**Building the Best PCs in 2023: A Comprehensive Guide**

### Introduction

Good news, everyone! Graphics cards are finally affordable again, and components are in stock. This video is all about showing you the very best builds you can do right now to get maximum performance while also getting great value for your money. After two years of waiting, it feels amazing to finally share why this is such a great time to build a PC.

### The Budget Build: Maximizing Value

Let’s start with the **budget build** and focus on NVIDIA graphics cards. For under £200, you can find some great options—though this is still a significant amount of money compared to what it was just a few months or years ago. However, the real deals are in the used market.

For example:

- A **reconditioned RTX 1660 Super** for £170.

- A **pre-owned RTX 1660** for around £130.

These used options provide excellent performance and can save you a lot of money compared to new cards. Just be cautious when buying pre-owned GPUs, as some may have been mined or show signs of heavy use. For now, we’ll go with the **RTX 1660 Super** for our build.

#### Chassis Selection

Next up is the chassis. We’re looking for a **Micro ATX board** that offers good airflow, which can sometimes be hard to find at this price point. The **Lian Li Lancool 205M** is a great choice—it’s well-built and provides decent ventilation for the components you’ll be using.

#### Motherboard

For the motherboard, we’re going with an **Intel B660**. This board is affordable and highly future-proof. It supports four sticks of memory, PCIe Gen 4 for both SSDs and GPUs, making it a solid choice for our build. We recommend the **ASRock B660M Pro RS** as it’s reliable and does the job well.

#### CPU

For the CPU, we’re selecting the **Intel Core i3-12100F**, which retails for £99. While it’s quad-core, it offers excellent performance for gaming, especially when paired with a powerful GPU like the RTX 1660 Super.

#### RAM

We’re opting for **16GB of DDR4 memory** for £49.99. This is more than enough for gaming and general use, and it’s an excellent investment given its affordability.

#### Storage

For storage, we recommend the **Samsung SN570 SSD**, available for just £49.99 with a 500GB capacity. It’s fast and reliable, making it a great choice for a starter PC.

#### Power Supply

Finally, we’ll use a **Corsair RM350x** power supply for £34.99. It’s modular, efficient (Bronze rated), and provides all the necessary juice for our build.

**Total Cost:** Around £563.

---

### The Mid-Range Build: Balance and Performance

For our mid-range build, we’re focusing on a balance between performance and value. The standout component here is the **RTX 3060 Ti**, currently available for £400—a great deal compared to its MSRP.

#### CPU Upgrade

We’re stepping up to an **Intel Core i5-12400F** this time, which costs around £180. While it’s a slight upgrade from the i3, the performance difference is minimal for gaming, especially with our RTX 3060 Ti.

#### Motherboard

For the motherboard, we’re choosing the **Gigabyte AORUS GA-AB550-Gaming XP** for £160. It’s well-built and offers great features for mid-range builds.

#### RAM

We’ll stick with **DDR4 memory** for this build, opting for 16GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Black at £60.

#### Storage

For storage, we’re using the **Samsung SN770 Gen 4 SSD**, available for £80. It’s fast and reliable, making it a no-brainer for gaming.

#### Chassis

The **H510 Flow** case is our choice for this build—it’s sleek, affordable at £70, and provides decent airflow despite its compact size.

#### Cooling

We’ll add an **i-35 air cooler** for £35 to keep our CPU cool during gaming sessions.

#### Power Supply

Finally, we’re using the **Thermaltake Tough 650W PSU**, fully modular and Gold-rated, for £80.

**Total Cost:** Around £1,081.

---

### The High-End Build: Fully Maxed Out Gaming PC

For our high-end build, we’re going all out to create the ultimate gaming machine.

#### CPU

The **Ryzen 7 5800X 3D** is our choice for the CPU—it’s currently the fastest gaming processor you can buy (excluding Intel’s i9).

#### Motherboard

We’re pairing it with the **ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming WiFi**, a premium motherboard that supports all the necessary features.

#### Cooling

For cooling, we’re using the **Corsair H100i Elite Capellix AIO cooler** for £94. It’s sleek and provides excellent cooling for our hot-running Ryzen chip.

#### Case

The **Lian Li Lancool 205T** case is perfect for this build—it allows us to place the radiator at the top for better airflow.

#### RAM

We’re opting for **32GB of G.Skill Trident Z Royal DDR4 memory**, running at 3600MHz, for £127.

#### Storage

For storage, we’re using the **Samsung 980 Pro SSD** for £110—a fantastic choice for fast load times and data access.

#### GPU

The final piece of the puzzle is the **NVIDIA RTX 3080 Tough**, available for under £700. It’s a beast for gaming, and while newer models may come out soon, this card will hold its value well.

