2024 iPad Pro M4 - 90 Days Later

**Aaron Zolot's Review: 90 Days With the 13-inch iPad Pro M4**

In this detailed review, Aaron Zolot shares his experience using the 13-inch iPad Pro M4 for 90 days. From design and durability to performance and accessories, Aaron dives into every aspect of this premium device.

---

### **Introduction**

Aaron introduces himself and the iPad Pro as his go-to device for non-video editing tasks. He mentions that it might soon become his primary device due to updates in Final Cut Pro. The 13-inch iPad Pro M4 with Wi-Fi, cellular, and 1 TB of storage has been part of his daily routine for three months.

---

### **Design and Display**

Aaron highlights the incredible design of the iPad Pro, noting its super thin profile. He is amazed at how thin it is, even when removed from the Magic Keyboard. The nano-texture display is described as "incredible" with great anti-reflectivity and scratch resistance. Aaron compares it to his previous generation iPad, which had visible scratches, while this one remains flawless despite regular use.

---

### **Magic Keyboard Experience**

Aaron discusses his experience using the Magic Keyboard with the iPad Pro. He appreciates how the keyboard protects the screen without leaving any imprints or scratches, thanks to a protective gasket. However, he notes that tilting the device on his lap feels unstable due to its center of gravity, making it easier to tip over compared to previous models.

---

### **Apple Pencil and Accessories**

The Apple Pencil is mentioned as a highlight, with its improved features like rotation and the new squeeze gesture. Aaron enjoys the haptic feedback and precision but wishes for backward compatibility with older pencils. He also praises the thin design of the iPad Pro, noting that the pencil fits comfortably despite its width.

---

### **Performance and Speed**

Aaron emphasizes the exceptional performance of the 13-inch iPad Pro. It boasts a 10-core CPU (with four performance cores and six efficiency cores), a 10-core GPU, and 16GB of RAM. These specs make it capable of handling high-end apps like Final Cut Pro with ease. Aaron notes that while it feels overpowered due to the lack of optimized apps, its speed is unmatched.

---

### **Battery Life**

Aaron reports impressive battery life on the iPad Pro. Despite using it regularly throughout the day and running iPad OS 18 betas, he achieves about 6-8 hours of use. He finds it particularly efficient for browsing or streaming, with estimates of up to 10 hours for web use.

---

### **Durability**

Aaron is impressed by the durability of the nano-texture display. Unlike his previous iPad Pro, which had visible scratches after three months, this one remains scratch-free. He attributes this to the protective gasket on the Magic Keyboard and the cleaning cloth provided with the device.

---

### **Cellular Data and Sound Quality**

The cellular data performance is described as fast and reliable, even in areas with limited signal strength. Aaron also praises the audio capabilities, noting that the four-speaker system delivers great spatial audio and bass despite its compact size. He finds it more than sufficient for everyday use.

---

### **Cameras and Accessories**

Aaron rarely uses the built-in cameras but mentions that their removal won’t affect most users. The front camera is sufficient for FaceTime calls, while the absence of an ultra-wide rear camera is not a significant issue for him.

---

### **Software and User Experience**

While Aaron praises the overall performance of iPad OS 18.1 beta 1, he suggests improvements to the Files app to make it more Finder-like for Mac users. He appreciates its simplicity but wishes for better multitasking options with external displays or apps like Craft.

---

### **Sponsorship Plug: Incognitas**

Aaron takes a brief break from his review to promote Incognitas, a service that removes personal data from the internet. He explains how easy it is to use and recommends it for anyone concerned about their online privacy. Check out the link in the description with code ZOLOT for 60% off an annual plan.

---

### **Conclusion**

Aaron concludes his review by calling the 13-inch iPad Pro M4 "an incredible product." He admits that if he had to choose between this device and his Mac, he would go with the iPad Pro. However, he advises potential buyers to consider their budget and whether they need the latest features before upgrading.

### **Final Thoughts**

Aaron invites viewers to share their thoughts in the comments below and reminds them to subscribe for more content. He ends with a thank you to Incognitas for sponsoring the video and signs off with his signature phrase, "I'll see you next time."

