**Driving Impressions: A Closer Look at the Lucid Air**
I'm going to try something new today and see how responsive this thing is so all I do is look down and I see I've suddenly jumped 40 miles per hour yeah there's no engine going hey hey hey hey slow down slow down there is please don't turn please don't turn plea let's pray everyone pray for straight pray for straight just like never mind there's a joke there i know where you're going i'm not gonna make it okay now back on the bumpy road like a like a like an evil dad in the bible south exactly thank you for finishing that i was gonna say just like a preacher you know what this does this car reinforces to me that more high like high luxury cars like rolls royces and s-classes will benefit hugely from converting to ev right because the ride is just that much quieter you're that much more removed from the environment and that's what the goal of those vehicles was all always but they always had a big engine because that was how they announced their power to everybody and now you don't need to do that so now i'm really feeling the road and it also it feels maybe even a little skittish yeah the back just stepped out yeah so let's go back can you go back to the smooth mode and you can just feel how feel how it dials this out i like how quickly we're both able to like you know find the menus find the controls and use them it's all like really all right we're back and smooth well i mean obviously i i don't want to go quite as quick because there's some more wallowing a little bit of the body but it's doing an excellent job of dialing this out this car rules i am a fan i am a fan this thing is great yeah i want to do 500 miles in this i'm jealous of johnny and if i smash oh yeah i mean yeah like what's the difference between 800 and 1100 on a canyon like nothing you know what i mean if you're not running a stopwatch yeah it's still stupid stupid fast i have to say really impressive like really really impressive yeah really fast great ride feels tight no squeaks and rattles no really the the the fitment of the trunk isn't quite perfect they had a reason for it they said they wanted it so that if someone slams it really hard it doesn't come into contact i'm not sure if that was a pr person making an excuse or not uh because they brought three lucids up here right now and they're not exactly the same but this is a pre-pro model so i'll wait just a little bit and you know a slightly off paddle gap on the trunk of a pretty deeply pre-production car that's the first car from a new company i'll give them a little slack it's not like they've been building cars for 15 years and the panel gaps still suck right um but because otherwise super impressive super impressive really really nice really slick product really clean design comfortable spacious stupid fast handles well rides beautifully works with the charging network you get three years of free electrifying america charging pretty good stuff what's crazy to me is the spread like the base lucid is 80 grand yeah and this one's like 180 yeah i mean 170 170 so almost a hundred thousand dollars depending on what options you get you get more range more power more features all that stuff but actually we were told it's not that many more features it's really the size of the battery pack and the power of the motors yeah and the fact that the base model only has one the base model's rear wheel drive with a smaller battery and like a 300 and something mile range this is all-wheel drive big battery you know 118 kilowatt hour battery it's like 580 range yeah something like that so um you know that's may or may not be worth it what we were told is that the fundamental experience of the cheaper car would be just like the one of the which which which make sure you try the yeah that's true that's great because this is really nice yeah a lot of really well thought out design here so yeah thank you to the folks at lucid for letting us have a go uh i know it it seemed like maybe a little bit of a less than ideal day with the rain and everything but hey i think if if this thing does that well on a very wet road i think it would be as a do well in anything yeah this is great um thanks you guys for watching i know this video is a little longer than normal but it's worth it because it's a brand new car from a brand new company and we had a lot to go over and we'll see you next time bye and remember always fight your tickets use code tst 10 on the off the record app available in the android and ios store or go to offtherecord.com
**First Impressions of the Lucid Air**
The moment I got behind the wheel of the Lucid Air, I was struck by its impressive acceleration. Without any preconceptions, I simply started the car and accelerated. To my surprise, I felt a surge of power that left me questioning what I had just experienced. The speedometer climbed quickly, and before I knew it, I had reached an astonishing 40 miles per hour in mere seconds.
The Air's handling is remarkably smooth and responsive, with little to no lag or hesitation between pedal inputs. It's clear that the engineers at Lucid have prioritized performance, making the most of their electric powertrain. I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement as I accelerated through the winding roads, feeling like I was gliding across the asphalt.
One aspect that caught my attention is the car's ability to dampen out bumps and irregularities on the road. The ride quality is silky smooth, with minimal wallowing or floatation. This suggests that the Air has a well-tuned suspension system, which will help to provide a comfortable driving experience for passengers.
As I continued to explore the Air, I noticed some minor imperfections in its fitment and build quality. Specifically, there were slight gaps between the doors and the body of the car, although these are unlikely to be major issues given the car's pre-production status.
In contrast to many other electric vehicles on the market, the Lucid Air appears to have a more mature design language. The exterior is sleek and sophisticated, with clean lines and minimal ornamentation. This approach has resulted in a vehicle that looks both elegant and futuristic.
The interior of the Air is equally impressive, featuring a lavish array of premium materials and features. The dashboard is remarkably intuitive, with an elegant infotainment system that responds quickly to inputs. Overall, I was impressed by the level of detail and attention to design that has gone into creating this car's interior.
**Key Features and Technical Specifications**
The Lucid Air is powered by a range of electric powertrains, including options up to 1,080 horsepower. The base model features all-wheel drive with a smaller battery pack and a 300-mile driving range, while higher-trim models offer larger batteries and improved performance.
One notable feature of the Air is its advanced charging system, which includes three Level 2 charging ports and an optional high-speed charger capable of delivering 350 kilowatts. This allows owners to recharge their cars at home or in public charging stations using a variety of charging modes.
**Conclusion**
The Lucid Air represents a significant milestone for electric vehicles, offering an impressive blend of performance, luxury, and sustainability. Its advanced features and technical specifications make it a compelling choice for those seeking a high-performance electric car that also offers exceptional comfort and convenience.
While there are some minor imperfections in the Air's build quality and fitment, these are relatively minor issues given the car's pre-production status. Overall, I'm excited to see where Lucid takes this innovative vehicle and how it compares to other high-end electric cars on the market.
**Will You Want One?**
The answer to that question depends on your priorities as a buyer. If you're looking for a high-performance electric car with luxurious amenities and advanced features, the Lucid Air may be worth considering. However, if budget is a concern or you prioritize range above all else, you may want to explore other options.
Regardless of whether the Lucid Air becomes available in your local market or not, it's clear that this car has been designed to make a statement. Its combination of style, performance, and innovation makes it an exciting prospect for anyone interested in electric vehicles.
