MASHUP REVIEW [CHICK LIT & LITERARY FICTION]

**Book Review: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman**

I loved this book it was so good I'm not gonna lie to you i hyped myself up personally before going into this book I thought I was gonna write this book five out of five I was gonna fall in love with it I'm happy to say I did good on that because I did rate this a 5 out of 5 and I enjoyed every second of it and I really really enjoyed it this is a literary fiction novel about our character Eleanor Oliphant who is a lot of really shouldn't have the best social grace she's not very social doesn't understand how to be social and in the well we learn more about Eleanor that's the basis of this whole book is learning about her and why she is the way she is and also learning about her past because something big has happened in her past that you don't know but as you go along with the book you're figuring out with Eleanor what has happened and why you're also figuring out that the past is really shaped Eleanor into who she is and how she is and basically in this photographic studio and she's like a financial person and she befriends a guy named Raymond who is then who is in the IT department and then they saved this older gentleman that has passed out on the street and she makes friends and Eleanor has never done that before and she's learning things that she's never you know did before she's meeting people and she's actually going out of her usual very very rigid structure and I really enjoyed reading this I will say it takes a little bit to get into the book the perpetuity pages you have to really understand Eleanor and understand her quarks and how she reacts to things and how she is overall so it is kind of jarring to like read about Eleanor but she is a you know different person as all of us are but you know with any book you have to kind of get into the mind of the character but after you learn about Eleanor and you just see her flourish and see her and you really strive for Eleanor I read this book in two days I was quickly thinking I was thinking about this book when I wasn't reading it I was like wonder what Eleanor is gonna do with this party that she's gonna attend is she gonna feel awkward is she gonna push herself out there she's gonna talk to people you know you just really wanted the best for Eleanor which is why I love this book so much and I also love learning about her past and learning about her heartache that she went through to make her the way that she is now and I love the ending I thought the ending was adorable

**Recommendation**

If you're looking for a great self-discovery book about learning about who you are and embracing who you are and being different from people and understanding that that's okay to be different I would highly recommend this book I love this book I've heard nothing but good things about this book and with good reason like I said the first 50 pages you just have to kind of get used to the writing style and Eleanor as a character overall but still very very enjoyable loved it so very much definitely one of my favorite books of the whole year I just it makes me smile and makes me giddy and I want to read it already because I liked it that much so like I said a five out of five loved it to pieces

**A Different Experience**

But I feel like not a lot happens the whole gist of this book as well of these to decide if they want to be together and that but I just felt like kind of meandered a lot like I felt like it was good yes the writing was good the romantic stuff was good the couple was cute I just felt like it could have had a little bit more Oh in my opinion but I still enjoyed it nonetheless again if you're looking for a really cute fluffy romantic contemporary chiclet read I would highly recommend it but I just didn't like it as much as your mates because I felt like a Burmese had a little bit more plots and a little bit of a juicier plot if that makes any sense then the wedding date but again like I said I still would recommend it a three out of five is a pretty enjoyable read for me overall so don't think I'm like bashing this book I did really enjoy it I just wish I'd had a be like some big plot point that came up but I felt like it really did in the last book I'm talking about today

