i'm sorry 6s plus box if only to show you the scale and one person in my periscope there i had the audacity to say who cares about darth vader i'm like no no no no that just does not fly with me because i hate to explain this to everybody but this figure here will likely be worth more than this at some point in the future today not so much uh at some point in the future absolutely so uh it's going to be an unboxing and initial impressions i'm not going to run through setup it's not going to be an extensive type of video i will of course be upgrading from the iphone 6 which i've had for the past year to the iphone 6s plus moving from what would now be considered a smaller iphone to a phablet edition phablet's a word that's used to mash up phone and tablet phablet why we call them phones anymore is beyond me in fact one of the things i want to get for our daughter jedi is one of those old toy phones you know that's got the rotary dial that i still have nightmares about not the toy i love the toy they still make the toys i still have nightmares about not being able to get to the number i'm trying to dial to does does anybody else remember rotary dial it was one of the first apps i downloaded for the very first iphone when we had the opportunity to download apps okay just giving you perspective uh if you've never caught a live unboxing or really a live stream with me then you have no idea i'm kind of all over the place that's the really uh the way that i like to do things uh i will be watching questions not just for my patrons aka my supernomies i stream tldr live to came here of course to hear my experience in moving from the iphone 6 from the iphone 5s from the iphone 5 from the iphone 4s from the iphone 4 from the iphone 3gs from the iphone 3g from the original iphone so this is the progression i've i've been with pretty much every device having gone on record the day that the iphone was released saying that it was a stupid idea i've been eating crow ever since this is the 128 gigabyte iphone 6s plus it is slack devices but then again it's a very vader like phone it's taller than the action figures that i prefer i prefer the 3.75 inch scale of action figures as far as phones go i really don't have a preference so uh we see that it's wrapped in cellophane it's a thin profile for being as tall as it is it seems it's a very thin profile i mean it's not that i expect the phone you got to remember back in the day because i'm four years old so back in the day mobile phones were bigger than this antenna and then use it yeah i can hear you i'm wireless huh what no i'm in my car driving because there are no laws because no one knows what the hell i'm doing i'm talking to a brick in fact if i'm not mistaken they used to make fake cell phones like this so it looks like you were more important than you actually were it's kind of like today you can have a twitter account and look more important than you actually are or a youtube channel give one to anybody these days okay so uh i remember the time when phones were phones and we used them to talk to one another uh but we've certainly progressed from there 128 gigs moving from a 128 gig space gray iphone 6 to a 6s plus my first daily driver intended daily driver uh in the phablet class i've used phablets before large screened phones uh very much aware of the shortcomings of not having a device that i can effectively operate with one hand i'm moving past that because i wanted this for one reason and one reason alone i don't care about the big screen i don't care i don't care about longer battery life i don't care i don't care about anything except for optical image stabilization on the camera because this is my primary camera and i'm probably going to burn a hole in my thumb if i keep doing that i'm trying to whittle away at the cellophane there so i can remove it with a great degree of ease kaylon 1988 asks did you ever have the iphone 5c chris no i did not i to go for the phablet he's ready to go big screen he's ready to make a leap four not four s four but look how nice it is it is nice you've got the bar it's it's clean i'll give you that but uh i will take uh uh uh the latest iphone any day assume like people ask are you gonna do the latest iphone of course just assume yes is the answer this is like an early christmas for me i upgrade the iphone every year i upgrade the ipad every year it's what i do it's part of my dna just like are you going to get that vader the answer is yes just assume unless i've already had it i got a couple more questions here as i'm holding the phone it's it's heavy ish i mean certainly heavier compared to the iphone 6. uh let me see uh tv max asks what made you choose six plus over the 6s i kind of answered that question uh optical image stabilization i've talked about it for the past couple of weeks in tl dr i assume you're paying attention so here i am holding the uh space grays together they're very alien-esque now if i hold it like this now look what the iphone 6 is bigger than the 6s plus yes if i hold it in this perspective see how see how i did that it's called click bait people that's what that's what that's called right there so there's the uh 6s plus next to the iphone 6 definitely larger i'm going to go ahead and ah sorry jedi my daughter is calling me from downstairs apparently ah oh really now you stop there you go you guys getting and gals guys and gals getting a good idea there cybertron x studios asks do you think 3d touch will be a new standard in touch interface industry-wide or you think it's just a gimmick from what i've seen it doesn't appear to be a gimmick it seems to be very very usable very well thought out and definitely beyond the idea of haptics or what we've known haptics to be at this point in time but i haven't had any use of it yet james boster asks what was your favorite phone you owned my favorite god i don't know if i have a favorite i i guess i don't view them as anything but inanimate objects these are tools this is like ask me my life revolves around technology not the other way around see there's a difference in philosophy there you understand what's going on uh saleh and i'm having a problem seeing my eyes need an upgrade uh alzamal is a highly recommended upgrade from iphone 6 plus to 6s plus that's a great question um if you're used to a 6 plus i think an upgrade to a 6s plus makes sense even a 6 to a 6s plus this is quite an upgrade even with battery life being the same moving from a 6 to a 6s or 