Taking my R32 GTR Off-Road

**The Safari GTR's First Official Outing**

As we set out on our adventure with the Safari GTR, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. We had been preparing for this moment for a while, and I was eager to see how our beastly machine would handle the rough terrain. Donnie, my spotter and navigator, gave me a thumbs up as we began our journey.

"Hey, why didn't you tell us about jumps?" I asked Donnie, trying to keep a straight face. He just shrugged and said "you're good." We continued on our way, unaware of the surprises that lay ahead. yesterday that I didn't film cuz I was going in full uh I call it crack head mode where I just get tunnel vision and just work as quickly as I can because I know there's a lot to get done other than the boring stuff like aligning the car adjusting Caster clearance blah blah blah I got some mud flaps on her nothing crazy these are actually like WRX mud flaps I did make a bracket though here just to give it a little more rigidity and in the rear I put in some metal inserts like this instead of the stock rubber garments with screws just to make sure they're held in a lot better if I'm flinging up rocks and stuff roof rack is cut and fitted permanently I know a lot of you guys are kind of on the fences if you like it tilted back or not I'm not going to lie it's kind of grown on me the car has a little bit of reverse rake and uh kind of dig it but I know a lot of people want to see it tilted up and leveled still got a wire in the lights crash bar is powder coated now shout out Prismatic most of my time was spent inside this thing though somehow I got the rear seat to fit even with this bolt-in cage it was an absolute nightmare I couldn't get the stock seat belts to work which is what I wanted to do because they're wedged in by the cage so I Chuck some harnesses in they actually tie in with the color of the car pretty well shout out you know camo big off-road guy a beautiful Nismo wheel but my favorite thing is these new W lab gauges we've got all these different styles of gauges in the app even old logo baby how freaking cool is that all right this is your last chance to appreciate the engine baby before it's coated in mud we did take a couple precautionary measures I got these plugs that I put in as many holes as I could taped up some of the other big holes where I know mud's going to fly in but Sean you did a good job but she's about to get cooked yeah I'm not excited for this at all I'm excited this is the moment we've all been waiting for this is so sad the dust is going to be like all right first test the only thing we got to dial on is the window situation we got him cracked right now so he doesn't get covered in dust but um all right for our first test we're just going to a little dirt road just to kind of see how it handles I've driven around the compound a little bit but you want to hear what it sounds like with the wastegate thing now yeah all wheeel drive or no all-wheel drive all wheel oh that's way better sounds good right hell yeah brakes aren't too bad sounds normal damn this thing going be fun dude hell yeah going to take everything out of me not to rip up my yard all right we're on a dir Road y don't just be hitting the bumps now I'm not just hitting them aggressively but like it's doing pretty good should I leave it a re drive at first I should do this little T it that's of oh my God yeah that was sick that was was actually really cool so I've got the tires aired down to 18 lbs right now they can definitely go um that was so cool right they can definitely go lower for a little more traction but in rear wheel drive that wasn't bad for just spinning on a dirt road huh that's sick kind of didn't hit me that it was just going to break traction and go to limiter like all the time we drive it all right this is a little bit more gravel oh God I'm like purpose like I want to hit the bumps big enough to feel if it's going to that one was big yo yo dude we're chilling I guess and I haven't I haven't even played with the damper as much yet either dude it's it's taking it like a champ I just got to watch out for little things like that like this guy dude this is crazy I'm not even thinking about it it just working this is our first little mud pit should I go through it and turn around on the other side yeah we're chilling dude oh dude man dude this is where having the all-wheel drive Locker will come in handy dude a dirt launch is going to be so sick I know right this is like dudee we're chilling four runers homies don't even know what's going to be hitting them me it shouldn't break an axle right R dirt yeah oh my God y that was cool as W oh my God bro oh my I don't know chill a little bumpy there that was kind of cool yeah the launch you could feel it pulling dude that was crazy and it like took the bumps really well too oh my God big bump that was Bump Stop but we know it hit the bump stop dude this thing pulls like crazy yeah it feels really good it feels really fast we only hit the bum stop with me like being real ignorant so like if we want to go like full rally car ignorant that's what