INTERVIEW WITH STEPHANIE GARBER!

I finally got to meet the author of Legends, Sarah J. Maas, and I was really excited to talk about her books with her.

So, I wanted to know if you have a favorite character in each book series, like Legend or Throne of Glass, what would they be? Would they even read books?

Carlisle Cauthon is definitely a reader for sure. He's probably reading a lot more than people think he is, just because he's so good at being stealthy. I think Pride and Prejudice would really resonate with him, especially since his sister is so important to him.

Aelin Ashryver, on the other hand, is not as interested in books, but she has a certain edge to her that makes me think she'd love Sarah J. Maas's Throne of Glass series. It's just so intense and exciting, and I can see why it would appeal to her.

I'm also really curious about Dorian Havilliard - he doesn't seem like the reading type at all, but he's definitely got a bit of an edge to him that makes me think he'd enjoy something darker and more complex. And maybe he just likes watching TV shows or movies because his attention span isn't very long.

Julian is definitely not into books either, but I do think he'd be interested in Game of Thrones. It's just so much about politics and power struggles, which are really important to him.

And then there's Sam Cortland - he's definitely got a bit of a Machiavellian streak going on, so I can see why he'd be into something like The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli. But I also think he'd enjoy something a bit more...adventure-y.

Okay, my last question is about the future books in the world that we've created with these characters - is there anything you can tell us about what's to come? Can you even talk about it without giving too much away?

Well, let me just say that I'm really excited to announce that the next book in the Throne of Glass series will be released in 2018. It's going to be from a completely different character's perspective - not Aelin's, like we originally thought, but someone else entirely.

I won't say too much about it, because I don't want to give away any spoilers...but let's just say that it's going to be really interesting and exciting, and I think you'll all love it. And yes, the world is definitely going to expand a bit more - we're not done with this series by a long shot.

