FD Long Beach Top 32 in the RTR Mustang

The Transition from Zone One to Two: A Lesson Learned by Tori Masayama

Tori Masayama's maiden voyage in the Mustang was marked with a thrilling experience, but ultimately ended in disappointment. As he emerged from outside Zone one, he attempted to transition into Zone two, only to find himself struggling to maintain traction. The car snapped back, and Masayama's day came to an abrupt end. However, despite the setback, Masayama took the opportunity to reflect on what went wrong and how he can improve for the next event.

Masayama acknowledged that he had underestimated the importance of smooth transitions between zones. In the heat of the moment, he found himself easing off the throttle too much while braking, which led to a loss of control. The car's rear end began to slide out, making it difficult for Masayama to regain traction. He realized that in this scenario, handbraking would have been a more effective strategy.

The experience served as a valuable lesson for Masayama, who has come to understand the importance of finesse in driving a high-performance car like the Mustang. He recognized that certain cars are better suited for smooth transitions between zones due to their weight distribution and power output. In fact, he had previously been able to left-foot brake without issues on his other cars, such as his Z or Chaser, but this experience taught him that not all cars are created equal.

Masayama's day may have ended in disappointment, but he took heart from the fact that he learned something valuable about himself and his car. He is now more aware of the importance of smooth transitions and has made a conscious effort to address this issue in future events. The experience also served as a reminder that even with the best preparation and skillset, things don't always go as planned.

The fans in attendance were left wondering what could have been if Masayama had maintained his composure and executed his braking strategy more effectively. Despite the outcome, Masayama's performance was praised by his team, who acknowledged that he had done everything right leading up to the transition. The loss may have been a tough pill to swallow, but it also provided an opportunity for growth and improvement.

As Masayama reflected on his experience, he realized that the next event at Atlanta would require him to be even more vigilant when navigating transitions between zones. He knew that the entry into Zone two was going to be shallower than the one in Long Beach, and he made a mental note to be more cautious and prepared.

In the end, Masayama's day may have been cut short, but it also marked an important turning point in his development as a driver. He has learned from his mistakes and is now better equipped to handle the challenges that lie ahead. The team is excited to see him continue to grow and improve, and fans are eagerly anticipating their next appearance.

The Pit Crew's Perspective: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

As Masayama's car made its way back to the pit lane, the crew sprang into action, eager to assess the damage and make any necessary repairs. The team's attention was focused on Tori Masayama's Mustang, which had been involved in a dramatic incident during the event.

The crew's initial assessment revealed that the car had suffered some minor damage, but nothing too severe. However, as they delved deeper into the post-event analysis, it became clear that the incident had highlighted a few key areas for improvement. Masayama's tendency to ease off the throttle while braking on transitions was a concern, and the crew made a mental note to work on this aspect of his driving.

The team also acknowledged that Masayama had done everything right leading up to the transition, but unfortunately, it didn't translate into success on the track. Despite this, they were proud of the effort he had put in and the progress he had made.

Behind the Scenes at The Pike

For many drivers competing in the Long Beach event, there was no better place to unwind than The Pike, a local bar that served as a gathering spot for the racing community. Masayama, along with his teammates and fellow competitors, made their way to The Pike after the event, where they could share stories, swap experiences, and enjoy each other's company.

As the night wore on, the conversation turned to the incident involving Masayama's Mustang. While it was clear that he was disappointed with the outcome, his team rallied around him, offering words of encouragement and support. The atmosphere was lighthearted, with everyone focused on the positives and looking forward to the next event.

The evening provided a welcome respite from the intensity of competition, allowing the drivers to recharge and refocus for the challenges ahead. It also served as an opportunity for them to bond over their shared experiences and learn from one another's perspectives.

In the end, The Pike proved to be more than just a social gathering spot – it was a chance for the racing community to come together, share stories, and celebrate the camaraderie that defines the sport.