6s i'm sorry 6 plus to a 6s plus battery life's the same because they had to accommodate the taptic engine which drives 3d touch so they had to shrink the battery but made optimizations with ios 9. so the big reason you'd probably want to upgrade to the latest generation is the speed 1.5 x faster than previous generation iphones so it's faster you've got a higher megapixel count without necessarily sacrificing image quality uh and of course of course a few other things in total including double the amount of ram which should save you from reloading things on a frequent basis uh since uh the ram had to power a larger screen with the iphone 6 plus the previous generation phablet from apple uh it makes sense for you to upgrade that that's the number one reason to upgrade and specifically a six plus to a 6s plus but as i said sell your old phones don't whole lot these are these are pretty much i'm not going to say they're worthless but i'm saying they've lost a lot of value so you know holding on to technology is kind of unless you're collecting it which is it's fine i mean there are tech museums i'd get rid of him right away hey it's boss one of my star wars peoples like you were we're talking star wars and we share star wars stories hey hey it's boss are the apple logos the same size on either phone yes they appear to be yeah they look exactly the same size if they're scaled differently it's not noticeable well hang on maybe just a little bigger maybe a maybe a hair bigger maybe maybe it is proportional uh to the naked eye it's difficult to discern maybe yeah okay just slightly bigger slightly bigger but not like massively bigger not like it it's throwing me off uh it is going to be impossible to use this with one hand or just one hand despite reachability being able to double tap the home button to move forward joe nas asks do you wish apple should start making 256 gig devices for the cost of a bit more weight at the cost of more weight yeah i would prefer the more gig you can give me the happier i am you're never going to hear me argue otherwise but the uh uh the idea of what apple is trying to do of course remember they're a completely different company than any other company out there uh they make their money with hardware so if they can up their profit margin across the board without necessarily sacrificing usability across the board that's the decision they're going to make and so as much as i would like a 256 gig version i'm happy with 128 now i i've come not even come close to tapping 128 gig at this stage i was coming close to 64 gig the discrepancy of 64 to 128 is much wider and i'm very very happy to have that space and you'll always just assume that i'm going to go for as much capacity as i possibly can when it comes to a device that i happen to use on a daily basis uh jim r6 asks do you think the moving photos is a gimmick or a useful tool you're talking about live photos haven't had a chance to use them uh they haven't updated ios 9 to 9.1 they've only done 901 so that's just some interim fixes but 9.1 should address some of the issues that people have had with live photos with ios 9 specifically on their iphone 6 and iphone 6 plus test units um it seems a little gimmicky but i like animated gifs so i i think it could find its place specifically and and actually the one of the reviews that i had read explained that it's a great type of experience especially if you have a baby because babies are always moving or even pets they're always moving they're never still and a live photo can capture moments that a still photo never will or never could it's one of the reasons i like vlogging on a daily basis and capturing video because it just captures the entire experience so to have that encapsulated in a photo i think makes more sense for certain things not other things like if i was taking a picture of a toy a live photo's not gonna really do anything except maybe there's leaves blowing in the background but you know when you've got a a moment that you're trying to capture beyond that single snapshot single frame i think live photos could find their way into our hearts potentially but it could very well fall into gimmick i i think i'd be more inclined to put that in the gimmick realm uh than 3d touch the way that apple's implemented in ios 9 and assumedly above but uh yeah we'll see i haven't had a chance my only disappointment with ios 9 right now in live photos even though i haven't used it is that you cannot easily apparently export into animated gif i'm a huge fan of animated gifs in fact if no one makes an animated gif from this video i'm going to be very disappointed uh oh wow we got quite a stack of questions here did you do apple upgrade program uh not yet but i'm looking into options on that so uh stay tuned to tldr to find out what we decide on that by the way i apologize i i talked about initial impressions you know it's it's definitely heavier than the six but i don't really have you know something to compare it against uh definitely bigger than the the six but again we're talking about two different devices two generations but absolutely an upgrade in just about every way i should continue with the unboxing though there we have this uh this flap which we've seen before that gives way to this flap ah that has all sorts of goodness inside including assuming apple stickers which i have yet to use on anything we've got the earbuds i did a video a while ago explaining to you how you can get the earbuds back into the case there is a trick to it we've got the ac adapter usb and then of course the lightning cable which i'm very happy to have i always appreciate an extra lightning cable or two next question tvmax asks chris i remember the day you reviewed the 3gs you really liked it back in the day is that a candidate for your favorite i don't know uh love and hail will diana be upgrading and if so will she get the rose gold color i don't know yet uh we're we're likely looking to options we're the type of family that upgrades every year just assume it's going to happen so we're going to find our way into the most friendly upgrade program that we can find we're definitely going to be doing our research and not leaping blindly into it uh and of course you should watch the vlog for more information because we we kind of throw that into our daily lives uh anti-morgan's asked if you hate the 6s plus and will you return to the 6 or sell the 6s plus to get the 6s that's a fantastic question um you know