**Aston Martin's New Aluminum and Composite Structure: A Groundbreaking Development**

11 has a new aluminum and composite structure, marking a virtually all-new turbocharged V12 engine downsized from 6 L to 5.2, yet boasting an impressive 600 horsepower and 516 lb foot of torque. The engine produces its remarkable performance from just 15,000 RPM, showcasing the manufacturer's commitment to innovation. Matt Becker, ex-Lotus ride and handling genius, has led the development of this new powertrain.

The Aston Martin DB11 represents a significant departure from the company's traditional approach to engineering. This car is about 80% complete, according to Bridgestone's test facility near Rome, where we had the opportunity to drive an early prototype. The DB11's chassis, engine, and e-pass system represent a major overhaul of Aston Martin's design philosophy.

The experience of driving the DB11 was nothing short of exhilarating. As soon as I got behind the wheel, I felt a sense of connection to the car that is rare in this class of vehicles. The throttle response was excellent, and the engine's sound was both satisfying and intoxicating. The steering response was quick and agile, with a 13:1 ratio that puts it ahead of even Ferrari's latest models.

One of the most impressive aspects of the DB11's handling is its ability to balance power and agility. While it may look like a big, heavy car on paper, it actually feels remarkably light and responsive. The steering is different from what we're used to in Aston Martins, with a gritty, granular feel that is both nostalgic and refreshing.

As I drove the DB11 around Bridgestone's test track, I was struck by its incredible agility and traction. The car's understeer, while present, is not enough to throw me off balance, and the exit traction is remarkably consistent. This is a testament to the development team's commitment to optimizing every aspect of the vehicle.

The DB11's ride quality has also been impressive, with a smoothness that belies its size and weight. On the perimeter roads nearby, I was able to experience the full range of the car's capabilities, from comfortable cruising to spirited driving. The result is a car that feels both refined and exciting, with a sense of cohesion that is rare in this class.

The DB11 represents a major milestone for Aston Martin, marking a new chapter in the company's history. With its groundbreaking technology, exceptional performance, and impressive design, this car has all the makings of a classic. We can't wait to see how it will evolve over time and what the future holds for this incredible new vehicle.

**Driving Impressions**

The DB11 is an early prototype, but it already feels remarkably well-sorted. The throttle response is quick and smooth, with three drivetrain modes available: throttle response, gearbox response, and a third mode that tweaks the car's overall performance. While the gearbox itself is still familiar, the addition of these new modes adds an extra layer of complexity and sophistication to the driving experience.

is db11 is about 80% there they reckon uh and we're getting a chance to drive it at bridgestone's test track this thing is such a big deal for the company new chassis new turbocharged engine new eepass so it's the next the proper next chapter for Aon Martin after so long of just tweaking what they've got you know changing little bits bringing out new derivatives but effectively the same car as you can hear the the engine might be turbocharged but it sounds great throttle response is good and it's one of those parts that just feels pretty intuitive when you get into it you're not thinking it's got much quicker steering response but you're not thinking about the steering being edgy and spiky because it's all just been tuned so well together and you get such an Insight when you come on a day like this of how just how intense that process is of getting every little system to work so the steering is 13 to1 ratio I think a Ferrari for some context is generally about 11.8 eight and the old car would have been more like 15 to one so it is a lot quicker but there is feel look I'm just getting some under steer here you can you can get that through the car but I think initially the the biggest impression is that you get a lot of information through the seat you can really feel what the car's balance is doing through the seat of your pants which is a really nice sensation this is a big old car but it does feel pretty agile it is quite sof in roll initially so you turn and you feel the the body roll build but then it's sort of stabilizes and then you've got mild under steer and then just a little bit of over steer on the exit traction really good you know this thing's got so much talk but it's hooked up it feels good I'm impressed by the steering feel particularly free pass by the traction and the throttle response is good good enough that you feel you can play with the balance of the car a little bit which is what you want from a big front engine rear wheel drive car gearbox is the zf8 speeder pretty familiar quick smooth all those things it always is there's three different damper modes they're still being finalized GT Sport and Sport Plus and they're still they're sort of saying GT Mode's about there but they're not sure how far to go with the other two modes they're getting there and then there's three drivetrain modes as well the same just for the response throttle response gearbox response but for a hack to old prototype it feels pretty well sorted I have to say yeah I do love the way it turns in the body roll is there but it doesn't get in the way and you can just feel the car the steering is different there's no doubt about that Aston that we used to driving have got a real gritty granular feel to them this is smoother this e pass system but there's still detail in it and it just you do feel connected to the car for a big old GT it's pretty good fun I have to say they are on the way to building a really fun car and the engine still it's still worth revving you know it's not like a turbo that gives up the ghost you get the reward if you stay on the throttle it's just lovely through there bit of under steer and then you can just play with a balance on the exit new structure feels stiff steering's just really responsive yeah feels pretty good fun I can't wait to try it properly but first impressions admittedly in a not very real world environment a pretty good yeah it's going to be quite a car this the torque is Mega but for a big old bus I think it is the agility and the sense of cohesion in the whole car and we've been around some perimeter roads nearby and the ride quality feels does feel really good to step on from dv9 so yeah this is pretty good this is a pretty encouraging first taste of a really crucial car for Aston God yeah definitely do this all day to watch Henry Drive the new honden SX click on the left and for the new Alpha Julia click on the right and make sure you don't miss all of our Evo
