McLaren 650S - Early Thoughts and Improvements on 12C

The Author's Experience with the McLaren 650S and Its Comparison to the 12C

When I decided to purchase a McLaren, I initially considered buying the 12C. However, after researching the model and reading reviews from other owners, I realized that the 650S was an even better option. One of the main reasons for this was the fact that the 650S had undergone significant updates since its introduction, including improved suspension, brakes, and aerodynamics.

I must say that I was blown away by the improvements made to the 650S. The new suspension system is designed to provide a more comfortable ride while still maintaining exceptional handling and performance capabilities. Additionally, the brake setup has been upgraded to deliver even more stopping power and control. These upgrades, combined with other modifications, make the 650S an incredibly well-rounded car that excels in both everyday driving and high-performance driving.

One of the standout features of the 650S is its ability to pressurize all four wheels simultaneously, which provides a significant improvement in traction and stability. This feature, often referred to as "slipper suspension," allows the car to maintain control even when cornering at high speeds or braking hard. It also helps to reduce wear on the brake pads and rotors, making it a win-win situation for both the driver and the car.

Another factor that contributed to my decision to buy the 650S was its refined steering. The new suspension system works in conjunction with a more advanced electric power steering setup to provide a responsive and precise driving experience. This makes the car feel incredibly agile and fun to drive, even when cruising down British countryside roads.

As I began testing the 650S on my own, I realized that it was indeed a significant improvement over the 12C. The increased performance capabilities, combined with its improved handling and braking, made it an absolute blast to drive. Whether I was cruising around town in Matic mode or pushing the car to its limits on twisty roads, I couldn't help but feel like I had finally found my perfect supercar.

One of the most significant advantages of the 650S over the 12C is its price point. While it may seem counterintuitive to pay more for a car that's actually better than the one you already own, I firmly believe that it was worth every penny. The upgrades and improvements made to the 650S are simply unmatched by any other supercar on the market.

As I continued to test drive the 650S, I began to appreciate its ability to deliver exceptional performance in a variety of driving conditions. Whether I was driving through heavy traffic or cruising down open roads, the car always felt confident and responsive. It's clear that McLaren has put an enormous amount of thought and effort into creating a truly exceptional driving experience.

My Experience with the 650S: A Hands-On Review

I recently had the opportunity to test drive a brand-new McLaren 650S, and I was blown away by its performance capabilities. The car's acceleration is simply phenomenal, with the 0-60 mph time dipping below 3 seconds. Whether I was cruising down the highway or taking on twisty roads, the 650S felt like it was glued to the asphalt.

As I drove the 650S, I was struck by its exceptional handling and braking capabilities. The car's ability to hug the road and maintain control is simply incredible, even when cornering at high speeds. The brakes, too, are incredibly effective, providing a level of stopping power that's unmatched by any other supercar on the market.

But what really sets the 650S apart from its competitors is its ability to deliver exceptional performance in everyday driving situations. Whether I was cruising around town or commuting to work, the car felt comfortable and refined, with minimal vibrations or noise intrusion.

The Interior of the 650S: A Refinement of Expectations

One of the things that struck me most about the 650S was its interior design. The car's cockpit is simply exceptional, with a sleek and minimalist aesthetic that feels both luxurious and sporty at the same time. The materials used throughout the cabin are top-notch, with premium leather and Alcantara upholstery providing a level of sophistication and refinement.

The dashboard itself is beautifully designed, with a series of intuitive controls and displays that make it easy to navigate the various settings and features of the car. The instrument cluster is particularly noteworthy, with a stunning display of speedometer, tachometer, and other vital statistics that keep you informed and connected while on the road.

As I drove the 650S, I was also impressed by its exceptional sound quality. The car's exhaust note is simply sublime, with a deep, throaty rumble that adds to the overall sense of excitement and energy. Whether I was cruising down the highway or taking on twisty roads, the sound of the engine was always engaging and enjoyable.

The Verdict: A Superb Driving Experience

Overall, my experience with the McLaren 650S has been nothing short of exceptional. The car's performance capabilities, combined with its improved handling and braking, make it an absolute blast to drive. Whether I'm cruising around town or pushing the car to its limits on twisty roads, the 650S always feels confident and responsive.

