The Urgent Need to Buy Now: A Warning from Jay
In a recent video, Jay expressed his frustration with individuals who are waiting to buy graphics cards, particularly those anticipating the launch of the 40 series. He emphasized that if you're not willing to act now, you'll be missing out on an opportunity to purchase these high-demand cards at a reasonable price. Jay's message is clear: if you're in the market for a new graphics card, stop waiting and go buy one right away.
History Repeats Itself
Jay highlighted the fact that history repeats itself when it comes to people waiting for new products to launch before making a purchase. He noted that many individuals still find themselves in this situation because they refuse to listen and wait too long to make a decision. Jay's warning is not meant to be dismissive of people who are waiting, but rather a reminder that the situation may worsen if more individuals choose to hold off.
Jay's Advice: Buy Now
For those intelligent enough to understand Jay's message, he urges them to buy their graphics cards immediately. If you're in the market for an NVIDIA or AMD card, don't wait any longer. The 30 series is already drying up, and with the 40 series on its way, it may be difficult to find affordable options soon. Jay's advice is not meant to be taken lightly; he encourages viewers to take action and make a purchase as soon as possible.
The Importance of Timing
Jay acknowledges that there is a reason why people are waiting for the 40 series to launch. He notes that NVIDIA is preparing for the new generation of cards, which means they will no longer produce 30 series models. However, Jay points out that this doesn't mean you should wait until then to make a purchase. The prices for many SKUs are already high, and if you wait too long, you may find yourself paying even more. Jay's advice is to take advantage of the current situation and buy now.
A Value Card in Disguise
Jay also mentions that some individuals might point out cards like the 3090 Ti as a value option. However, he disagrees with this assessment. He notes that the 3090 Ti is already a high-end card and doesn't offer much in terms of value for most gamers. Jay's point is that even if you find a deal on a highly sought-after card, it may not be worth the wait.
A Final Word from Jay
Jay concludes his message by emphasizing that buying a graphics card now is not an act of impulsiveness; it's a smart decision. He acknowledges that some individuals might feel like they're missing out on something better, but he encourages viewers to focus on getting the best deal available at this time. By taking action now, you can avoid any potential pitfalls and ensure that you get the graphics card you need without breaking the bank.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- They do not want that 30 series in stockso they are waiting until these are goneand if you're waiting, then you're an idiotbecause they're gonna be goneand you're gonna findyourself in a situationwhere you can't get either.Again, history repeats itselfand people are still gonnafind themselves in this spotbecause they refuse to listen. So for those of you out therethat are intelligent enoughto understand what I'm saying,go buy your graphics card rightnow if you are in the marketand you're waiting for 40 series to launchfor 30 series price and drop.It just dropped, what are you waiting for?Stop this video and go buy somethingwhether it be AMD or NVIDIA now.I know I sound angrybecause some of youare stubborn as (bleep)and you're gonna not listenand you're gonna miss outand I'm trying to (bleep) help you, so go.- No, you're not an idiotfor choosing to waitto buy a graphics card. What's the rush, Jay?I mean, come on,like I get it.40 series is coming and yeah, you know, 30 series stuff's gonna dry upbecause NVIDIA's no longerproducing 30 series cardsthey're penting up supply in preparationfor the new generation ofcard to be launched soon,we expect, I get that, but prices still suck fora lot of SKUs out there. Now, you conveniently pointout cards like the 3090 Ti,which is already a frickingdog (bleep) value cardto begin with.I don't know any gamer who's just like,\"I gotta have the 3090 Ti,\"okay, I know a few,but they just have too much money to burnthey don't care about value. The real value lies inthe 3060 cards, the 3070s,the 3080s, even cardslike the 3050, right?None of these cards are atMSRP at new, they're not,and I don't talk a lot aboutnew cards to begin withbecause the real valuesin the used market.I know there's a big scare about,\"Oh, my card might have beenmine with if I bought a usedand I'm just, I don't wannadeal with the maintenanceor the reliabilityissues with a mine card.