**Good Docking Station for Me**
I'm looking for a docking station that has built-in SD and micro SD card slots because I frequently use my Canon camera. I have one set up here and another in front of me, so let's go ahead and give this hub a try.
I've got my 64-gig SD card here, and I'll plug it directly into the Hub itself. Alright, that shows up as an external SSD. Now, I'm going to go into the Canon folder here, and I have a six-gig file. Let's go ahead and copy this, and we'll paste it right onto my iPad VLC.
Okay, so now that that's copied over, took about two minutes and 10 seconds based on the speed of the SD card I have here. Now, let's see how that worked. I'll jump over to my iPad using my mouse, open up VLC, and you can see all the files that I have here. Here's the file that I copied earlier, so let's click on that, and there it is! It's been copied over to my iPad.
Now, if I want to do any editing or file manipulation, I have a very easy way to take directly from my camera SD card into this Hub itself, directly onto my iPad. That's lickety-split! Not only can it do all that, you can also hook up an external display if you want to watch 4K through the HDMI. You can do that!
**HDMI and External Monitor**
I've got my external monitor here, and I've got my iPad still plugged in. First thing we'll do is hook up the HDMI, and my external monitor requires power, so that's where this comes in. So, I'll go ahead and hook this up right to the Hub itself.
As you can see, this is basically just cloning my iPad here – an older iPad, so it doesn't support extending the monitor to a second monitor but does support cloning if that's something that I want to do. But what I can do now is show you the true power of having something like a hub!
**True Power of Having a Hub**
I've got everything hooked up here right, and I can basically go ahead and just remove this (the iPad), take my iPad out of the picture, bring my laptop into the scene here. Plug in the Hub itself – same thing still hooked up to it like before.
Now, as you can see, my audio is recording on the screen what we'll do is we'll minimize this, show you I can go ahead and display settings now. And like I said before with the iPad, it was just cloning the screen. I will go ahead and extend the displays!
**Extending Displays**
Okay, so in this particular situation, you can see that my main display is on the left, and the external display is on the right. So, in Windows, I can just go ahead and drag this over here, drag it over to the other window.
What I could do is basically go ahead and watch what I'm doing here on the extended screen make sure my audio is still recording if I wanted to pull up another browser – the Gigamindo site, and basically look at some of the features of the Hub itself. I could do that!
**Setting Up Two Different Scenarios**
So, basically with this device, I've been able to set up two different scenarios: I have my iPad plugged in if I had a M1 or an M2 iPad, I can actually go ahead and extend the screen up here and use multiple monitors. But the one I have is only an older iPad, so I was able to clone it – or basically duplicate the display.
Unplugged the Hub, walked away, got my laptop plugged in – the laptop extended the displaced good to go! You can also hook up a direct ethernet cable to your Ethernet Network and start copying files that way. I could have a keyboard hooked up; I could have an external monitor hooked up – I could get everything hooked up!
**Conclusion**
I'm calling this one a winner – I'm loving this little device! This is a great docking station by Gigamundo, again thanks to them for sending this over! If you're interested, I'll go ahead and leave the link down below – check that out! Go ahead and check them out too!
But again until next time, this is Carl from Technical Goodies, and I'm out.
