3GB GTX 1060 Vs 4GB RX 570 - Which Is Best In 2018

# A Detailed Comparison of GTX 1060 and RX 570 for Modern Gaming

Hello everyone and welcome to another video! In this video, I wanted to revisit two older GPUs that have been part of my gaming setup: the **3GB GTX 1060** and the **4GB RX 570**. These cards were purchased from the second-hand market, and after several years of use, I decided to put them head-to-head to see how they perform in modern and slightly older games.

Today’s comparison includes a variety of titles like *Assassin’s Creed Odyssey*, *PUBG*, *The Witcher 3*, *Rainbow Six Siege*, *Fortnite*, and *Call of Duty: World War II*. I will be testing these games at **high and ultra settings** to provide an in-depth look at how each GPU handles modern gaming.

---

## Game 1: *Assassin’s Creed Odyssey*

For the first game, I chose *Assassin’s Creed Odyssey*, a title that has seen many updates and driver optimizations since its release.

Both GPUs performed relatively similarly in terms of average frame rates (AFR), with the GTX 1060 averaging around 59 FPS and the RX 570 slightly lower at 54 FPS. However, there was a noticeable stutter on the GTX 1060 during exploration and combat scenes, with occasional drops to as low as 20 FPS (represented by the 0.1% lows).

In comparison, the RX 570 maintained smoother gameplay, with its lowest frame rate dipping only to 27 FPS during peak moments. While both cards managed to keep the game playable, the RX 570 edge out in terms of consistency and overall smoothness.

---

## Game 2: *PUBG*

Next up is *PUBG*, a game that can be quite demanding depending on the settings and in-game activity.

Both GPUs held their own well in *PUBG*, with the GTX 1060 averaging 59 FPS and the RX 570 slightly behind at 54 FPS. The difference was minimal, and both cards delivered a playable experience even during intense firefights and large map exploration.

The frame rate drops (1% lows) were comparable for both cards, with the GTX 1060 dipping to 32 FPS and the RX 570 to 30 FPS at its lowest points. For casual *PUBG* players, either card would suffice, but if you’re looking for a more consistent experience, the RX 570 might be the better choice.

---

## Game 3: *The Witcher 3*

*The Witcher 3* is another game that has benefited from updates and optimizations over the years. I spent about half an hour exploring different areas in the game to get a representative frame rate average.

Both GPUs performed well, with the GTX 1060 averaging 57 FPS and the RX 570 slightly lower at 53 FPS. During busier scenes with lots of enemies on screen, both cards saw noticeable drops, but the RX 570 managed to stay smoother overall.

This game is a good test of how well older titles handle modern GPUs, and while both cards delivered a solid experience, the RX 570’s slightly better performance in *The Witcher 3* suggests it might have an edge in handling more complex scenarios.

---

## Game 4: *Rainbow Six Siege*

*Rainbow Six Siege* is a game that rewards consistency, especially during intense firefights and tactical operations.

Here, the RX 570 pulled ahead significantly, averaging over **100 FPS**, while the GTX 1060 managed a more modest **72 FPS**. The difference was most noticeable in larger maps with more environmental detail and enemy activity.

While both cards delivered smooth gameplay, the RX 570’s higher average frame rate made it the better choice for competitive play or those who prefer buttery-smooth visuals. However, the GTX 1060 still held its own and remained playable at high settings.

---

## Game 5: *Fortnite*

For *Fortnite*, I tested both cards on a large map to see how they handled the game’s open-world environments.

In this matchup, it was the **GTX 1060** that pulled ahead with an average of just over **100 FPS**, while the RX 570 averaged around **90 FPS**. The difference wasn’t massive, but it was enough to make a noticeable impact during fast-paced gameplay and when rendering detailed environments.

Both cards delivered a smooth experience, but if you’re someone who plays *Fortnite* at max settings, the GTX 1060 might be the better choice for consistent performance.

---

## Game 6: *Call of Duty: World War II*

Finally, I tested both GPUs in *Call of Duty: World War II*, a game that’s close to my heart.

To add an extra layer of difficulty, I set a **frame cap of 60 FPS** for this test and observed how each card handled it. Both GPUs performed admirably, with the GTX 1060 managing an average of **58 FPS** and the RX 570 slightly lower at **55 FPS**.

Frame drops were minimal on both cards, but as expected, the higher-end settings caused a few hiccups, especially during intense firefights. Despite this, both GPUs delivered a solid experience, proving that they’re more than capable of handling modern *Call of Duty* titles at high or ultra settings.

---

## Final Thoughts

After testing these two GPUs across multiple games and settings, it’s clear that the **RX 570** has the edge in most scenarios. It consistently delivered smoother gameplay and slightly better average frame rates in demanding titles like *Rainbow Six Siege*.

However, the **GTX 1060** isn’t without its merits. In games like *Fortnite* and *Call of Duty: World War II*, it pulled ahead with higher frame rates and managed to keep up with the RX 570 in less demanding titles.

