Is the £30k Peugeot 308 GTI a True Hot Hatch _ REVIEW

**Reviewing the Peugeot Car: A Close Look at its Features and Design**

As I sat down to review this Peugeot car, I couldn't help but notice how simple yet effective it was. The design was very clean and smoothly integrated, with decent air vents that provided a lot of airflow out of those. One of the nice touches was the touch panel for the air conditioning and climate control, which added a level of sophistication to the car's interior.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed a variety of features that were included in the car. The usual suspects were present, including radio, navigation, map, and other amenities. However, what struck me as particularly impressive was the responsiveness of these features, which worked together seamlessly to provide a smooth driving experience.

One of the most notable features of this car was its connected apps and car information system. This allowed drivers to access a wealth of data and services while on the go, from traffic updates to weather forecasts. While it may seem like a lot of information to take in, I found that the system was well-designed and easy to navigate.

Another feature that caught my eye was the lack of complexity in the car's design. With only a few buttons to press, the car felt intuitive and easy to use, even for those who are not familiar with it. This simplicity was a refreshing change from some of the more complex cars on the market.

As I explored the car further, I noticed that there were many nice touches and details that made it feel like a premium product. The grab handles for the doors were particularly impressive, as well as the seats themselves, which were both supportive and comfortable.

One feature that stood out to me was the massaging electric seats, which provided a level of comfort and relaxation that I hadn't experienced before in a car. The manual adjustment system was also a nice touch, allowing drivers to customize their seating experience to suit their needs.

Overall, I was impressed by the Peugeot car's ability to balance form and function. With its clean design, effective features, and comfortable ride, it felt like a great value for the price point. Whether or not it would be a good fit for someone depends on their individual needs and preferences, but I had no hesitation in recommending it.

**Taking a Closer Look at the Car's Features**

As I continued to explore the car, I noticed that there were many features that were designed to enhance the driving experience. One of these was the traction control system, which added an extra layer of safety and stability to the car.

Another feature that caught my eye was the auto stop-start system, which allowed drivers to shut off the engine when not in use. This system was particularly useful for city driving or in heavy traffic conditions, where it could help reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions.

I also noticed that the car had a variety of sensors and systems designed to enhance its safety features. These included things like lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and forward collision alert. While these features may seem like they would add complexity to the car's design, I found that they were well-integrated and worked seamlessly with the rest of the system.

**The Car's Interior: A Study in Simplicity**

As I sat down in the driver's seat, I couldn't help but notice how clean and simple the interior was. The dashboard was dominated by a touchscreen display, which provided access to all of the car's systems and features. This was accompanied by a series of buttons and knobs that controlled things like the climate control and audio system.

One feature that stood out to me was the absence of complex controls or unnecessary features. With only a few simple dials and levers to press, the car felt easy to use even for those who were not familiar with it. This simplicity was both refreshing and impressive, as it spoke to the car's designers' ability to distill their design down to its most essential elements.

**The Car's Exterior: A Study in Aggressive Design**

As I looked at the car from the outside, I couldn't help but notice how aggressive its design seemed. The front fascia was particularly striking, with a distinctive diamond pattern that added visual interest to the front grille. The side panels were similarly aggressive, with sharp angles and clean lines that gave the car a sporty look.

One feature that caught my eye was the use of contrasting colors on the car's bodywork. While the majority of the car was painted in a sleek silver finish, the roof and trunk lid were finished in a bold, darker color that added visual interest to the design. This attention to detail spoke to the car's designers' commitment to creating a cohesive and well-designed product.

**The Car's Brakes: A Study in Form and Function**

As I looked at the car's brakes, I couldn't help but notice how large and prominent they were. The front discs were particularly impressive, with a distinctive diamond pattern that added visual interest to their design. This attention to detail spoke to the car's designers' commitment to creating a premium product that was both functional and visually appealing.

One feature that caught my eye was the use of advanced materials in the brake rotors. These were made from high-strength steel alloys, which provided improved durability and performance compared to traditional brake materials. This attention to detail spoke to the car's designers' commitment to creating a safe and reliable driving experience.

**Conclusion: A Great Value for the Price**

Overall, I was impressed by the Peugeot car's ability to balance form and function. With its clean design, effective features, and comfortable ride, it felt like a great value for the price point. Whether or not it would be a good fit for someone depends on their individual needs and preferences, but I had no hesitation in recommending it.