\"We have videos talking about this buildso I just came out witha very relevant videoas well regarding mining cards,I'll have that link belowif you wanna check it out.Needless to say, somefolks won't be convincedthat used cards are worth it, I get that, but a majority of you who are concernedabout value should atleast entertain siteslike eBay, local listings,Facebook Marketplace,OfferUp, Canadian, Kijiji, check them out, do the due diligence,I don't think you'll regret it.That said, even if we focuson just the new markets, pointing out the fact that cardslike the 3090 Ti have been slashedby several hundred dollars really doesthe general consumer no goodbecause the generalconsumer is not interestedin a card like that to begin with.- 3090 Ti dropped from$2,000 MSRP to $1,599and it's my understanding thatprice is gonna go even lower, but right now, like at thetime of making this video,$1,599 from 1,999, thatmeans that puts the 3090 Tiin basically the sameprice category as the 3090.- Yes, the 6,000 XT andthe 6,900 XT have becomepretty decent values, but again, they are still selling for $7,900,I mean, it's not practicalfor the general consumers.Let's talk about general consumer cards. The RTX 3060, 60 seriescards traditionally have beenvery good values. We can't find one herein this list at MSRP.They simply do not exist. You can check Amazonexactly the same thing. It can't find a 3060 MSRP, butthen why are you suggestingthat folks are idiots for notbuying these cards over MSRP?That doesn't make any sense to me.There might be the unicorn listingthat you should absolutely jump on, sure,we'll both agree there, but the general consensusthis market is conveying isthat prices have not fully softened yetand so, again, there'sno rush here, just wait.Let's say I'm wrong, let'ssay in two months timeNVIDIA announces 40 series cardsand then we had the exact sameshit show we had with Amperewhere at first Turingowners dumped their cards, which would be good for youand I trying to buy, right?Especially in the used market.Turing 2080 Tis wereselling for four, $500,insane at the time andthen they got screwed overwhen they couldn't get anAmpere card at a decent pricebecause scalpers, minors, and COVID-19 supply chainshortages just jacked prices upacross the board, right? That was a perfect storm of events. For that to happen again, thechances are extremely small, but let's say they do,we are already screwed as it is.The world's economy isin a total rut right now. We've printed more moneyin one year in this countrythan we ever have in thehistory of the US combinedand that's not supposedto have any ramificationsat all, right? So imagine if that scenariowere to occur againwithin a three year time span,at that point, you're not gonna carewhether you have a 20 series, 30 series,or 40 series graphicscard in your gaming PC.These are not necessities, unless you need them for work, gaming on a graphics card isnot a life changing thing. What is life changing iswhether or not you can affordto put food on your table, which I think will become moreof an issue, unfortunately, not only in this country, but across the world in the coming months. With what the fed is doingwith interest rates nowadaysand the US dollar determinesquite a bit around the globe,we have a ton of influencewith this currency. It's gonna get pretty dang badand so if I'm wrong and that happens, you're not gonna regret buying a card. You'll actually probably behappy that you save that moneyfor something more important, but let's say I'm wrong in another sense, let's say the prices don'treally change much at all,no harm, no foul, atleast you tried, right? And let's say, I'm right,I saved you a few hundred dollars, right? And good news, cards are more affordableat that point in timeand you can probably pickfrom a wider range ofcards, especially used, which is even better forthe general consumer. So again, I don't understand the rush, you're not an idiot, this video, again, you could already tell it's not gonna havea pre-roll or anything in ityou might see a YouTubebanter too, but that's it.Just wanted to make this offthe cuff in response to that'cause I don't want you to feel pressuredinto buying now, absurd.First of, prices still kindof suck, with respect to MSRP,for a lot of skews outthere, few exceptions,6,000 XT, 6,900 XT,few others if you're into cards like that, but most of the value oriented cards,60 series cards let's say from Ampere, are not ripe enough yetand just don't be pressured