**Total Cost:** Around £2,046.

### Final Thoughts

Whether you’re building a budget PC or going all-in on a high-end rig, now is an excellent time to invest in components. Prices are stable, and availability is improving. However, keep an eye on the release of newer GPUs like the RTX 4080, as they may push current-gen cards down in price.

If you’re not in a rush, it might be worth waiting for these newer models. But if you need a PC now, the builds we’ve outlined are some of the best you can get right now.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: engood news everyone graphics cards are affordable again they're in stock and in this video we're going to show you the very best builds that you can do right now to not only get maximum performance but also value for money oh this has been two years in the making and it feels good to show you why now is actually such a great time to build let's first start with a graphics card and we will be looking at the budget end we will go to nvidia graphics cards to kick us off and immediately we have some for 200 pounds and obviously this is still a fair old chunk of money but this just wouldn't have been possible a few months ago let alone a year or so ago but i think the party really gets started when you actually look at the used market a refurbished 170 pre-owned 130. if you spend just a little bit more money you can actually get a 1660 super which will definitely perform better this one doesn't have a box but there are at least images of it in what looks like a more normal environment there are definitely some used deals to be had out there you just have to be careful and make sure you're getting one that looks as legitimate as possible well obviously when you're spending 150 160 quid on a gpu it's not so much of a risk as if you're spending like 500 pounds on a 3080 and then you find that it's been used for mining and it lasts for three months it's still a lot of money make no mistake but obviously the risk is less but let's go for this one for now a 1660 super let's move on though and take a look at some chassis it's a great word chassis let's go shopping for a chassis let's go for a micro atx board and as always i'm looking for one that has a fair amount of air flow which for some reason isn't always that accessible at this end of the market which is quite annoying now this is an interesting one because this isn't a mesh case but this is the land called 205 m and leon lee cases are always built very well and while you don't have loads of ventilation you should have enough along this front panel and the sort of components you are going to put in here it's not really going to make too much difference to be honest with you so we use this for now then of course we'll be needing a motherboard and i'm going to go for an intel motherboard we go for b660 and then it looks as if we have one here from asrock the 660m pro rs and personally i would strongly recommend going for b660 as it is just a way more future-proof boards you can support four sticks of memory for instance you've got pci generation four for both the ssd and the graphics card it's not the most high-end one in the world but it certainly is gonna do the trick and then we will navigate over to cpus for what i would describe as my secret weapon which is a core i3 12 100 f and this chip is 99 pounds at the moment so it is a decent amount cheaper than a core i5 but in my tests that you can actually find in the top rand corner of your screen i didn't really see any difference between the 12 400 f and the i3 12 100 f in most of the titles that we tested and that was with an rtx 3090 ti so i think with your gtx 1660 super you're probably not going to see any difference in any of the games you want to test bar maybe valerian but even then i would strongly wait that they're going to be the same the only caveat with this is that it is only a quad core system then we're going to need to grab some ram and this is ddr4 and here we've got 16 gigabytes for 49.99 clearly the way to go we're going to add this to our shopping list if you're wondering by the way about adding an aftermarket cpu caller there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing that but as you get a stock one in the box and we're trying to save as much money as possible i'd recommend that you just use that for the time being and then just upgrade it when you get a next paycheck we will of course also be needing some storage and right off the bat this sn570 is what i've been recommending for ages it's 49.99 500 gig not the largest amount of storage but it's certainly going to be more than enough for a starter pc and then i believe last but certainly not least we have the power supply and here we've got some co-link ones for around about 34.99 it's actually modular as well this one is bronze rated so it's not too bad for efficiency as well okay then and i'm excited for this because it's the first time i've done a sum up of a budget build and i'm not expecting it to be anything stupid 398 pounds 93 add our graphics card for 165 563 pounds that is not too shabby and you could save a little bit more by going for a cheaper used graphics card there were those 1660s or even like a 1050 ti that is going a little bit older now but if you really want to save as much money as possible there are extra corners you can cut but seriously for a budget build this is probably the best pc that i've put together metaphorically in a very very long time and you know what the good news doesn't stop there because i'm going to hand you over to a quick word from this video sponsor want to win an absolutely insane fully decked out custom tesla well now you can because amaze are the proud sponsor of this video and they're giving you the opportunity to win just that the prize is a custom unplugged tesla model s plaid s apex worth over 250 000 it's got an ultra 60 time of under two seconds over 1 000 horsepower and a completely customized s apex conversion with carbon fiber ceramic brakes bamboo leather interior the works and the best bit about this is that you can also