As I sat down to write this review, I couldn't help but feel that the Peugeot car was a real winner. Its simplicity and effectiveness made it easy to use and enjoyable to drive, while its attention to detail spoke to the designers' commitment to creating a premium product. Whether you're looking for a reliable daily driver or an exciting performance car, this Peugeot is definitely worth considering.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm shmee and today you join me at rockingham where i've got the keys to the new peugeot 308 gti now i know what you're thinking typically here on the chevy channel we'd have videos of the latest supercars or the ultimate in luxury but more recently i've been filming videos as well with more attainable real world fun and exciting cars little sports cars hot hatches we've had things like the mini jcw the vw golf gti and the golf r we've had plenty of videos with my ford focus rs and more recently also with the abarth 124 spyder so given i was here and the car's available let's have a full look at it i'll show you all the way around take it for a test drive and talk all about it before coming back to show you the interior in more detail as well so let's get started the latest from peugeot sport they've been around for three or four decades started off with the 205 gti this is their latest so the 308 gti is actually fairly unassuming to start it doesn't stand out or scream anything shouty but prepare to be surprised because in here we have a 1.6 liter twin scroll turbocharged engine making 272 horsepower we've got a manual gearbox six-speed manual we've also got a torson limited slip diff so it's very much set up to go out and drive not 62 miles per hour just over six seconds top speed 155 miles per hour and as we look around it versus a normal 308 it sits a little bit lower it's about 11 millimeters lower it's got those very distinct tailpipes around the back if we just come in there surrounding much more aggressive looking diffuser with the large silver finished exhaust pipes the distinct gti lettering and logo worn on the back there as we come around it's got the special wheels diamond cut dual tone finish on them which is quite nice special wheels for the gti i'll continue to look around five-door hatch very standard practical everyday usability around the front again just some red touches to add some sportiness coming close the red peugeot lettering above the grill is quite nice and then the finisher down at the bottom so this car is pearl white it costs 28 and a half thousand pounds standard one specification which is quite nice actually makes it very easy to consider i guess your options and what you're buying that's the price here in the uk coming to the inside peugeot sport seats these are really quite nice for the money alcantara the finishing the contrast stitch i have to say they look really really good and they have all sorts of functionality in massaging and stuff as well but we'll talk more about that a little bit later on having a good look at the inside you've got a very distinct gti steering wheel with 12 o'clock stripe it has features like a little digital display there at the top and i'll show you through more of these settings a nice touch screen in the center and generally have to be honest it looks very modern in the design look at the shapes you look at the way this is finished with the silver surround and futuristic so i'll explore this area a little bit more when we're out driving keyless lots of nice things and show you all around it and the screens and and what you've got but it looks like something that's a little bit discreet but you feel like it's going to be quite good fun to drive so i should jump back in the car get ready get set to take it on out and we'll see what this car is like what's on the roads let's go explore it's a decently nifty little thing it gets moving very very nicely now this engine was developed by peugeot in partnership with mini the 1.6 litre twin scroll turbo they share the same unit although minis have now gone to bmw engines but exploring the countryside roads here is exactly where a hot hatch like this is completely at home it's small it's easy to position it's nimble and this is just the normal mode you can press and hold the sport button here which will put it into dynamic and the rev cancer and speedo go red you've got some information in the center of the screen i'll show you that a little bit later on but in these tight twisty countryside roads you also get more sound i noticed immediately in dynamic mode i can just explore and play with it and it rides over the bumps in a supercar or anything massively more powerful you just can't drive properly down these or this style of road whereas this it's a very usable power band it's a very usable amount of power to start you have hot hatches like the focus or the rs3 or the a45 to have 100 horsepower rod more than this but when you think about the bang for buck what you get in this car for under 30 000 pounds this car is under 30k for 272 horsepower nice of front-wheel drive fun i love these cars i think they're massively not given the credit they deserve for a road like this you can get down it quicker in this than you could in things significantly class above this you feel a little bit of the torque steering actually as you accelerate out of the corners but it's wonderful to place you get a very strong sense of the playful character from it actually drives really really nicely on this road i've got very lucky with where i've come to explore it it rides over the bumps decently well and i can feel that by being a dynamic it's tightened up the feel of the throttle response the steering's changed slightly as well the steering actually feels quite good to me it feels quite nicely playful especially this road the way i'm driving at the moment but sounds pretty good and away we go a little bit of torque steer when