i i'd be inclined to kind of grow into using it on a regular basis or look past what i don't like about it just like i did with the 6 moving from the 5s it's a different sized device it's a different class altogether i would be inclined to go back to a 6s rather than the 6. absolutely because you don't want to necessarily lose speed and since they're clocked at pretty much the same uh i guess efficiency but when it comes to processing power ram etc spec wise they're about the same minus the screen size battery size uh and then the optical image stabilization uh there are some other nuances in there as well but i would be inclined to stick with it if only because i honestly believe and i know this is probably going to upset a lot of people possibly this is going to be the way it's going to be for a while you got two size iphones but i have a feeling that this is the future of the iphone the bigger phone i have a feeling this is it they will likely continue to produce both of them for a while but i think at some point they're just going to eschew the smaller screen and go over the larger one and people are just going to get used to using it that way i think the idea of using uh the phone with one hand was quaint uh i trust me it was one of my use cases for the the number of years but honestly the six busted me of that habit uh let's see here anthony asks what is your top iphone success feature in least i i don't know i don't know um i haven't used it yet uh the only thing that drove me to using the iphone 6s plus specifically was the optical image stabilization so my favorite feature is probably double the ram and a faster cpu you know it's a faster it's a better it's going to be a bigger upgrade moving from the 6 to the 6s plus than it was for me to move speed wise from in responsiveness wise moving from the 5s to the 6 a bigger discrepancy in in speed outright uh so i'll media asks and you have to pardon i slaughter names all the time does the camera still have that bump it does does that bother me absolutely not even with or without a case and of course i will be putting a case on it this is the silicone case that came with it and just to uh tuck away the iphone 6 within the silicone case there you go i went with silicone over the the leather one this is by apple uh specifically because i figured it would offer a bit more grip and it has you know just holding holding onto the silicone case without the phone the iphone 6s plus in there it does have a bit more grip to it than the leather so hopefully that'll aid in in usability and i look at my own habits and i'm using the phone with two hands anyway so especially when i'm taking a photo i want to still photo i'm using two hands at what point at what point i'm thinking well an optical image stabilizer built into the hardware would just do me so much better uh can you do a bend test sure if you send me one of yours absolutely caleb cutbert with phones ipads getting bigger and laptops getting thinner will the ipad mini which bridges the gap guy out it's possible or as i like to call the ipad mini the iphone plus plus uh cassie lowe got the ipad mini 4 today which is pretty cool she's going to be unboxing that matt grimes asks why do phone makers continue to sell low storage phones in a day where 128 gigs is almost not enough especially with no expandable storage matt uh cost honestly apple's gonna make more money if they sell the 64 gig model than they do with the 16 so it may be enough to encourage people to get the 64 gig model and make apple more money uh john smith is there haptic feedback on the keyboard i don't know uh sicknick64 says iphone needs a removable battery no it does not if apple puts the same kind of battery in its macbook line the battery is die out very quickly if you use this device more than two years wow congratulations technology was not designed to last forever okay it's like it's like you saying i still use my rotary dial why why yeah i know dad you got the iphone 4 good for you my battery still works yeah your battery works very well but you're still upgrading yes uh so soil meta and i said his name differently this time are any of the side buttons textured yeah they feel like metal like aluminum a new kind of aluminum oh it's a 7000 series alloy i don't know it's supposedly stronger we'll see uh tala shamia asks why didn't you buy rose gold because you are new here because i tend to appreciate silver and black uh when it comes to computing and technology and devices and anything in general i'm very monochromatic that way i don't like color i don't even like color in my my cases i just i prefer very simple i just want the device to melt away and honestly rose gold is gold white oh that's a choi it's a personal choice see that's me i mean everybody you got a choice right and that's great you can choose whatever you want to choose i don't have to choose what you choose i just ugh that's my opinion that is definitely my opinion uh how does the phone feel in the pocket that's what i don't like about mine says mnm monster let me go ahead and remove that part slip it into the case should be pretty easy here and i will give it a pocket test uh tech guy asks who would you say this iphone has a better camera than the note 5 i don't know i i have not compared oh i just turned on the iphone there we go it is booting up for the first time uh let's get it in the pocket yeah fits in the pocket fine i mean i don't have deep pockets necessarily but uh you know i usually when i'm driving or sitting down at any length of time the phone is out of the pocket doesn't feel like it's bending awkwardly it's running running up against my uh lip balm but uh seems to be seems to be okay there okay cool seems fine in the pocket and i'm definitely not a big guy uh nokolus prime says i'm greatly considering buying an iphone however i love my androids what are some crushing features and iphones that general compared to flagship androids you can browse the web check twitter facebook play some games they're the same thing i know people are just going to rake me across the goals from that they're the same thing that's what's so funny about all this they're different but they're the same you can do the same things they look different sometimes they're made by different manufacturers but they're the same thing they're the same thing for the most part you have a choice though you do have a choice i i really don't care i don't care what you get i i'm not here to sell