Champion by Marie Lu

I recently finished reading the first book in the Champion series by Marie Lu, and I must say it was a wild ride. The story follows June, a young girl with a special gift, and Day, the leader of a rebellion against an oppressive government. As they navigate their complex relationship, which is forbidden, they must also contend with the danger that surrounds them.

I have to admit, I've been invested in these characters for quite some time now, and it's hard not to feel a sense of hopelessness as you read through their struggles. The book takes place over two years, during which June's memory is manipulated by her captors, causing her to forget important details about Day and their relationship. This twist makes it difficult for the reader to keep up with what's real and what's not.

When we finally see June again ten years later, she seems to have moved on with her life. However, when they reunite, there's a sense of nostalgia that washes over them both. Daniel, who has been watching over June from afar, is concerned about the fog that surrounds her. He wants to remove it and remember her for who she truly is.

The ending of this book is quite open-ended, leaving the reader wondering what's next for these characters. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed by this approach. As someone who prefers happy endings, I found myself wishing for more closure. However, I understand that dystopian novels often don't have a traditional happy ending, and this series is no exception.

I've read many books in the past year that have left me feeling sad and frustrated, but there's one book that stands out - Allegiance by Marie Lu. The ending of that book was devastating, to say the least, and I'm still not over it. In contrast, Champion ends on a much more hopeful note.

Despite my reservations about the ending, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The action-packed plot kept me on the edge of my seat, and the characters are well-developed and complex. Marie Lu's writing is engaging, and her world-building is superb. If you're looking for a high-quality dystopian novel, Champion is definitely worth checking out.

In fact, I'm so fond of this series that I'd give it a five out of five if I could. The rest of the books in the series are just as good, with each one building on the last to create a truly epic story. If you're new to this series, I highly recommend starting from the beginning. And if you've already read Champion and are eager for more, be prepared for a wild ride that will keep you up all night.

