**Upgrading to iOS 12.4.8: A Review**

In this article, we will explore the latest update to iOS, specifically iOS 12.4.8, and discuss its features and implications for users of older devices.

**The Benefits of Upgrading**

When it comes to upgrading to a newer version of iOS, many people hesitate due to concerns about stability and compatibility with their device. However, in this case, the benefits of updating to iOS 12.4.8 far outweigh any potential drawbacks. Firstly, upgrading to a newer version of iOS ensures that you have access to the latest security patches and bug fixes, which can help protect your device from malware and other threats. Additionally, many older devices may not be able to take advantage of the latest features and functionalities available in newer versions of iOS.

Moreover, upgrading to iOS 12.4.8 can also provide improvements in performance and battery life. With a more recent version of iOS, you can expect faster app launches, smoother animations, and overall improved responsiveness. Furthermore, many users have reported that updating to iOS 12.4.8 has helped extend the battery life of their device, even when using resource-intensive apps like games or video streaming services.

**Addressing Concerns**

Some users have expressed concerns about upgrading to a newer version of iOS, particularly those who are running older devices such as the iPhone 5s or iPhone 6. One common concern is that these devices may not be able to run certain features and functionalities available in newer versions of iOS, such as dark mode.

However, it's worth noting that Apple has stated that they will not introduce dark mode on older devices in an iOS 12 update. This means that users who are running an iPhone 5s or iPhone 6 may not see any significant improvements from updating to iOS 12.4.8 in terms of this feature.

On the other hand, some users have reported experiencing improved performance and battery life after updating to iOS 12.4.8 on their older devices. For example, one user reported that their iPhone 5s was running much faster and with less lag after updating to the latest version of iOS. Another user reported that they were able to extend their battery life by using Wi-Fi while playing games or watching YouTube videos.

**Real-World Experience**

In terms of real-world experience, many users have reported positive results from updating to iOS 12.4.8 on their older devices. For example, one user who was running an iPhone 6 was able to resolve a heating issue after updating to the latest version of iOS. Another user who was running an iPhone 5s reported improved performance and battery life after updating to iOS 12.4.8.

However, it's worth noting that some users have also reported issues with their devices after updating to iOS 12.4.8. For example, one user reported experiencing a battery percentage bug where their device would drop from a full charge to 30% when powering off and on again.

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, while there may be some limitations to upgrading to iOS 12.4.8 on older devices, the benefits of updating to a newer version of iOS far outweigh any potential drawbacks. By ensuring access to the latest security patches and bug fixes, upgrading to iOS 12.4.8 can help protect your device from malware and other threats. Additionally, many users have reported improved performance and battery life after updating to this version of iOS.

If you are running an older device such as the iPhone 5s or iPhone 6, it's worth considering whether or not to upgrade to iOS 12.4.8. While some features may not be available on these devices, many users have reported positive results from updating to this version of iOS. Ultimately, the decision to upgrade is up to you and will depend on your individual needs and preferences.

**iOS 12.4.8 Features**

While there are no significant new features in iOS 12.4.8 compared to previous versions, there are still several improvements and bug fixes that have been included in this update.

One of the most notable improvements is the resolution of a heating issue on some devices, which was reported by several users before the release of iOS 12.4.7. Additionally, there have been reports of improved performance and battery life on older devices after updating to this version of iOS.

There are also several security patches and bug fixes that have been included in iOS 12.4.8, including a fix for a vulnerability in the Safari browser. Furthermore, Apple has also addressed an issue with the iPhone's screen going black after being exposed to certain temperatures or chemicals.