you on something else it's not my job um they're the same thing that you can do the same things with pretty much everything these days or most people can you know how fast do you need to check your email i don't know i don't know how do you want it to work well it's completely up to you it's subjective there is no winner there there is no winner in a race that never ends so uh that again is a very loaded question and uh that's this is how i choose to respond to it uh mitsocool says damn you lost weight you you you must not be watching the vlogs because that was the whole process of getting healthier with the apple watch and periscope and watching it's like uh tv max says chris i use my iphone more than two years because i don't have 750 years to splash on a new phone selling is difficult for me oh well yeah that's sure that's one scenario uh i i get rid of whatever i can you know i sell a lot of old gadgets to to get new ones should you get it it's a huge investment for me says taylor sabo i have the 5s it's up to you i don't know sure i i really i can't make these decisions forever i mean like you're you're asking me a very very complicated question i don't know sure if you have to live with it i don't have to live with it if i said no well what am i basing that on any if you ask me any kind of question should i get x y or z i have to know so much more about you so much more than just device x or device y it's no longer about one device folks it's not just about this it's not just about this it's about this as it interoperates with that that that that that it's more than just one device it's that device as a part of an experience in an archipelago of devices okay so keep that in mind i can't answer those questions it's an impossible question and anybody tries to answer that question without context is doing you a major disservice uh our cases for iphone 6 and 6s the same size asks daniel castino yes apparently right now i think they're kind of you can accommodate the 6s even though it is larger slightly uh largely because of the 3d touch technology that they incorporated from my understanding uh you can put the six s in a six case and a six plus in a six s plus right a six s plus in a six plus case and a six 6s in a 6 case that's my understanding uh jsantana319 asks are you going to be using the iphone 6s plus for your vlogs now is much better quality no absolutely not i will likely be shooting a 4k vlog once uh maybe twice who knows but i'm very much intent on using this as a my vlog camera because it's a separate camera i don't want to drain battery life because this is a communications device uh you know i want to be able to use this when i when i need to for whatever reason but i can't check my twitter feed with my camera this and it's it this is it's easier to to to move around maneuver uh i've got extra batteries for this i don't necessarily need to worry about this uh being tied to this so it's it's always going to be a trade-off and at this stage i'm much more comfortable in using this as a vlog camera than i am uh the the phone despite quote-unquote quality because i can shoot 60 frames per second 1080p video on this and i'm happy with 60 frames per second uh gary ashcroft asks are you going to use it as your daily phone well i guess you're gonna have to stay tuned to the blog to find out uh uh murray moose how does it feel in the hand does it feel comfortable that's a great question subjective though because we all have different hand sizes we all have been you know used to different things the first time i touched one in this apple store it had been like six months after they had released the iphone 6 uh in the six plus i thought wow that is huge it is bigger it is absolutely bigger uh it's weighty in in my hand uh compared to the six which is lighter substantially lighter and we're not we're talking about just a few ounces here uh but you know i just can't imagine um the uh what you're getting in terms of screen size and battery life etc it getting too much more light than this i'm not saying that it's heavy or light i'm just saying that it's definitely got weight to it but i'm also comparing it to a smaller size device completely editing i could never do that my current phone you could dad edits video on his iphone 4 so if you can do it on a four you can do it on your current phone because i can't imagine it being much smaller trying to you know learn everything about you uh although it's cool if you want to just offer it up like what you've got um you know in terms of video editing it was the ipad pro that they showed in front of this screen which you've likely seen before i know i'm streaming live into my classic channel i haven't done that in a while normally i stream live tech talk every single weekday in the geek lifestyles channel that's the other youtube channel that i have apart from the perilla vlogs channel which is still getting updated as well i'm doing my best to be one chris pirillo for everybody but that can be a challenge especially when you're interested in a lot of things so i'm interested in this right now a few minutes before i started to stream live here i was interested in that i periscoped with a darth vader 3.75 inch scale figure and placed it next to the iphone 6 plus i'm sorry 6s plus box if only to show you the scale and one person in my periscope there i had the audacity to say who cares about darth vader i'm like no no no no that just does not fly with me because i hate to explain this to everybody but this figure here will likely be worth more than this at some point in the future today not so much uh at some point in the future absolutely so uh it's going to be an unboxing and initial impressions i'm not going to run through setup it's not going to be an extensive type of video i will of course be upgrading from the iphone 6 which i've had for the past year to the iphone 6s plus moving from what would now be considered a smaller iphone to a phablet edition phablet's a word that's used to mash up phone and tablet phablet why we call them phones anymore is beyond me in fact one of the things i want to get for our daughter jedi is one of those old toy phones you know that's got the rotary dial that i still have nightmares about not the toy i love the toy they still make the toys i still have nightmares about not being able to get to the number i'm trying to dial to does does anybody else remember rotary dial it was one of the first apps i downloaded for the very