Both cards are affordable options for 1080p gaming, and you won’t go wrong with either if you’re on a budget. Whether you’re team red or team green, these GPUs offer great value for modern gaming needs.

I hope you enjoyed this revisit of the **3GB GTX 1060** and the **4GB RX 570**. If you have any questions or want to share your own experiences with these cards, feel free to leave a comment below! Don’t forget to like the video if you found it helpful and subscribe for more content in the future.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone and welcome to another video now the other day I made a video talking about some great used GP used to be found on the second-hand market two of which were the three gigabyte GTX 1060 and AMD's rx 574 gigabyte edition card today I wanted to do a modern comparison of those two to see how they perform in 2018 with some modern games and some slightly older games that are of course completely up to date and have seen many driver releases and updates themselves since first launching so let's get on with it and talk about our first game the first title of a is the new Assassin's Creed game Assassin's Creed Odyssey and as you can see here it runs pretty much identical in terms of average frame rate on both cards though we did see a slightly more stutter on the 1060 with the game grinding to a halt on one or more occasions which is represented by that point one percent low now I can say that this didn't happen too often but as we were exploring this area here getting into a few fights we did see that frame rate dropped quite a little bit whereas with the rx 570 although we did experience a 1% low of 27 and 0.1% low of 20 the game did stay a lot smoother overall this game though well it is quite poorly optimized now in falsi horizon for it was the RX 570 that pulled ahead here once again although it was a pretty even experience on both in terms of the one percent and point one percent low frame rates now excuse the rather crude framerate counter display throughout today's videos what I did here is duplicate the layer in Premiere Pro and sort of overlay the fraps counter to put it more central to the screen and enlarge it so that you could get a better idea of frame rate I find it the best thing to do when comparing gameplay side-by-side but let's move on to our next title now what you're going to see throughout today's videos most of the time are pretty similar results there will be a couple of instances whereby one card does pull quite significantly ahead of the other but here in pub G it was another very similar experience both the 1060 and 570 with the highest settings averaged around 50 to 60 frames-per-second the 10 60 average 59 and the 5 70 averaged 54 so all in all it was a pretty playable experience with 1% and 0.1% knows that once again didn't really differentiate all that much I'd have to say that both cards offer a pretty decent experience and I might even recommend turning things down a little bit more to say medium but you should get away with playing on high just fine with either of these cards especially if you're using the same pairing as I am which is arriving 5 and 8 gigs of ram now it's a slightly older title now in the form of The Witcher 3 but it is a game that's seen quite a few patches and updates ever since its release date a few years ago and it can still put some hardware through its paces here I did about half an hour of exploring using each card to gauge a better representation of an average frame rate and the average for both the 1060 and 570 was taken during the entire half an hour gameplay period so as I've wandered into slightly busier and dense areas the frame rate did drop a little bit but it was still a pretty decent experience when combining both high and ultra settings here now when it came to Rainbow six siege it was the RX 570 that pulled ahead by quite some margin averaging just over 100 frames per second in comparison to the GTX 1060 sat-7 now whilst both experiences proved to be pretty smooth and pretty decent ones the 570 will give you the better all-round gameplay experience here but as I said that isn't to say the 1060 doesn't do a fantastic job of running things at high or ultra settings it really has been a mixed bag so far in this video but this is one of those instances I was talking about where one card will pull ahead now in what is a complete reversal of the previous situation when it came to fortnight the 1060 pulled ahead with just over 100 frames per second the RX 570 though still put up a fantastic effort averaging 90 the map in this game is fairly big and the frame rate will differ significantly currently depending on where you are so it's quite hard to do the same things on both occasions especially considering there's no in-game benchmark test which I would have probably ran as well and then combined that average with the average gameplay figures for tonight though will run slightly better on a three gig 1060 then it will with an R X 570 put it that way when using a combination of both high and epic settings for the final game I decided to try a Call of Duty World War two now it's an unpopular opinion but this is one of my favorite in the series probably since modern warfare 2 here I tried something a little bit different I set the frame cap to 60 fps and see how well both cards could maintain this although the benchmarks you see on screen will be from the gameplay without the frame cap on I just wanted to show you that both cards can maintain a pretty solid 60 FPS even with the high or extra settings though in both instances there will be a few framedrops particularly on the 1063 gig all in all though it's an ok experience with Call of Duty World War 2 and both of these mainstream gaming graphics cards and that's important to remember because both of these retail for very similar prices on both the UK US and European markets as well if you use a site like bid voice to compare used prices you'll often find that they all end at very similar auction and by now figures too so whether you're tuned green or team red you want the 1060 or the 570 either one will do even today for a pretty decent 1080p gaming experience in which you should achieve pretty close to 60 frames per second even with the settings turned up so I hope you've enjoyed this little revisit of the 3 gig 1060 in comparison to the 4 gig 570 from AMD I hope you found the content interesting today if you did like this video please leave a like on it leave a dislike if you didn't subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already and hopefully I'll see all of you in then next video\n"