Overall, while there may not be any significant new features in iOS 12.4.8, this update still provides several improvements and bug fixes that can help enhance your overall user experience on your device.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is brandon and in addition to ios 13.6 apple released ios 12.4.8 today for older devices that are not supported on ios 13 or ios 14. and this update comes about two months after the release of 12.4.7 which i also covered here on the channel back in may so in this video we're gonna be taking a look at what's changed in ios 12.4.8 we're gonna look at the performance the battery life the security patches and of course if you should update or not so first off you can see the size is very small as it always is with these ios 12 updates here in 2020 you can see here on my iphone 6 the update came in at 35.6 megabytes coming from 12.4.7 but if you were on a previous version that update size could be a little bit larger as you can see over here on my iphone 5s it's 768 megabytes so the size will vary depending on the firmware you're coming from but anyways let's go and check out the build number for this latest update settings general about 12.4.8 you can see the build number there 16g 201. and if you scroll down a little bit you'll see that the modem firmware is still unchanged it's still 7.80.04 so this update will not fix any type of connectivity issues you may have been facing in 12.4.7 so now what's new in ios 12.4.8 and you guys should probably already know this by now there's nothing visual i mean this is ios 12 you can't really be expecting anything at all to be changed visually for these old iphone 6 and iphone 5s devices it's a miracle the apple is still even supporting these devices so many years later it's you know hats off to apple for that it's crazy that they're still supporting these devices but you can't be expecting any type of major features these days for these old devices so mainly what you're going to be seeing now are just bug fixes that there's like some kind of big bug that's out there in the wild that will get fixed by these updates security patches and things like that you're not really going to see anything like dark mode or any kind of crazy changes to the control center or anything like that so yeah if you take a look at the description that apple gives for this update they just say that 12.4.8 provides important security updates and is recommended for all users so that basically just tells us i mean we could kind of tell that just from the sheer small size of this update i mean 35 megabytes that's literally just security patches at that point so apple did not actually tell us exactly what has been patched in terms of the security they did already post the update page for the security contents of 12.4.8 but you can see here that there's nothing that it shows no cbes that it shows here nothing specific so we just gotta you know listen to what apple tells us and just pretty much trust them that's some security loopholes have been patched up and if you guys remember from my 12.4.7 video apple did also address the text character bug so that was the big bug that was going around back in may that was fixed so those are the type of things that you can expect to see fixed in these ius 12 updates here in 2020 nothing too crazy just fixes like that and you know security patches if there are vulnerabilities that are out there in the wild and if you guys are into jailbreaking just know that checkrain will work for ios 12.4.8 so you can go ahead and update and then just re-jailbreak your device using check rain no problem now as far as the performance goes i've been using my iphone 6 and my iphone 5s here on 12.4.8 for a couple of hours now and they seem the same to me as ios 12.4.7 now of course i don't use these devices too much i'm focused now on ios 14 and ios 13 but i did use these a lot when 12.4.7 came out and then i do remember how those performed and compared to 12.4.8 they feel pretty much exactly the same which is a good thing the performance is actually really good on these devices multitasking is fast opening up applications is fast i don't recommend playing you know heavy games like pub g or anything like that just because it is going to lag a little bit but as far as you know simple games like subway surfers and you know just being on social media and things like that everything is perfectly fine here on 12.4.8 no complaints especially for having just one gigabyte of ram things are really solid and as far as the battery life goes battery life is also probably going to be the same as 12.4.7 i highly doubt the apple would change or even touch anything related to the battery unless there was something terribly wrong with the previous release which there was not so i would not expect any changes at all to the battery life so now should you update to ios 12.4.8 and i say yes there's absolutely no reason not to update i mean you're going to have a more secure device you're still going to be able to jailbreak using check rain and you may even have better performance or better battery life you never know so i would just go ahead and update there's really again no downside to it at all and you get a more secure device which these older devices nowadays are a lot less secure than the newer devices just based on the hardware inside so you guys more than anybody need to be aware of all the security flaws out there and keep your devices updated now i also wanted to address some comments that i got on my ios 12.4.7 video a couple months back related to the iphone 5s and the iphone 6 on these ios 12 updates here in 2020 so you can see here char 64 said hey i was just wondering if my iphone 6 will ever get dark mode and like i mentioned earlier no if you have an iphone 5s or an iphone 6 unfortunately you will never get dark mode apple is not going to introduce that in an ios 12 update here in 2020 again it's mainly for bug fixes and security enhancements so no do not expect dark mode anytime and then you can see kkp here said i'm just wondering if you could possibly make a video that helps our old feeble devices run a bit faster my old mini 3 is very laggy so obviously these are older devices so they are going to be laggy there's really nothing you can do i think that the number one thing that leads to lag though is the lack of storage space so if you don't have a lot of storage space i would go ahead and clear that up i noticed that my iphone 5s runs really slow because it's 16 gigabytes when it's getting close to full on storage so i'll make sure that you don't have a ton of storage being taken up use icloud you know utilize all those cloud solutions so that you don't take up so much storage space on your device with like photos and things like that so that'd be my number one thing and then obviously just don't complain about lag if you're using such an old device because that's just how it's going to be these days compared to the newer devices and then we have a nice long comment here from sharebox or shearbox you can see here that they said that their 5s is running 12.4.6 in almost one year and the performance is good even the battery and yesterday they updated to ios 12.4.7 and they noticed some things there so they said that ios 12.4.7 fixed the heating issue although the battery percentage bug is still there so they said for example you have a battery of 50 and when you power it off and turning it on again it drops down to thirty percent so i think that's not a bug i think that's just a bad battery you may need a new battery maybe it's just not reading properly and you know check your battery health because it may not be a very healthy battery and you can see there they said 12.4.7 performance is much faster than 12.4.6 also fixed the laggy issue so that's good to hear as well and they said that battery life is extended and they're using wi-fi while playing games and using youtube and things like that so they're saying that 12.4.7 the last update was good but apple needs to fix the battery percentage issue and once again i don't necessarily think that's a bug per se it could just be your battery itself so 12.47 was solid for him and i've read that from multiple people as well and smaller versions of that comment you know so 12.47 was great and you can expect 12.4.8 to be pretty much the same just with added security so yeah guys there you have it that is just a quick video on ios 12.4.8 really not too much to talk about just letting you guys know that it has been released i like making these videos no matter how big or small the update is just to keep you guys as informed as possible and if you guys want me to keep making these videos on the ius 12 updates here in 2020 let me know with a like and also down what they comment below also let me know in a comment down below if you're running the iphone 6 or the iphone 5s and just let me know overall how this new 12.4.8 update is running for you i am very curious just since i don't use these devices as much as some of you guys might but anyways guys thanks again for watching and i'll see you soon youwhat's up guys my name is brandon and in addition to ios 13.6 apple released ios 12.4.8 today for older devices that are not supported
