The Power of HTML Files: Unlocking Potential with Media Looper in OBS Studio
As a seasoned streamer and OBS Studio expert, I am excited to share with you a recently implemented feature that has been making waves in the streaming community. The ability to use HTML files as sources in OBS Studio unlocks a ton of potential functionality that we are only scratching the surface of. And, if you're like me, you've been waiting for this feature for a long time. In this article, we'll dive into the world of Media Looper and explore how it can revolutionize your streaming setup.
Media Looper: A Game-Changer for Streamers
I'm thrilled to announce that Media Looper has just been released as a free resource by our sponsor, Nerd or Die. This plugin is specifically designed for OBS Studio and StreamLabs OBS, and it's going to change the way you think about graphics and animations in your streams. With Media Looper, you can take any combination of WEBM, MP4, PNG, JPEG, GIF, and SVG graphics and clips and loop them in your streaming software. This means that you can create complex animations and effects without needing to manually set up a timed loop or remember to press a button on your stream deck.
What Sets Media Looper Apart
I've been looking for a plugin or script like Media Looper for a long time, especially after seeing Kitboga's minimal lower-thirds with a tiny little badge that alternates to showcase his social media profile. I even asked the people at Nerd or Die if they had found one, but there wasn't any sign of it being publicly available. So, when I heard about Media Looper, I was excited to try it out. And let me tell you, it's a game-changer.
How to Use Media Looper
Using Media Looper is easy peasy. All you need to do is download the package from their website, which gives you a zip file that you can extract to your local drive. Open up the folder and find the Media folder, which comes with some default lower-third assets already in there as an example. From there, you can start exploring all the different options and features that Media Looper has to offer.
The Future of Streaming: Unlocking Potential with HTML Files
I truly believe that this feature is just the beginning of a new era in streaming software. With the ability to use HTML files as sources, we're unlocking a ton of potential functionality that will take our streams to the next level. I'm excited to see what the next couple years will bring and how tools like Media Looper will continue to evolve and improve.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Media Looper is an exciting new tool that's going to change the way you think about graphics and animations in your streams. With its ability to loop any combination of graphics and clips, it's a must-have for any serious streamer. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enWhat if I told you a specific feature I wantedmade for OBS and StreamLabs OBS for a LONGtime was implemented recently, and only requireda HTML file?Using HTML files as sources in OBS Studiounlocks a ton of potential functionality thatI think we're only scratching the surfaceof so far, and I think the next couple yearswill see an explosion of tools built thisway.I'm EposVox, the Stream Professor, and I'vemade countless tutorials on streaming andOBS Studio over the years, and we're tacklinga lot more cool creative projects within OBScoming up - so hit the subscribe and notificationbuttons to stay informed.Today we're taking a look at a free resourcereleased by one of our recurring sponsors,Nerd or Die.Shoutout to them for sponsoring this video. This is called Media Looper. It takes any combination of WEBM, MP4, PNG,JPEG, GIF and SVG graphics and clips and loopsthem in your streaming software. It supports any streaming program that canload a Browser source - including OBS Studio,StreamLabs OBS, and XSplit.Ever since seeing Kitboga's minimal lower-thirdsthat alternate a tiny little badge on hisstream to showcase his social media profile,I've wanted a plugin or script for OBS todo this exact thing - even asking the peopleat Nerd or Die if they had found one - butthere wasn't any sign of one being publiclyavailable. So they got to work.To do this manually would require settingup a timed loop multi-action on a stream deckand remembering to press it each reset, andjust a whole mess.To set this up, download the Media Looperpackage from their website. This gives you a zip file.Extract it to a local drive in your system- wherever you keep your stream assets.Open up the folder. The Media folder comes with some default lower-thirdassets already in there, as an example. You can find more freebies in the \"PSD Template& Defaults\" folder - where you can use theones they've already made, or edit the PSDto make your own - or just bring in your ownassets, of course.I used their \"Ultimate Social Media Pop-upsPackage\" for this demo - which gives you projectfiles to render out video versions of thefreebies they provided here, which look alittle bit better, IMO.Place your graphics in the media folder, deletingthe default ones if desired, and give themnumbered names based on the order you wantthem to show.My big complaint about the only real limitationhere is you can't have it shuffle the order.I would like this to display highlights clipsor something on a Be Right Back screen, butcurrently they have to play in order. Not a huge deal! You can mix images, gifs, and video clips, and different formats.Media Looper doesn't care. For video clips, they just play for the durationof the video clip.Images are displayed for 5 seconds by default, but you can change that by editing the imageduration text file in the Options folder.Once your files are ready, you have two differentphilosophies for how they display: Eithera set delay between each file being played,or to loop straight through each file and*then* have a delay before starting the loopagain. That way the graphics aren't just showingnonstop - though there are 0 delay choicesif you do want that.In the \"Loops\" folder, there's 2 subfolders, one for delay between each file being playedand one for a delay between looping all thefiles.Choose which one you want, then choose whatdelay you want. The built-in options are 0 delay, 5 seconds,10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes,10 minutes, or 30 minutes - though you canedit the HTML file and make your own customdelay if you'd like. From there, we just need to add this HTMLfile to OBS or your streaming program. If you're NOT running OBS as admin you canjust drag the HTML file onto your canvas andit will add it - otherwise add a new browsersource, browse and select your HTML file withdelay of your choice, and set the resolutionbased on how big you want it to be.Drag to where you'd like on your scene, lockit in place, and enjoy awesome looping graphics! If you want more sick graphics for your stream,be sure to check out everything else Nerdor Die has on offer.Their new Boosted alerts pack can help encourageviewers to get a sub train going, and theyhave full layouts packages to fit any style. They're high quality, customizable, and haveone-click setup in OBS Studio, StreamLabsOBS, and StreamElements.Check them out at EposVox.gg/NerdorDie anduse coupon code EPOSVOX to save 15% at checkout. What I really like about the Media Looperis just how easy it is to use, but also howeasy it is to update graphics. At any point in time you can slot in new graphics- such as for merch or upcoming events - withoutchanging anything but the media files themselves.Plus, you can use them for lots of differentgraphics, not just lower-thirds.I'll be using it to showcase highlights clipsand such on my streams over at twitch.tv/EposVoxand here on YouTube.Hit the like button if you enjoyed, get subscribedfor more tech education & Stream Guides.Remember: Be Kind, Rewind.\n"
