The Selection Review

The Selection by Kiera Cass: A Review

I just finished reading The Selection by Kiera Cass and I have to say, it was a truly delightful experience. As I sat down with my copy of the book, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. And that's exactly what I got.

Good Riddance to Aspen

As I began reading, I have to admit that I was in a bit of a foul mood. The Selection is written from America Singer's perspective, and I have to say that I found her initial reaction to the whole situation to be quite...entertaining. She's like "good riddance" to Aspen, forgettin' tomorrow anywho, so do you guys know like has as for America I liked her but it and loved her she was 10 I kind of loved her too it's kind of so we're relationship with America for me I love the fact that she you know went into this blindly it didn't really want to go in it so I like that she wasn't very competitive going into it. I liked how she was befriended everyone she met and she was very sweet and nice and she you know that was great. I didn't like the fact that she was just so hung up on Aspen all the time because I wouldn't understand why because he's a jerk but you know I'm gonna love his husband she was so I don't know so I did like America I really did um it's just a whole fact of her even being in relationship with that guy ya know I take the fact i guess i would be in relation with him to is just thought hole explosion thing after i read that i was like mm-hmm no thanks I like Prince Maxon from the start I like Martin because he was a very genuine type of friends and first of all the print so of course I want to like him cuz you know princes are amazing you know um but I felt like he was a very sweet nice guy and he you know really cared about these girls and wonderful he really wanted to find his true me and I love that his relationship with America.

Prince Maxon: A Genuine and Caring Leader

I really liked Prince Maxon from the start. He's just one of those characters that you can't help but root for. I like Martin because he was a very genuine type of friend. First of all, the print so of course I want to like him cuz you know princes are amazing. You know um but I felt like he was a very sweet nice guy and he you know really cared about these girls and wonderful. He really wanted to find his true me and I love that his relationship with America. It was just beautiful. It wasn't love at first sight, which I've always said someone has to have in my head when it comes to relationships, but that unlike you know you need more and depth to that as well. But um I loved that so i really like Prince Maxon.

The Supporting Characters

Of course, no book is complete without a cast of supporting characters, and The Selection does not disappoint. There's Marlene, who was a sweet character every book needs, someone you just want to root for from the start. And then there are the other girls in the selection, some of whom I really enjoyed watching on America's journey, while others...well, let's just say they were not as strong.

Celeste: The Mean Girl

And then there's Celeste, who was the biggest mean girl ever in that book. She was just like one of those characters you love to hate. There's always that one person in every group who seems to think they're above everyone else and will do whatever it takes to come out on top. And Celeste embodied that character perfectly. I have to admit, I hated her from the start, but I also knew that Kiera Cass had written her well. She did what she was aiming for.

The Plot: A Mix of Romance, War, and Rebellion

Now, let's talk about the plot of The Selection. It's hard to summarize without giving too much away, but I'll try my best. Essentially, it's like an episode of The Bachelor, with a country princess competing against other girls to win the heart of the prince. But then there are wars going on and Prince Maxon is trying to figure out what to do in certain situations. It was just a very good book, if I'm being honest.

Overall

I really enjoyed The Selection by Kiera Cass. It's a delightful read with a cast of characters that you'll love and hate at the same time. If you're looking for a fun, romantic read with a little bit of excitement and adventure, then this is definitely the book for you. I'm going to give it 4 out of 5 stars, only because of Aspen, who was just too much for me.