we'll need just like a little bit longer travel or raise it a little bit more imagine this racing my side by side that would actually be a pretty good race you'd get smoked by the side by side no this I don't know side by side like power to weight is pretty similar kind of fast that's that's the closest thing that I could say this feels like yeah I'll agree pulls hard well especially dude with the oneway diff in the front the steering is just like locked straight yeah it's gnarly that's why on the street it pulls is it pretty muddy yeah can you not like just smoke the we go through the muds first slow could to smoke the so aggressive with your terminology stop send it I don't what the Bro not even not even hard I thought that was like the Mucky mck I mean I think it was I think we were just that good it's just so chill I know you had AC it's like you're in a jeep except just AC you got a way bigger you know oh wow E36 it ain't too muddy no it's not I mean I was but flaps worked oh yeah they did hell yeah I love that look at that not even dirty on the back how's the engine bay dude we're good it's literally perfect and we were bombing that dirt road I know right this is good this is a good sign smoked on that y the power steering belt didn't come off love to hear it welcome to the safari GTR very cool aside for having to climb over the driver's seat I have the windows just cracked right now that way if we bomb through any dirt or mud it won't get us all dirty you bule me up y here you go so it's it's I like this wow this Bolton cage is so nice why is it so nice this all the Japanese ones are it's pretty good right yeah why is it pulling to the right this is the road D the tires aren't that noisy either no the suspension kind up sick you approve yeah this thing so cool and it looks so cool it's such a cool presents hopefully nothing flies off going to sha behind us oh yeah it's so cushy it's like not that cushy at the same time it actually drives pretty straight considering you have an alignment Grand Colette farm girl Davis chickens Tractor Supply Coco to Pink Ram yeah man I just like whenever I see something it's not the road I just want to go on it you know yeah that must be how people at four runners feel want me just use my tires I'm just going to get a photo I don't know if I'm going to leave it here I don't know if I trust the uh leave it in Deer Sean's son's backing up too okay what did he think he is uh-uh I thought this was a flex you know parking next to all the trucks over here in the grass hill and then Booth had to go and park here with a St car look at that this Florida Tech out here this is a great way to break in the New Year tell you what this is the last day of 2024 they're spinning at Gators then tractor yep how's the back seat work Sean Adam Adam Adam it that's good thank God you put it in what the seat yeah you're welcome it fits good yeah don't break boo had a little engine issue so now he's getting check your freeze plugs bro gu my Bros what a great success of the first kind of testing with this thing while we got some time we're going to stop over by the house and check out some of the progress that they've made if you guys aren't following on the obsessed garage channel Matt who has an insane level of attention to to detail and knows all the coolest gadgets when it comes to garages has taken a dive into the home world where he also Geeks out and nerds out on all the cool stuff and has taken on the project of redoing our house he's been making a bunch of awesome content on it so if you haven't checked his channel out I'm going to put the link in the description and if you follow their Instagram you can get real time updates a lot of the uh stuff up until now has been like structural electrical Mike's been going crazy doing all the stuff to prep but now is when the real transformation starts to happen when you see the tile and everything it all kind of comes together they have to do one more tone of paint on it it but look how much more the glass like pops yeah that's so cool hold they got started on cocking the ceiling we've had a really big issue with mold so that was something that needed to happen and then it's also going to get painted this is my favorite part so far it's so cool speaking on Matt's experience he actually had a very similar problem at one of his houses and realized that a lot of heat would be coming from below the plank so the trick is before you paint them you seal them so that's what you see up there uh I want to see the tile though and look there's no there used to be a door here there's no longer a door here and there is no longer an office we now have an extra extra Pig I love these what are these called popsicle sticks wow tile makes these things yeah I love them not pop candy bars candy ples sweet sweet bars that's not those though but those are sweet bars no sweet bars are the skinny ones that we were going to have in the kitchen I'm calling them candy canes I don't know I don't I don't see it but you know what yeah the ch ch okay throw the master back throw the master back this look insane and it's all covered up so you