Welcome to Petrolhead and welcome to this week's Midweek 180. I am at home again this week, but sadly, there's no supercar as a backdrop because the R8 went back to reality about half an hour ago. I am in deep mourning; what an epic week I've had with that car – two videos with it coming to the channel very soon, so stay tuned. But if you haven't seen one of these before, this is my midweek update where I bring you my news, views, and information about upcoming reviews. All filmed in one take, I'm going to put 180 seconds in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen, and that's it – a very simple format.
So, without further ado, let's get cracking with this week's Midweek 180. My leader of the pack last week was at the Noisy Man X; congratulations, sir, and the famous five were John S14, James Yowl speed machine 35, and your brand Samra – so congratulations whoever puts the first comment this week you will be my leader of next week, and the top five comments you will be in my famous five. Now, where are you and what you're doing? That was my mate Neil Barden who was in a cottage in North Wales having spent the day in his GP – driving around Wales chasing down Porsches. I am very, very jealous but wherever you are right now, and whatever you're doing, put it in the comments below, and I'll give you a shout-out next week.
Now, last week's question I wanted to know what your favorite cars from Goodwood Festival of Speed were, and many many many people said the Koenigsegg YESCO – and I didn't actually get to see it. Damn lots of people also like the VW IDR; anything that goes up the hill in under 40 seconds is all right by me. So, this week's question: honest answer on Sunday had a choice of many sports which one did you put on first? Did you put on the Formula One, the tennis, the cricket or the netball? I'll own up to the fact that we actually watched the tennis first, and I had the Formula One on record, and watch it afterwards. What a race it was – I think probably the best race of the year; some fantastic driving clearly I was great watching Hamilton and Verstappen at the beginning going toe-to-toe. The safety car worked out in Hamilton's favor, and obviously he went on to win but that overtake Beiler click – Wow absolutely amazing.
And for me, Vettel just seems like he can't handle the pressure and the fact that the clerk's driving so well I don't think it's helping things; he's certainly not the number one. New car news has to be this: the new all-electric hypercar from Lotus – via-via, I think that's how it is spelled avidya but it's actually a Via – amazing-looking thing 2000 PS and get this 1700 Newton meters; I'd love to know where they're getting the tires from; are they going to manage that? That's basically 400 PS per corner an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio on each corner of the car – absolutely mental. Only ways while 16 80 kilos which for a Lotus is very heavy but for an electric supercar it is quite light. Naught to 60 is going to be under three seconds this is the one though – north 186 in under nine seconds; a Chiron does it in thirteen point six – Wow they're only making 130; they're going to be between one and a half and two million quid each that's a lot of money for a Lotus but I just think it looks beautiful; the rear bit with an Aero section with the lights around it absolutely amazing thing.
And then, last bit video news – hopefully by now you've watched my Monday night video which was me going up the Goodwood Hill as a passenger in a Ferrari 488 pista in just 50.2 seconds – mind-blowing and this Friday is my first video with the R8 living with a supercar for the very first time, I take it on a trip to Wales and then on up to Alton Park to do a test in the enduro car; there we go – and I have to say it was incredible amazing amazing car as I've had two videos to come with that one but yeah that's it; not bad timing-wise this week, I hope you've enjoyed that one if you have then please give me a thumbs up; comments below are always welcome, and if you haven't subscribed yet, what are you waiting for? And finally, take care drive safe.