This article captures Aaron's detailed insights into the 13-inch iPad Pro M4, offering readers an honest review of its strengths and weaknesses after three months of use.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi everyone Aaron here for zolot and the iPad Pro is my go-to device when I'm not editing videos but that could change very soon thanks to the updated Final Cut Pro in fact this probably gets more use than any other device that I use other than maybe my iPhone where it's in my pocket all the time I typically prefer a larger screen such as the iPad so I thought we'd talk about what it's like as far as using it 90 days later or 3 months we'll talk about durability scratches the display battery life and more now this is the nanotexture version of the 13-in iPad Pro M4 it has Wi-Fi and cellular along with 1 tbte of storage if we go into settings and then we go to storage you'll see I'm using 178 gbt of 1 tbte and most of that space is actually from Final Cut Pro so this is a really great device as far as just using it the design is incredible with its super thinness every time I take it off of the magic keyboard which I use it on regularly every time I remove it which isn't that often I'm just amazed at how thin it is it's incredibly thin and it doesn't really compromise anything that the previous generation had as far as the design so with its thinness it still has great speakers and everything else we'll talk about that a little bit more but you can see the apple pencil is actually a little bit wider than the iPad itself so it's just an incredibly thin very niceo ouse device and it's something that I really enjoy using now I actually use the magic keyboard to keep it safe so I don't have a screen protector on it but that's because I close it with the magic keyboard and the magic keyboard actually doesn't imprint any sort of keys or anything like that and it hasn't scratched at all so it has this little gasket around it that's kept it safe so you can see there it's barely raised above the keyboard but you can see it there's a little gasket there and that keeps the screen safe from sort of touching the keyboard now that it's got this metal surface and with the magic keyboard I think it's pretty great but one complaint I have about it is when you tilt this back and if it's on your lap it easily feels like it's going to tip over so that's probably my only complaint about the magic keyboard this time around as the actual iPad is set back just a little bit if we take a look at the previous one here this is the other one I used for quite some time prior to this and you'll see if I line up the keyboards here the screen itself is actually forward of the other one so if I line them up the screen is actually large enough forward that I can put my finger between the Gap there because of that the the center of gravity is back on the keyboard and it feels much easier to tip over that's probably my one complaint about the entire thing other than that the overall design and ergonomics is great with our function keys across the top to be able to adjust the brightness adjust the screen not only the screen but also the keyboard here where we can turn on different modes play music or just adjust it however we'd like so if I turn the light off in here let's go ahead and turn that off we can turn on the keyboard brightness here and you'll see it there so the keyboard's nice and bright we have that option if we want to use it and it's great to have that as an option here so with the light back on again I really appreciate using this the trackpad works as expected and it's a little bit better than it was before definitely a more premium experience compared to the previous one my one other complaint with it is the port on the side while they've sort of flattened it out isn't highp speed you can charge with it but it's not super highp speed and of course you have this tilt ability and while the magic keyboard does a good job of protecting your iPad it doesn't protect your personal information like today's sponsor incognitas finding someone's personal information online has become increasingly simple and can reveal personal information you really don't want others to know there are data Brokers trying to gather as much information about you as possible with whole teams dedicated to Gathering and selling your personal information incog helps remove your personal data online so it can no longer be exploited by data Brokers and others within 10 minutes of signing up for incog with my own information such as email addresses home address and phone numbers incog identified 10 websites and had already sent removal requests now after a month they've actually sent 135 requests they've completed 86 and there's 49 still in progress when incog is successfully verified removal you can see everything done in your activity list I used to try and remove this data myself and it takes hours incog does that work for you saving you a ton of time and I genuinely recommend you try it out and get all of your information out of the others hands and back into your own you can try this out yourself risk-free with a 30-day money back guarantee be sure to check out the link in the description and use code zolot to get 60% off an annual plan thanks again to incog for sponsoring this video now as far as battery life goes battery life on the iPad has actually been pretty good with the latest version despite running iPad OS 18 betas and different things like that if we go into our battery settings of course now they give us our battery health our cycle count where I have 36 different Cycles with 100% capacity still based off of this just using it regularly throughout the day I get about 8 hours total if I was to use it completely so if we go back here let it load you'll see the last 10 days I used it the other day for 2 hours and 2 minutes and then you can see 2 hours before that but typically I'll get about 6 to 8 hours of reg use whether that's using