Top iOS 12 Features

**Exploring WWDC 2019: A Fun Journey with Justine**

Hey guys! It’s Justine here, and I just wanted to say how much fun I had at WWDC this year. Not only did I enjoy the event itself, but meeting so many of you guys made it even more special. If you haven’t checked out my previous videos, I posted several from WWDC, including one where my sister followed me around, making it feel like you were there with me! I visited two Apple Stores in Cupertino—the One Infinite Loop store and the visitors center—where I picked up some cool products.

One of the standout items was this beautiful leather iPhone case. It’s a salmon color, which is my favorite shade, and I couldn’t resist getting one for myself. But here’s the catch—it was displayed right next to an electric blue case, which happened to be Jenna’s favorite color. So, in a gesture of love, I got us matching cases! To top it off, I also picked up matching Apple Watch bands as a thoughtful gift for Jenna, who had been filming me all day.

While at the Apple Store, I stumbled upon the new Apple Watch band I purchased. It’s stunning, and I’m already planning to get my nails painted in the same salmon shade. Speaking of which, I think I’ll go ahead and do that—why not?

**Discovering iOS 12: A Stable and Exciting Update**

I also installed the iOS 12 beta, and wow, it’s been a game-changer so far. Usually, the first iteration of a new iOS can be quite unstable, but this one has been nothing short of impressive. One feature that’s already made my life easier is group notifications. For instance, when Jenna texts me multiple times, I can now see all her messages in one consolidated view by clicking on the three dots next to her name. It’s incredibly convenient!

The new Memoji and Animoji features are pure joy! Creating these has been so much fun. My latest creations include a tiger, koala bear, and even a T-Rex—though Jenna still hasn’t forgiven me for bringing up *Jurassic World* with the park long gone. The tongue detection feature in Animojis is another highlight; it’s hilarious because, let’s be honest, we’ve all stuck our tongues out without any reaction before. Now, it’s finally getting the recognition it deserves!

**The Camera App and New Features**

I also noticed some changes to the camera app. Previously, clicking on it would take me directly to my photo library, but now I have to manually tap a small icon for that. While it’s a minor inconvenience, it’s not too bad overall. One of my favorite new features is the improved stability and speed in iOS 12. The camera swipe is up to 75% faster, and the keyboard display is 50% quicker. App launches are also twice as fast under heavy workloads, which is great for multitasking.

Another feature I’m excited about is FaceTime, which now supports up to 32 participants. Although I don’t have 32 friends with iOS 12 installed yet, it’s something we’ll definitely explore in the future. The updated Photos app is another gem, offering better search suggestions and categorization. Did you know you can search for specific types of photos like selfies or bursts? I discovered I have over 1500 pictures of dogs on my iPhone—clearly, I’m a dog lover at heart!

**Screen Time: A Reality Check**

Speaking of which, I’ve been using the Screen Time feature to track my phone usage. It’s eye-opening! Today alone, I spent five hours and 44 minutes on my device. Breaking it down, I was in messages for an hour and 19 minutes, social networking for 35 minutes, and on Twitter for 29 minutes. The rest of the time was spread across other apps. It’s a bit scary to see how much time I spend glued to my phone, especially when you factor in all the pickups—277 times today alone! I even took a nap from 5 PM to 6 PM, which explains the lull in activity.

**Shortcuts and Siri: Enhancing Productivity**

I’m also excited about Siri shortcuts. With this feature, I can automate tasks like sending texts or adjusting my home settings. For example, if I tell Siri I’m on my way home, it can text my sister, turn on the lights, and adjust the thermostat—all hands-free! While I haven’t had much time to explore this yet, I’m sure it’s going to be a game-changer once I dive deeper into it.

**Looking Ahead: More Features and Fun**

I didn’t get a chance to try out the watchOS 5 beta since I forgot my Apple Watch during yoga today. But I’m excited about the new gym kit features, like tracking yoga and hiking activities. The walkie-talkie feature on the Apple Watch is also something I can’t wait to try—it’s going to be so much fun!

In conclusion, iOS 12 has a lot to offer, from stability improvements to fun new features like Memoji and Animoji. If you haven’t installed it yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Just remember that beta software might not be for everyone, but if you have an Apple Developer account, you can download the profile needed to install beta versions.

Thank you all for watching, and I’ll see you in my next video!