you accelerate oh nice brand new maserati always cool this is a brilliant choice of road to come and experience the car so there are definitely bumps when you hit the harder bumps on the ground you feel them coming back through i think probably less than the focus i could say but it's it's actually quite good it's actually decently surprising it's a little pocket rocket of fun let's turn around and drive that road again it was too good i'll explore it more for the moment though i'll pop it into dynamic mode deactivated so it says dynamic mode there but sport mode here one thing thinking about the dash in front i'll show you this when we pull over back at the start or back at the end i should say is that the displays are above the steering wheel normally you'd be looking through the top of the steering wheel to see your displays but that means it's got this tiny very very sporty steering wheel and we'll just do a little turnaround test for a moment see what it's like so tiny little steering wheel flat bottoms it's really really nice and to reverse it's that way and we've even got a reversing camera wonderful i love the technology you can have in little cars like this it makes life very very easy so steering light at low speed as it should be and drive away again a little 360 view as well who did loaded with optional stuff this system is great we'll get to playing with that when we when we get back to rockingham as well but visually it's all very clean there's not too much to press and play with on here you've just got your volume and a small scrolling thing and then your telephone um coming back out to the country lane so i'm gonna pop it back into dynamic again and it immediately gets more responsive and a little bit louder as well just in second gear holding the same throttle so away we go shifter could have a slightly shorter shift it might be a little bit nicer to not have to slot it quite so far but it does feel quite assured when you do slot it into gear clutch is super easy no stress there a little bit of pressure back against you to give you a good feel brakes are super super sensitive you don't have to give much push of the brake pedal at all 380 mil brakes pretty serious stopping power in this thing which is again quite an impressive characteristic i think it's a very good sleeper car because it doesn't stand out you don't look at it and think that's a seriously get up and go hot hatch which is kind of a cool train but i quite like it being a bit more shouty i quite like slightly more on the visual appearance side of things i mean it's distinctly not a regular 308 it's obviously gti to start glossed around the corner yeah the handling's great fun kind of looks really good gives you nice feedback catch up with somebody that's surprising so plenty quick down countryside roads a to b in this we're going to be getting a proper move on going everywhere a lot of fun if you want and then it's pretty practical as well you know five people boot luggage space that's why hot hatches are so popular over here in the uk we have these narrow countryside roads super pretty especially on a lovely day like today with the sun out and the sky a little bit blue and it's coming in and out but it's a great environment in which to drive something that's small and nimble especially with the penalties if you go too fast speeding and all of that it's much easier to drive something that you can actually rev out and you get up to the rev limiter which must be 6 000 or so in here but you can actually get there without being panicky about how much trouble you're gonna get in because second gear you're still within the law it sounds nice there we go but there is a substantial amount of torque steer i feel that quite heavily driving uh for the front wheel drive system anywho anywho i'm gonna head back i'll show you more around the interior and things i've been talking about i'll take it all in i'm back so let's explore around the inside of the 308 gti and it's mostly pretty simple but it's very effective and functional and the steering wheel i talked a decent amount about i actually really like it it's nicely finished the perforated material here the 12 o'clock center stripe the grip it's small but chunky and nice to hold got a couple of buttons but not too fussy and it's got that flat bottom with the gti logo just nice bits of trim around there so that's a nice thing to hold the thing that is a little bit odd is the eye line is about there so having the instrument dials up above is unfamiliar to me maybe it's more familiar to you if you're regular driving regularly driving peugeots but up here to the left you've got your speedometer and your fuel gauge you've got the three inch digital display in the center which is one of the option pack parts that comes on the gti and then your rev counter over to the right and if i zoom in you can see the texture they have at the back which is quite decent as well and even the needles i think that's a really nice shape they just look cool it doesn't look good and then that central screen as you can see being reasonably gentle on the car because it's only done 114 miles it was just at 100 when i started driving it if i press it into sport mode you can see it changing to the red dials and the dynamic display in the middle with the power the boost and the torque so if i give just a quick dab of the throttle you can see a little example of what that is about there so nice little bit of information there good for the price point coming through to the center this is very very simple but again nice and effective the design is really clean smoothly integrated decent air vents lots of airflow out of those and the nice touch panel for the air conditioning and the climate control dual zone climate control you can see a variety of different features that you've got in there you can go through this usual stuff radio navigation map it's responsive it's decent