Wi-Fi cellular or something else if I was just browsing the web I could get about 10 hours but typically about 8 hours is normal using YouTube and then maybe using it for some notes with things such as craft or maybe just browsing the web sometimes you'll get a little bit less depending on how you're actually using it now before I mention durability and as far as scratches and everything I don't have a single scratch on here I'm happy to report this Nano coded display seems really great as far as dur ability and the cloth that's included really cleans it up very easily so that's something I really appreciate now not everyone is going to like this display but it seems to have held up better than my previous generation so the previous one actually has some scratches on it so if I put this back on here bring in the previous one I showed before and open it up here you can see there's some scratches on it so if I remove the iPad you'll see there in the middle there's a scratch there's a few here and there despite it being in the magic keyboard the entire time time this seems to do a little bit better job maybe because it's actually got this gasket around it as I mentioned earlier but maybe that's why it's just a little bit better this time around again I only use this to clean it so maybe that helps as well and I really like the anti- reflectivity of it so if I go in here it does have a little bit of a matte texture to it it feels a little different and looks more like you might have a screen protector on it from time to time but it's still nice and Rich and Vivid and I actually appreciate this look having zero Reflections whatsoever I haven't found that the pencil actually causes any scratches or anything like that and I've also found that it doesn't have an issue with bending it's definitely more rigid than the previous generation some others have tested that out and it seems to be very very rigid this time around again when it's in the magic keyboard it's going to be that much more stronger or that much more resilient to bending so it's definitely an improvement this time around display brightness and color accuracy is great and it's good for things such as editing in Final Cut Pro so if you wanted to edit Final Cut Pro in HDR you can do that this is just the one they actually include with it so you can have some sample footage here but just zooming in and out everything's super fast and I really want to switch to editing on this I just haven't gotten in the flow of this workflow yet and that's somewhat because all of my footage is on a Mac and I'm so used to that having different footage there and not having my plugins here makes this a little bit difficult other than that I would use this to edit on full time so I'm going to see if I and try and do that a little bit more the apple pencil Pro having rotation and the new squeeze gesture is pretty nice and within notes of course we can use the squeeze gesture and you have some nice haptic feedback on the back of the pencil and then if we just bring it in here we can hover over things select the Eraser or whatever we'd like and it's a great experience we have haptic feedback we have the ability to sort of spin the pencil this time around and that's great but I do wish they would let you use your other pencil if you already have one with backward compatibility but they just haven't done that 100% this time around you can use it with one other pencil but in general you have to use this one and it is a nice pencil but again it's something that I wish they would have considered when it comes to overall speed well I showed you that a little bit just going into different websites they load Crazy Fast going into Final Cut Pro scrubbing through different footage everything is just crazy fast all the time on this iPad there's not really any issues with it here we have a 10 core CPU with four performance cores six efficiency cores a 10 core GPU Hardware accelerated Ray tracing a 16 core neural engine they've thrown everything at this and you can definitely tell it's just crazy fast all the time it has 16 GB of RAM and that definitely seems to be enough we'll get apple intelligence with this and you'll be able to use that you can see here with iPad OS 18.1 beta 1 we actually have apple intelligence it's just really great overall and super fast even running the latest software when it comes to cellular data well the cellular data on this is really nice overall in that it just seems to be fast so if I turn this off here and maybe we go into speed test and we're getting about 20 megabits per second down it just does sort of jump up and down to about 30 megabits per second in 5G that's because we only have two bars of signal and we're pretty far away from any Tower as far as sending data we'll give it just a moment here again we're at about 10 to 15 megabits per second it does pretty well well but it's pretty fast plenty fast to use on different trips I've used it in different locations without any issue whatsoever when it comes to the cameras well those are things I find that I very rarely use if I'm on a FaceTime call I'll use the camera on the top otherwise I rarely use the camera on the back for anything them removing the camera hasn't bothered me at all over the past 3 months it doesn't really seem to be something I would ever use anyway but for those that did use it on previous versions well it will be a little bit of a change or something that you're going to miss otherwise I think the lar is more important and then the regular camera if you want to use it maybe to set a scene for a video or maybe you just want to scan something in a room using some of the different software that's available either way I think it's nice that we have it missing the ultra wide though is not really something that bothers me but will bother some people as far as the software goes well I think this is something where it's a little bit controversial for me it does everything I want it to except