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone today I'm here to do a magic review for you if you don't know I'd be Matt reviews quite frequently on this channel chilly with my match reviews I take three books what's in the same genre are kind of similar genres and reviews I'm offer you in one video that way I can give you a little bit more in depth of what I think about the book instead of talking about it very briefly my wrap-up at the end of each my post three veries in one video so I really enjoy these I think that's it I think they're very simple they're easy and they're just fun to watch as always I will leave the timestamps down below for each individual book in case you're interested in hearing my thoughts and opinions on one particular book and as always these will be spoiler free so I want to spoil anything for you I'm just gonna share with you what I thought about the book overall today I will be reviewing roomies by Christina Lauren a wedding day by Jasmine granny and Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine by Gayle Honeyman I said these are all kind of the same genre I see these two right here are kind of very Chiclets books and this is an adult literary fiction book so within they fall kind of under the adult umbrella so that's why I'm doing them all in one video of that further ado let's get into my thoughts and opinions on these the first book I'm gonna talk about is roomies by Christina Lauren like I said this is an adult chicklet book and I will say it does have some very steamy scenes inside of it so sure we're gonna go with the age range I would say definitely 18 or older or just know for sure just know that it does have a lot of sexual scenes in it basically we follow in this book a character named Holland who lives in New York and she works for her uncle as like a merchandise seller t-shirt seller behind-the-scenes kind of person of this Broadway production called possessed him and she and she's also kind of obsessed with the subway musician that she hears every single day like she takes a longer way to get to work like takes the subway just to see this musician every single day because she's kind of really into him it's good happens this she kind of has an accident in the subway and he sings her and they learn more about each other and he is actually and he's actually offered a spot to play in her uncle's Broadway musical the only problem is he's actually here on an expired visa so Holland decides hey I'm gonna marry him and he could stay in the States and he could also be in my uncle's Broadway musical and there you have the plot so basically it's about two people that barely know each other that get married and there you go I really enjoy this book I've only read one other Christina Lauren book before and I really enjoy it as well they're not like my ultimate favorite books of all time but they're just a quick fun read honestly if you're looking for something romantic steamy that's gonna make you smile and if you're also in the musicals cuz like I said this takes place within a Broadway musical I would highly recommend this book I gave it a three and a half out of five it was a solid Chiclets book really into Chiclets books I would highly recommend this the one downfall I had about this book was the character HoloNet herself she was very privileged like she was living in this really nice apartment that she really couldn't afford but her uncle's paid like 75% of her mortgage and her uncle's gave her jobs basically her uncle's have literally handed her everything and she's not like she knows that she's been handing a lot so she doesn't treat herself like she's better than everybody else but I still didn't really enjoy that I sometimes like to read you know about a character that really works hard what she does but you know works hard for what she gets if that makes any sense that she doesn't really because her uncle's hand her everything and also with with in Holland she had a lot of jealousy issues when her and Calvin that's the guys thing which is understandable but it was a lot of jealousy issues that guy was like even me I was like okay you need to calm down just a little bit overall I was still really enjoyable that's not to say that that those two points like take away from the book completely but I still really enjoyed it again I would definitely recommend because it's steamy and romantic and just overall cute it's like it's not a three and a half out of five look I want to talk about is the wedding date by Jasmine Guarini this is another adult chiclet have a book that also has a lot of steamy sexual scenes in it as well so just so you know in this book we follow two characters so we get the perspectives of two different characters and there's drew and Alexa and basically they get stuck in an elevator one night and Alexa learns that Jerusalem to this wedding alone and it's the wedding of his ex-girlfriend and he's also the groomsman in said wedding so drew asked Alexa to go to the wedding with him so I don't be so alone and it'll be so awkward and she decides to go with him and of course things happen from there they they develop a relationship and they become involved before another only problem is she lives in Berkeley and he lives I think up north with maybe near la with California I'm not from California so I have no clue how that works out I just know that there far away from each other that they're gonna have to take airplanes to visit each other quite frequently overall again another really cute adorable Chiclets book I although this was diverse because Alexa is an african-american character and Drew was not and I definitely touch on diversity problems as well as in this book and I liked seeing a mixed Rick I like seeing a mixed couple it was just really adorable Focus three out of five it's a little bit less than the one I gave previously no problem with that and the reason why for that is not a lot happened in this book I feel I feel like with rumor ease you have a plot of like these two characters getting married without knowing each other so that's a big plot point with this the whole plot is how they went to a wedding together and it kind of flourish from there well the wedding happens like very early on in this book so the wedding dates kind of already over and we move from there so you're just reading about a relationship which is great but I feel like not a lot happens the whole gist of this book as well of these to decide if they want to be together and that but I just felt like kind of meandered a lot like I felt like it was good yes the writing was good the romantic stuff was good the couple was cute I just felt like it could have had a little bit more Oh in my opinion but I still enjoyed it nonetheless again if you're looking for a really cute fluffy romantic contemporary chiclet read I would highly recommend it but I just didn't like it as much as your mates because I felt like a Burmese had a little bit more plots and a little bit of a juicier plot if that makes any sense then the wedding date but again like I said I still would recommend it a three out of five is a pretty enjoyable read for me overall so don't think I'm like bashing this book I did really enjoy it I just wish I'd had a be like some big plot point that came up but I felt like it really did in the last something big has happened in her past that you don't know but as you go along with the book you're figuring out with Eleanor what has happened and why you're also figuring out that the past is really shaped Eleanor into who she is and how she is and basically in this photographic studio and she's like a financial person and she befriends a guy named Raymond who is then who is in the IT department and then they saved this older gentleman that has passed out on the street and she makes friends and Eleanor has never done that before and she's learning things that she's never you know did before she's meeting people and she's actually going out of her usual very very rigid structure and I really enjoyed reading this I will say it takes a little bit to get into the book the perpetuity pages you have to really understand Eleanor and understand her quarks and how she reacts to things and how she is overall so it is kind of jarring to like read about Eleanor but she is a you know different
