The BlackBerry Key 2: A Comprehensive Overview
Our first look at the BlackBerry Key 2 reveals an impressive array of features that cater to the needs of both casual users and power enthusiasts alike. At the top, we have our 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, a familiar feature that many are happy to see on a new BlackBerry device. However, this is where things get interesting - the phone comes with a new set of blackberry earbuds that now boast a plus and minus button for volume control and track navigation, as well as larger drivers for enhanced sound quality. This attention to detail is just the beginning, as our device also features two speakers grills, although only one speaker delivers true audio experience due to symmetry considerations.
The rear of the BlackBerry Key 2 hosts several notable features that make it stand out from other smartphones on the market. Notably, we have a dual camera setup consisting of two 12-megapixel cameras - one standard and a telephoto lens with 1/2 times optical zoom. The ability to swap between these lenses is provided by tapping the 2x button in the viewfinder, allowing users to adjust their photography experience according to their needs. Moreover, the rear of the device also bears an unmistakable blackberry logo in metal, which serves as a symbol of authenticity and quality.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor powers our BlackBerry Key 2, coupled with six gigs of RAM for seamless multitasking. The device comes equipped with a choice between 64 or 128 gigs of storage, allowing users to select the optimal capacity according to their needs. The software running on this smartphone is Android 8.1, with additional Blackberry features such as encryption and BlackBerry Hub - a unified inbox that consolidates email and messaging apps into one easily accessible interface.
One of the standout features of the BlackBerry Key 2 is its focus on security and user experience. The device comes equipped with several tools designed to ensure user safety, including Blackberry D Tech - an advanced app suite for monitoring permissions granted by individual apps and alerting users to any potential threats. Furthermore, the smartphone offers BlackBerry Password Keeper, a password management system that enables seamless autofill of credentials across various platforms.
To further enhance user control over their device's power consumption, we have the Power Center app. This tool grants granular control over app resource allocation, allowing users to boost performance or conserve battery life as desired. Additional features include Blackberry Productivity Tab - a convenient tab that provides quick access to calendar events, messages, and favorite contacts.
Finally, the smartphone boasts an impressive suite of security and privacy tools, including BlackBerry Privacy Shade and Lockar - a fingerprint-protected section for sensitive files such as images or browsing history from Firefox Focus. With these features, users can enjoy unparalleled peace of mind when using their device.
Camera Capabilities and Additional Features
Moving on to camera capabilities, the BlackBerry Key 2 boasts two high-quality cameras with 12 megapixel resolution each. The standard camera mode allows for a range of image settings such as aspect ratio selection (4x3, 16x9, 1x1 or 3x2) as well as access to live filters for added creativity.
Thanks to the dual-camera setup, portrait mode becomes an option on this smartphone. Furthermore, we can use our camera app to capture business cards or documents and have them edited like they were scanned, thanks to scanner functionality. Video recording is also supported with capabilities in 4K at 30 frames per second or up to 1080p at 60 frames per second.
The phone's camera features are rounded off by slow-motion video recording options.
