**Troubleshooting Common Issues with Your Monitor**
If you're having trouble with your monitor, don't worry - it's not the end of the world just yet. You can always look up for a different video to understand what might be causing the issue, but let's dive into some common problems and solutions together.
One user mentioned that their monitor was flickering, had color problems, or even had a vertical line, which might seem like an unusual issue. However, there are ways to address these problems. In one case, they used calibration tools to help resolve the issues. It's worth noting that some monitors may require specific settings or adjustments to get them working properly.
**Display Specifications**
Before we move on to any troubleshooting, let's take a look at the specifications of this particular monitor. On the bottom of the display, you'll find two HDMI 1.2 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port. These ports allow you to connect your monitor to multiple devices at once, making it perfect for use as a KVM (Keyboard, Video, and Mouse) switch. The two downstream or input USB ports also enable you to connect this device to two different PCs simultaneously.
**Color Accuracy and HDR**
As for color accuracy, the user reports that the monitor ships with some documentation explaining its capabilities. Unfortunately, this particular model does not have HDR (High Dynamic Range), which might be a concern for some users who prioritize this feature. However, it's worth noting that the colors displayed on this monitor are indeed professional-grade accurate.
**Other Features and Specifications**
In addition to the ports and color accuracy, let's take a look at some other features of this monitor. There is a USB Type-C connector on the back of the device, which might seem like Thunderbolt at first glance. However, it appears to be a powered USB port, allowing you to charge your laptop or other devices while using the monitor as a full dock.
One important clarification: despite what the Dell website might say, this monitor does not swivel. However, you can still adjust the display by pivoting the base, which is hardly an issue in practice.
**Software Features**
The user also downloaded and installed some software to take advantage of this monitor's features. The Dell Display Manager is a useful tool that allows you to split your screen into multiple sections, making it perfect for multitasking. You can select from various options, such as splitting the screen horizontally or vertically, or even customizing the size of each window.
To illustrate this feature, let's say we want to create two windows with specific sizes. We can shrink one window down to a smaller size and then use the Display Manager to resize it further. Alternatively, we can adjust the size of both windows simultaneously using the software. This level of customization is incredibly useful for productivity and multitasking.
With these features and specifications in mind, you should be able to troubleshoot common issues with your monitor or explore new ways to use this device.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enoh here we have the box for the Dell you forty nine one nine DW when I say box I just want to keep panning back here so you get an idea the scale of this thing yes that is a cart and on top of it I put a might 22 inch monitor so you get an idea of the scale of this box so let's just walk around so you can see all that there is to see it is enormous is an understatement let's open it up and then we'll configure it okay so now it's laid down flat let's open it up manual UltraSharp guide it's lovely something up here let's just go through it this is obviously a stand yeah that is one heavy stand okay so let's just get this open is a very heavy base so which door number one to surprise the mounting bracket let's just see how that fits in here which I'm pretty sure manual for that in put it over just put a little stuff nothing too exciting congratulations I've already got something accomplished isn't that nice up down swivels looks like gonna go everywhere the returns no it doesn't turn it's a bit of a surprise that's tilt okay three razor cover as my gifts for the ports now that's the back of the monitor that's good for here is cables so we have mine we have USB type-c probably Thunderbolt we have USB three we have full DisplayPort and we have a lovely power boy so I think that's it for this top layer of the way okay so this indicates that there are two grab holds here and there are and it says don't grab it here so I'm not going to do that however I do want to put the base on and so I just took a look at the startup manual the Quick Start manual and the Quick Start manual much to my surprise told me to do exactly what I was going to do which is to put the mount on while it's in the box so one of the things while they want to do the box and you just lift that up like that back now one of the things that I had missed in the top layer packaging were these screws so I went back and I've just found those so let's attach this perfect August 1 with cover plate on presumably just got similar looks if I start from the top push down there he goes I'll flip the pocket back open but you don't care about that because you'll probably never take this off so the unit says that it should be picked up by two people one from the same one from that end I don't have two people so I'm just gonna make it happen oh yeah one person can lift that that's not a problem okay so it's telling you something very important here which is do not bruise the monitor don't put weight pressure on the monitor all with your hand make sure you're touching the bezel it's just that this night breakfast pulls off that's just on tape there we go ladies and gentlemen this one big monitor okay so let's take a look at the ports and then we will fire it up and see how it works so I just moved that unit by myself yes it's heavy but it's more awkward than heavy so it's a bit of a beast but one person can easily move this by themselves as long as they have a comfortable place to put it down I don't have to jam it into your tight space I think one person could move it without too much effort especially if there's a cart to help move it around but let's just take a look at the ports now and we'll go from there so so there's a bunch of USB ports there's a Type C port most like there is a display port and there's HDMI one and two and then a little further down is power let's just take a look underneath and see if there's anything here or USB on the other side there is nothing but buttons so that is that there's nothing on the edges of a top of already looked at flip around and see if we get this thing working so at this point I have plugged it in to both DisplayPort and to our friend mr. power and it's asking for language so I will just default it to English initial setup select yes to enable functions all those low types he charging I don't see why not but I'm gonna leave it on default for the moment let's see what we get okay so it came up it came up with the wrong resolution initially it took me one second to change it let's just take a look at what I've