Overall, my experience with Champion has left me feeling both satisfied and frustrated at the same time. While I wish for a more traditional happy ending, I understand that this series is going to have its own unique twists and turns. If you're looking for a thought-provoking and action-packed read, look no further than Marie Lu's Champion series.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi everybody today we are here to talk about Champion by Marie Lou now this is the third and final book in The Legend series Legend is a Trilogy first we have Legend then we have Prodigy and then lastly we have Champion so if you guys are unfamiliar with the legend Trilogy is pretty much about two people it has dual perspectives in it day and June the world is kind of split into two we have the colonies which I think are like the Eastern side of the US technically and then the Republic which is the western side of the US and they are battling and stuff and they're just not happy with each other so we have June she's a rising Prodigy in the Republic which is on the West Side she's going to be in the Army and stuff like that and then her brother gets killed and she is off to find the guy who killed her brother and they think it is day now day is most wanted criminal in all of the Republic these two meet and they figure out things and it goes from there Legend is a great dystopian Trilogy if you guys are feeling a little bit sad after diverging it being over and stuff I think Legend is the perfect series for you guys to jump into plus it's already complete so you have three books to read right away so that is the summary pretty much of Legend So if you have not read any of these books I would not continue watching this because I'm probably going to spoil a lot of it I was lucky enough to get a signed copy from Target so it's pretty cool I how feels for this book I went in expecting a lot because of all the pain and loneliness and despair I felt from Allegiance ending and I came out at the end of this book Feeling somewhat remorse not I wasn't entirely thrilled with the ending nor was I extremely mad about it at all I liked it I wanted more from it and it was just it was okay overall this book was really good it was really good at tying loose ends up this whole series is pretty much about the colonies and the Republic fighting and them figuring out what to do and there's this virus going on now the colonies has it and the Republic and all it's just a huge pretty much big war going on and I liked reading the aspect of that I really liked seeing them go to new Antarctica and let's just all like that was an awesome Place how everything was like a game there even though I don't really think that would work in life honestly that's just me because I would be like June like who determines what actions are good what actions are bad like I would be like who who does that so let's talk about the characters Day in June I myself am a huge June fan I love June I really feel like June is a very smart strong heroin I really love June I even love during this book like I felt like she was making logical decisions and decisions I myself would have made like with the whole day thing yes it's tough she had to make the decision like you know I have to let him go because every time he looks at me he's going to see so much pain in his life and I myself I don't think I could do that situation if I was hurting someone I love pain like that I would have to extract myself from their life because I mean I was causing them so much pain it would be hard to see them every day knowing that I hurt them somehow but then in the long run I'm like d you just do not a bad person she's only caring for you and only cares about you so it's kind of an inter meling like kind of thing that it's just all messed up in this huge tangle of web love I love day and Jun June as a couple I really loved reading about them their struggles through this book and realize they both love each other but I feel like this book they kind of just hurt each other they just kept dodging around the bullet I'm like just be together just be together if you want to be happy be together and it's just tough because with dystopian books there's always like climbing over 50 Mountains for them to be together it's like this is a never ending mountain and it's never going to end about Eden in this book how he made the decision to help out and real and like use use himself as testing to find a cure I really like see him do that and like I liked him and Aiden and I liked Aiden I've liked him since Prodigy I felt he's a good character I I mean I I continue to like Aiden and I wasn't surprised when in that belog that they were together because I think they were they they could have been great together ultimately I love day and June no matter what but I liked Aiden is that crazy for me to say this Champion was a good book will I say it's my favorite out of the series no my favorite is always going to be Legend I just will always love Legend I will say Champions probably my least favorite of the three I just felt like it was a good wrap up but I feel kind of confused and the ending let's talk about the ending so we see that June is healthy and fine now but he has these past two years of his memory like he doesn't who June is and June instead of like you know saying hey I'm June we're in love she was just like let me just make this this decision that you know he wants me out of his life and all that stuff which I don't know how I feel about that I don't know if that was the right thing to do is just to like walk away from him because I I just don't know how I feel about that so that happens and then it's like an epilogue of 10 years later I think they're both like 26 27 I think and they see each other again and da kind of remembers you and he's like there's this fog around you that I want to remove and I'm I'm I'm remembering you and the last line is hi I'm Daniel hi I'm Jun and I was like really that's the last line like I was just like what so it's not as a heart stabbing like Aion ended it's more of just like a very very open ending and I am usually not a fan of open endings I just don't like feel feeling like there's a huge puzzle piece missing out of the series I just don't like that um but I don't hate it because I have read so many heartbreaking well I guess just one recently that the ending was not happy and it made me sad and then I had to realize well dystopians are very very tough books to begin with so it's very rare we're going to get Happy Endings but I mean I'm just myself I want a happy ending of day and June walking away together together saying yeah we're together let's do this end the book that's just me and now I know a lot of people out there like open endings and a lot of people out there like sad endings I for one like happy endings because I've just invested so much time into these characters and feelings and I just want to see them happy at the end cuz they've been through so freaking much already like the crap they went through Dave was almost dying da d da like this whole book kind of felt hopeless like didn't think he was going to die so it wasn't worried honestly about him dying it just felt kind of just like what's the point DA's going to be dying in a couple months anyway like it's just like and I knew he was going to be saved because I just knew it but it was still just kind of left like you reading this makes you sad like the book reading it didn't make me happy it made me sad because day was night day and June weren't together they freaking Republic was falling I was just like everything is literally falling apart the whole book and then we get that little tiny glimmer of Hope at the end I'm like that's not enough glimmer I need more I need more I need like some more like I need to know they'll be together ultimately I I know that J and Jun are together because they're men for each other obviously but I just wanted to see more of it like I wanted them to talk more I wanted them to like go on a date I want to do like another epilogue five years later they're happy da da doesn't mean I don't like the book overall I I thought the book was great I thought it was really action-packed and full of um awesomeness and I really enjoyed reading about J and June ultimately this will be one of my favorite series I loved reading it I thought Marie Lou's writing is great her characters are phenomenal I love it so not ultimately mad about the ending it did end on a happy note but it just left like if there were five doors open in this book no okay there's three door it just left the door very VI very very wide open instead of being shut to me so I feel like Champion is still like not kind of done because there's still that open ending openness to it does that makes does that make sense at all but yeah that's how I feel overall I'll take this ending over Allegiance ending any day because Allegiance ending just made me SOB uncontrollably so I liked the ending of champion I'm just not like in love with it overall I'm going to give this book a four out of five if I were to give this series a rating I would give it a five out of five because I love this series I thought it was great if you're looking for a high action-packed dystopia novel definitely check out this series you will not be disappointed and yeah if you guys have read this series at all please let's talk about it I would love to know what you