While some may argue that the 650S is not a significant improvement over the 12C, I firmly believe that it's worth every penny of the added cost. The upgrades and improvements made to the 650S are simply unmatched by any other supercar on the market, and its exceptional performance capabilities make it an absolute must-have for anyone serious about driving.

In Conclusion

As I reflect on my experience with the McLaren 650S, I'm struck by its exceptional performance capabilities, combined with its improved handling and braking. Whether I'm cruising around town or pushing the car to its limits on twisty roads, the 650S always feels confident and responsive. Its refined steering, slipper suspension, and exceptional sound quality make it an absolute joy to drive.

If you're in the market for a new supercar, I highly recommend giving the 650S a test drive. I firmly believe that you won't be disappointed – the results are simply phenomenal.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys well I finally reached the 500 mile mark on the new 650s spider Shmi 'mobile so I thought it was time to talk a little bit more about the changes I've noticed and the reasons of course for going into this car I talked a little bit about it before I actually picked up the car I've had a bit longer now of course to gather thoughts and think about it and take the car out for a drive so obviously you know what we have is the Manta screen 650s spider it's a lovely sunny winter's afternoon right now so I've been out for a drive and get some thoughts together the main reason of course to upgrade was the new look the 650s brings in that design styling from the p1 the McLaren shaped headlights the carbon fiber front splitter the whole new upgraded look design and feel to the car so obviously that meant for me moving into a car that was two-and-a-half years newer than my 12c so significantly newer car everything factory-fresh almost you know there comes a time with these cars that would especially with the mileage I do it's nice to be back on the one that's almost new and gonna last longer and hold together a bit better I mean they are holding brilliantly the 12c was flawless I didn't have any problems with that car which was unbelievable but 650s also another opportunity to take off the roof and go into a spider I've shown the roof already the roof system tucks away under that tunnel lid in the back but that was a pretty big incentive for the change but you know the thing I didn't realize and what I've come to realize from driving it more is how much more there is to this then it just being a facelift I mean the facelift element is amazing you get all of the new parts the new carbon fibre around the rear the enlarged scoops on the side vents but it's what the car does to drive and all the cosmetic parts I mean just quickly it's things like I mean door buttons instead of swipe I loved the way the 12c was a swipe but I can appreciate why it's now a button but the hinge and mechanisms on the doors a little bit more refined if we come around the front the bonnet catch and you've got this new McClaren badge on the front but all the little things this just shuts down in a way that the old car didn't quite manage I know it sounds silly pointing out little things like that but the whole car is though one thing that makes 650s a dramatic improvement over 12c it's the way everything comes together but for now let me jump in and talk about the driving stuff because that's where it took me by surprise inside the 650s is basically the same as my 12c was I've gone for the same carbon fibre the same mix of leather and Alcantara and all the surfaces the dashboard and seats options iris to navigation we've got the Meridian hi-fi heated electric seats basically I decided that's what I like I wanted it exactly the same on the 650s obviously with the spider one thing we can do turn the ignition on and immediately open the rear windows so that means you can hear more of the car of course it started up with the noise I didn't realize quite how much the sound had actually changed it's been refined there's more I think they say emotion to it and you can really feel that on the upshifts you have more of a pop on overruns you have more bubbles going on there's so much more dynamic sounds sort of coming out of that exhaust behind you and with the window open or with the roof down you can hear so much more of it but let's obviously put it in drive automatically drive and the handbrake release this obviously in full-automatic everything at the moment it starts up exactly the same it's a time see settings obviously the active dynamics panel and everything like that function in the same wage brings sunshine mores very low Sun in the winter though but one thing you immediately notice is that the ride is firmer and it took my mind a little bit of a while to get my head round this exactly what they've done is the suspension is hard and stiffer at the rear so the ride is obviously firmer the steering ratio is tightened but on the flip side more aggressive bumps especially people's in central London are actually softer or UK less the noise really so the 12c was already brilliance in this respect especially with the incredibly clever suspension technologies and features for 650 estes thinks in all and it makes it presumably one of the best riding and the feeling cause it goes down an amputee she