route podcast with Adam LZ that's me link is in the description also I will add if you're concerned this is a thick print we got some color up in there I was a little worried at first but the RTR team assured me they purposely don't do it on the back of the shirt because then it gets stuck to your back but on the front it's actually sick it's got a nice feel to it got a cool look out there you'd be walking around they're like all right back to the video foreign foreign I shut the car off again I saw an oil pressure warning but it was actually nothing to be worried about other new engines just a little bit looser so I Idol has less oil pressure there was Albertson smoke coming out uh that was just uh water leak finished leaving the address um so we took care of that and then went back out for more practice foreign foreign foreign ER felt really good I had a little bit of push on the front end I tend to make a mistake when I left a break and I ease off the throttle a little bit when I really have to stay anymore I think overall though that was one of my best timing and mimicking of the lead from this track I have to I think these cars exist so much forward drive that I have to leave again later after the track where I'm used to driving faster cars where usually I'm trying to enter as close as possible I'm usually I'm usually driving slower cars where I have to enter skills as I possibly can although I need a gap so it's just kind of retraining my brain a little bit now that I got a faster cargo foreign felt great I did exactly what I needed to do a little bit off of the outside Zone one right after the first transition overall I felt really good going in the corner and everywhere else on the track um just gonna go do the same thing and competition and make it happen foreign not that good though the court got shorter because I messed it up can we not go into the first round of blackout would be great yeah I don't know gotta get you got to get warmed up though out oh my God there you go math problems five plus five five times three fifteen damn that's cool right off foreign thank you foreign that's the clarification I was looking for so thank you here we go right now Adam LZ AutoZone RTR spec 5D on Nitto Tires going versus masayama if that find out Japan Sylvia S15 Adam LZ little hamburger pull there masayama tucks in Adam LZ doesn't get all the way out there but definitely looks good got a little shallow on that outside Zone too into outside zone three consistently about the same distance off of all the outside zones let's see if we can dial here on this inside clip a little bit of scrub allowed nasiyama to gain good run there from LZ but you got to think you know he's kind he's kind of he wants to drive you know he has driven the other vehicle now the car he wants to drive is the Ford Mustang so as we see Adam LC run through the course like I said a lot of eyeballs on him how's he gonna do he kind of likes the J you know he's driven s13s srts and now behind the wheel of a big blue oval that is the Ford Mustang RTR spec 5D foreign Mustang he's had a lot of experience behind the wheel of it you know starting off in St Louis Auto Show now here he is he's going to fly the pressure to find out Japan masiyama gets all the way out there Adam has the early transition into the outside saves it saves it from the wall but with that mistake masayama and LZ unfortunately you saw that so masayama continues looks like he will get the win with Adam LZ something might have gone wrong there I really don't think that was driver error yeah watch the transition when he comes out of outside Zone one he Transitions and then it just kind of snaps back almost like a little tank slapper great run from asuyama looks look how wide he got out to the one zone one zone two so what comes out I don't know what happened there we'd have to talk to somebody to see if they'll give us feedback on what they think happened yeah that's uh lucky for him that he didn't end up in the tire wall he managed to slow it down he figured out what was happening early enough and got the car slowed down so well I think you know the outcome of this one I know there's a lot of LZ fans in the building but guess what his day is done so his maiden voyage in the Mustang not exactly as it worked out but still earning his stripes or earning his oval as what Toro masayama gets the win I'm super happy with my lead run I did everything I needed to do super confident going into the chase everything felt good um we didn't look at the log yet I'm assuming probably what one of my biggest issues was was going in on that transition I was gaining on him a little bit and I was probably easing off the throttle a little too much while off for breaking what that does is it it kind of like puts actually more load on the rear because you're using up on throttle and wheel speed against closer to vehicle speed and then pushes the front so I was just talking about Chelsea he says in that scenario I should have handbrake it just sucks because I was super super confident going into that battle um I know that I could have won it but uh because there's the best things you just learned from mistakes you know you've come a long way through practice um and how I felt with the car originally on the track and figuring out kind of how to drive it but definitely not the result that I wanted all right here's here's my new resolution after this I'm never gonna left a break in an FD car if I'm not already set in the corner so I was talking with Chelsea about it a bit and um I've been able to get away with it on certain cars that I own like my Z or my Chaser because I have quite a bit of front grip and they don't have an insane amount of power to where the rear end sets and like basically does a wheelie that's what's happening the cars have so much power that when the rear end gets down front end picks up and you just push so those cars sometimes when I'm like you know driving the homies and I gotta not clip someone's bumper on transition I'll dab a little bit of left foot break to just kind of keep the car where I want it but not drive and get caught up um and you know like I said it's a scenario I haven't been that close in any Chase in practice so I hadn't come across that scenario and now I know and now if I ever do it again you guys have my full permission to give me the rest of my life you heard it here first folks overall I still think I'm down playing I'm still very happy this track has claimed a lot of cars made it through had some fun learned a lot Chelsea it's up to you to take it home now oh yeah the fans probably could if we swap doors I just put one of my doors on your car I need a couple of my partners back on there you're not wrong it'll be funny yeah there we go foreign all right after Long Beach all the drivers go out to a place called The Pike it's a little local bar we all go and hang out so I think I'm gonna wrap up
