How to Bunny Hop Barspin BMX

**Mastering Bar Spins: Tips and Tricks from a Pro Rider**

To get a feel for the cranks if you're always landing with your back pedal down, it's not going to work outside. You want to make sure your front foot's down pretty much. I mean, you got the motion down, you got this down take it right outside all right so now you guys figured everything out with the indoor bike hopefully you're feeling pretty confident with the whole bar spin thing now it gets a little tricky.

So if you want to go with the half Bar Route, you can do it um we did I don't honestly think it's the best thing in the world cuz you may get stuck only being able to do half bars and it may actually become harder to do full bar spin. You're going to want to hop up about as high as you can Bunny Hop or as high as you can comfortably Bunny Hop keeping your legs straight you want to lean back a little bit kind of pinch the seat with your calves keep it stable and spin them. It's kind of nice with half bar spins you don't really have to let go completely you can kind of pass it off but it gives you that feel of moving the bars and getting out of the way you're not going to hit your knees as long as your legs are straightened back all right.

So I personally don't recommend it. It's kind of pointless, it makes it a little bit harder might make it easier, but they're kind of cool actually to do in games of bikes like half bar truck drivers or 540s I don't know whatever you want to do but it's a neat little thing.

Now we're on to bar spins the real thing. So you're going to want to hop you're going to want to hop high you're going to want to go really fast you're not going to want to fall um you might want to wear you probably should wear Shing guards I normally wear Shing guards a helmet knee pads ankle guards a whole nine yards I'm just lazy now I haven't ridden in like 3 months so we just we're coming out here today just to make a video for you guys.

So, if you're going to do bar spins, get your feet on the pedals hop up level out and the big key thing that I really want to reinforce is that your legs are kind of straight. And you're pinching the seat with your calves having a little bit of a fatter seat or a little bit of a higher seat will really help keep your front end stable and keep it from dropping. You know, some people don't some people do but I think it'll actually make it easier.

So, you're going to want to do what I said pull up level out and throw the bars when you're pinching the seat you're going to want to give it a nice toss probably at the peak of your height and you should catch right about the time that you land. You're not going to catch in the air the first time but it's okay cuz if you pinch a seat then you don't have to worry about like falling on your side or whatever.

Make sure you keep your whip fresh and your hands if they get if they get too uh not good for bars, then you're going to want to hop up again. And that's pretty much it. Hopefully, you guys are feeling confident enough to give bar spins a try. If you have problems feel free to leave a comment I'll try to address them.

**Rider Tips and Tricks**

I find helpful things like pinching your seat, actually doing them overhand so it's really weird and I think it's a little bit harder but I notice that if you like throw them five times before you do it almost always helps you land it. And remember, wear Shing guards, I normally wear Shing guards a helmet knee pads ankle guards a whole nine yards.

