The Story Behind Our Honda K20 Engine Build
We recently took our Honda K20 engine to the shop to have it apart and inspect its condition. As we took it out, we noticed that Fong had previously installed a K series stock bottom and back on it, which we decided to put back together again. This was because Fong had needed the original motor for his car, and by putting the stock pieces back on, we could see what was originally in the engine.
The Motor from Nebraska
After putting everything back together, we raised the motor, which revealed that it had been shipped out of Nebraska without a motor. We also found that our old motor had only 6,000 miles on it and was running at an impressive 500 horsepower. Not bad for a stock transmission! The car had never needed any nose bone stock, but we knew that would change as the power output increased.
The Decision to Build
As we were working on the engine, one of our crew members mentioned that they thought we should put two rods in it or go back to stock rod configuration. However, we decided against it since we wanted to see how much power the car could handle with its current setup. We also knew that if we waited for summer to come back around, we would lose valuable time building and testing the car.
The CSS Block
Just as we were about to get started on the build, we received some great news - our sponsor, CSS, was willing to help us out by providing a block for our engine. This was a huge relief, as it meant that we wouldn't have to spend any more time or money building one ourselves. The CSS block would not only provide us with the necessary foundation for the engine but also come equipped with rods and pistons.
The Goal of 800 Horsepower
With the CSS block in place, our goal for the upcoming season became clear - to push the car to an impressive 800 horsepower. We knew that this would require some significant modifications, including a new transmission, and we were eager to get started on the build. With the CSS sponsorship, we felt confident that we could achieve our goal and make some serious progress in the racing world.
The Future of Our Honda K20
As we look to the future, it's clear that our Honda K20 engine will be undergoing a significant transformation. We'll be swapping out the stock transmission for something more capable, and with the CSS block providing a solid foundation, we're excited to see what kind of power we can generate. With over 500 horsepower already on board, there's no doubt that this car will be a force to be reckoned with on the track. We'll be keeping an eye out for any updates or news about our project and will be sure to share it all with you as it happens.
Milky's Honda Build
In other news, Milky has recently started working on his own Honda build, swapping in a new engine and transmission. With his Emilio roots, we're excited to see what kind of progress he'll make. We'll be keeping an eye out for updates from the Milio camp and sharing them with you as they happen.
The Big Swap
Finally, we can't forget about the big swap that's been in the works - swapping out our current Honda engine for a new one. This is going to be a major undertaking, but we're confident that it will pay off in the end. With the CSS block and rods in place, we're ready to start building and pushing this car to its limits.
The History of Our Honda K20
As we work on our current engine build, it's hard not to think about the history of our trusty Honda K20. This engine has been through a lot, including two previous motors and one ej2 that didn't quite make the cut. We've also had to deal with oil starvation and rod bearing issues in the past, but we're determined to put those issues behind us.
Fong's Previous Experience
We recently learned about Fong's experience with our Honda K20 engine. He had borrowed the third K series motor from us and installed it in his car. We were happy to have been able to help him out, and now that motor is sitting in our shop once again.
The Future of Our Racing Season
As we look to the future, it's clear that this will be a busy season for us. With the CSS sponsorship providing a solid foundation, we're excited to see what kind of progress we can make on the track. We'll be keeping an eye out for any updates or news about our project and will be sure to share it all with you as it happens.
The CSS Sponsorship
Finally, we want to take a moment to thank our sponsor, CSS, for their generous support. Their sponsorship has allowed us to focus on building the best possible engine for our car, and we're grateful for their investment in our project. With CSS by our side, we're confident that we can achieve great things on the track.