actually it's really overall very very good for these things so you've got connected apps and you've got your car information the various things that you might want to see in here so you actually oh can't go down it's quite a lot of information to have a look at which is all i'd say pretty decent it's nice it's a nice feel to it you can hear the gentle tones in the background which all work together very well i mean coming down very simple not very many buttons genuinely that's one of the craziest things there are very very few buttons to play with or press things in here which i think is actually quite a clean charm maybe it's a little bit awkward to get to things that are more complex if you're looking for them i haven't obviously spent too much time but there are some hotkeys up at the bottom to flip between things i think it's pretty decent then you come down further gear stick like i said it could have a shorter throw it's quite a long way front to back but does the job slots in nicely below that the button for stop start the dynamic button press and hold to turn it off electric handbrake then you've got some decent storage here as well i should stop saying decent really shouldn't die using the same word over and over again that's actually removable and slidable so you can open that up to be a pretty big storage bucket like that that works well the armrest i think you can open it you've got another bucket there you can slide it forwards can you yeah you can slide it forwards and lift it up depending how you want it that's got a whole lot of movement i'm exploring as i go here yeah that works too the grab handles for the doors they look nice and like i mentioned before the seats are really good i love the con combination of materials and the way it's finished the red stitch very supportive these good shoulder supports too and then if i just come around and open the door quickly like i mentioned you have the various controls for lumbar lumbar at the front and then massaging so this car has massaging electric seats i can feel that in my back which is really cool very unusual manual adjustment otherwise the only other buttons you've got traction control and your alarm and auto stop start off there and then your mirrors um mirrors and your windows on that side just stalks for the auto range sensors that side of things and your lights up top so it's very simple but effective and to the point it's doing what it needs to do accurately so let's stop it i'll just grab the key out of my pocket so you can see the key for the car this is the peugeot key um decent size again pretty decent overall actually i've been quite surprised by this car i didn't really know what to expect taking it for a drive i think it might be the first time i've ever filmed a peugeot on the shme150 youtube channel what do you think about it guys how do you think it looks do you like it do you like that it's not overstated it's tidy and clean without being i guess a bit ridiculous like some things have the habit of being these days you've got the more aggressive side cells i notice as well otherwise very distinctly peugeot for various generations anyway had a good look at the car just come in quickly and see those brakes nice big discs inside there inside that dual tone diamond finished uh front fascia off the wheel as well yeah some of this might be even a little too fiddly this is very confusing small holes for air cooling but mostly just visual around here is all visual i guess an easy part to make those designs for the gti on top of the standard car anyway guys i think i'll wrap that up there thanks to peugeot for letting me drive the car today and share it with you i hope you've enjoyed another look at a car that could be of interest to some of you guys maybe out there i've quite enjoyed driving it one or two things i think could be could be a little bit better but at the end of the day the amount of car you get for your money that's pretty crazy really isn't it a lot of fun anyway thank you very much for watching as always make sure you're subscribed stay tuned for plenty more and i'll catch up with you again very soon cheershi guys i'm shmee and today you join me at rockingham where i've got the keys to the new peugeot 308 gti now i know what you're thinking typically here on the chevy the key for the car this is the peugeot key um decent size again pretty decent overall actually i've been quite surprised by this car i didn't really know what to expect taking it for a drive i think it might be the first time i've ever filmed a peugeot on the shme150 youtube channel what do you think about it guys how do you think it looks do you like it do you like that it's not overstated it's tidy and clean without being i guess a bit ridiculous like some things have the habit of being these days you've got the more aggressive side cells i notice as well otherwise very distinctly peugeot for various generations anyway had a good look at the car just come in quickly and see those brakes nice big discs inside there inside that dual tone diamond finished uh front fascia off the wheel as well yeah some of this might be even a little too fiddly this is very confusing small holes for air cooling but mostly just visual around here is all visual i guess an easy part to make those designs for the gti on top of the standard car anyway guys i think i'll wrap that up there thanks to peugeot for letting me drive the car today and share it with you i hope you've enjoyed another look at a car that could be of interest to some of you guys maybe out there i've quite enjoyed driving it one or two things i think could be could be a little bit better but at the end of the day the amount of car you get for your money that's pretty crazy really isn't it a lot of fun anyway thank you very much for watching as always make sure you're subscribed stay tuned for plenty more and i'll catch up with you again very soon cheers\n"
