)Ohh!I don't wanna look.I don't wanna look.I'm gonna look.(laughing)Woo!It's even still recording!Hi Ken.Okay.Oh yeah, totally fine.I wasn't worried or anything. So any good vloggershould know that you needthe Casey Neistat special. So, not only do we have a GorillaPod,but we also have a tripodmount for a smartphone. Now, there are a ton ofdifferent versions of these.I like this metal one, which I've actually seenunder a bunch of different brand names, but I'll make sure to linkthis one into the description. Also, a little pro tip.Even though this has rubber,it actually does make senseto use something like a RhinoShield, because it will scratch your phone. So, now this is looking a lot better. But, good video is nothingwithout good audio. That's where this comes in.So, this is the Shure MV88 andit is a Lightning microphone. So, this should, in theory, sound a lot better thanthe built-in microphone on the iPhone. But, the only problem is,is that the Lightningport on this guy is tiny, which means that we had to improvise.By improvise, I mean Kencut up a Lightning dockto make it actually fit on our phone, because he's talented anddedicated and hates money.I mean, come on, you clicked on buildingthe ultimate iPhone X,did you not think we weregoing to get to this point? So, I think the wider angle cameradefinitely helps for vlogging, but the microphone sounds so much betterthan the built-in iPhone. And I mean, yes, thereare probably slightly morepractical ways ofvlogging from your iPhone, but for something that ifyou wanna carry this around(laughs) in your pock--(laughs) I can't even sayit with a straight face.No one's gonna walk around with this. But, it works.Kind of.All right, so I am nowvlogging from my super cooliPhone X vlog rig.So, you guys can be the judgefor yourself with the quality, but with the wider angle camera, you're getting a littlebit more in the shot.Hopefully, the mic soundspretty good as well. But, say vlogging isn't your thing, but you still wanna buildthe ultimate iPhone.Oh, we're not done yet. This is the WirelessUniversal Foldable Keyboard, and okay, well that's alittle bit of a dirty pouch, but whatever.Ohh...What? (laughs)Wait.(clicking)Ohh! (laughs)Wait, wait. That's actually--Wait, that's a full size keyboard. My Geology 101 report isKen is a reallyhandsome guy.Okay, that's not great. Can we talk about howyou're just using the phone sideways?(laughs) No, we don't have totalk about that at all, Ken.Because...I have a monitor.Hey! (laughs)(laughs) All right.Let's do this.Let's start Tweeting.Hi, my name is Austinand I make bad decisions.(laughs) This is so much fun.I love doing dumb stuff with tech. It's the best.If all that wasn't enough, you can also add aBluetooth game controller, such as the SteelSeries Nimbus.Because you know, whenyou have an HDMI display, you gotta play some games. And, I'm playing Minecrafton an iPhoneusing a game controller and a monitor. Also, why is nothing loading? (laughs)How'd I break Minecraft? That's not--That shouldn't be a thing.Oh, there we go.I've actually gotta saythis does feel like playingMinecraft on anything else. The controller feels good, pretty much just somethinglike an Xbox controller. While for some reasonthe iPhone is displayingin a smaller window, it does work.Should anyone ever actuallyplay games like this?Probably not.Is it fun?Absolutely. So, while some might saythat this isn't the mostpractical setup in the world, but I'm actually prettyimpressed with some of it,most notably the video rig. Now, no you shouldn't probablyuse a Bluetooth keyboardand a controller and an HDMIdisplay with your iPhone, but if you're shooting video, this is actually not a bad way of going.Just add a microphone, and something like these lensesthat go with the RhinoShield Mod casecan make a big difference. So, what would you guys putin your ultimate iPhone X?And no, you can't justsay an Android phone.Let me know in the comments below, and I will catchyou in the next one. (laughs)