first iphone when we had the opportunity to download apps okay just giving you perspective uh if you've never caught a live unboxing or really a live stream with me then you have no idea i'm kind of all over the place that's the really uh the way that i like to do things uh i will be watching questions not just for my patrons aka my supernomies i stream tldr live to them every weekday usually about an hour or so so it's like five plus hours of tech talk every week when you're a patron if you're not a patron and you can become one at chrisperillo.com then you can get a podcast for free that's like one-third of tldr so i'm still talking tech every single weekday but if you're not aware of that well then you're not paying attention and i don't know what to tell you so all right uh we will be watching the comments somewhere on the page uh and then liz will be feeding them to me audio is slightly out of sync not much i can do about that unfortunately it's actually me i've had two cups of coffee today so my audio if it seems like it's weird i would i would blame my uh mouth being out of sync or i'd blame youtube live which quite honestly works but it it sucks it works though i'm not gonna complain about it for what it is just that youtube live has not really been impressive for a while so let's go ahead and unbox the iphone 6s plus that's where you came here of course to hear my experience in moving from the iphone 6 from the iphone 5s from the iphone 5 from the iphone 4s from the iphone 4 from the iphone 3gs from the iphone 3g from the original iphone so this is the progression i've i've been with pretty much every device having gone on record the day that the iphone was released saying that it was a stupid idea i've been eating crow ever since this is the 128 gigabyte iphone 6s plus it is slack devices but then again it's a very vader like phone it's taller than the action figures that i prefer i prefer the 3.75 inch scale of action figures as far as phones go i really don't have a preference so uh we see that it's wrapped in cellophane it's a thin profile for being as tall as it is it seems it's a very thin profile i mean it's not that i expect the phone you got to remember back in the day because i'm four years old so back in the day mobile phones were bigger than this antenna and then use it yeah i can hear you i'm wireless huh what no i'm in my car driving because there are no laws because no one knows what the hell i'm doing i'm talking to a brick in fact if i'm not mistaken they used to make fake cell phones like this so it looks like you were more important than you actually were it's kind of like today you can have a twitter account and look more important than you actually are or a youtube channel give one to anybody these days okay so uh i remember the time when phones were phones and we used them to talk to one another uh but we've certainly progressed from there 128 gigs moving from a 128 gig space gray iphone 6 to a 6s plus my first daily driver intended daily driver uh in the phablet class i've used phablets before large screened phones uh very much aware of the shortcomings of not having a device that i can effectively operate with one hand i'm moving past that because i wanted this for one reason and one reason alone i don't care about the big screen i don't care i don't care about longer battery life i don't care i don't care about anything except for optical image stabilization on the camera because this is my primary camera and i'm probably going to burn a hole in my thumb if i keep doing that i'm trying to whittle away at the cellophane there so i can remove it with a great degree of ease kaylon 1988 asks did you ever have the iphone 5c chris no i did not i unboxed it live here i think in this channel a couple years ago when eddie bingham was visiting from the uk that was a lot of fun anthony mannigoni who always tunes into our vlogs always shares our vlogs always screenshots he's pretty much in every periscope that we do too it says i remember you had to pull out the antenna see yeah that was that was old school okay here we go henry whedos asks will this phablet be too big for smallish hands probably but that's not gonna stop me i was trying box part out of the box which i gotta tell you is very very disappointing uh you know right you know from the start i wanted a box fart i figured i paid i thought i paid extra for the box fart i don't off the bumper for me it just gives you some contacts in terms of the iphone that my dad is still using ladies and gentlemen a working iphone 4 not 4s 4. so i'm going to go ahead and hold the four up to the iphone 6s plus just to show you the difference there uh dad is ready to upgrade he's ready to go for the phablet he's ready to go big screen he's ready to make a leap four not four s four but look how nice it is it is nice you've got the bar it's it's clean i'll give you that but uh i will take uh uh uh the latest iphone any day assume like people ask are you gonna do the latest iphone of course just assume yes is the answer this is like an early christmas for me i upgrade the iphone every year i upgrade the ipad every year it's what i do it's part of my dna just like are you going to get that vader the answer is yes just assume unless i've already had it i got a couple more questions here as i'm holding the phone it's it's heavy ish i mean certainly heavier compared to the iphone 6. uh let me see uh tv max asks what made you choose six plus over the 6s i kind of answered that question uh optical image stabilization i've talked about it for the past couple of weeks in tl dr i assume you're paying attention so here i am holding the uh space grays together they're very alien-esque now if i hold it like this now look what the iphone 6 is bigger than the 6s plus yes if i hold it in this perspective see how see how i did that it's called click bait people that's what that's what that's called right there so there's the uh 6s plus next to the iphone 6 definitely larger i'm going to go ahead and ah sorry jedi my daughter is calling me from downstairs apparently ah oh really now you stop there you go you guys getting and gals guys and gals getting a good idea there cybertron x studios asks do you think 3d touch will be a new standard in touch interface industry-wide or you think it's just a gimmick from what i've seen it doesn't appear to be a gimmick it seems to be very very usable very well thought out and definitely beyond the idea of haptics or what we've