Welcome to Coke & Cheer: Easy Recipes
Hey everybody and welcome back to Coke & Cheer today in this episode we're doing up another easy recipe mini chicken subs they just involve a basic hotdog bun a few toppings they're super simple to make I know you're gonna love them so let's get started.
The ingredients for our mini chicken subs are quite straightforward. We have some boneless skinless chicken breasts, which is the main protein source for this dish. In addition to the chicken, we'll need some basic seasonings such as salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder. These will give our chicken a nice flavor profile that complements the other toppings.
To start cooking, we'll add the simple seasoning mixture to both sides of the chicken breasts. This ensures that the chicken is evenly seasoned and that there's no overpowering flavor on one side versus the other. After applying the seasonings, we'll add some oil to a preheated pan and place the chicken breasts inside.
Now it's time to cook our chicken breasts over medium heat. It's essential to not make the heat too high or the sear on the chicken will be crispy and unpleasant. On the other hand, if the heat is too low, the chicken won't cook evenly. In this case, we'll aim for a medium heat that allows us to achieve a nice sear without overpowering the dish.
Cooking our chicken breasts takes about 4 minutes per side, which should result in white meat and no pink color. This is an estimate and may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts as well as the pan used. As we cook the chicken, it will turn from a pink color to a white one, indicating that it's done.
Once our chicken breasts are cooked, we'll remove them from the pan and set them aside on a plate. This allows us to proceed with building our mini subs without worrying about overcooking or undercooking the chicken. Now that our chicken is done, let's take a look at how we can shred it using two forks.
Instead of slicing the chicken breasts, we prefer to shred them into thin strips. To achieve this, we'll pull the chicken apart with two forks in opposite directions. This will give us a nice trail of shredded chicken that we can use for our mini subs.
Now that we have our shredded chicken, it's time to build our mini subs. We start by placing a layer of chicken onto a basic hot dog bun. You can choose any type of hot dog bun you like, but this particular one will do the trick.
Next, we'll add some sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and sharp cheddar cheese to our mini sub. These toppings provide a nice balance of flavors and textures that complement the shredded chicken nicely. Of course, you're free to customize your mini sub with any other toppings you like.
Finally, we'll add a layer of mayonnaise to our mini sub, which ties everything together and adds a creamy element to the dish. And there you have it – our easy, simple, and delicious chicken mini sub is complete!
