Atari 2600 MY 5 Games! ... The last Game Hunter!
**A Tribute to Atari: A Gaming Icon**
I still remember playing my first Atari game and being blown away by its simplicity and complexity at the same time. It was one of those games that you went around finding keys to unlock doors, and then you had to get gauntlet or whatever to return to your main castle - it was unbelievable fun! Can I still play it today? Yes, and that's what makes it so awesome - it's a game that actually stands up today.
Sitting down with my daughters to try and get them to play Atari is something I wish more people would do. The game was so great that it does stand up today, and now that I know about all the Easter eggs and different things that are going on in this game, I want to try and find them - you know, like all the little things that were hidden in these games that we don't know about until today.
The world of YouTube is full of people talking about Atari games, but back in the day, there was no way for the author to be able to put who made the game on the back. Atari was basically the one who made the game - they didn't get any credit from the publisher or the designer. But that's not all - Atari had its own little things in the game to trademark their own signature.
There's Easter eggs in Atari games, and it's amazing to think about why they were hidden there in the first place. It was to create a sense of community among players who discovered these hidden gems. The more you look at Atari games from the past, like ET and Asteroids, the more you realize that there's so much history behind this stuff - it's just awesome to dig into.
One of my favorite Atari games is Adventure. I remember taking a bridge to cross over walls - it was magical! And then there was the suit service hanging off the bottom, with a magnet to pick things up and drag around. It was breaking and creaking as you could see - I loved it!
Defender is another game that holds a special place in my heart. When I wasn't playing Yars Revenge or Pac-Man, Defender was always on the screen. I was really good at it, but I still get chills when I hear the iconic sound effects - it's just one of those games you can't help but smile at.
Defender is definitely number one on my list of favorite Atari games. My friend even noticed that I was smiling from ear to ear, and he asked me what game we were playing - it was Defender! He liked it too, so we had a great time playing it together.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad I didn't play as many Atari games as I did other consoles. This is definitely a system that I've overlooked a lot, but it's one that I played a lot - and I think it's because of its impact on the gaming industry. Atari started everything, and for that, we should be eternally grateful.
So, guys, let me know your top five Atari games in the comments below! Have you got any favorite Atari memories or stories to share? This is definitely a system that deserves some love - and I'm excited to see what everyone has to say about it. Thank You, Atari - you may not be around today, but your legacy lives on through the countless hours of fun and entertainment you brought us.

the free pass is that everything not everything you can you're nearly 300 different carpentry hundred there's nothing something it's not everything soon there'll be a voice module trackball remote control joystick and for now the Atari 2600 now get up to $30 in rebate offers plus a free pac-man hi guys welcome welcome welcome welcome to another episode the my 5 Atari 2600 games that I picked to be my top 5 due to nostalgia due to playability what brought back the most memories so what put the biggest grin on my face and not necessarily the best games but they definitely were the game so I would call my top 5 based on the peace thoughts so starting with number 5 is commando now I love commando on just about every single platform but this is not the commando that I would go back to and say is my best commit our favorite version of this commando but it was fun and it was simplified due to the fact that you had a stick and one button whereas today I mean it's still mostly just a stick of one button but it's a gamepad or whatever and the stick just made it a little easier guys commando was pretty cool I mean it started the whole in my thought it started the whole top down shooter thing for me and I'm a big top-down shooter guy as you guys probably already are aware of and the graphics are a little cheesy compared to when I go to the like converse 64 version or ColecoVision or whatever definitely Nintendo write nintendo graphics for this game was so much better but the game was still very playable and so much fun so commando made it to my number 5 based on it did start the top-down shooter genre for me and that will always be something that stays in my heart now the next game definitely was something warm for me I remember walking into a Kmart back in Canada when Kmart was still a big thing Kmart was huge I mean that was the place to go to to get discount games especially Atari games and I walked in and I found double dragon now double dragon went missing on me way way back moving or whatever happened and I don't even know what happened to my original Atari console so unfortunately the box and all that is gone for me and I did find it again actually I found this one and another copy and bottling for Jeff and bought one for me because it's just a big nostalgic game for me definitely not the best Double Dragon version out there but it is so much fun and it was so simplified again at this point you only had one button and your stick whereas in the other double dragons I was able to do two button for different hunter Kings and of course I put the stick or whatever to do your jumps so this one was often whatever you hit the button it would do something based on that or if you're back on and you hit a button he'd get an elbow it was just a fun game and to be honest it pushed the envelope for the Atari 2600 the graphics on this was pushing this console to its max in my opinion and it just blew my mind that it wasn't a stickman game on the Atari 2600 - next on my list is gonna be no surprise to anybody because anybody that was in my era and played the Atari 2600 you were a fan of pac-man you were a massive fan of pac-man I mean who does not like this little yellow guy the one on eating these little ghost blinky and stinky and whatever you want to call them but this game oh my god I felt like I was a champion back then I could play this and go for hours without dying now I play three or four rounds and I'm dead like I just don't have that the reflexes or my joystick doesn't work as good as it used to or I don't work as good as I used to I'm gonna go with that one but he's just absolutely amazing and I remember I mean now I'll get this pain here complaining for a certain length of time we would break sticks off like whoo I don't know how many times been to rush to our local Kmart just to pick up another Atari joystick just because of like playing for so long and then get angry and put oh the sticks not working the way it used to but definitely pac-man comes in at my number three just because it was a game that I played not only by myself forever but when my friends came over we just sat there and played this game for hours pac-man even today stands up for playability and that matters now one thing I'm disappointed in myself in I wonder I don't know if I've misplaced it or I don't know if I ever had it again but I can't find my adventure now a venture for me is definitely my number two I played this game forever it was just one of those maze / I don't know hacker I don't even know if I want to call it a hack and slash because it really isn't but this game you you went around you had to find keys to unlock doors and then you had to get gauntlet or whatever to return to your main castle and it was just unbelievable fun can i still play it today yes and that's what makes it so awesome it's a game actually I think but sitting down with my daughters to try and get them to play because the game was so buying it I think came on the Gamecube did so on defender was the game for me when I went to my Atari wall if I wasn't playing like yars revenge or pac-man or or so on defender I mean if I turn