known haptics to be at this point in time but i haven't had any use of it yet james boster asks what was your favorite phone you owned my favorite god i don't know if i have a favorite i i guess i don't view them as anything but inanimate objects these are tools this is like ask me my life revolves around technology not the other way around see there's a difference in philosophy there you understand what's going on uh saleh and i'm having a problem seeing my eyes need an upgrade uh alzamal is a highly recommended upgrade from iphone 6 plus to 6s plus that's a great question um if you're used to a 6 plus i think an upgrade to a 6s plus makes sense even a 6 to a 6s plus this is quite an upgrade even with battery life being the same moving from a 6 to a 6s or 6s i'm sorry 6 plus to a 6s plus battery life's the same because they had to accommodate the taptic engine which drives 3d touch so they had to shrink the battery but made optimizations with ios 9. so the big reason you'd probably want to upgrade to the latest generation is the speed 1.5 x faster than previous generation iphones so it's faster you've got a higher megapixel count without necessarily sacrificing image quality uh and of course of course a few other things in total including double the amount of ram which should save you from reloading things on a frequent basis uh since uh the ram had to power a larger screen with the iphone 6 plus the previous generation phablet from apple uh it makes sense for you to upgrade that that's the number one reason to upgrade and specifically a six plus to a 6s plus but as i said sell your old phones don't whole lot these are these are pretty much i'm not going to say they're worthless but i'm saying they've lost a lot of value so you know holding on to technology is kind of unless you're collecting it which is it's fine i mean there are tech museums i'd get rid of him right away hey it's boss one of my star wars peoples like you were we're talking star wars and we share star wars stories hey hey it's boss are the apple logos the same size on either phone yes they appear to be yeah they look exactly the same size if they're scaled differently it's not noticeable well hang on maybe just a little bigger maybe a maybe a hair bigger maybe maybe it is proportional uh to the naked eye it's difficult to discern maybe yeah okay just slightly bigger slightly bigger but not like massively bigger not like it it's throwing me off uh it is going to be impossible to use this with one hand or just one hand despite reachability being able to double tap the home button to move forward joe nas asks do you wish apple should start making 256 gig devices for the cost of a bit more weight at the cost of more weight yeah i would prefer the more gig you can give me the happier i am you're never going to hear me argue otherwise but the uh uh the idea of what apple is trying to do of course remember they're a completely different company than any other company out there uh they make their money with hardware so if they can up their profit margin across the board without necessarily sacrificing usability across the board that's the decision they're going to make and so as much as i would like a 256 gig version i'm happy with 128 now i i've come not even come close to tapping 128 gig at this stage i was coming close to 64 gig the discrepancy of 64 to 128 is much wider and i'm very very happy to have that space and you'll always just assume that i'm going to go for as much capacity as i possibly can when it comes to a device that i happen to use on a daily basis uh jim r6 asks do you think the moving photos is a gimmick or a useful tool you're talking about live photos haven't had a chance to use them uh they haven't updated ios 9 to 9.1 they've only done 901 so that's just some interim fixes but 9.1 should address some of the issues that people have had with live photos with ios 9 specifically on their iphone 6 and iphone 6 plus test units um it seems a little gimmicky but i like animated gifs so i i think it could find its place specifically and and actually the one of the reviews that i had read explained that it's a great type of experience especially if you have a baby because babies are always moving or even pets they're always moving they're never still and a live photo can capture moments that a still photo never will or never could it's one of the reasons i like vlogging on a daily basis and capturing video because it just captures the entire experience so to have that encapsulated in a photo i think makes more sense for certain things not other things like if i was taking a picture of a toy a live photo's not gonna really do anything except maybe there's leaves blowing in the background but you know when you've got a a moment that you're trying to capture beyond that single snapshot single frame i think live photos could find their way into our hearts potentially but it could very well fall into gimmick i i think i'd be more inclined to put that in the gimmick realm uh than 3d touch the way that apple's implemented in ios 9 and assumedly above but uh yeah we'll see i haven't had a chance my only disappointment with ios 9 right now in live photos even though i haven't used it is that you cannot easily apparently export into animated gif i'm a huge fan of animated gifs in fact if no one makes an animated gif from this video i'm going to be very disappointed uh oh wow we got quite a stack of questions here did you do apple upgrade program uh not yet but i'm looking into options on that so uh stay tuned to tldr to find out what we decide on that by the way i apologize i i talked about initial impressions you know it's it's definitely heavier than the six but i don't really have you know something to compare it against uh definitely bigger than the the six but again we're talking about two different devices two generations but absolutely an upgrade in just about every way i should continue with the unboxing though there we have this uh this flap which we've seen before that gives way to this flap ah that has all sorts of goodness inside including assuming apple stickers which i have yet to use on anything we've got the earbuds i did a video a while ago explaining to you how you can get the earbuds back into the case there is a trick to it we've got the ac adapter usb and then of course the lightning cable which i'm very happy to have i always appreciate an extra lightning cable or two next question tvmax asks chris i remember the day