INFINIX Zero 40 5G - Unboxing & First Look!

# Unboxing the Infinix 040: A Detailed Review of Features and Marketing Claims

## Introduction

Welcome back, everyone! Today, we’re diving into the unboxing experience of the Infinix 040 smartphone. I’ve been eager to get my hands on this device, and honestly, it didn’t disappoint in terms of design and features. However, as always, I want to take a moment to highlight some of the shady marketing practices that come with it—because let’s face it, they’re pretty egregious.

## Unboxing Experience

Let’s start by popping open the box. Alongside the phone itself, we have a few accessories: a sleek case, tempered glass screen protector, and a 45W charger. The packaging feels minimalistic, which is great for reducing waste, but thecharger design is something that always bugs me. It’s labeled as “W,” but it looks more like an upside-down “M.” I mean, come on—in any font I’ve seen, a “W” doesn’t look like that. But hey, it works, so I guess we can overlook the odd labeling.

## Phone Design and Display

The phone itself is pretty well-specced out of the box. The design is clean, with a frosted glass finish on the back and curved edges that give it a premium feel. Speaking of curves, the tempered glass screen protector is included, but I have to say—I’m not a fan. It has black borders all around, which obstructs the display slightly. I prefer my screen protectors to be completely clear, so this one might not make it onto my phone.

The highlight of the device, however, is its 6.78-inch AMOLED display. With a brightness of 1300 nits and a 144Hz refresh rate, the visuals are nothing short of stunning. The screen-to-body ratio is an impressive 89.4%, and it’s covered in Gorilla Glass 5 for added durability. If you’re into gaming or media consumption, this display will not disappoint.

## Camera Setup

On the back, we have a triple-camera setup that Infinix claims to be top-notch. The main sensor is a 108MP wide-angle lens with an f/1.8 aperture—perfect for low-light photography. Next up, there’s a 50MP ultra-wide lens with a massive 120-degree field of view. Finally, we have a 2MP depth sensor that feels more like a novelty than anything else. Overall, the camera setup is decent, especially for video recording at 4K up to 60 frames per second and slow-motion videos at 120 and 240FPS.

## Internal Specifications

Let’s talk about what’s under the hood. The Infinix 040 comes with a 5,000mAh battery, which is standard for a phone of this size. It supports wired charging at 45W and wireless charging at 20W—though I’ll get into that later. Powering this device is the Dimensity 8200 processor, which should handle most tasks smoothly.

Now, here’s where things get a bit shady. The phone claims to have 24GB of RAM, but let me clarify something for those who might not know: storage and RAM are two entirely different things. While we do have 12GB of RAM (not 24GB), the phone is marketed as having “12+12GB” of memory by combining 12GB of RAM with 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This is misleading and borders on deceptive marketing, especially since UFS 3.1 storage runs at much slower speeds than actual RAM.

## Accessories and Additional Features

The box also includes a pair of Type-C headphones that resemble Apple AirPods in design. While they’re functional, they don’t offer anything groundbreaking in terms of sound quality or features. The phone’s speakers are another point of contention—they’re labeled as “Sound by JBL,” but let’s be honest: it’s still a phone speaker, and it sounds like one.

Speaking of charging, the 45W charger that comes with the phone is surprisingly compact—almost as thin as the phone itself. It works well when used with the included wireless charger puck, which magnetically attaches to the case for easy placement. However, without the case, the magnetic attachment isn’t strong enough to hold properly.

## Final Thoughts

The Infinix 040 is a solid device overall. Its display and camera setup are standout features, and the performance should be more than adequate for everyday use. That said, it’s hard to overlook the misleading marketing tactics, especially when it comes to the RAM and storage specs. If you’re someone who knows your way around tech, you’ll appreciate the transparency, but for others, this might be a point of confusion.