can't see the floor but oh you did get the things yeah this is the sweet bars right uh no that is a white version of what we have uh in the living room so the living room crazy the living room those bars that go from the ceiling all the way down these are those same bars but in white where is there a light in here it feels so much bigger now so before the wall kind of like went here and we actually made it larger this is crazy oh and I love that the shower head is nice and High I have the problem when I go to hotels I've got to like when I'm showering you know I'm a little bit above average when it comes to the height Department fun fact we weren't planning to do the upstairs bathroom and that was one thing that for budgetary reasons we're like ah we'll just leave that no one really goes up there and then right before we renovated the house we started staying upstairs way more than downstairs so we're like might as well do the bathroom up there nice I think that's one of my favorite areas of the house so far these stairs are pretty cool too you get a bathroom dude the bathroom's sick this looks crazy all the different textures and tiles I love this metallic tile right here it's so cool I see why they call the tile company wow wow so good bretan has been a huge part of the home renovation especially like they killing it with all the tile I can't wait to see how good the cabinets are going to look yeah that should be coming up in like next week or two supposed to be done by the end of the month so I'm stretch but anyway wanted to give you guys a quick little update Matt's home for the holiday so we'll grab him when he comes back still got to teach him to drift he's been he's been actually hitting me up really excited to do that okay Matt's like oh yeah I've never drifted I know how gets in the car and just immediately is already doing some of the right things and was trying to just go to Second and drift the compound like his first few minutes ever sliding so I think he'll be fine he'll learn fast all right we got testing round two today where we're going to go on a little bit more legit Trails but before we do that we took a pit stop at monster performance and we're actually going back on the dyno and I'll explain why traditionally when you tune a car it's based off your map signal so your fueling will be according to whatever pressures build up in this Plum but it gets tricky when you have itbs and instead of having the throttle here the throttles are over here like this now sometimes you can get away with tuning ITB cars map based but I think because this car has a turbo that's on the smaller side it actually makes boost so early they're just weird cells of the table where it can wind up a little lean or a little Rich if it's not as consistent so what Lee is going to do for me is he's now tuning it in alpha n you want to explain what that is um so what are we going to do is is pretty much the the whole map the fuel map is going to be TPS base so it gives us more resolution for all the in between cells that we can't get to um when it's uh map base the boys over at link did us a massive solid and they were able to take Le's fuel map and basically transfer it over to TPS base so now all he's got to do is make sure everything's legit my other GTR is matte based and I think because the turbo is so laggy it doesn't really matter cuz it's not making boost at idle or cruising but this thing Lee wants to get it super super dial for me so um this is how you do all the stock turbo GTR cuz they make boost early right yep all the small turbo stuff cuz it makes boost without you even being Full Throttle makes sense sick power numbers will be the same but it'll be a lot smoother everywhere I did forget to add uh when he tuned it last time it had a pretty big boost leak so now that that's resolved the car actually made more power at Les boost we wound up Peak at 5:30 and we were able to bring the torque up a little bit in the mid-range just to get it to come on faster it is a stock motor so I probably won't run it at its full power level it's good to know we got it if we need it you know you never KN when you're going to end up drag racing a side by side in the middle of a desert so hopefully that happens to us at some point that'd be pretty cool do some Street tuning now get it super dialed in then we'll go hit the next set of trails instantly with the TPS base like it feels so good yeah it's cruising and even just butter smooth dude this turbo is so good it's like on that's like four grand and it's just like na trying to pretend like I'm driving in a trail you know you know in the trails you're not always 100% throttle yeah we'll get some here and then we'll get some a pretty good steering Ang for all whe drive car I was going to say like yeah for you to be making this turn I was like oh me too cuz you raised it too like it just lets it relax more or something evos are the worst for that horrible you got to do a freaking three-point turn everywhere do you ever have any EO no I want a nine though or eight it's tough dude I see grass now and I just want to drive in it you know just