you reviewed the 3gs you really liked it back in the day is that a candidate for your favorite i don't know uh love and hail will diana be upgrading and if so will she get the rose gold color i don't know yet uh we're we're likely looking to options we're the type of family that upgrades every year just assume it's going to happen so we're going to find our way into the most friendly upgrade program that we can find we're definitely going to be doing our research and not leaping blindly into it uh and of course you should watch the vlog for more information because we we kind of throw that into our daily lives uh anti-morgan's asked if you hate the 6s plus and will you return to the 6 or sell the 6s plus to get the 6s that's a fantastic question um you know i i'd be inclined to kind of grow into using it on a regular basis or look past what i don't like about it just like i did with the 6 moving from the 5s it's a different sized device it's a different class altogether i would be inclined to go back to a 6s rather than the 6. absolutely because you don't want to necessarily lose speed and since they're clocked at pretty much the same uh i guess efficiency but when it comes to processing power ram etc spec wise they're about the same minus the screen size battery size uh and then the optical image stabilization uh there are some other nuances in there as well but i would be inclined to stick with it if only because i honestly believe and i know this is probably going to upset a lot of people possibly this is going to be the way it's going to be for a while you got two size iphones but i have a feeling that this is the future of the iphone the bigger phone i have a feeling this is it they will likely continue to produce both of them for a while but i think at some point they're just going to eschew the smaller screen and go over the larger one and people are just going to get used to using it that way i think the idea of using uh the phone with one hand was quaint uh i trust me it was one of my use cases for the the number of years but honestly the six busted me of that habit uh let's see here anthony asks what is your top iphone success feature in least i i don't know i don't know um i haven't used it yet uh the only thing that drove me to using the iphone 6s plus specifically was the optical image stabilization so my favorite feature is probably double the ram and a faster cpu you know it's a faster it's a better it's going to be a bigger upgrade moving from the 6 to the 6s plus than it was for me to move speed wise from in responsiveness wise moving from the 5s to the 6 a bigger discrepancy in in speed outright uh so i'll media asks and you have to pardon i slaughter names all the time does the camera still have that bump it does does that bother me absolutely not even with or without a case and of course i will be putting a case on it this is the silicone case that came with it and just to uh tuck away the iphone 6 within the silicone case there you go i went with silicone over the the leather one this is by apple uh specifically because i figured it would offer a bit more grip and it has you know just holding holding onto the silicone case without the phone the iphone 6s plus in there it does have a bit more grip to it than the leather so hopefully that'll aid in in usability and i look at my own habits and i'm using the phone with two hands anyway so especially when i'm taking a photo i want to still photo i'm using two hands at what point at what point i'm thinking well an optical image stabilizer built into the hardware would just do me so much better uh can you do a bend test sure if you send me one of yours absolutely caleb cutbert with phones ipads getting bigger and laptops getting thinner will the ipad mini which bridges the gap guy out it's possible or as i like to call the ipad mini the iphone plus plus uh cassie lowe got the ipad mini 4 today which is pretty cool she's going to be unboxing that matt grimes asks why do phone makers continue to sell low storage phones in a day where 128 gigs is almost not enough especially with no expandable storage matt uh cost honestly apple's gonna make more money if they sell the 64 gig model than they do with the 16 so it may be enough to encourage people to get the 64 gig model and make apple more money uh john smith is there haptic feedback on the keyboard i don't know uh sicknick64 says iphone needs a removable battery no it does not if apple puts the same kind of battery in its macbook line the battery is die out very quickly if you use this device more than two years wow congratulations technology was not designed to last forever okay it's like it's like you saying i still use my rotary dial why why yeah i know dad you got the iphone 4 good for you my battery still works yeah your battery works very well but you're still upgrading yes uh so soil meta and i said his name differently this time are any of the side buttons textured yeah they feel like metal like aluminum a new kind of aluminum oh it's a 7000 series alloy i don't know it's devices and anything in general i'm very monochromatic that way i don't like color i don't even like color in my my cases i just i prefer very simple i just want the device to melt away and honestly rose gold is gold white oh that's a choi it's a personal choice see that's me i mean everybody you got a choice right and that's great you can choose whatever you want to choose i don't have to choose what you choose i just ugh that's my opinion that is definitely my opinion uh how does the phone feel in the pocket that's what i don't like about mine says mnm monster let me go ahead and remove that part slip it into the case should be pretty easy here and i will give it a pocket test uh tech guy asks who would you say this iphone has a better camera than the note 5 i don't know i i have not compared oh i just turned on the iphone there we go it is booting up for the first time uh let's get it in the pocket yeah fits in the pocket fine i mean i don't have deep pockets necessarily but uh you know i usually when i'm driving or sitting down at any length of time the phone is out of the pocket doesn't feel like it's bending awkwardly it's running running up against my uh lip balm but uh seems to be seems to be okay there okay cool seems fine in the pocket and i'm definitely not a big guy uh nokolus prime says i'm greatly considering buying an iphone however i love my androids what are some crushing features and iphones that