Never Do This at a Gas Station

**The Challenges of Diesel Engines**

When it comes to diesel engines, there's just too much pressure inside them, making repairs and maintenance a daunting task. If you're not experienced in working on diesel engines, taking the head off and installing a new head gasket can be a costly endeavor. Even though the engine is small, like in the case of a bobcat or an 18-wheeler, it's still important to have a mechanic with experience in diesel engines who can help you diagnose and fix the problem.

**Rebuilding Carburetors**

If your Volkswagen Thing has a rough idle and backfiring, one of the first things you should try is rebuilding the carburetor. These were simple one-barrel carburetors that are still widely used today. You can find a brand new carburetor at an import auto store for around $100. It's a relatively inexpensive fix that may solve your problem. However, if the issue persists, it could be related to engine problems or worn-out spark plugs.

**Testing Spark Coils**

If you're experiencing issues with your 2017 Jetta's ignition system, especially in the 3.4L V6 engine, one of the most common causes is faulty spark coils. The Volkswagen company makes notoriously poor-quality ignition coils that can fail at any time. In this case, it's recommended to replace all four spark coils, rather than just testing individual ones. Look for aftermarket spark coils that are designed to be high-quality and durable, as they will last longer and perform better than the original equipment ones. According to Kelly Guy, replacing all four spark coils is crucial to solving the problem.

**The Reliability of Modern Engines**

When it comes to modern engines like the 2023 Ford Transit 350 motor home with a 3.5L twin turbo ecoboost engine, reliability can be a concern. The V6 engine with two turbos and GDI fuel injection system is designed to produce a lot of horsepower, but this comes at a cost in terms of durability. According to some Ford engineers, the twin turbos are expected to last around 100,000 miles, although some may reach 150,000 miles with proper maintenance.

**The Challenges of Large Motorhomes**

Motorhomes like the Ford Transit 350 are designed for heavy use and can be demanding on engines. The combination of weight, towing capacity, and long distances traveled can take a toll on even the most robust engine. In this case, it's unlikely that the engine will last 150,000 miles without major repairs or replacement.

