Asphalt 8: Airborne - A Racing Game Like No Other
Hey everybody, this is Simon Sage from iMore today we are playing Asphalt 8 uh Airborne this is by Gameloft it's coming out August 22nd I believe uh for a buck uh lots of in-app purchases here though so plenty of options uh as far as I'm concerned this is probably my new favorite racing game on iOS Real Racing 3 as fantastic as it is uh lacks the kind of light-hearted and arcade feel that Asphalt seems to nail down every time uh and it's I would say on par in the graphics departments absolutely fantastic uh even playing here on the on the iPad too so uh what have we got here we've got uh online multiplayer we've got uh ghosts so that uh you can race against ghosts of your friend's best lap times uh you've got lots of cars here can actually dive into the garage real quick and see we've got uh various classes of cars some very nice looking Vehicles here and lots lots of upgrade ability and uh options here they are looking really really nice I think even up at the top tier we've got some uh some stuff that exists solely in the realm of concept cars
Here's a closer look at the garage, where you can browse through various classes of cars. The game has a wide range of vehicles to choose from, including some very impressive and unique designs. As you explore the garage, you'll notice that each car has its own set of upgrade options, allowing you to customize your ride to suit your driving style. Whether you're looking for speed, handling, or nitro boost, there's something for everyone in Asphalt 8: Airborne.
You earn credits as you play to buy those cars and upgrades but you can also pay up and accelerate your progress a little bit. Upgrading your vehicle is a key part of the game, allowing you to improve your performance and take on more challenging courses. The upgrade options are extensive, with choices ranging from acceleration to top speed to handling and Nitro. I haven't invested too much in the starter car here cuz I figure I'm going to be upgrading pretty quick and I think I've got my first c-class car uh so yeah there it is also change out the paint I'm kind of classic black myself so
Let's dive into the race here uh I've gotten through the first season here uh you progress through the seasons by earning stars on these courses so some of them I've only earned you can see three out of five or one out of five for Tokyo uh and you can uh Advance more quickly if you like or you can just play the game as it's meant to be and you can get through all eight seasons so lots of racing to be done here tons of fun. The first season was a great introduction to the game, with plenty of challenges and opportunities to earn stars and progress through the course.
One of the standout features of Asphalt 8: Airborne is the Airborne element, which adds a new level of excitement and challenge to the gameplay. Throughout each course, you'll find ramps and other obstacles that allow you to perform aerial stunts and boost your speed. Landing successfully without crashing can earn you extra boost, while slanted ramps let you perform cork screw jumps through the air. The Airborne element is a thrilling addition to the game, requiring skill and precision to master.
The game also features a unique Nitro system, which is handled a bit differently than in other racing games. As you approach certain sections of the course, you'll find Nitro powerups that can give you an extra boost. Your Nitro bar will be displayed at the top of the screen, and you can use it to gain speed or navigate tight corners. The game's graphics are simply stunning, with great lighting effects and interactive terrain that adds to the overall sense of immersion.
As I continued to play Asphalt 8: Airborne, I found myself enjoying the game more and more. The gameplay is fast-paced and exciting, with plenty of challenges and opportunities to improve your skills. The game's graphics are simply fantastic, with great lighting effects and interactive terrain that adds to the overall sense of immersion. Overall, Asphalt 8: Airborne is a must-play for fans of racing games.