I'm actually working on it right now, which is why I can say so much about it already...and trust me, it's going to be worth the wait.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys it Panna and today I'm coming to you with a very exciting interview and a very exciting guest I'm here with Stephanie Garber the author of Caravelle her newest release thank you so much for being here on my channel with me thank you so much for coming out to talk to me I'm I don't really kinda treat you do you wanna start off by telling us a little bit about what Carvel is about sure Kara Val is story about two sisters who have always wanted to take part in this magical game that learns the lines between fantasy and reality it's ran by the caravel master named a legend and he tells you all remember it's only a game and the question is like what's real what's part of the game and finally after years they get to go to the game and it ends up being a little more than they bargained for caramel is a story about magic mystery and adventure also story about sisters can you talk a little bit about your inspiration and where you through that integration from to write a sister story yeah my sister is my very best friend like growing up I was not the girl I was a girl who never had boyfriends and but I always I always had my sister and we even grew up in like if you were full of boys so I I've always been like non-athletic early girl at Sioux Falls and so I've always had my sister and we're pretty close in age and she's still my best friends there's a younger sister an older sister and the younger sisters not modeled after my sister at all but I drew a lot from that relationship like I and it was the first time like in my writing where I was like okay I'm going to be more vulnerable than I'm comfortable with so I pulled like a lot of the emotions like how I feel about my sister and I feel about that relationship and how he did when I was younger like I was definitely like in high school away ridiculously overprotective so I pulled a lot of like you know what you used to be and so I definitely even though it's not our relationship I pulled a lot of the emotions for that so that's what I poured into that for the story it's really evident in the story to who can tell how much their relationship means and how important it is to like the whole plot and everything I just being an older sister myself too I totally understand that CJ I'm so I get excited when I met you you said your sister was here I was like oh my gosh because I love it when sisters read commandest I don't know I hope they feel that like Special Master the book is packed with twists and turns lots of plot twists I was wondering if you happy planned out ahead of time or if they just came to you and we were right in that is a really good question so I knew I so the game like they're searching for like the winner of the game he went to wish but what I really wanted it to be about as I wrote wasn't the focus so much on later only gonna win the witch or not like I wanted to focus to be like what's real and what's just part of the game so when I wrote like I said months working on the first - opening chapter just to figure out my characters for that and after that my condos like just figured it out who my main players where what the setting was what's the world was and then after that is like okay I'm just gonna write and I kept my I kept it a secret for myself well with real ones a game so for certain characters I wrote out like two different possible backstories like why name this is what their motivation is it's all again this is what they're gonna mention is that they're all real and so I wrote with like two possibilities in mind so I was like trying to figure it out like has I wrote so it kept me motivated especially I need to know what's real in this part of the game and so for most of the book I wrote that way and then it got to a certain point where like okay I need to figure this out because otherwise you know would go on forever yeah so but yeah it's fun it out in the sense where it's like was two different possibilities so I had two different things in mind but I really didn't and I didn't know where it was going to go or how it was going to end up with it I really wanted one of the favorite pages of writing as I some games me was like we need to make it possible for your character to fail and without look at a choice isn't it yeah it's like sometimes like oh you know it's gonna be okay so it's like I really wanted to write this with a possibility of like you know like so I try to leave every possibility open as I grow and not let myself know what's going to happen so that I felt almost most of them karvall has a very like disabled style to it and everything so I was wondering if there were any books that you drew inspiration from this right book move you know that's a really good question I I think my biggest inspiration my start writing was actually like me rather than books like I have authors that I really admire but it was I had been playing around with this idea for like a year and a half at first I was thinking like okay I wanted to be like MIDI home I was like what no and then I was one day watching the Great Gatsby and then you went by Baz Luhrmann bright and colorful I knew I wanted something that felt like that was like so many colors and brightness and I was like that was like one of the big in operations but that that was how I wanted it feel and then I think as I was branding I was reading a lot of books my like my PC fodder and her writing is so beautiful and I was like I think you know it's different for this book like because it is third-person I can spend a little more time you know with description and so on and then like other favorite authors like Bellini Taylor I'm working - I was I love her writing and then although like one of the things I was like daughter smoking but always like absolute favorite thing right yeah so good and in the Freak book I loved that the relationship like between brimstone and karu that father-daughter relationship so like I think like ever since really not part of you know and that's probably even part of why I like the sister relationship I wanted it to be so important to those I want a relationship whereas like and love romance like all for it had previously thought about family young loves you so she's definitely influenced a new elf I'm like oh this is another one this is another big food goodnight easier in shock yes I actually interviewed for slow and he said the nicest person in she's so sweet she's so sweet I had read kisses reception before I started this and I love for anyone who's familiar with it you know like it's princess runs away on her what's the even for wedding and then she ends up needing assassin sent to kill her and a presence who's gonna marry ya don't know who's who yeah and I love that I love that question so I think like as I was brainstorming care about it was like I wanted that I wanted the question of like oh my gosh who can you trust who can you not because that book like every chapter I would like culinary like know it no I don't have to either of them like and so I wanted to so that was definitely that was a huge influence on and just like to Jean about like the points of tension for this book cause I think by doing any time yeah and definitely that was those were probably my favorite influences as I was writing because they're all fantastic book highly recommend all of them and I have before yeah a lot of it reading the work I was really happy to see like a cast obsession well-developed diverse and likes a lot of characters I was wondering if there was any specific character that you really enjoyed writing about the other one um gosh you know I really I loved all these characters i Julian was a big surprise to me um I did not intend to make him a significant character I like that answer that makes him even more interesting except he just showed up you know like I had him in that second chapter and huge and I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but um I didn't intend to make him a significant character but he I felt like he was kind of soul to show so I just kept throwing him more and more to see what would happen so I love Julian and yeah I'm so glad I forgot and then in legend I had a lot of fun creating legend so when I first and I don't think I've told anyone this before I fell casually Olivia so in the book when the book of lessons I'm Marie Lou came out I thought it I didn't know anything about it and I just naturally assumed that it was about a character named legend which it isn't it's an awesome book so awesome series highly recommend so I think like ever since I've been wanting to character named legends and so finally since no one else overtaking no one I was like okay I'm going to do it and so and there's more to it than that but like so I was really excited like you're like okay does this guy think he is and why does he think that so I was excited play my godparents dear - oh yeah hi Julian true this is kind of a interesting question but talking about the characters again if you like the main characters if you were to pick a favorite books for each character like let's say like legend Julian Scarlett aunt Ella what do you think their favorite books would be okay and would they be readers in the first place yeah I had a question yes um Carl is a reader for sure and she was probably okay if I spent more time like looking at my bookshelf or walking around or antonova I might see more but I would think Pride and Prejudice Scarlett really wants to get married yes and her sisters really important to her and so I feel like that book would really resonate with her aunt Ella tella is a reader like she actually is even though people might not think it and the she is a reader which I found out and I think she was probably you know I didn't tell her I think Pal would be a big Sarah J Maas Nia high fantasy hmm I thought she was like yeah I think she would really like that throne of glass series like I feel like but that wouldn't be that right yeah I took she has that like like edge to her yeah like something super intense yeah and so even though she's not like it with the sword or anything like that I think you like the ideas you like yeah I can pick all these people along so you know and and the Suleiman I hope I'm saying that right you know doesn't want to be like chapter can find and tell accumulate fat so I think she would really like that series Julian's not much greater my wins loss yeah I know they've been pleased like he's probably more like TV shows Holly doesn't happen to be attention span for movies so I don't know first favorite TV show totally not something my eyes punky and watching like Game of Thrones is I think something like this like different has a lots of like sanity and politics yeah yes which is something I haven't watched but yeah I have either okay yeah I'm like but it sounds like you totally be a valium a legend you know probably definitely nomination guy yeah you know why he's you're grounded for like a fantasy or anything like I think would be am I don't I stay at hazard okay well II Machiavelli news yep there we go hello visualizes with the kind of look nation yeah but I feel like I could see him pick a mountain up yeah so yeah good question I'm going to do someone someone in the very last question so the book we saw with a wonderful epilogue but it leaves the door very open and it also kind of like closes the book off really well so I mean you can tell us too much about anything in the future but I'm hoping that we will be getting some more books if you can tell us any little bit anything at all about the future book so the future of this world what could you tell in the move that is your question and thank you for saying that baby for saying that that was nothing written off a log I'll tell you that really yes it like doctorates old and so interesting yeah it was is more standalone okay changed it so there will be we change this to open up for a second book and I'm working on it right now and and I should tell you that it will be out in 2018 okay and I want and I wish I could pull more positive but I was the process of working on it and I think I I can tell you that it will be from a different characters perspective that's which I did not expect that okay I got to add I didn't expect it either in the first job it was from Q characters perspectives and then after talking with my editor like no it's this character story so cut out the other point of view and it's just someone perfectly thank ya I'm glad you think about all right guys so that is it for my interview with destiny drivers thank you so much for being on my channel this was so much fun to talk about this book karvall is out now so definitely go get your hands on a copy of this book I already have a review for it I really really enjoyed this book I highly recommend it
