The 10 Best Android Games of 2014: A Roundup
In this video, we're going to round up the 10 best Android games of 2014. We've got an amazing selection of games that showcase what's new and exciting on mobile devices.
First up, we have Broken Sword 5. This is an action-adventure mystery game where you must solve a crime involving a stolen painting and a huge conspiracy. The game features a strong story, fun graphics, and controls that allow for truly engaging gameplay. The full story takes place over two episodes that are available as separate purchases, but most gamers don't seem to mind because these games Rock a 4.5 and 4.6 out of five ratings respectively.
Next, we have FIFA 15. This is this year's mobile version of the popular football soccer series produced by EA Sports. The game features improved graphics and gameplay over last year's release, as well as updated rosters and more stuff to do. However, it's true that EA has put a number of in-app purchases in this title, which is a shame. Nevertheless, there are few sports games released this year that can compete with the complete experience that FIFA 15 provides.
Moving on, we have Final Fantasy 6, which was released earlier this year as a remake. The game received a graphic overhaul and some unique touch controls, but the storyline remained relatively unchanged. This is an RPG with 35 to 40 hours of gameplay featuring an amazing storyline along with some extra content like bonus dungeons, extra magic, extra items, and more. It's considered one of the best JRPG titles of all time, and now it's on Android.
Next up, we have Five Nights at Freddy's 1 and 2, which provided an experience unlike any other. You play as a security guard who has to keep watch over a pizzeria that is haunted at night by possessed animatronic robots. To keep from being killed by them, you must dress up like one whenever they see you. It's creepy and it's brilliant.
We also have Goat Simulator, a game that took PC by storm some time ago and did much the same on Android earlier this year. In this game, you play the totally realistic life of a goat as you fly around, crash through walls, blow things up, and cause general mayhem. The game single-handedly brought back the phrase "It's not a bug, it's a feature" in a way few developers could ever match.
Another standout title is Kingdom Rush Origins, which is a tower defense game that is the prequel to the original two Kingdom Rush titles. This game seems to have plugged all the holes that the prior titles had, and currently rocks an incredible 4.8 out of five-star rating in the Google Play Store. The game features new towers, new bad guys, and a host of other gameplay features and improvements to the mechanics.
We also have Monument Valley, which was the darling of Android gamers in 2014. This game features brilliant optical illusions and is essentially a puzzle game that has you trying to find and figure out those illusions. The game comes with a simple but dark story and unique colorful graphics. After the regular game, an expansion called Forgotten Shores was released for $1.99, adding another 15 of the most unique levels you may ever play.
Next up is Republic, which is a unique game with a complicated story and great graphics. The gameplay mechanics are unique in that you play as a hacker who jumps to various security cameras to help stealthily guide a woman named Hope away from some dangerous people. It's an episodic adventure, and you can purchase the other episodes as in-app purchases.
We also have The Room 2, which is a puzzle game that revolves around the strange and fantastical world of The Room series. You play as an adventurer who must solve a range of puzzles to unlock things and progress to the next stage. Most items in most rooms are puzzles within puzzles within puzzles, and the clues can come out of almost anywhere. It's a great brain teaser with some sounding graphics and about the only problem is that it's pretty short.
Finally, we have Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which is an RPG from the early 2000s from BioWare. The game features a very long story complete with multiple endings based on how the player chooses to play. There is also character customization support for third-party controllers and even achievements. The graphics and controls have been redone for mobile, and we're no doubt it'll be a classic soon.