I'm only maybe six races in so far but let's see if I can there we go there's that lateral Spin and nailed it so bit bit of Tony Hawk kind of mixed in with your with your racing game uh I definitely find it's h it's interesting it's a nice uh nice Twist on uh the standard racing game and obviously completely ridiculous and over the top o and he got those nice um uh burnout style takedowns some nice slow-mo action there so great great game uh if you're a fan of racing games at all be sure to check this out this is Simon Sage from iMore
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everybody this is Simon Sage from imore today we are playing Asphalt 8 uh Airborne this is by Gameloft it's coming out August 22nd I believe uh for a buck uh lots of inapp purchases here though so plenty of options uh as far as I'm concerned this is probably my new favorite racing game on iOS Real Racing 3 as fantastic as it is uh lacks the kind of light-hearted and arcade feel that asphalt seems to nail down every time uh and it's I would say on par in the graphics departments absolutely fantastic uh even playing here on the on the iPad too so uh what have we got here we've got uh online multiplayer we've got uh ghosts so that uh you you can race against ghosts of of your friend's best lap times uh you've got lots of cars here can actually dive into the garage real quick and see we've got uh various classes of cars some very nice looking Vehicles here and lots lots of upgrade ability and uh options here they are looking really really nice I think even up at the top tier we've got some uh some stuff that exists solely in the realm of concept cars uh here we go that one so definitely some cool stuff there um you earn credits as you play to in order to buy those but you can also um pay up and uh accelerate your progress a little bit uh you can upgrade your vehicle in a number of different ways you've got acceleration top speed handling and Nitro um I haven't invested too much in the starter car here cuz I figure I'm going to be upgrading pretty quick and I think I've got my first uh cclass car uh so yeah there it is also change out the paint I'm kind of classic black myself so uh let's dive into the race here uh I've gotten through the first season here uh you progress through the seasons by earning stars on these courses so some of them I've only earned you can see three out of five or one out of five for Tokyo uh and you can uh Advance more quickly if you like or you can just play the game as it's meant to be and you can get through all eight seasons so lots of racing to be done here tons of fun uh let's hop into uh Tokyo where I've been doing absolutely horribly uh so there we go and we're ready to rock so um one of the uh the things here in Asphalt is obviously uh the Airborne element you've got lots of ramps peppering most levels uh and uh if you if you land without uh you know crashing into something then you get extra boost uh there are some uh some slanted uh ramps as well that let you cork screw through the air it's a really pretty pretty awesome especially if uh if you can manage to pull off one of those after taking out a few opponents uh so as for Nitro it's handled a little bit differently you can see there's a few Nitro powerups throughout the level um my Nitro bar is up there along the top uh right right now I'm using tilt controls uh so on the left side is my brake which I'll tap just as I turn in order to whoa there we go getting some good air time almost there on the right it'll tell me my air time uh what my city Havoc rating is like those are all medals that you earn and eventually add up for uh bonus uh credits at the end of your race um oh dang I thought I would have made that so that right there is one of the cork screw jumps I was telling you about uh so now my meter at the top is full again uh if I tap it the first time you're going to notice that there's a little red marker area and I'm going to try and boost over this this this pretty big jump here and if I tap it again I'll get a perfect boost a little bit of air so um that is a nice little miname mechanic it isn't just you know holding down the uh the Nitro um the uh the other thing is as you as you come up to certain jumps if you drift just before you do it you'll do kind of a uh kind of a lateral spin while you're going through the air I can now you you notice that that that one car in the in the incoming traffic he's blinking his headlights and I I think that's just such a nice little touch it's you know these cars totally freaking out about uh who who Who's who's doing this drag racing on the in incoming traffic hey buddy let's see if we can take this guy out here this section is actually kind of fun because uh you can actually uh wrap all the way around the uh the tunnel here that's pretty cool but uh you do have to be careful there otherwise you will fall off the side like it's appearing I'm going to right there so some pretty spectacular crashes uh you can tell that that the the graphics here are just absolutely fantastic um lots of great lighting effects see up here we've got a robot too so very um very interactive terrain uh very uh great lighting effects too you you you'll notice that there's kind of a light Trail on on my uh rear head lights there who do you think you are come on buddy um I've been having a lot of fun with this uh I'm only maybe uh six races in so far but let's see if I can there we go there's that lateral Spin and nailed it so bit bit of Tony Hawk kind of mixed in with your with your racing game uh I I definitely find it's h it's interesting it's a nice uh nice Twist on uh the standard racing game and obviously completely ridiculous and over the top o and he got those nice um uh burnout style takedowns some nice slow-mo action there so great great game uh if you're a fan of racing games at all be sure to check this out