general compared to flagship androids you can browse the web check twitter facebook play some games they're the same thing i know people are just going to rake me across the goals from that they're the same thing that's what's so funny about all this they're different but they're the same you can do the same things they look different sometimes they're made by different manufacturers but they're the same thing they're the same thing for the most part you have a choice though you do have a choice i i really don't care i don't care what you get i i'm not here to sell you on something else it's not my job um they're the same thing that you can do the same things with pretty much everything these days or most people can you know how fast do you need to check your email i don't know i don't know how do you want it to work well it's completely up to you it's subjective there is no winner there there is no winner in a race that never ends so uh that again is a very loaded question and uh that's this is how i choose to respond to it uh mitsocool says damn you lost weight you you you must not be watching the vlogs because that was the whole process of getting healthier with the apple watch and periscope and watching it's like uh tv max says chris i use my iphone more than two years because i don't have 750 years to splash on a new phone selling is difficult for me oh well yeah that's sure that's one scenario uh i i get rid of whatever i can you know i sell a lot of old gadgets to to get new ones should you get it it's a huge investment for me says taylor sabo i have the 5s it's up to you i don't know sure i i really i can't make these decisions forever i mean like you're you're asking me a very very complicated question i don't know sure if you have to live with it i don't have to live with it if i said no well what am i basing that on any if you ask me any kind of question should i get x y or z i have to know so much more about you so much more than just device x or device y it's no longer about one device folks it's not just about this it's not just about this it's about this as it interoperates with that that that that that it's more than just one device it's that device as a part of an experience in an archipelago of devices okay so keep that in mind i can't answer those questions it's an impossible question and anybody tries to answer that question without context is doing you a major disservice uh our cases for iphone 6 and 6s the same size asks daniel castino yes apparently right now i think they're kind of you can accommodate the 6s even though it is larger slightly uh largely because of the 3d touch technology that they incorporated from my understanding uh you can put the six s in a six case and a six plus in a six s plus right a six s plus in a six plus case and a six 6s in a 6 case that's my understanding uh jsantana319 asks are you going to be using the iphone 6s plus for your vlogs now is much better quality no absolutely not i will likely be shooting a 4k vlog once uh maybe twice who knows but i'm very much intent on using this as a my vlog camera because it's a separate camera i don't want to drain battery life because this is a communications device uh you know i want to be able to use this when i when i need to for whatever reason but i can't check my twitter feed with my camera this and it's it this is it's easier to to to move around maneuver uh i've got extra batteries for this i don't necessarily need to worry about this uh being tied to this so it's it's always going to be a trade-off and at this stage i'm much more comfortable in using this as a vlog camera than i am uh the the phone despite quote-unquote quality because i can shoot 60 frames per second 1080p video on this and i'm happy with 60 frames per second uh gary ashcroft asks are you going to use it as your daily phone well i guess you're gonna have to stay tuned to the blog to find out uh uh murray moose how does it feel in the hand does it feel comfortable that's a great question subjective though because we all have different hand sizes we all have been you know used to different things the first time i touched one in this apple store it had been like six months after they had released the iphone 6 uh in the six plus i thought wow that is huge it is bigger it is absolutely bigger uh it's weighty in in my hand uh compared to the six which is lighter substantially lighter and we're not we're talking about just a few ounces here uh but you know i just can't imagine um the uh what you're getting in terms of screen size and battery life etc it getting too much more light than this i'm not saying that it's heavy or light i'm just saying that it's definitely got weight to it but i'm also comparing it to a smaller size device completely different specs uh sven hebneck says green's joe paul my dad has an iphone 4 as well is this a dad thing i'm a dad and i don't have an iphone 4. umer massoud asks i would like to know about the video editing i could never do that my current phone you could dad edits video on his iphone 4 so if you can do it on a four you can do it on your current phone because i can't imagine it being much smaller or slower than an iphone 4. i could be wrong maybe it is smaller and slower it could be i don't know anything about your phone i don't want to know by the way it's not i'm not we're not dating i'm not trying to you know learn everything about you uh although it's cool if you want to just offer it up like what you've got um you know in terms of video editing it was the ipad pro that they showed editing four or three 4k video streams at the same time it certainly has enough power i'm sure that if the iphone 4 can handle video editing the iphone 6s plus can handle video editing as well the bigger screen you have as far as video editing is concerned the better off you're going to be the more ram you have the better off you're going to be if given a choice between editing video on the ipad air 2 or the iphone 6s plus i'd probably go with the ipad air 2 even though you know in terms of speed it may be different the fact that it's got a larger screen is going to certainly benefit uh you know the the entire video editing process so i think we've said everything that we might need to say during this unboxing initial impressions answering questions being uh flippant anybody who knows me knows just don't just take me with a grain of salt like don't take me seriously if you take me seriously you're you're doing it wrong um and
