NEW DJI Ronin SC Review and Unboxing!

Unboxing the DJI Ronin-SC: A Revolutionary Gimmal

Hey guys, it's Justine! Today we're unboxing the brand new DJI Ronin-SC, a follow-up to the previous Ronin-S that I recently had the pleasure of using for some shots in Montana. I must say, this thing is half the weight of the Ronin-S, and I wish we had it on our last shoot because it's just so light and easy to handle.

The Ronin-SC is a revolutionary gimbal that allows you to capture smooth and stable footage like never before. It's designed to be compact and portable, making it perfect for filmmakers, videographers, and anyone looking to elevate their content creation game. The gimbal is equipped with advanced stabilization technology that ensures your footage remains silky smooth, even when moving quickly or in turbulent conditions.

One of the standout features of the Ronin-SC is its mobile features. It comes with a phone mount that allows you to attach your phone to the top of your camera, and with the app, you can easily select your subject and track them using ActiveTrack 3.0. This feature is incredibly powerful and allows for seamless tracking of moving subjects, making it perfect for capturing dynamic footage.

The Ronin-SC also features a new mobile feature called Force Mobile, which uses the gyroscope in your phone to control the gimbal on your camera. This means you can control the gimbal with just your hands, without having to physically touch the device. It's like having an extra pair of hands to help you capture smooth and precise footage.

Another exciting feature of the Ronin-SC is its ability to track subjects in 3D space. Using a simple app on your phone, you can draw a box around your subject and the gimbal will follow it seamlessly, creating stunning 360-degree shots that are sure to impress. It's like having a mini drone attached to your camera, capturing footage from every angle.

But what really sets the Ronin-SC apart is its incredible versatility. You can use it on just about any camera or device, and it works perfectly with a range of lenses and accessories. Whether you're shooting cinematic scenes, live events, or simply vlogging on the go, the Ronin-SC has got you covered.

In terms of balancing the gimbal, it's incredibly sensitive, so you'll need to get everything just right before starting your shoot. But trust me, once you do, the results are well worth the effort. The tilt, roll, and pan are all excellent, and I found myself getting lost in the process of capturing footage.