help an amazing cause as all entries support the juju foundation the juju foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of young initiatives and lifting the spirits of those in need and donations can help provide better opportunities for kids from all backgrounds so to support a brilliant cause and net yourself the chance to win an insane tesla head to amaze.com pc centric today thank you amaze for sponsoring today's video right i'm back let's move on to our mid-range build price to performance baby and this bit is not in any way sponsored but they do have their geforce deals week at the moment and the current daily deal is actually on this rtx 3060 ti mini 400 pounds it's still a lot of money but this is at least at rrp but nvidia are not getting away with this because i want to see what the amd offerings are like for the same price and something like a 6650 xt that's not bad actually around about 395 pounds shout out to games choices go get subscribed because they're helping us out here but actually you're still getting way higher fps in gold of war with the nvidia card war zone more dying like two still more even in an amd game look 116 109 i'm surprised at that i think we're going to go with the nvidia card i am also going to step us up a little bit in the cpu department we're going to stick with b660 motherboards but i think this time we're going to go for an i5 so what is the price difference between a 12 400 f 180 pounds versus twelve six hundred quite a lot around about a hundred pounds so in this instance it's worth going for the low aspect i5 there'll be differences but nothing absolutely huge if you're just playing games so let's go motherboards b660 full size atx here you've got prime for 160. i mean this gigabyte looks quite nice though it's quite well built up and you actually have some decent cooling on this let's just go with this gaming x they've lifted that from msi we will also be needing some ram and this is an area where you definitely have to check whether your motherboard supports ddr4 or ddr5 because they are not cross compatible ddr4 motherboards are usually a little bit cheaper and the ram is cheaper ddr5 in theory should have some more performance later on but you've got to pay for it now so personally i would stick with ddr4 we wanted to have some rgb please we can save some money if you are not fast they're rgb pro black rather than the rgb rs which is actually more suited for ryzen we'll move on to storage now psi generation 4 sn770 80 pounds but that is more than you need for gaming this is a steal then we need to look at some chassis or cases h510 flow 70 pounds oh again that's sort of a no-brainer i've built in this before i really like the look of it the white at the bottom i think looks super clean you can't argue with 70 pounds so let's go with that the only thing i don't like about this is that there isn't really much ventilation at the top you can only put a fan up here so if you're wanting to go for an all-in-one liquid cooler you're gonna have to put this at the front of the chassis so on that note let's grab ourselves a decent air cooler and there's one that i actually built with a couple of weeks ago here it is it's the i-35 and it's very conveniently priced at 35 pounds maybe that's what they were going for i feel a little bit stupid for not working that one out then i believe our final component is the power supply and we are going to need a little bit more juice this time especially if you're going to want to upgrade this later on probably a 650 watt is going to be a good bet and here right at the top look you've got the best seller rm 650 i absolutely love this power supply this is 80 pounds and it's fully modular and i believe we can now go to our checkout and including delivery this time we have a grand total of 1081 pounds 39 pence that for a mid-range pc is pretty much bang on the money i think a thousand pounds for a pc has always been sort of the sweet spot the main thing to note and of course the big question that you guys probably have and are shouting at the screen right now is what about the new graphics cards that are coming out well i've already made a video all about whether you should buy now you can find this video in the top right corner of your screen but what is becoming potentially clearer and clearer is that the top-end gpus that will be arriving later this year are going to be very expensive so if you just don't have the budget or you don't want to spend like seven eight hundred pounds on a gpu then it should be very safe to buy something like a 3060 ti because this isn't going to be replaced for at least six months or something would be my guess and even then there's no guarantee it'll be the same price but as we start to go more and more high end the risk of having something that is outdated potentially the same sort of cost does get more and more realistic and on that note it's time to move on to our top end balls the wall fully maxed out gaming pc we're going to start this time with the cpu and i think there is no better choice at the moment for the high end than the ryzen 7 5800 x 3d this is technically the fastest gaming cpu you can get if you're counting out the i9 from intel that just costs an absolutely ludicrous amount of money that in my eyes is definitely not classified as a gaming cpu of course we're going to need a matching amd motherboard we'll go for x570s as these have the largest amount of features but please do be aware that these don't support ddr5 nor psi generation 5. so if you want to wait and grab an am5 motherboard then you can do that if you want to find more information about this and what it is my video is in the top right corner of your screen it looks as if we've got the x570s carbon max wi-fi here but i think this carbon wi-fi max is going to do the job very nicely as for the cpu cooler let's go for an all-in-one as they do look a little bit nicer here we have corsair's h100i elite copelix that's on sale at the moment for 94 pounds you can get msi's core liquid c360 for 130 pounds i haven't actually used this