NEW AirPods Update (6A303) is OUT - What’s New

How to Immediately Update Your AirPods to the Latest Firmware Update

Apple has recently released a new firmware update for their AirPods, specifically version 6.303 (a303). In this video, we'll dive into what's new and improved with the latest AirPods firmware update. Unfortunately, Apple still hasn't added a manual way to update AirPods, so you can only do it by connecting your AirPods to a power source and letting them sit next to your iPhone for about 15 to 20 minutes uninterrupted.

To check if your AirPods have successfully updated, you need to jump into the settings application on your iPhone, pop open the AirPods settings, and then scroll all the way to the bottom. There, you'll see the version number. If that's the latest version number (6.303), it means your AirPods have successfully updated to the latest firmware. It would be great if Apple added a button to check for firmware updates and manually update AirPods, but that hasn't happened yet.

The latest firmware update is currently only available for the AirPods Pro second generation, which comes in two variants: Lightning and USB-C. Apple may release this update for other AirPods models in the future, so keep an eye on their website or social media channels for any updates. In the meantime, I'll make sure to update you guys with another video if the update becomes available for other AirPods.

Improvements to Conversation Awareness

One of the significant improvements with the latest AirPods firmware update is enhanced conversation awareness. This feature allows you to hear the person in front of you even when you're listening to music or something else. The feature works automatically with AirPods Pro, which means that if you have your AirPods in your ear and play some music while talking, the music will lower, and the sound will switch to transparency mode. This is a lot smoother than it was before.

Once you finish talking, the volume will go back up on the music, but it's not as smooth as it should be. It takes a few seconds for the transition to happen, but when it does, you'll notice that the volume goes from transparency mode to noise cancellation and then back again as you speak. This is something that's been improved with the latest update, and if you have AirPods Pro second generation, you'll definitely notice the smoother transitions with conversation awareness.

Automatic Switching

Another feature that seems to be improved in the latest AirPods firmware update is automatic switching. If you're listening to music on your iPhone and then switch to another device, such as an iPad, the transition is a lot smoother than before. The connection is also more precise in my opinion with the latest firmware update.

I haven't noticed anything new or improved about this feature yet, so I'll keep an eye on it for any further updates. As mentioned earlier, Apple doesn't provide any information on what's new and fixed with each firmware update, so it takes me a couple of days to notice any changes.
