A tour of one of the first Apple HomeKit homes

**The Importance of Privacy and Security in Home Automation**

When it comes to home automation systems, many people may think that the focus should be on the latest gadgets and smart devices. However, at Brookfield Residential, we've always believed that privacy and security should be at the core of our platform decisions. Rather than focusing on what we don't like about other companies' approaches, we've focused on understanding Apple's approach to licensing products for their HomeKit platform. We're excited to announce that our standard HomeKit package includes a range of devices from top manufacturers such as Lutron, Casada, Honeywell, and Ubiquiti Networks.

**The Benefits of a Standardized HomeKit Package**

Our standard HomeKit package is designed to provide homeowners with a comprehensive and secure solution for their connected homes. The package includes everything needed to get started, from smart deadbolts and lighting products to thermostats and wireless access points or routers. Even if you're not tech-savvy, it's easy to understand what's going on in your connected home. Mr. Foley gave us a tour of the HomeKit scenes that are set up, and it was clear that even non-techies can appreciate the convenience and security of this system.

**Enhancing the Connected Home Experience**

One of the most exciting aspects of our HomeKit platform is the ability to add products to the suite of connected home offerings as we move forward. As new devices become available, they'll be added to the standard package, allowing homeowners to upgrade their systems over time. This approach also ensures that all devices are compatible and secure, providing a seamless experience for users. We're committed to continually improving and increasing the connected home offerings for our customers, and we believe that this approach will make a significant difference in the adoption of smart home technology.

**Data-Driven Decision Making**

As we move forward with our HomeKit platform, we'll be monitoring data points and feedback from homeowners to optimize efficiency and convenience. We're excited to hear from consumers about their experiences with our system, including any cost efficiencies or energy savings they've achieved. By listening to our customers' feedback, we can identify areas for improvement and make targeted updates to the system.

**The Power of Convenience**

Convenience is a key aspect of smart home technology, and at Brookfield Residential, we're committed to delivering it in a way that's both convenient and accessible. From receiving notifications on your phone when you leave your garage door open to being able to watch what's happening in your home remotely, our system provides a range of conveniences that make life easier for homeowners. By providing a range of devices and solutions at different price points, we're confident that our HomeKit platform will make smart home technology available to homeowners in every community.

As we walked through the scene, he showed us how everything is clearly marked, so even if you're not tech-savvy, you can understand what's going on in your connected home.

**Convenience and Storytelling**

One of the most compelling aspects of our HomeKit platform is the ability to share stories about the convenience it provides. We believe that these stories are what will create more adoption with smart home technology. By sharing tales of how our system has made a difference in people's lives, we can build trust and credibility with potential customers.

**The Power of Aha Moments**

We've heard many stories from consumers who have had "aha" moments when they realized the benefits of our HomeKit platform. From receiving notifications on their phone when they leave their garage door open to being able to watch what's happening in their home remotely, these conveniences are what make smart home technology so compelling.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enlast week we reported that developer and home builder Brookfield residential is the first to offer connected home with apple's homekit as a standard feature for new homes now we're in irvine california to take a look at the company's first development to receive the home cat treatment which is Delano at Eastwood village Brookfield residential is a forward-looking company that's bringing more convenience efficiency and joy to its customers with his rollout of apple base connected homes we were able to spend time with chief operating officer Adrian Foley take a tour and get more details on the standard home kit package first up we were interested in how Brookfield decided on apple's homekit platform and we really felt for the longest time that privacy security should be sort of at the core of our platform decision and i think rather than focus on what we didn't like about others we focused on will our focus on what we liked about about apples privacy and and really their process and how they go about licensing products that can use apple homekit platform so we also are and I realize this is 95 Mac but also hassle fans so we know that ultimately while at the outset they may not look apples hung it may not look a sexy is maybe some of the other offerings we think that ultimately they'll provide the most security most privacy and ultimately have the highest quality products brought to market the standard home kit package includes legs sent smart deadbolt Lutron's casada smart lighting products honeywell's lyric t6 pro series thermostat and ubiquity networks wireless access point or wireless router everything is very clearly marked so even if you're not tech savvy you can understand what's going on in the connected home mr. Foley gave us a tour of the home kit scenes that are set up and anyone can experience he's taken a tour of the home so beautiful sad moaning and we want to wake up wake up the home hey Siri turn on good morning so there we go we turn on the lights we open the blinds we set the thermostat and we unlocked the front door so now we we've gone through the day and we want to sit down and watch of what's moving and we have a movie set in here pays very turn on TV time so now it leaves the lights on in TV room shut the blinds turns the rest of the lights now ultimately where we like to think this goes is that we're adding products to the suite of connected home offerings as we move forward and as as products become available this really is a very basic level we're activating the goal is to continually improve and increase the connected home offerings for our customers as far as options it will be a standard package that they can modify and add to or is it going to be come up to the homeowner to change that later on it's a it's a standard package just a lot of it's a standard we have a standard package for the rollout of our communities certain community looking forward will have different standard items within within the home but that it's included within the home so in addition to the standard package here at Delano you can Bart you can purchase blinds as I mentioned earlier so you can add those to your standard package as you look for as we look forward and and products become available we'll add them to the standard package as we think they're suited suitable to the to the consumers need there are a couple of situations where we're looking to upgrade your own home at Delano for example there's a ring offering the ring doorbell offering is there's an upgraded ring doorbell that's coming out in and I think June or July our anticipation is if you move in with the base doorbell will upgrade your doorbell free of charge once you do once it comes are there any data points or giving customers saying this is kind of what we're expecting to see as far as efficiency for your thermostat saving you energy money they or lights or anything like that in particular with the package that come standard we haven't for cost efficiencies we're going to measure and monitor efficiencies and we'd like to hear back from consumers on hey I noticed that my energy bill went from blank to blank and that's a that's lady an obvious one I think we're going to monitor more behavior efficiencies okay end and kind of acknowledge convenience is you know not not down too gimmicky conveniences but real convenience is that you that you use joy detail and hey let me tell you about the time that I wondered if I left my my garage door open and oh my gosh I looked at my phone in my garage or oven and I haven't had my kids bike in there as a camera story on ring we're package got dropped off at your doorstep and somebody came up to maybe take the package and there was a video of that person taking a package whatever the whenever the storytelling conveniences are there'll be a focus on energy I'm sure there will be some that give us that feedback but I think there's a lot of those stories today that we're actually we're actually hearing that are really aha moments that that we recognize stories we need to tell to others to explain what we what we envision some of the convenience is some of the anxiety reduction stories that yeah it's compelling stories are what will create more adoption with a solid included homekit base offering and more plans for the future that's bringing more convenience efficiency and joy to its customers with his rollout of apple base connected homes we were able to spend time with chief operating officer Adrian Foley take a tour and get more details on the standard home kit package first up we were interested in how Brookfield decided on apple's homekit platform and we really felt for the longest time that privacy security should be sort of at the core of our platform decision and i think rather than focus on what we didn't like about others we focused on will our focus on what we liked about about apples privacy and and really their process and how they go about licensing products that can use apple homekit platform so we also are and I realize this is 95 Mac but also hassle fans so we know that ultimately while at the outset they may not look apples hung it may not look a sexy is maybe some of the other offerings we think that ultimately they'll provide the most security most privacy and ultimately have the highest quality products brought to market the standard home kit package includes legs sent smart deadbolt Lutron's casada smart lighting products honeywell's lyric t6 pro series thermostat and