one but that does look very cool doesn't it as the 5800x 3d is a very hot chip we're gonna go with this we will also need a case and i'm going to cheat a little bit and use the one that i have in my personal system 144 pounds but fundamentally you can actually put the radiator at the top of this case rather than at the front which i think is much much better for airflow let's grab our ddr4 memory again 3600 megahertz we'll go for 32 gigabytes this time and here we have again the rgb pro for 127 pounds and e buyers still have not updated g skill titan z neo how many times do i have to tell him this product is not called tident i'm always causing trouble aren't i what were we talking about again power supplies that was it and here you have the thermal take tough power gf 850 for 90 pounds i don't really think there's much reason to go beyond that but in mind this is gold rated and then that leaves us i believe with one final component the big boy the gpu xt the cheapest one they have is 750 pounds and this is going to be very similar to a 3080 and you can get them for slightly less so it's a no-brainer or you have the trinity for 730. so i think it's a no-brainer let's go for the trinity oh overclockers uk with the w they've got a 3080 tough for under 700 pounds bang source it we will also be needing an ssd a 980 pro from samsung on sale at the moment 110 quid no brainer i believe it's time to reveal the price drone well please 2046 pounds which is definitely a lot of money especially for something that in theory is going to be outdated in a few months time but do bear in mind that if the 4080 comes out and they ask for a price of 1200 quid suddenly that's almost double the price of the 3080 you've bought here the only thing i'll say about that is usually the prices on the current generation starts to come down as soon as the new one is announced it's a weird one it's not necessarily the best time to build now but it is a guaranteed time to build now we don't know what's going to happen in the future with pricing availability stock we don't know any of those things so i don't think it's a bad idea to get something if you need it if you're currently sitting on current hardware and it's fine you don't need more fps then don't upgrade things that don't really need upgrading things like ssds they're available for a good price grab them now but graphics cards unless you actively need one i would probably advise waiting a little bit if you do want to check out current pricing on any of these components including us pricing you can find that link to my amazon affiliate links listed down below but let me know your thoughts on these builds what have i done right what have i done wrong what have you got in yours i'd love to hear from you smash that like button get yourself subscribed and i'll catch you in the next one thank you for watching yougood news everyone graphics cards are affordable again they're in stock and in going to do the job very nicely as for the cpu cooler let's go for an all-in-one as they do look a little bit nicer here we have corsair's h100i elite copelix that's on sale at the moment for 94 pounds you can get msi's core liquid c360 for 130 pounds i haven't actually used this one but that does look very cool doesn't it as the 5800x 3d is a very hot chip we're gonna go with this we will also need a case and i'm going to cheat a little bit and use the one that i have in my personal system 144 pounds but fundamentally you can actually put the radiator at the top of this case rather than at the front which i think is much much better for airflow let's grab our ddr4 memory again 3600 megahertz we'll go for 32 gigabytes this time and here we have again the rgb pro for 127 pounds and e buyers still have not updated g skill titan z neo how many times do i have to tell him this product is not called tident i'm always causing trouble aren't i what were we talking about again power supplies that was it and here you have the thermal take tough power gf 850 for 90 pounds i don't really think there's much reason to go beyond that but in mind this is gold rated and then that leaves us i believe with one final component the big boy the gpu xt the cheapest one they have is 750 pounds and this is going to be very similar to a 3080 and you can get them for slightly less so it's a no-brainer or you have the trinity for 730. so i think it's a no-brainer let's go for the trinity oh overclockers uk with the w they've got a 3080 tough for under 700 pounds bang source it we will also be needing an ssd a 980 pro from samsung on sale at the moment 110 quid no brainer i believe it's time to reveal the price drone well please 2046 pounds which is definitely a lot of money especially for something that in theory is going to be outdated in a few months time but do bear in mind that if the 4080 comes out and they ask for a price of 1200 quid suddenly that's almost double the price of the 3080 you've bought here the only thing i'll say about that is usually the prices on the current generation starts to come down as soon as the new one is announced it's a weird one it's not necessarily the best time to build now but it is a guaranteed time to build now we don't know what's going to happen in the future with pricing availability stock we don't know any of those things so i don't think it's a bad idea to get something if you need it if you're currently sitting on current hardware and it's fine you don't need more fps then don't upgrade things that don't really need upgrading things like ssds they're available for a good price grab them now but graphics cards unless you actively need one i would probably advise waiting a little bit if you do want to check out current pricing on any of these components including us pricing you can find that link to my amazon affiliate links listed down below but let me know your thoughts on these builds what have i done right what have i done wrong what have you got in yours i'd love to hear from you smash that like button get yourself subscribed and i'll catch you in the next one thank you for watching you\n"
