something cool to cross Jimmy all right Tony we got a lot of stuff going on here where do we start we start with the chassis usually we start like doing the front suspension put it together then we work on our way towards the backoo carbon fiber first step to our RC drag car build is the body Jimmy can cheap out with the pre-made kit for his car but our chassis is a little more theoretical right now if we want Peak Performance we're going to have to build it from scratch our goal today is to combine the best parts that money can buy into one super car and it starts with the right material so back when we did RC drift cars we used machined aluminum parts but for our dragster cars we're going with carbon fiber bodies and plastic components plastic is good because it's durable and light and it's easy to replace so a lot of breaking happen in the drag world oh yeah a lighter body means less Mass to propel forward Bo which lets us get up to full speed much faster this is high speed all right you're trying to hit 100 mph you need to be smart and with that we're done our custommade body is much lighter than Jimmy's out of the box body which puts him at quite the disadvantage on low team we're starting with a ready to run kit so all we really need to do is trip off all the base parts we don't need and replace them with the upgrades unlike Justin I can do this without Tony's help uh okay so maybe I'll need a little bit of his help the main goal today is to reduce our car's weight and improve its performance using upgraded Parts we're going to update the ESC battery of course the servo and your shocks do you think we'd be able to beat Justin at that point or it'd be close okay how about we get to work this ready to run didn't come with the best components so those will need to be replaced place that should be good to go don't have to use the drill every time okay sometimes I like to get a little workout I have to get stronger I have to get stronger I got to get starting from scratch means we're going to have to wire up all the electronics ourselves and I mean everything which can be well challenging but luckily I've got a professional everything's not connected just yet because we need to go ahead and dial and adjust everything to its final form we've hit our first snag uh even on high team you're running into technical difficulties so our $300 radio for whatever reason is not registering breakes or reversed and we need to figure out why but we also need to get going so we're going to continue and then worry about this later we can get everything else dialed in before we figure this problem out so let's just go ahead and complete the car and then we'll deal with this later what would you say is your worst nightmare is an RC drag racer blown EC okay has that ever happened to you oh go a lot you could blow up to maybe five ESC in One race really yeah that's during that's during testing okay note to self don't blow up the ESC things are going pretty smoothly on low team's end but then we're going to have to cut our Ready to Run Bracket right where this mounting hole is so that means we are going to be missing a mounting Hole uh which you know isn't a big deal we blew basically our whole Budget on these upgrades but a lot of them aren't 100% compatible with our to run kit we're missing screws mounting points and everything you'd need to hold the car together thankfully Tony had a solution so we we don't need to shave that do we just need to double side it we don't even have a mount for our motor we're just going to use double-sided tape the good news is this car is coming together in no time the bad news is it's held together with tape and dreams all right so Tony finished putting some double-sided tape on the ESC motor now we're going to put it in also Tony put in some nice foam blocks that makes our battery really stable it's not going to going to move anywhere yeah we're missing one screw it's fine it's not like we're going to be going 70 mph I'm going to work on the front shocks to get in these nice tlr units right now we've got some basic stock looking shocks and that's just not going to do we want something that's going to make our ride stable so so I feel like I'm starting to understand this I feel like a lifetime of building Lego kits has really prepared me for this moment um it's a little bit more intricate but at the end of the day it's all just building blocks I just got to put this last shock together and then uh good to put them on the car and then we're pretty much finished right Tony Yep this is taking a lot longer than we thought it took us a whole day just to build the body and we still haven't figured out our transmitter issues but we don't have time for that because we need to assemble our wheels so what we have here are actual rubber tires these wheels are super light super simple now we have to put this foam inside of them and then we're going to get to gluing and then they have to sit for 24 hours to set so yeah I had a bit of an accident with the glue so um my work is being shown at this point another High car with the messed up looking wheel so yeah things are going slowly and we still have to build the body for this thing luckily this is high team and we have all the money so before we even started I bought my own body and had it custom painted so it's ready to go so while our tires are drying uh Tony actually had an extra set so that we get the full effect of my sick new body and I didn't just get any body I got something real special markv Supra with a Toyota truck Livery so the body is on it is nice and freshly trimmed and fitted everything's looking good time and put the wheelie bar on a wheelie bar essentially is exactly what it says in the name is a bar for when you do wheelies and it keeps the car on the ground look at that bad boy so now we jump it off the line it only loses its steering for a little bit it's going to keep those aerodynamic uh mathematical calculations consistent whatever I'm tired all right so we're almost done here put the body on we're ready for race day our custombuilt Supercar is an absolute Beast rocking a $500 C built chassis a $250 ESC $200 slick racing tires a $400 battery and charger kit and a $850 Custom Body and Paint Job designed by me we'll still need to figure out what's going on with our $300 transmitter but for now we can bask in all of our work at a cool price of $2,960 what do you got Jimmy all right so I got my wheelie bar on Tony's been helping not with getting our transmitt receiver hooked up until then we got to paint the body this isn't painted I guess in true low team fashion I'm going to have to paint and fit the body myself so so I've prepped the body now it's time to paint I went with low team blue because low team got to go with a blue color got to do a quick prayer that I do this well you know Devil's all in the detail and I think that's what's really going to make me beat Justin in the long run I'm building a bespoke chassis for me all right so finished up putting our decals on there going to get it fitted up to the chassis now and then we're good to go racing okay Justin low car is rocking some fresh new upgrades a new motor for $105 $215 for a new ESC a new Trinity battery with charger for about $250 top that off with my custom paint and body job for $80 in materials then sprinkle it all together with some miscellaneous upgrades bringing our total budget to 1,500 bucks on the nose not too bad with our RC drag cars fully built and looking good it's time to hit the track before the final faceof between high and low car we compared our upgraded cars to the $300 stock ready to run car and it's clear that our upgraded cars are faster and easier to keep in a straight line but the question Still Remains can I beat Justin for half the price all right so I'm going to put my car down for some warm-ups do a