Recommendation

So, should you buy The Selection? Absolutely! It's one of those books that you need to have in your collection at home. Trust me, you won't regret it. Just be prepared for a few mean girls and some drama along the way. But overall, it's a wonderful read that I highly recommend.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhow do you want to telecommute your first book review of the month which one do you think one we shall see um this one I will say was in first place and I was not surprised whatsoever at all and that is the selection by Kiera Cass is it Kira kiara but anyway we're just going to get right into the book and as always I'm going to start by reading the actual book jacket or a book description right here so here we go 435 girls the selections the chance of a lifetime the opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth to be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels to live in house and compete for the gorgeous for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon but for American singer being selected as a nightmare it means turning her back on her secret Louis Aspen who was a cast below her fears competition for crown she doesn't one living in a place that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks then America meets Prince Maxon gradually she starts to question all the plan she's made for herself and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of name up may not be compared to the future she never imagined so let's talk about the plot pretty much it started off with America being selected to participate in what I call the bachelor everyone has seen that show everyone knows the promise of it it's about you know being selected to compete for the heart of a gorgeous guy and that's what I feel like this book kind of is which I don't really watch The Bachelor before I've no desire to but you know this book did draw me in with that premise week I've had and you know it was a good book i will say i did really enjoy like I liked it it reminded me of a lot of things though like The Bachelor also Ron me of the Hunger Games as in the aspect of different cast you know and in The Hunger Games it was different districts you know the higher you just check up you were the poor you or which is simple which is the same in this book um America is cast five and pretty much every cast has a different thing as the hunger game does you know certain districts represent certain things like miners and fishers and all that stuff she was like a part of like the artist type of cast like you know they were like they were insanely poor but they were not even close to rich at all um and so that's that you know I don't mind eating that I love the hunger games um but I just feel like I'm like we can you know not subtly do the same things I don't know anyway anyway into that so we're going to talk more about that so pretty much America is selected and she does not want to get selected she signed up for her boyfriend Aspen because he asked her to and like the fool she was she did and she was picked among many many of other girls and so yeah set in for that we're gonna take a dive off into relationship we're first going to talk about Aspen and how much I do not like him I don't know if there's a lot of of that do like him but I do not like him at all yeah there will be made me spoilers so i don't know if i should put a spoiler warning but I mean I'm not gonna give the whole plot away but it will get some point so I don't know if I just fell ok so Aspen is a great guy he's a cast below um America so he's a 6 while she's a five so he's way poorer than he and then she is he's like a cleaning guy so they're in it they've been in a Sikh religion for like three years no one's really knowing it maybe it's been a couple of years I don't know it's something it's year and some change yeah um but yeah they meet in her tree house late at night and they talk and stuff and at first I thought Aspen was a really sweet guy but then I saw a side of him that I did not like and I don't like that in turn at all so and the point is that you ask what does that happen that you really don't like in that well it's thinking that men have to provide all the time and woman can't I just really hate that anyway so the whole thing was in the selection um I think something comes along the line where America finds out that when may be proposed to her so she gets all getting excited and cooks him a huge meal for him and surprises him and he just goes like crazy on her and he's like you know I don't want you to provide for me I don't need you to provide for me um you know it's my job not yours like like I understand that and understand that for guys but I don't understand the fact that he got so upset about it you know who would be crying of a woman cooking awesome meal she's just trying to show you that you know she wants to put in as much as his relationship as you do and I just feel like that was just like a slap in the face star America like I was like oh that was really harsh maybe that was a huge spoiler I don't really care because I'm just upset about that honestly so I'm gonna say it I was just like any um asked him was just a type a jerk and I was like good riddance Aspen forgettin forget tomorrow any you so do you guys know whether you know like has as for America I liked her but it and loved her she was 10 I kind of loved her too it's kind of so we're relationship with America for me I love the fact that she you know went into this blindly it didn't really want to go in it so I like that she wasn't very competitive going into it I liked how she was befriended everyone she you know I'm gonna love his husband she was so I don't know so I did like America I really did um it's just a whole fact of her even being in relationship with that guy ya know I take the fact i guess i would be in relation with him to is just thought hole explosion thing after i read that i was like mm-hmm no thanks i like Prince Maxon from the start I like Martin because he was a very genuine matter what and then of course there's a lot of the other girls that were in the selection that were just okay they weren't very strong runners they weren't very strongly known in the book so I honestly forgot about that and then there's of course Celeste which was the biggest mad that is mean girl ever in that book and she was just the jerk that you see in those movies that always try to for the plot you know it was just I have a hard time summarizing this book for some reason I really did enjoy this book i'm having a hard time summarizing it I don't know why but it was basically you know like an episode of The Bachelor plus you have a country of rebels that come in randomly try to they actually break into the palace which sounded me but you know that was scary too and there's wars going on and Prince Maxon is trying to figure out what to do in certain situations and it's just a very a very good book I'm going to give this book a 4 out of 5 the reason why it is not a 5 out of 5 is because of that jerk Aspen because I just did not like him so much like I was like I really really don't like you maybe if that I felt like if you know I don't know the ending was you know somewhat of a question there's obviously going to be a love triangle and I don't know who I'm siding with as I usually do with books I always have a very strong sense but you know I just read a book this month but I'm very questioning which side I'm going to go on so I don't know all right next I'm excited to be the next book in this series um but yeah I gave it a 4 out of 5 I really enjoyed it i love the aspect of everything about it I love the cover I don't know what I'm saying left I just this is one of my favorite cover sheet 2012 I have to say but um yeah so if i recommend you buying this i don't recommend you borrowing this from a friend or borrowing from library i think it was one you need to add to your collection to keep it home I think it's very a very good book that you would enjoy so you know go read the selection by Kiera Cass and I will talk to you guys later have a greathow do you want to telecommute your first book review of the month which one do you think one we