In conclusion, while the Infinix 040 has its fair share of issues—chief among them being the deceptive marketing—it’s still a decent phone that offers a lot of value for its price. If you’re in the market for a new device and don’t mind doing a bit of research to separate fact from fiction, this could be worth looking into.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome in Fr me I have the infinix 040 and today I go of unboxing along with a quick look at the device and its specifications so jumping straight to it uh let's pop it open I also have off the screen uh this thing that came with it so I'm going to take a look at this as well anyway let's just start with the phone itself now before I lift this up I want to just take a look at some of the BS from infinex which I will never skip the chance to just crap on Shady crappy business kind of marketing practices so this device is pretty well speced out of the box so this just kind of buffles me even more um listing things like NFC and Sound by JBL sound by JBL means crap all it's still a phone speaker so it will sound most likely like a crap and FC almost every phone has it but nothing really wrong with those two where I find it uh to be absolutely atrocious is when it comes down to the 24 GB of RAM so we have 512 gigs of storage which is a decent uh amount of storage and if you look at right here with this tiny crap TX we have 12+ 12 gigs of RAM now to people that know computers um you know that this is just absolute horseshit um and to people that don't know this is an absolute eing scam uh you don't get to convert storage into additional RAM cuz one is called for instance an SSD the the other one r a m Ram now this name isn't there just for freaking kicks of it it has a specific reason it's named RAM and a specific function for that so claiming that you have 12 + 12 is because you don't have the additional 12 gigs of RAM you have 12 gigs of storage which is a completely different thing now whatever storage we have right here that's basically what they convert to Ram so in here we have ufs 3.1 storage now if you ever look at the read and right speeds of RAM and then some absolute atrocious like ufs 3.1 you're going to see a stark difference in speeds which will translate into the absolute stupidity of marketing one as the other it's it's just I I hate this but anyway uh with that out of the way I just wanted to point that out I absolutely despise this kind of marketing because a lot of people won't really know the difference they will be thinking yeah we get 24 let's be honest 12 gigs of RAM on a phone is already sufficient amount of space marketing it as 24 it's number one lie and number two in this specific case absolutely pointless so with that out of the way we can get into the device so here we have uh just paperwork and what looks to be a case and tempered glass okay um and it's also curved the casing right here has a pretty decent design we have this kind of ple uh back right here along with just littleit of plastic at the bottom with writing zero works with GoPro I'm not sure what works with GoPro the case whatever and looking at the screen protector that comes with the device it is uh tempered glass it's unfortunately one of those the ones that has the black borders all around which I personally find to be bad because it obstructs the display just a little bit uh so you have to apply it perfectly and and even then at certain angles it might not like seem like oh it might still kind of get into the way of the display itself so I personally like to have my uh tempered glass completely clear anyway um then moving down to the phone itself let's just pull that out okay so we have very similar design right here with the you know divide though this is not ple this is uh I I think it's tempered it's glass uh frosted one it just has a bit of a divid in color at the bottom with the zero uh being more of a clear not frosted uh kind of writing right here but all looks pretty nice I'm going to have to say that so boting it up let's also see what else we got in the box and we get the 45 wat charger included in a box I can't fathom how they still will use the rever flipped M as the W so let's be honest this is an M upside down that's not how W really usually looks like in any fonts that I have seen so this just kind of always takes me uh but still uh 45 WT charger included in the box is pretty good um and obviously here we also have our cable and apparently headphones too now these headphones are type c and these are very kind of like similar to what Apple buds look like um so there we go dropping that back in here let's just toss that to the side and take a look at the display right here so we have a pretty substantial display right here being a 6.78 in of display AMOLED so we get these Inky blocks um with a pretty decent brightness at 1300 nits and also rate refresh rate at 144 Herz and it posts a 89.4% screen to body ratio along with 393 pixels per inch uh covered with a Cornell Gorilla Glass 5 and if we flip it over to the back where we have our cameras we have a main sensor being 108 megap f1.8 aperture wide sensor then we got a 50 megap F2 .0 aperture 120° Ultra wide lens and 2 mapel depth sensor which just basically just a sticker camera as a third one and with the cameras here at the back you can record videos at 4K up to 60 frames 1080p same thing plus the slow motion of 120 and 240 and then at the front we have a selfie camera which is another 50 megapixel of 2.5 aperture 21 mm wide lens which will allow you to record videos at 4K up to 60 frames and same thing for the 1080p up to 60 frames so all in all camera wise pretty decent um I guess resolutions and refresh rate or recording speeds right here and uh if we go into the internals we have a 5,000 mAh battery so typical battery size right here uh 45 wat of wired charging with the provided charger but it also supports a 20 W wireless charging so that's pretty cool uh we have a demens city 8200 processor 12 gigs of RAM uh with no Expendable storage and like I mentioned before we are running ufs 3.1 storage type uh now if you need more than the um 256 gigs of storage that come with this device you can actually also pick up the half a terab option so 512 with also 12 gigs of RAM uh so there are only two variants of this now let's see anything else that I skipped I don't think so so we basically got through everything popping on the case right here we can take a look at how that looks like and it does make the device look pretty nice not going to lie kind of dig the Aesthetics right here and we have the marking for the wireless charging this could be magnetic as well and let's also take a look at this there we go now this box is very thin it's as you can see the entire box is almost as thick as the phone so kind of curious how the actual charger will look like and there we go so it's just a tiny little puck and it is as you can see very small so let's see if it magnetically attaches and it does you can see it is holding so that is actually pretty nice um this one right here it comes with the device that's pretty cool it is very minimal as you can see so yeah pretty I do like this kind of approach with a super small charger obviously if you have your own charger you can utilize that and this specific one let's see how much what the charging is so this is a 15 wats so this won't be charging the device as quick the device is actually able to charge wirelessly so if you have a better one wireless charger you can utilize that instead but this one is still pretty nice considering how easy it is to just kind of plop it on correctly onto the device and have it charge your phone now one more thing that I want to check is if it also attaches magnetically without the case and it feels like it magnetically attaches just a titsy bit um but that is nowhere like I think it's just trying to magnetically attach to some internals uh but it's nowhere in near strong enough to even hold it so you can see it's kind of like lifting it up just a titsy bit um so yeah um obviously this will work way better with this one as it actually magnetically attaches correctly to this one uh here you don't have any kind of specific position where it attaches so it just kind of like slides off obviously making it a bit harder for you to position it correctly so the case will be a much better solution if you want to uh use the wireless charger but anyway with that being said hope you found this video helpful and if you did don't forget to hit like subscribe and thanks for watching awelcome in Fr me I have the infinix 040 and today I go of