**Staying Safe**

I'm just lazy now, I haven't ridden in like 3 months so we're coming out here today just to make a video for you guys so. If you want to do bar spins, you'll probably need some safety gear such as Shing guards and a helmet. And always wear knee pads and ankle guards if possible.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: engo all right hey guys I'm at M this is how to bar spin first I got to get my bike who put this thing up here watch out snow oh no hey this tree smells a little funny good thing I have f breze minty fresh all right so now comes the real stuff you guys got to learn how to bar Spin and I'm going to teach you so some of you guys know me some of you guys don't um this video it's we've been wanting to make it for a long time um some of you guys may have seen we made another how to hot bar spin video a while ago we had no idea how popular it would get it's probably the most popular BMX how a bar spin in the world um and it's awesome cuz it's taught so many of you guys how to bar spin but we feel that the quality of the video and we could add a few tips to it and just make it a lot better so uh that's what this video is hope you guys like it so the absolute first thing you're going to want to know is which way to throw the bars now you can either be right foot forward or left foot forward or if you have really small cranks and it's like a scooter you could have like both feet in the middle but we're not going to worry about people like that so if you're right foot forward like this you're probably going to spin towards your front foot now what that entails is you're going to spin clockwise with your right hand as a guide and your left hand catching the motion for pretty much all people's bar spins is a flick and you bring your hand under to catch it it almost like and slowed down it looks like you're going underneath so if your left foot forward you're going to do the same thing spinning towards your front foot except you're going to throw with your left hand and catch with your right now it's really important that you understand the concept of getting your hand under before you even go start trying hot bar spins bar spins fly out whichever way you want to learn them you're going to want to have that down n a so it's really important to have this bar spin motion down before you even go trying them so one thing you can do that a lot of people like is taking your pedal kind of rocking back a little bit putting it on your knee like this just sitting there and spinning the bars getting the feel for the throw throwing with your hand catching underneath it's really important that you do it and not just like this like you don't want to just have one hand on like yeah that's cool but you land one-handed so when you do it try to catch both hands so that way when you do it in real life you'll catch both hands and you'll land you you may laugh at me but you would imagine the amount of people that're like yeah I got the method down and then they go to do it in real life and they fall and it's like come on all right so now that you guys got the bar spin motion down you're going to want to start doing hot bar spins right wrong don't start throwing them until you're really confident otherwise you're going to get hurt and it's going to suck and you're going to get turned off of the whole entire trick and it's all it's an awesome trick it takes a lot of time it took me almost 2 years to learn now people are Lear them like that because of this little trick that we came up with it's called the indoor bike um you may have seen it in the old video but we're going to show you how to make it now we're going to show you how much it helps for barin why it helps and you know that's the real key to this howto that's why this howto is a little bit longer than others I mean you may have to sit on front of a computer for 7 minutes or however long this video is going to turn out to be but I think it's much more worth then watching a 30second video and getting nothing out of it so hopefully it helps all right guys so this is the infamous indoor bike this is what's key to learning bar spins as you may have saw in my other video or I'll show you now this is like it's like riding a bike except it's indoor without all the risks and you can get a feel for throwing the bar spins at that middle point if you have a problem with your foot lifting up this is where you can correct it or if you're falling off the back or something you can correct it here and make sure that you land always front foot down so what are you going to do with this thing all it is is a bike no chain wheel and then in the dropouts you put whatever balls you can find around your house so you don't damage your floors um yeah that's pretty much it so you can practice your bar spins with this you're going to move back and forward a little bit it's a little weird try not to have anything breakable like a nice TV close to you so yeah it's pretty much just like boom and it's awesome cuz it it helps for everything if you want to learn switch bars and you already know how to do bar spins it helps you get a feeling for that Landing like now I had this ball was inflated but it popped because it's really old so I'm just damaging stuff but uh I don't really care cuz I'm going to show you guys the video so it's it's just nice you get to get a feel for the cranks if you're always Landing like with your back pedal down it's not going to work outside so you want to make sure your front foot's down pretty much it I mean you got the motion down you got this down take it right outside all right so now you guys figured everything out with the indoor bike hopefully you're feeling pretty confident with the whole bar spin thing now it gets a little tricky so if you want to go with the half Bar Route you can do it um we did I don't don't have to worry about like falling on your side or whatever make sure you keep your whip fresh and your hands if it get if they get too uh not good for bars for je two bar spins like I said before the indoor bike's a super good way to hone in on your problems like if your front foot's lifting up you focus on in on it there and not have to worry about falling on your ass a 100 times in the grutty ass sand hate that stuff so yeah you're going to want to do that hopefully you land it I mean if you have problems feel free to leave a comment I'll try to address them but I'm I'm just going to try to give you as many images as I can of me doing bar spins even though they're a little sloppy haven't been riding much like I said but if you guys already know how to bar spinner you want to learn switch bars one thing that I find helpful is again pinching your seat I actually do them overhand so it's really weird and I think it's a little bit harder but I notice that if you like throw them five times before you do it it almost always helps you land it wooo bang bang bang bang kiss hopefully you guys dig it and I really hope this helped you guys so Adam LZ check out everything I got I got a Facebook page for you to like I got a Twitter I got an Instagram I even have some shirts that should be up for sale soon it's going to be just you you'll hear about it just keep in tuned so
