Gas Station Warning

**Car Maintenance Tips: Safety, Efficiency, and Solutions**

1. **Winter Gasoline Safety Precautions**

When filling up your car with gasoline during the winter, it's crucial to exercise caution due to electrostatic electricity. Touching the car while refueling can cause a spark, potentially igniting gas fumes. Avoid turning off or jumping back into your car while the tank is being filled. In some states, self-service pumps are locked to prevent this hazard, ensuring safer operation.

2. **EGR Valve Issues and Solutions**

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve can malfunction, leading to oil burning and engine damage. Symptoms include blue smoke, a check engine light, or reduced performance. If the EGR valve sticks open, it may suck oil into the combustion chamber. Replacing the EGR valve is often necessary, but rebuilding it can be cost-effective. Additionally, replacing ignition coils and spark plugs can resolve misfiring issues, as faulty components are common causes.

3. **Using Regular Fuel: A Cost-Effective Choice**

High-end vehicles like the GMC Sierra Denali don't necessarily require premium fuel. Modern engines are designed to handle various fuels efficiently. Using regular gas saves money without significantly affecting performance, given the vehicle's ample horsepower reserves. Testing with a mix of premium and regular can help determine if premium is essential for your specific model.

4. **Addressing Blown Halogen Lights**

A blown halogen bulb can cause electrical noise when removed. Temporarily fix it by securing wiring with twist ties to prevent contact. If the original part is unavailable, consider replacing the headlamp assembly. Exercise caution with aftermarket parts and ensure proper installation to avoid further issues.

5. **Charging Electric Cars in Apartments: Challenges and Solutions**

Electric car owners face challenges in apartments due to limited charging options. Installing a 220-volt charger can be costly and complex, especially if you don't own the property. Check local laws for rights to install chargers. If using an extension cord, ensure it's visible and safe, with ramps for accessibility. Be mindful of theft risks when charging outside.