British Bank Road like I say it gets written on the waist see if you press the exit button acacia buddies sound settings obviously 7-speed dual-clutch it's very great way something down brilliance and the optional thing away there in a way though that's about C just didn't do it's also when you do that then the extra performance comes 25 horsepower 625 in the time c2 the 650 and the 650s doesn't see the face spit like that when you consider that it also has 78 that's always 15% it really it really kicks you in the back you can buy the extra noise it makes for the extra torque and the weight just makes you go whoa what's that's kind so if you give it full power reaches firstly more I look forward to fear some way be able to compare the sound of six are the speed 12c in 650s but straight off the bat this sulbin in the let's all serious quick enough 650 asses another another league and I think also hundred miles an hour something silly if you have the right size but it's just insane and then you have the sunny more refined steering comes as a result of the slipper suspension of the rhythm which makes it press all especially down British countryside roads in a way that these adjustments it's such a direct your brakes tear pulling around the corners of the tank features of the taxi of course but everything is just pulled together to make something but it's slightly more in every respect like I said at the beginning when I bought the 12c I was thinking sorry when I roll the 650s I was thinking here's the more updated parts of mirror it's the redesigned looks it's the spider of course those three factors were enough for me to pull the trigger and make the leap obviously quite a quite a step up financially from x 86 50s but it was driving at home and I had a 200 mile drive back down from McLaren Manchester who hooked me fantastically in this process so I really started realizing coming down 200 miles up in the morning and 200 miles back from the afternoon how much improved they had made without necessarily talking about it so much it's sort of hard to multiply but number of different parts that are all snapped up but it's taken what I described is the almost perfect package in the 12c and made it more per 650s is quite frankly in my opinion the best car out there that's why I've chosen to put my money here I'm absolutely my bloke I try they managed to do this how they managed to take all that was unbelievable quite frankly I think if you forget money and it's well same right now is a fantastic the prices that go 650s the weather's changing I'll be pretty quickly but it's getting towards the end of the day but decided to keep a roof up for this video just because of the way boys like you gets off the back of it although it's not bad at all as these cars go but nothing's actually really decent in here I do have that rear window open because even if it was really listening to her listen I could always to have this guard down on the French Riviera driving through the house and opening up on some pretty spectacular roads really getting to enjoy them probably you know cuz I said it already the whole cop whole package is your speed slightly improved and I think it's a bit of a no-brainer if you're looking for this kind of cars to take out and drive and actually use take it around attracts fastest you want comfortably cruising long distance drive around town in Florida Matic mode whatever really this - takes every sink I would say the reason I bought one is because I genuinely believe that I'm just really surprised by how much better 650s is and how many smaller fine so yeah it's pretty impressive pretty good and I'm very very happy woman there we go then some thoughts after 500 miles driving the 650s I'm sorry for raving about it so much but truly this car deserves it it's phenomenal I think if I have one thing my way of a conclusion if you're a 12c owner and you have the means you need to go out and test drive a 650s you will be blown away that there is that much room for improvement over the top of an already fantastic car on the flip side if you haven't yet bought the 12c but you're in the market for a car that sort of value have a go these cars are phenomenal for their price point and I'm really really really happy with that change it's quite a financial step up worth every penny the 650s especially in a color like this this is how a supercar is meant to be stand out bright and loud and I'm so so happy if you want to ask any questions or sort of get involved in any of the discussion about the car what's going on this year we've set up in McLaren talk WWE McLaren talk calm open for all sorts of chat about the car about what it's like owning it other photos and the like will be there as well so you can get on board and join us plenty of owners already have talking MacLaren's but thank you very much for watching my thoughts there'll be loads more updates as we go through the year just can't wait now to get it down into some open roads around the French Riviera and the like I've been truly putting my foot down but thank you very much for watching I hope you enjoyed that little sort of comparison of 12c to 650s I'll catch up with you again very soon Cheers already in sorts out here and then we're going to go inside for bad mantis grunts splitter finished in the carbon fiber that pack also gets ushi guys well I finally reached the 500 mile mark on the new 650s
