**Audi S3 Sportback Review: A Practical and Powerful Daily Driver**
The Audi S3 Sportback is a superb recipe that combines the best of both worlds - practicality and performance. With its spacious interior, quattro all-wheel drive system, and dual-clutch gearbox, this car is perfect for families or individuals who want a fast and reliable daily driver.
**Upgrades and Modifications**
Our test car had undergone various upgrades and modifications to enhance its performance. The Miltek downpipe with a 200C cat, high-pressure fuel rail valve from an R8, and high-pressure fuel pump were just a few of the enhancements that made this car sit on the wrong side of the tracks. With software tweaks, the engine now produces a whopping 376 horsepower, compared to the stock 265 horsepower.
One of the notable upgrades was the floor mats, which, although not entirely OEM, still looked great. The interior itself, however, was where the real magic happened. The Elanur leather seats were a treat to sit in, and the chrome accents added a touch of elegance to the already well-appointed cabin. The MMI system was intuitive and responsive, with beautiful analog dials that evoked a sense of classic Audi heritage.
**Driving Experience**
When it came to driving the S3 Sportback, we found that its practicality made it a joy to drive on a daily basis. The car had a very nice flat-bottom steering wheel, which provided ample legroom and a comfortable driving position. We did have to adjust our expectations slightly, however, as this was not a hot hatch in the classical sense. It didn't feel particularly engaging to drive, with limited feedback from the steering.
That said, when we put it into manual mode and pushed it to its limits, the car came alive. The dual-clutch gearbox performed admirably, shifting gears crisply and smoothly, even in Sport mode. We were able to shave off a whopping 1.4 seconds from our initial time of 20.0s to 5.6 seconds, thanks to some clever tuning by David.
One minor quibble was the lack of traction control in manual mode. However, with the clutch held down firmly and the gearbox shifted into S mode, we found that it didn't hinder our progress too much. The car felt very stable and secure, even on twisty roads or during spirited driving.
**Tuning and Performance**
David had also fitted a coilover kit to improve the suspension's handling. While we couldn't verify the brand, the results were certainly noticeable - this was one of the most stable cars we'd driven in a long time. The steering felt very responsive, with barely any body roll or dip, even during aggressive cornering.
When it came to acceleration, the S3 Sportback more than held its own. From 0-100km/h, it took just 4.2 seconds, which is impressive for a car of this size and class. The exhaust note was also perfectly suited to the car's character - subtle, yet musical.
**Conclusion**
All in all, we were thoroughly impressed with the Audi S3 Sportback. It may not be a hot hatch, but it's certainly no slouch when it comes to performance. With its practicality, space, and comfortable driving experience, this car is perfect for those who want a fast and reliable daily driver.
We also appreciated the thoughtful touches that David had added to his car - from the floor mats to the upgraded exhaust system, every detail seemed to have been carefully considered to enhance the overall driving experience. And while it may not be the most engaging car to drive, we found that its quirks only added to its charm.
So if you're in the market for a fast and practical daily driver, the Audi S3 Sportback is certainly worth considering - especially with all the upgrades and modifications that David had installed. It's a little bit of heaven on wheels, wrapped up in an Audi badge.
