XBOX 360 Kinect Edition Unboxing & Overview

Unboxing Xbox 360 Kinect Special Edition

We're taking a look at the Xbox 360 Kinect special edition today, which comes with a 250 gigabyte drive, a game, and of course, the Kinect sensor. This model is an improvement over the last style, with a sleek new design that makes it stand out from other gaming consoles.

First things first, we have our start here quick set-up guide. It's designed to make it super simple to get your system hooked up and get that Kinect sensor where it needs to be. We'll take a closer look at this later, but for now, let's just say it's a great resource for getting started.

Next, we've got the system itself. I'm going to put it aside for a moment while we explore what else is in the box. We've got our game called Kinect Adventures, which is kind of like a throw-in. It's not going to be a top title for Xbox games or Kinect games in general, but it's nice to have something to try out the new technology.

We also find a super cheap headset that comes with the console. I don't want to hate on it too much, since at least they include one from another manufacturer. You'll know what I'm saying if you've ever been shopping for gaming headsets and found yourself in this situation.

Now, let's pull out the Kinect sensor. It's definitely a key component of this special edition console. The packaging is quite impressive, with plenty of room to breathe around the device. But as soon as we get it out, we realize that it's not actually going to fit in our box.

We're looking at a gigantic power brick that hasn't gone anywhere, which is still a major turnoff for me. I don't need another huge power brick taking up space in my home. Let's move on and see what else we have.

We've got the wireless controller, which is nice to hold and use. The new design makes it feel like all consumer electronics should be black, since that's just how they look now. It's not really a new design, though - it just comes in different colors now. But hey, at least it looks cool.

We also find some Duracell batteries to power up our controller. I always appreciate when manufacturers include these, since it makes it easy to get started with the console without having to worry about the details.

There's a power cable here, but let's be real - it's not exactly worth talking about. It's just a standard cable that you'd find in any gaming console. But hey, at least it comes with one.

Now that we've explored what's inside the box, let's take a closer look at the Kinect sensor itself. It's definitely a marvel of engineering, especially when compared to other motion-sensing technology like PlayStation Move. The new design is sleek and modern, and it looks great on our console.

The first thing you'll notice about the Kinect sensor is its super glossy finish. It looks slick and modern right now, but as we all know, that kind of finish can attract fingerprints easily. You might not be touching the top of the device often, but dust and dirt are always a problem.

Let's take a closer look at the connect device on the Kinect sensor. The dual lenses seem sturdy, and the strange connector looks like it has a stopper on it - we're not sure what that's for yet. But hey, at least it looks cool.

We've also got a new controller to go with our console, which is nice because it comes in all-black design. I think all consumer electronics should be black if they're going to sell well - there's just something about the sleek look that appeals to people. It's not like we need to fix what ain't broke, right?

The cheap headset that comes with the console might not win any awards for quality or style, but it gets the job done. It'll help you get online and signed up for your membership before you have to invest in more hardware. And hey, at least it's included - that's something.

Finally, let's take a look at the front of the system. You've got your drive there, your power button, and of course, all those USB ports. It's like they just threw everything on there without thinking about how it would fit together. But hey, at least it works.

That's it for our unboxing of the Xbox 360 Kinect special edition. We hope you enjoyed this tour of what's inside the box and a closer look at the Kinect sensor itself. Let us know if you have any questions or comments!
