a maiden voyage for me in this thing uh taking a break from my yeah the warpath 1965 uh c10 truck here um grant guthrie owned the guy to florida he actually drove this car around on the street stock decided he wanted to be the fastest full-size truck in the world and uh and achieved the first three second pass in a full-size truck this thing went 398. man a couple years ago i think actually jeff miller was driving it it ended up going 392 and then had some trouble engine failure and whatnot setting back for a little while and uh guys at modern racing which is where i work day-to-day we went through the whole truck fixed it got the motor repaired uh you know it hurt the transmission and converter i mean it did a number on it so we just got it back together uh grant called me up said hey man you want to drive the war path and of course you know i'll drive yeah if i'll drive beer money i'll drive any staring at it forever i'm sure you're so uh it's hard not to fall in love with this oh yeah so tell me about the power plant combo so just old school brad six uh 521 inch hemi okay some really old school if you want to call it twin 106 precision man they're uh they've been around for a little while um poly efi controls the whole truck boost controller engine management data logging is all through the holley um billet atomizer fuel injectors mark mickey turbo 400 uh pro torque torque converter mensers came over and helped us a little bit with the shocks and whatnot so just a cool piece dude grant's done a great job with it he painted this whole thing with ace hardware rattle cam seriously on his own i came over here to see if it was all steel but there's not much steel left now he's done a really good job making a patina to fit the bird he did it over a two week span in his garage painted one body panel at and it's rattle for real and it's got ace what'd you say grant ace hardware satin clear set and clear that's owner clear satin clear i like that any guesses and how much power this combo is good for if it's turned on man you know all you can do is base it off of some of the hub dyno numbers you've seen i mean i think turned up the thing probably makes over five thousand um you know i would say we're running it somewhere in the 4 000 horsepower range you know we really haven't 3 500 we really haven't leaned on it much capable of making 5000 but we're not gonna try that today you know how much does it win to be honest i don't know i haven't been over the skills yet i did not cross the scales we don't have to in the no time truck class okay so um top secret what it weighs i think long as it has a tailgate it goes yeah that's all that matters you uh put full size in quotations and you can run truck class gotcha well first round second round's you know this thing was brand new to me brand new to pete and uh all new stuff grant's had some unfortunate's had some bad luck with it over the past so we're being super conservative and super careful you know we just want to peck away at it i mean we're picking up substantial amounts every every time we run so it's headed in the right direction at least you know smooth on that we'll have truck and the 1909 that's always been my number that's the year that geronimo died so i do that in remembrance of him that's really that's always been my number nice little memorial the warpath crowd is going to be celebrating tonight for sure one hell of performance here at lights out it's a no client no time class but i'm guessing he was somewhere in the threes today just guessing i don't know a lot of these trucks have been in the 4-0s track was great last night maybe even last night i don't know but they're going home with five thousand dollars probably cost more to run that truck this