I think the files app could use a little bit of an improvement to function maybe more like finder on a Mac that would really set this up so that I could use it a little bit better other than that though I have no issues with it dragging and dropping things moving things throughout the operating system I have no issue whatsoever with this is kind of how I use it just one page here I don't use it with anything else external monitors or anything I like Simplicity and one app at a time go into one go into the next occasionally maybe I'll bring in something else slide up and maybe you could bring in another app if you wanted to use it I do use it like that from time to time but that's only when taking notes otherwise I find that I actually use it just like this one app at a time after using this for about 90 days or so I had some concerns initially about the speakers maybe not having as much bass or not sounding as good we still have four speakers two on each side and they sound great they have resonance Chambers but they've been redesigned a little bit compared to the previous generation there were some concerns about the overall sound quality since it's actually in such a smaller area as far as the overall size of the iPad but it doesn't really seem to be an issue here it doesn't seem like it's much of a compromise it has great spatial Audio Great stereo sound and goes nice and Loud if we take a quick listen we'll go into files here where I have some royalty-free music let's go ahead and go on to my Apple watch here I'm actually in the mode where I can l listen to the overall sound level of something with decb so if we go in here we'll go and press play we'll turn this up so with regular use it sounds pretty good at the highest level where we hit about 85 DB it seemed to distort quite a bit but around normal levels it's completely fine and sounds great I don't typically leave this all the way turned up so that's not an issue but if you just back it off a little bit it remains nice and clear and everything sounds great and base is pretty strong as well so durability wise and usability I think it's great no compromises there this is a really great product and if you're wondering if you should upgrade to this M4 iPad Pro whether it's the 11in or the 13in I would say it depends which one you're coming from if you're actually on maybe an older iPad Pro the first generation this is definitely worth the upgrade if you're on something such as an M2 you won't notice a speed difference necessarily but there's definitely differences with the display being OLED and I almost forgot to mention this does have pwm technically but it doesn't bother my eyes at all so for whatever reason I actually had more issues with the mini LED on the previous generation bothering my eyes for some reason compared to this one I'm not sure what it is I don't know if it's contrast or more to that but either way this seems to be very easy on my eyes for some reason so I'm pretty happy with it overall I think the most prohibitive thing here is cost so with this cost being very expensive well that's the main determining Factor if you're going to upgrade or not I would say if it's a factor at all and you have the previous generation iPad Pro maybe hold out and see what they do next year this one is really nice but the previous generation is just as nice with the exception of maybe the display and its thinness everything else isn't utilizing this power very well but it's so fast it almost feels overpowered just because of a lack of apps but that's not a bad thing it's great that you can use again Final Cut Pro logic pro super high-end apps and they just fly using them every single day so that's all I really have to say about this device it's my favorite device I've ever used from Apple at this point as far as maybe using it day-to-day if I I had to get rid of my Mac I would use this 100% so let me know what you think of it though in the comments below again thanks to incog for sponsoring this video and be sure to check out their Link in the description of course if you'd like to get your hands on this wallpaper I'll link it in the description like I normally do and if you haven't subscribed already though please subscribe and if you enjoyed the video please give it a like as always thanks for watching this is Aaron I'll see you next timehi everyone Aaron here for zolot and the iPad Pro is my go-to necessarily but there's definitely differences with the display being OLED and I almost forgot to mention this does have pwm technically but it doesn't bother my eyes at all so for whatever reason I actually had more issues with the mini LED on the previous generation bothering my eyes for some reason compared to this one I'm not sure what it is I don't know if it's contrast or more to that but either way this seems to be very easy on my eyes for some reason so I'm pretty happy with it overall I think the most prohibitive thing here is cost so with this cost being very expensive well that's the main determining Factor if you're going to upgrade or not I would say if it's a factor at all and you have the previous generation iPad Pro maybe hold out and see what they do next year this one is really nice but the previous generation is just as nice with the exception of maybe the display and its thinness everything else isn't utilizing this power very well but it's so fast it almost feels overpowered just because of a lack of apps but that's not a bad thing it's great that you can use again Final Cut Pro logic pro super high-end apps and they just fly using them every single day so that's all I really have to say about this device it's my favorite device I've ever used from Apple at this point as far as maybe using it day-to-day if I I had to get rid of my Mac I would use this 100% so let me know what you think of it though in the comments below again thanks to incog for sponsoring this video and be sure to check out their Link in the description of course if you'd