**Conclusion**

While modern engines like the Ford Transit 350 are designed to be reliable, they still require regular maintenance and care to extend their lifespan. By understanding the potential challenges and limitations of these engines, you can take steps to prevent problems and ensure a smooth ride for years to come. Whether you're driving a Volkswagen Thing or a motorhome like the Ford Transit 350, it's essential to stay on top of maintenance and repairs to avoid costly surprises down the road.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enrev up your engines well there's a thing called pump switch going on at gas stations don't fall for it what happens is people that pretend that they're friendly oh ma'am I'll pump your gas for you blah blah blah and they're really aggressive they won't take no for an answer right stay away from these people because if you put your credit card in right and they're pumping your gas what they do is they pump your gas then he thanks ma'am and they hold on to the Gas Pump and they do not turn it off they stand there kind of sneakily maybe hide it behind their back and when you drive away they start pumping gas to other people and they tell the people look I put in $30 of gas you only got to pay me 10 or 20 right been happening a lot in Pennsylvania it turns out it's called pump switching they just stand there when you're gone they don't turn it off and then they just keep pumping it'll keep pumping until you turn it off right be wary of someone helping you out pumping your gas it's just another scam just like the people that'll say lady you got a flat tire after they punch the hole in the tire or let the air out right don't let people get near your car say please go away and if they're too aggressive get on the phone dial 911 and say I'm being harassed by a guy at a gas pump and they will run away then because everybody knows they're doing some scam at the gas station and if that does happen go to the gas pump got to take some money the gas pump inside or whatever one you're on and say you got this guy scamming people get them away from your station because they're cheating people don't think these people are helping you out they're out there to scam you well Volkswagen is stopping their EV production at plant in Germany that produces their ID do3 Cars one what a stupid name ID do3 couldn't they think of a name I mean it's just getting to be ridiculous how they're naming cars but aside from that people aren't buying them the Germans now the subsidies is going away in Germany people aren't buying a car and even in a smaller country like Germany people still drive reasonable distances and they're obviously finding out electric cars aren't what they want so they can stop building them and close the plant down in Dresden and here's what they say by ending ID do3 production at the plant Volkswagen could save around2 million EUR that's $21.3 million you could save a whole bunch of money don't build anything you won't make any profit cuz you're not selling anything to anybody no if we stop making these electric cars there look at the we're going to save right that just shows you they don't even fly in Europe how are they going to fly in the United States right Ford's losing billions on their electric cars of course Fords whing away to the government please give us more subsidies give us more subsidies well look what's happening in Germany now the subsidies are going away for these Volkswagens people aren't buying them and they're shutting the plant down let the Germans be a guinea pig that maybe these electric cars aren't going to pan out if they can't pan out in Europe what hope do they have a panning out over here here a bigger country where people don't like planning ahead they want to get in their car and drive they don't have to worry about oh did I charge it up enough oh did I warm the battery up in the winter because it's cold and I got to put it in a heated garage how many people have heated garages not that many people right the Germans maybe there're a canary in a coal mine and they're starting to drop maybe we should stop pushing these electric vehicles that aren't passing even in an eco-friendly country like Germany but they're shutting down a production of that plant and folks well shutting it down to save money yeah yeah you got a comany that builds cars you stop building cars you save money not building the cars but you're not making any money selling something that doesn't exist well here's an interesting one stas you know they're having the Big labor negotiations with the other big three with the Union of aut workers and here's one of the things they decided that they wanted in their negotiations Theus Envy is seeking the unilateral right to sell its Auburn Hills headquarters and Technical Center one of 18 facilities it could sell as part of the latest offer from the u a so in other words they want to get rid of their factories and their Office Buildings here in the United States right now realize hm it's stellantis let's see who's the major player in that well Fiat and pujo and then what's left of Chrysler tiny little bit right they don't give a crap about American workers they've already moved tons of their production South of the Border to Mexico right I mean take a look where your Dodge trucks are made they're made in Mexico GM trucks they're made in Mexico most of their parts are made in Mexico so you know they're just trying to get out of the United States and that's their deal with the union workers well we'll pay you more but we're going to shut all these places down too and soon you won't have a job at all that reminds me ages ago company that makes those spiral batteries right someplace up North and then they opened a factory in Mexico and then they said oh don't worry that's just to sell batteries around the rest of the world CU we can't make enough in the United States and guess what now they're all made in Mexico they shut the American Factory down and that's what these guys are planning for any fool can see that you have to be a blind man not to understand what these guys are trying to pull especially stanus they're just trying to get out of the United States Michael FIS 1991 says I want a head gaset sealer for heavy machinery diesel engine okay I have a bobc cat with a blown head gasket which head gasket sealer should I buy for this engine don't waste your money on sealer it's a diesel engine the compression in a diesel engine is so much more than a gasoline engine I have never ever seen any sealer stop a leak on that immense pressure diesel engines don't have an ignition system they don't have a spark that fires to blow the gasoline they go by diesel compression there's so much compression in the engine that when it squashes it it ignites from the pressure and then bof puts out the power right there's so much more pressure no head gaset seal is going to fix it baby don't even waste your time you'd be just pissing in the wind attempting to seal a diesel engine with any kind of little bitty sealer it won't work I can guarantee you I have never ever seen a sealer seal a diesel engine there's just too much pressure inside them you're going to have to take the head off and put a head gasket in it and it's expensive Endeavor but at least it's a bobcat it's a little bitty diesel engine it's not like some big you know 18-wheeler diesel It's a small diesel if you're willing to get down and dirty it could be taken apart and put back together again just realize if you have a guy who's a mechanic who works on diesel engines all the time and does it he's going to charge you Fortune diesel mechanics are super expensive that's just the nature of the game 70 boy7 says my a cool Volkswagen is backfiring has a rough Idol I got a 72 Volkswagen Thing I need help figuring out where to start backfiring and rough I've only worked on Jeeps help first thing it's an old vehicle right and it has a carburetor on it rebuild the carburetor those were simple one barrel carburetors you can generally find import auto stores that for 100 bucks you get a brand new carburetor cuz they still use them in Brazil and they still build the carburetors in Brazil and you get a brand new one for 100 something bucks just buy another carburetor and put it on that may fix your entire problem now if it doesn't you could have an engine problem and you'd want to take the spark plks out do a compression test and if you found out it had bad valves the compression is going to be low on whatever cylinder had the bad valves you can always test that it's easy to test but from my experience hey it's an old Volkswagen old as the hills 52 year old car come on now you know put a carburetor on it first that makes the most sense Kelly guy says do I have spark coils I have a 2017 Jetta 67,000 Mi I have gotten 1 three4 cylinder coil this farus Jack angelite comes on before I spend the money to replace them as possible to test them Volkswagen makes the crappiest ignition coils in the world they go bad all the time I can guarantee you you want to replace all four and don't use the Volkswagen coils they're garbage go aftermarket there are other companies that make them that make them a higher quality than what Volkswagen is made normally I say the other way buy the original equipment ones but in the case of these Volkswagens no they're crap get an aftermarket one go to the store and say what are the best aftermarket ones you have don't say the cheapest say the best aftermarket ones and replace all four it's a notorious problem on the Volkswagens because they just make their ignition coils like crap they break all the time get them aftermarket and do replace all four don't even think about not you want them all to match and like I said go afterm market those things what they only lasted 67 ,000 miles I got Toyotas that are 20 years old they're still the original coils they still work perfectly fine so don't buy the Volkswagen course buy aftermarket cuz some of the aftermarket ones are actually better made than the crap that Volkswagen's putting on them whatam Mall it says what are your thoughts on a 2023 Ford Transit 350 motor home with the Ford 3.5 L twin turbo ecoboost engine 10-speed Auto it'll be used for traveling do you think it can last 150,000 miles well it could but it's probably going to get a lot of repairs that is a V6 engine with two turbos and GDI fuel injection system there's so much pressure in that engine they generally wear out before that especially the turbos if you even talk to the Ford Engineers they pretty much say well the turbo should last 100,000 miles okay there's two of them 100,000 he wants 150,000 100,000 if he had to replace those two turbos that's a lot of money it's a big heavy motor home it's not made for a six-cylinder engine yeah the twin turbos once they spin up with g have a lot of horsepower once they get rolling so it'll be a dog when you start to take off it's not going to last 150,000 mies I have seen them go in just a plain Ford Explorer that somebody doesn't tow doesn't carry heavy weights and they maintain them and they don't drive over 70 M hour I've seen them with 150 and they're still going okay right just be thankful that it was your friend that bought the motor home and not you cuz I doubt if it's going to make it to 150,000 Mi so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos remember to ring that Bell\n"