By following these tips, drivers can enhance safety, reduce costs, and avoid common pitfalls in car maintenance and usage.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enrev up your engin when you're filling your car up with gasoline in the winter do not think oh it's really cold I'll turn it on I'll jump back in the car not a smart idea in the winter it's cold and it's real dry touch your car you feel that shock a zap well that's electrostatic electricity creating a little lightning bolt to your car if you're filling your car up gasoline and you touch the car's door opening and closing it you could actually start on fire that's gas fumes that are coming out but a lot of people don't understand this liquid gasoline isn't really that dangerous if you had a bucket of liquid gasoline you could throw matches in it I even tried it and they won't go on fire cuz it's out in the open it's a bucket of liquid gasoline if you have gasoline Vapors and that match hits the vapors woof and what's coming out of your car when you're filling your car with gasoline the vapors are coming out out that whoosh noise you hear are some of the vapor coming back out you do not want to get out of your car start to fill it up go back in touch the car you might go woof now a lot of States you can't actually do that because like New Jersey they don't even allow you to fill up your own car there also states that they took the little lock off of the pump so the pump handle when you turn it on you can't push the little piece let go and it'll fill itself up when you let go it stops pumping you have to stand there and hold it now it's an annoyance to some people but actually it's much safer to do it that way that actually does make a whole bunch of sense think about it next time before you click it in a quick jump back in your car because of course on top of it if you read the signs it says no smoking well your car is always smoking a little bit you don't want to be filling your car up while the engine is running for two reasons one it might blow up and the second reason is most cars have evap anti-pollution systems and if you have your car running and you're filling it up you're going to end up with a check engine light because the car is running it knows the gas cap is off and it will trip a code for that and your check engine light will come on so don't do it use your head be safe and do it right coach 2478 says got an 06 Mercury Milan four cylinder it uses about a quart every two fill ups so every 400 mil or so it burns a cart of oil it's got 187,000 Mi run fine no blue smoke no leaks I replace the valve gasket two years ago what can I do numer Uno get a new EGR valve and pray us that the EGR valve takes exhaust gas and it brings back in the engine and burns it an EGR valve has a little spring-loaded ball system it will allow you to suck the oil Vapor but not the oil but if the ball sticks open then it will suck the oil and burn it too simple prayer said if it's not it's burning oil baby and there's nothing you can do about it other than they keep adding o you would have to rebuild the engine valve seals piston rings and it's an 06 Mercury with 180 something it's not worth it you say it runs great just live with it keep adding oil don't forget to add the oil don't forget oh gee burn oil I forgot to put it on I've had that happen the customers they'll go on a trip somewhere and they'll forget and then boom the engine blows up on a trip if you're going to do that my advice get four or five quarts of oil throw them in a trunk so he always got oil and every time you fill it up with gas check the oil dgo W says Scotty got an 08 Honda accorded as multiple misfires P 301 302 305 and 306 could it be caused by the vcm what do you think about having a vcm bypass yes vcm can cause things like that if they don't work right I'd advise bypassing it anyways because you got 130,000 m hopefully it's not burning much oil now if you keep that system on it will eventually burn a lot of oil because it makes the engines warp inside hot cylinder cold one when it deactivates hot cylinder next do it it's not good for an engine over time they fall apart because of that but you got cylinder one two five and six misfiring right that means three and four aren't misfiring so take the three and four ignition coils put the one and two on three and four and then if the three and four start misfiring the ignition coils and buy a set of ignition coils could be that simple PR it's that simple cuz you can have a blown head gas g you can have all kinds of problems that do that but I know often it's just bad ignition coils and that's a really easy way to check it those are all misfiring you swap it with two that aren't misfiring and then those two cylinders start misfiring when they have the old coils from the ones that were Mis you know it's coils simple change the spark plugs too while you're at it I mean do the whole thing and then yeah you can buy a whole set buy all six and six spark plugs if that made a change and of course look at them if they're old and crack it's an 08 16-year-old vehicle but do look at the plugs they could be worn out too BR G says a reach any Pur to use 6month old GMC Sierra Denali ultimate pickup with 3,000 Mi it's got a 6.2 V8 engine and the manual says it has to have premium octane fuel what do you think does it really need premium fuel no all modern cars are so set up with computers that can run on any kinds of different Fuel and that thing will run perfectly fine on regular fuel realize those are tremendous gas Hogs the Denali right and it's bad enough that you're going to get really crappy gas modile imagine if you're paying a140 a gallon more for that same gasoline you do not need to that's a line of horse manure just use regular gas I got plenty of customers driving around and they use regular gas on it now you might lose a tiny amount of horsepower but hey that thing's got so much horsepower it doesn't really matter and when you consider the high price of premium gas versus regular and what a Giant gas hog that thing is in the first place man a lot you're going to be spending a fortune on necessarily if you put premium fuel in that thing all the time if you want to just do a test okay you got premium in it now right wait till you're almost empty under a quarter of a tank fill it up then drive it hard the next 200 miles see if you notice anything difference and you probably won't J Castle says I have a blown hallogen head like hanging loose I bought a truck from an auction they only spliced one wiring harness on the passenger side and ran power from the passenger side to the power driver side the hogen light blew on the driver's side they don't make that ball anymore so I put the OE assembly back in and connected the wiring it worked fine but I noticed when I took the hogen light off it made an O circuit noise when I turned the key I put the ball back in and the noise stopped can I leave the blown hallogen light hanging what should I do well you don't want to touching anything get yourself some twist ties and stuff and make the wiring is tight so it could just be sitting there go ahead you said you put the original wiring back on whoever wired that thing was an idiot why did they do that they did that cuz they're lazy and there's a problem in the wiring system and rather than finding what the problem was they just said well we got the one side working so we'll just splice it over to the other side and I wouldn't know what they've actually done to that wiring system but if you find that when you got that bulb in there and it's not having any problems with it like that tighten it so it doesn't hit anything with some twist ties you know the electrical sh zip ties and as long as it's not touching anything it's not going to hurt anything but I'd be real leery you said you bought it at an auction I'm assuming that baby's probably going to have electrical problems up the woo if the people work on it did crazy stuff like that well now here's one of the biggest stinkers for electric cars unless you're in your own house where you can charge them up conveniently you're still going to have to pay to put a 220 volt charger in cuz if you use 110 it can take days to charge it up so you got to do that but let's say you live in an apartment or someplace you can't do that well you're kind of screwed over showing yet another hole in the electric car scheme here's what people in California are doing for those living in an apartment or condo landlords or homeowners so often stand in the way of public charging but experts say you can look up the local right to charge laws regulations that require homeowners associations or landlords to allow residents to install charging 10 states have the right to charge laws on the books in California and Colorado renders or homers have the right to install charging at private parking space or in a public area okay you're living somewhere and you got to threaten your landl now that sounds like a great idea plus to top it all off if you're paying to install something there then when you move there goes your money I have had customers have them installed at their house the units aren't that bad right I've got this sawel unit it works fine right and it was like 550 bucks but it cost me two grand to get it wired up to the house and a lot of places are going to charge even more than that are you really going to install something in a place you don't own you threw that money away right then you got to go someplace else you'd have to pay again I mean there's rules for everything listen to this drivers who park on the street if our novel ways using extension cards over the sidewalk but in these situations drivers should be careful not to run a foul of local laws some municipalities explicitly allow over the sidewalk charging as part of a strategy as long as they provide a highly visible ramp over the cord for accessibility concerns Cambridge Massachusetts and Seattle's have similar rules Seattle they got bums running all over the place right but if you're charging your car over the sidewalk you got to get a ramp that they approve to go over it electric cars for most people are a joke and they're trying to push this crap on people they got laws that say one thing and then other well you got to make sure you follow laws if you have a cord going out right and I mean come on talk about a halfway measure you're plugging something in your house and running it through the door on the sidewalk to charge up your car come on now plus the charge is going to be outside people are going to steal them those things cost 550 to 800 bucks or even more you got that sitting outside don't think people are going to unplug when just steal the stupid things do these people think of all the ramifications of the stupid crap that they're trying to voed upon the public I don't think they do now I'll give you some advice that'll keep you from going up in Flames so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos remember to ring that Bell n\n"
