Track Record Attempt in my 500WHP Evo 5

A V6 Toyota Sound: A Collector's Delight?

Colette and I were discussing this last night, and it's got to be something to do with since it's a rear engine that can make like some sort of six-to-one collector sounds crazy. It'd be really cool if they could um kind of like put a uh like a tune on this and just give it a little bit more grunt. I feel like if this thing had an extra 50 wheel, it would uh really be gnarly. But maybe people do that, maybe that's what all the Lotus people do after they buy them, um but I think this is what a McLaren should sound like.

You know how McLaren sounds like a V8, kind of almost like an American car when I hear them? They don't sound like what I'd expect the car to sound like. I feel like this is what I expected McLaren to sound like when I see one - super exotic and kind of almost like V10ish. The throttle response is much better in race versus like normal mode, racer, damn. I did not expect to like this car this much.

Some Closing Thoughts on This Video

One on the Evo: The Slicks Definitely Blew What I Expected Out of the Water

There was a lot more feedback than I expected there's so much grip that I could hear and feel the chassis twisting. I could hear things creaking that never used to creak, I could feel the need for a higher spring rate, uh it's crazy the car felt like it was on rails. I'm glad I was able to do it; hopefully the engine situation isn't the biggest deal, and that's something we can salvage. Maybe it's just a bad plug or some sort of uh stuck injector and hopefully no damage to the ring or anything but a compression tester will tell all.

Now This Lotus: A Surprisingly Good Handling Car

I knew it would be good, but I didn't really know what to expect. And I have to say like it handled a lot like my GT3 and that kind of drove it like a rear-engine car because that's all that I knew. You can kind of get on the throttle earlier because of all the weight in the rear. But I found myself really enjoying how much you could kind of manipulate the weight of the car uh with braking and kind of trail braking, and getting on gas early and like kind of putting the grip where you need it was really fun and really uh rewarding to do laps and see improvements each time.

I got down to 118 with the car um I'll have it for a couple more days and I'll film some more exhaust clips and stuff around town. But today was just about fun getting back at the firm, getting some laps in, a little bit more details on the car: I haven't really filmed that much like all the car review people always show you all the fancy shots and pretty things but I'm just here's me driving the car.

One Thing That Stands Out

The fit and finish of the interior is really nice. I'm really bad at showing all these shots, but I like how it looks. The seats are really cool; they fit really nice. The only thing interior-wise that I think is dumb is these vents - they're like circle vents that look like they belong in like my F250 or something. It's weird because the entire interior looks beautiful. Something that I would expect out of like a Lamborghini or Ferrari um but head unit doesn't fit in these vents don't fit in if they were black, they'd look a lot better and then the back seats are kind of tiny.

I Wish There Was More

I wish the cigarette lighter was farther forward because it's kind of awkward. I didn't get to do a cup holder review on it yet but overall blown away with this thing. I think even with a stock alignment there's a bug uh just uh doing some pads to make a huge difference um but I'm pumped. I think it's crazy that they let me drive it on the track, and I'm appreciative so thank you Lotus um and uh yeah, that's it for this video. I know it's liked on the filming front, please don't hate me I'll do the next time I promise also someone commented on one of my things on Facebook saying that the track record is actually 111. What they have registered is 125, and that's what everyone always references but if there's a video that's a 111, that's going to be with my next target.