In conclusion, the DJI Ronin-SC is an absolute game-changer for anyone looking to take their content creation to the next level. Its advanced stabilization technology, mobile features, and versatility make it the perfect tool for filmmakers, videographers, and content creators alike. So if you're in the market for a new gimbal that will elevate your workflow and help you capture stunning footage, look no further than the DJI Ronin-SC.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- Hey guys, it's Justine! And, today we're unboxingthe brand new DJI Ronin-SC.This is a follow up tothe previous Ronin-S,which I recently have justbeen using quite a lotfor a bunch of the shots thatwe were filming in Montana. We use this thing a ton.I wish that we would'vehad this on this shootbecause this thing is halfthe weight of the Ronin-S.And, the Ronin-S isn't even that heavy.I think it's like a littlebit over four pounds, whereas this one is 1.1 kilogram.Hey (beep), how manypounds is 1.1 kilogram?- 1.1kilograms is 2.43 pounds.- 2.43, this is less thantwo and a half pounds. So, enough talking, let's open it upbecause I need to show youguys how awesome this thing is.(upbeat music)So, the battery life onthis is about 11 hourswhen it's fully charged, andthe payload is two kilograms.Hey (beep), two kilogramsis how many pounds?- Twokilograms is 4.41 pounds.- 4.4, okay, so thisthing'll be able to handlemost mirrorless camerasand smaller lenses. There's a complete compatibility list,so I'll put a link in thedescription if you wanna seeif your lens and body is compatible. Most of the time, when I'mout using one of these thingsI'm not using a massive lens anyway.Probably the biggest lensthat I would be usingwould be like the G Master16-35 or the 24-72 Master, but honestly I probably wouldgo with just a smaller lensto make my life much easier. So here are a few cables. So, these are what allowsyou to connect your Roninto your camera so you'll beable to control the focus, and there is also alittle focus motor here. And, this has theselittle grippy teeth, too.So, this will allow you to manually focuswhile you're shooting, but tobe completely honest with you,I mostly shoot everything in Auto. Most the time, we're doinglike run and gun shots.Rarely do we have timeto just set up shots. This little handle also doublesas a tripod, which is nice. So, you can set your Ronin down.I mean, the other one, honestly was not heavy, but in comparison to this, this thing is so light. This is our littlebattery charging handle.Screw this handle into the bottom here.Moving on, this is whatmakes the magic happen. This has a mechanical lock for each axis. This is really greatbecause you can basicallyset your balance, lock it.You can put this in your backpackor have it set for storage. The difficult thing withsome of these gimblesis making sure that you'regetting the balance correct. So, once you do have it set,the last thing you wanna dois continually be messingwith it when you're on a shoot. So, let's put you right here.My gosh, this is so much lighter! This is, this is just crazy! So, here is what--Oh my gosh, this plate is so small! This is big boy Ronin.Ronin-S.And, this is the baby. It's so much lighter.I mean it really is half the weight. You'll even notice thiscamera plate right hereis so much bigger.Like, look at this.Obviously, the Ronin-S ismade for bigger cameras,DSLRs with larger lenses, but most of the time, the stuff that we're shooting for YouTube,we're using mirrorless,we're using smaller cameras.I also like that thishas this little slider,so you can have this set towhere you want the camerawhen you're attaching it to the gimble. This makes it easy because youcan just pop off the camerawith the slider attached, and the camera will be ableto go back in the same positionwhen you slide it back on.So, this is pretty awesome. What else we have?Oh, so this is a little riser plate. So, sometimes if you'reshooting on a camerawhere the lens hangs overthe top of the camera,so you'll need to use something like thisto raise the camera body up from the lens. This is the phone holder. So, this is kinda coolbecause there's a bunchof different ways that youcan mount this onto the Ronin. You can either mount it onto your camera,or you can also mountit onto the side here. One thing that I firstnoticed is, obviously, the size of this case.It is so much smallerthan the previous version.Let me show you.Oh, somebody went on a summer diet. How great.Okay, so let's get a camera on this thingand get it balanced.I'll put big boy away. It's so sensitive.(chill music)(upbeat music)Okay, we're in.Let's do a balance test! The tilt is excellent. The roll is excellent. The pan is excellent.I just can't even believe it.There's a few new mobile features,so you can connect your phone to the Roninand you can do ActiveTrack 3.0.So basically you can betracking your subjectand also moving the gimble around. So, it'll be keeping thatperson or object in the shot. There's also a Force Mobile feature,so you'll be able to controlthe gimble using your phone. So, you can have one personcontrolling the camerawhile somebody else is either holding itand moving it around. So, there's a lot ofreally cool implementationthat I really wanna try out with that.I wanna test out the Force Mobile. So when we activate Force Mobile, the gyroscope in myphone acts as a controlfor the gimble on the camera.Like, look at this.I feel like I am mother.I'm enjoying this way too much.I guess I'm gonna stop now. But, now I also wanna showyou guys the 360 3-D roll. This was something that the Ronin-S made, these incredible 360 roll shots possible. So, you can also do that here. You do have to enableit inside of the app.So, let me enable it,and I'll show you guyswhat I'm talking about.(gasps) There it is!This is gonna be cool.(squeals)(laughs) Oh, yeah!(bouncy music)We're out and about totest out the Ronin-SC,and the first thing thatI'm gonna tell you isyou can hold a coffee and usethe Ronin at the same time.I'm so basic it hurts. But, look at this.I'm so strong, or maybe this is so light.I don't know, oh.(chill music)This is also pretty cool. There's a virtual joystick modewhen you go into the create menu. So, I can control thegimble with my phone. This would be really greatif I had an externalmonitor attached to it.I actually just recentlyordered a little attachmentthat you can hook onto here,so I can use the Ninja V attached to this. That hasn't come in, yet. But, when it does, I willdo a follow-up video. This is really cool. This is Force Mobile. So, basically what thisdoes is it turns my phoneinto being able to control the gimble. It's using the accelerometerand the gyroscopein this phone, and it is actinglike the gimble controls.Do you know what we could do?We could be in the Olympics.Synchronized, what would we call it?Like synchronized swimming, but synchronized gimbling?(whimsical music)We could look left andright, move a little,oh there we go.Yes, that's great!Good job, Jenna!ActiveTrack 3.0 is so fun.The Ronin-SC comes with this phone mount.Attach your phone tothe top of your camera.Get everything balanced, and in the appunder the create section, you'll go into ActiveTrack.Once it's open, youwill select your subjectby drawing a box around them. Can you believe this? This is so cool.I mean, my phone is just attached to it.Thank you guys so much for watching.I hope you guys enjoyed this video.I look forward to implementingmore fun Ronin-SC shots. So far, using this thing has been so fun.I love it.It's so much lighter thanthe previous version.Man, if we woulda had this in Montana.- Oh my gosh!- (gasp) It woulda been great!- Look at it tracking you.- I know.- It doesn't evencare about me anymore, makes me feel bad.- And, if you are using, like, heavier camerasand different lenses, then obviously the Ronin-Sis something that probablywould work better for you. But, for me, this is honestlyeverything that I've wanted.I'll see you guys later.Bye!Okay, it's okay.- Ahhh, you're--- Ahh, I'm back! (snaps)- Bye!(whimsical music)\n"