done here okay so reposition the camera so you can actually see some of this because the screen is so wide if I widen it out you won't be able to see you hope to see anything on the screen it's just so much so the short version of this goes that this is running off of an ancient you know four four year old I 546 70 on a dell optiplex 90 20 which is as old as anybody's ever gonna have running something like this and without a dedicated graphics unit this is the GPU that's in here is the Intel HD 4600 and you can see it's working just fine so as far as screen resolution goes the display resolution came up originally at 4k the 3840 by 1080 didn't look very good so it took me one second to change it to the 50 120 by 1440 which is native ok case you're wondering the background image is fuzzy it was not shot at this resolution this image is very very old so just ignore that let's just go through the menus and take a quick look so the right button the left far left button it was power just going to start with the far right and it takes me touch what you'd expect basically you know color brightness input and menu it's good to go to menu see if there's anything interesting in there and there we go let's see we have brightness that's normal I'm not going to go through that I don't see anything interesting there display what I'd like in here is this this is the screen splitting this is useful so I want to turn that on let's go to video swap yeah so that's so you can plug in two distinct systems into the one and have it work that's pretty cool too well let's go back here let's go over some DP okay for DisplayPort yeah so which do you want on it okay so that's interesting that I was looking for what I'm looking for is to split these screens into three virtual screens because I have software that requires three different screens and I know I can set it up through Windows through this piece of software I would prefer not to do that so I'm gonna turn this off again let's go back to mode over off and we'll be back there we go and back to menu and let's go down to USB selection see what that does okay nothing too exciting there menu transparency timer lock language all the standard stuff personalized let's go to others and see what's in others well there's firmware and conditioning so conditioning is a big deal these days if you've got to monitor basically the well to make a long story short you're gonna need to know what conditioning gonna need to run conditioning once in a while especially on these larger monitors probably every year or two nothing you need to worry about right now you can look it up for a different video but basically if you having troubles with your monitor its flickering its having color problems even I've actually seen conditioning to even help when they were in one case where they were there was a vertical line which I would have not thought would have been practical but anyway there it is so before we let you go let's run over some of the specs that you may or may not be expecting to see here on the bottom let's go over the port's first there are two HDMI 1.2 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port there are also two downstream or input USB ports and you might be thinking you know why is that well it's because you can connect this as we showed in the display settings earlier to two different pcs at the same time and thus this Dell unit has a KVM built-in so you can use a single keyboard mouse on it so that's the logic behind that as far as color goes the unit as I said looks very very good unfortunately this picture is not an accurate representation it looks a little blurry but that's because the pictures little blurry so don't don't fret about that this however does not have HDR and it only refreshes at 60 frames per minute now I did talk to some people who had one so they got it to cycle at 70 without any problems it was nice and stable but if you're looking for you know 100 120 of frame rate if you're and gamer it's probably not the right one for you as far as color accuracy goes it does ship with some documentation explaining how accurate the colors are and it is brilliant so the accuracy is professional-grade you will like it so just a correction what I said earlier there's a USB type-c connector on the back of this and I was guessing that that was a thunderbolt apparently what it actually is is a powered USB so you can power your laptop or other devices apparently as enough juice coming off with this - to do that so effectively this becomes a full dock for you which is pretty nice there's just doing the math on this by the way 50 120 by 1440 is over 7 million pixels of resolution here also there's a mistake on the Dell website that I've reported it says that this swivels you can't see this but just because it's just too big but just trust me it the base itself does not swivel which I mentioned while we were taking out of the box but I want to mention again here however it's really not an issue just take monitor and pivot it so it does go back and forth this way it does tilt and it does know quite a ways down quite a ways up but it does not swivel so if you want to swell the light you're going to swivel the base and that's hardly a crisis but just a clarification that you may want to be aware of so I've also downloaded the del driver which was not required for the monitor I've also downloaded the firmware which was also not required because it was the firmware that shipped the software that is useful is called the del display manager and I can go into the larger del display manager here and this is the software used to split the screen virtually into multiple screen so let me just show you what that means so I have just selected this one and you can see this has one window two windows then and so on and so forth you may just want to split it into two horizontal vertical but the most interesting thing is this if I go here let's take this window and I'm going to make it let's do something really stupid like let's make this so I'll shrink it down this way so let's make a window that's that size it really wants to snap it so let's drop it there let's make a window that is let me get the rest of the size here so I will make this quite large task manager' all the way over there we go and then I will make Excel that size and of what I want it to be a larger so I can go over here now to the display manager and I can say I would like it to be these windows that I have currently set up I'm gonna click Save and there it is now the windows are whatever I just defined these s so take a look at this I can take the Excel and I can make it smaller Excel window but now say I want the display to be in the main window here I can move it over and it will snap that size which is pretty cool I can move Excel down bottom and let's snap it into that window so you get the idea it's pretty cool that's really all you need to know I think at this point if you have any questions or concerns please get ahold of us at www.seannal.com youoh here we have the box for the Dell you forty nine one nine DW when I say box I just want to keep panning back here so you get an idea the scale of this thing