do a little donut and see how it acts yeah sure feel like how wheel one whe feels I I think it's cuz the wheel's so big that it has the clutch sliping has the the yeah I think you should really just uh what's the name shim it yeah I mean we can shim it yeah like really should shim it can we do all whe Drive launch yes you know how to slip it right get down Dude that feels crazy I just love how it lifts I know that's nuts that feels good as dude the bang on the shipo sounds sick that's all that extra fuel now yeah it's a LZ alignment so that's why it pulls a little sick no it don't matter the dirt the O Drive stuff works so good like it it sends power to the front so damn fast so it will torque steer a little bit well especially with the LSD up front yeah see all right to the trails to the trails yeah that's crazy you need rotors yeah I know need you got rotors no I need rotors first time on the highway I'd say it's a pretty good success yes it rides butter smooth smooth feels like we're in a Cadillac I love it probably like a 2015 Cadillac it's weird now that I have an off-road vehicle like all the Raptors and four runners they keep trying to race us yeah crazy we literally have a raptor right next to us right now he been stalking us dude I think they're trying to race too a CH one same class you guys might recognize where we are but this is its official first real test spot we've got some Sandy Trails then we've got some muddy Trails bunch of different stuff look at the clearance on this thing how good is that still got a a problem with the LSD in the rear we're probably going to shim it when we get back home just get to lock up a little bit more first we' got a little bit of one whee peel action still going on with it I'm fired up baby all wheeel Drive engaged it's honestly probably more fun than re wheel drive drive first I'm waiting on himat BR I just had it set SE the bom CL what you do are you good it's really tight re whe drive or all whe Drive re wheel drive first all right oh you're going to blast them woo it works good right you got that yeah I don't know how deep that is look like it in all Drive I don't know how deep that is I think weig yeah I think we good oh should I go through that big one you think how deep it is I think you should go I think that's safer than that one that one would you go over the top yeah I didn't feel you spin a tire yet so that's good not my highight on that dude you scared go to church I think I should go through that one film it from the front it's a little bit of momentum when her right holy overgrown and botles full of water trying to think where else we could try oh my God it hooks so good breaking up a little bit yo it's good right even in the dirt we're moving we're moving y baby I'm talking about that's pretty sick can't take the drift out of Adam Lee wants me to try to drift that corner up there but I'm going to check it out first I guess the only thing would be that coming coming this way oh my God y that was sick yo I got to put the all wheeel drive switch on the steering wheel right for sure I know I was like Boop yeah that was sick though a good idea that's good man that was that was scary as pretty sick right I thought we were going to go in the water that was lit though I know a lot of people including myself were a little bit concerned about temps with all the stuff blocking it we've been raging the car for a while iats 91° shout out pwr cooling temps 183 which is ice cool especially for an RB so we're we're chilling right now we're in Florida too but we're Going's going to be colder than this dang look at the sunet I think it's safe to say this is the Safari gtr's first official outing and it went unprecedentedly well uh didn't hit bump stops didn't get stuck only thing I had an issue with was sucking in a little bit of water when honestly I wasn't even planning to take this thing through giant puddles although it would probably be a good idea to revise some sort of snorkel setup um Power was great turbo was super responsive tune was spot on brakes could use a little bit of upgrading I want to drive it on some higher speed stuff you might notice I was leav it in rear wheel drive cuz honestly all-wheel drive hooks so crazy well pavement dirt The Nomad Grapplers actually have way more grip than I probably need for something like this um I got to get the lights wired up so that'll be huge and then when I get the even longer stroke suspension from BC uh that's going to be really cool cuz then I'll be able to hit a lot more of these like Huger bumps with confidence but yeah I'd say this is a great success let me know uh what you guys thought about this different ways that I can film future endeavors with this I got a few spots on my Hit List to take this thing it's cool it's different than drifting it's a little bit more low low key you know just cruising maybe I'll make some Jeep friends we'll go out and you know eat some barbecue and go Offroad and whatever they do but great rig I'm stok you guys are stoked on this thing got some finishing bits to do it and then it's next stop is Colorado it going to be cold that you
