Pepper Steak Tacos

The Art of Making Flavorful Taco Shells with Wonton Wrappers

Tupperware's trick for making taco shells stick is a game-changer. It involves popping the shell in the freezer and then using it next time you want to make this recipe. This technique ensures that the shell adheres perfectly, even when using delicate toppings. To take it to the next level, adding salt and pepper to the spices provides a depth of flavor that elevates the dish.

To create this flavorful taco filling, starting with high heat on the stove is crucial. Searing the meat in a pan without oil creates a crust on the outside while locking in juices, resulting in tender yet still bite-sized pieces. The addition of one cup of tomato sauce and chipotle pepper from the adobo adds a smoky heat that complements the rich flavors of the meat.

Pepper steak is notorious for being tough, but this recipe solves the problem by mixing it with the sauce to create a velvety texture. By cooking the mixture for 10 minutes in its own juices, the meat becomes tender and infused with flavor. This technique not only softens the pepper steak but also creates a sauce that's both thick and flavorful.

Now, let's move on to making the wonton wrapper taco shells. Taking oven racks out of the oven when they're hot is a clever hack to quickly bake the wrappers without risking burns. Simply place two wrappers over the rack, and with the help of tomato sauce-filled cans, create a flat bottom and top that allows the shell to sit neatly on the plate.

To crisp up the outside while maintaining a crunchy texture, it's essential to spray the wonton wrappers with non-stick cooking spray before baking. This trick ensures that the shells are both crispy and even in thickness. After baking, these homemade taco shells are ready to be filled with your favorite ingredients.

For the ultimate taco experience, it's time to assemble our creation. With a spoonful of flavorful meat, we'll fill each shell with toppings that bring out the best flavors. From limes for squeezing on top to cilantro and salsa, the options are endless.