into buying.Again, I don't get why Jayignored the used market entirelyin that video first of, you know. It's very obvious EVGA and NVIDIAand the companies likethey will make moneywhen I sell my EVGA graphicscard secondhand on eBay.They make $0 from that saleand I get a little bit of brand exposure, but that's insignificant inthe grand scheme of things. They make money when you buy a new cardor when you buy fromtheir B-Stock website, which is actually a really goodsite, you should check out. They don't make money when you buy usedthat can affect companydirection let's say, especially if the video sponsoredI don't think Jay's was,but just keep in mind thatis something to considerand that might be why you don't hearthe used graphics card market brought upa lot of times on certain channels, but, again, I think it wouldbe a sin to look past them.I just wanted to makethis just to let you knowthat no, you are not aloneif you feel like anidiot for not buying now,I guess that makes me an idiot toobecause, you know, we said in our videothat the sweet spot is gonnabe around August, September,I stand by that, I thinkwe're still gonna havea pretty decent dump of cardslike we did when Ampere wasannounced on the used marketwith Turing and Pascal and older cardspeople will just be anticipatingthe next great thing, that's what consumers do.It's that shiny new objectthey have to have it regardless of value. So there will be that, but I think demand overallwill still be lowerbecause of what we're going through. As a nation, as a fricking-As a planet. Most of us are feelingthe effects right nowin developed or developingcountries and it's,again, it's a situationthat you shouldn't feel pressured into.So I don't think youhave much to lose at allby choosing to wait,I think it's the safe, smarter play, Jay disagrees, but I think that theevidence speaks for itself. We have a very relevant data setthat I'll link in the description. We've talked about many videos,we've collected pricing dataover the course of a year for64 different graphics cardsand our projections suggests, these are just projectionsthey're not, you know, Idon't have a crystal ball, but they suggest that priceswill continue to soften. That's why I think you should waitand again, in light of 40 series coming upthe actual announcementhasn't been made yetI know it kind of seemedlike Jay was suggesting that it has,we already know everything weneed to know about 40 seriesto make the decision, that's not truebecause the general consumer doesn't yet.The general consumer isn'tfollowing rumors 24/7,we are as an industry becausethat's our jobs, right? The enthusiast will, butthe general consumer won'tand so when NVIDIA actuallyannounces those new cards, shows what they're capableof and shows the pricing, that's when I think we'll see a dump, might not be a big dump, especially if the 40 seriesstuff is expensive relativeto 30 and 20 series, well 20series is pretty expensiveto begin with, but 30series are pretty darn good.We might not see as big a dump, but that dump might still be thereand I think that's worth waiting foror at least waiting close to thatbecause you'll still have plentyof speculators offloadingtheir older cardsin preparation for the new onesthat folks are inevitably gonna wantbecause they're new, right?I have to have the newest, most relevant thing in tech. With that, let me knowif you agree, disagree,I'm sure I'll get some hate for this, but Jay's a big boy so am I.His video was-It wasn't a direct responseto mine, of course, but the timing was justtoo ideal to ignorebecause in our video we saidthat waiting was the sound thing to do,it made the most sense and again,we had plenty of data to back that upand Jay's video, publishedshortly thereafter,he says, \"If you wait, you're an idiot.\"I have to respond to that. What we said is not idiotic. No, you're not an idiot if you wait.I think it makes the most senseand look if we're wrongat the end of this, the world will keep spinning, but if we're right, you'll be gladthat you saved a few extra bucks, hopefully you save $100,$200 depending on the card, but that's what we're in this for.I'm in this for, you know, obviously your best interest,if I just said a bunch ofwrong things all the timeyou wouldn't wanna watch, you wouldn't trust me,but I'm not alone eitherthere are other YouTubers,Brian over at TechCityhas a very similar feelingon this matter, I'm sureothers as well are out there, but yeah, don't feelpressured into buying now.Just wanted to say you're not alone, okay? Thanks for watching, my name's Greg, thanks for learning with me.\n"
