**The Power of Kristen Hanna's Unappreciated Works**
Kristen Hanna is an author who has been overlooked by many readers and critics alike, despite producing a wealth of remarkable literature. As I pondered which underrated books to highlight, I couldn't help but think of "The Nightingale", her magnum opus that catapulted her to fame. Written in 2015, this heart-wrenching novel tells the story of two sisters living in France during World War II, and it's no surprise that it has captured the hearts of readers worldwide. However, I firmly believe that Hanna's other works deserve more attention, starting with "The Great Alone".
Set in Alaska, this 2018 novel follows a family of three – a mother, father, and daughter – who relocate to a remote area in search of a better life. The harsh climate and isolation take a toll on the family, but it's also an opportunity for them to confront their inner demons and find a sense of belonging. I was thoroughly enthralled by this book, which masterfully explores themes of survival, depression, and the human condition. Hanna's writing is evocative, intense, and beautifully sad, making "The Great Alone" a must-read for anyone who loves literary fiction.
While many readers associate Kristen Hanna with "The Nightingale", it's worth noting that she has written over 20 other books, each one a testament to her skill as a storyteller. One of these novels that caught my attention is "The Immortal Spaces". Written in 2022, this thought-provoking book tells the story of three siblings who stumble upon a mysterious woman who can predict their deaths dates. The family becomes obsessed with understanding the woman's predictions and whether fate or free will plays a role in their lives. I found this novel to be a perfect book club read, as it raises so many questions about the nature of life, death, and destiny.
As I reflected on my own reading experiences, I realized that Hanna's works often inspire discussions and debates among readers. Her novels have a way of sparking conversations and encouraging us to think critically about the world we live in. With "The Immortal Spaces", for instance, we're left wondering whether the characters accepted their fate blindly or took matters into their own hands. The book also raises questions about the role of women in society and how they can be influenced by societal expectations.
While I loved "The Great Alone" and thought it was a standout example of Hanna's skill as an author, I must admit that I'm not as familiar with her other works. However, after reading about some of them online, I realized that there are many more books to explore. If you're looking for underrated authors who have produced remarkable literature, Kristen Hanna is definitely worth checking out.
**Recommendation**
If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and pick up "The Great Alone" or "The Immortal Spaces". Both novels are thought-provoking, beautifully written, and will leave you questioning the world around us. Trust me when I say that Hanna's works are not to be missed. With her vast array of books to choose from, there's something for everyone. So go ahead, take a chance on an author who has been overlooked by many, and discover the magic of Kristen Hanna's writing.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enlet's talk about some underrated books here on booktube hello everyone today I am here to share with you some of my favorite underrated books so I've done this video before and I will always do it because I love talking about underrated books and basically what are underrated books this is my opinion just so you know underrated books to me are books that I love that don't get nearly enough requisition on booktube at least in my opinion um a lot of these books I'm going to talk about today I hear a casual booktube I maybe will see people haul them or put them in their TBR but I don't hear a lot of people talking about how they've read them and how they love them so they just don't get a lot of love here on booktube and my whole goal for this video is for although you want to read them and hopefully fall in love with it as much as I did so I'm not I think I'm going to talk about 10 to 12 books today I'm gonna try to do five why a books and five adult books because that's how I like to do things here because I read a lot of adult books but I also read a lot of Wyatt books honestly some of these books you might not agree with Huey you might think that they're not underrated but to me they are so just know that that that's what this is just strictly in my opinion so yeah let's get into it my start the way books first because why not book I'm gonna talk a lot should come as no surprise and that is you'll miss me when I'm gone by Rachel than Solomon this is one of your books and I've said it's underrated several times before and I would continue to say that I read this book last year and I fell in love with it I read it randomly a lot of these books that I'm going to talk about probably all of them are books that I picked up randomly because I was just curious about them because I hadn't heard much about them but I was intrigued by them and they ended up becoming books that I love this is a book about two twin sisters that are Jewish and learned that their mom has Huntington's disease so they assign it when they're 18 you take a blood test to figure out if they have that same disease or gene running through them and it's not supposed to tell you that one of them has it and one of them doesn't that doesn't tell you it does however does it but basically it follows their life after that and just figuring out all this stuff and these sisters are not close they're twins yes but something has happened to them that has really made them drift apart a lot so it's a very you know scrambled type of family they're all hurting this is a sadder contemporary book so I'd say if we're looking for a happy-go-lucky contemporary book this is not it it's much more you know personal much more saturd much more in depth but I loved it and not nearly enough people talk about it or rave about this awesome has taught me a lot about the Jewish culture as well I don't feel like that's representative enough and why a book so I loved it on all fronts would HIGHLY highly recommend it like this one it's just so underrated stuff it's all girls by clear LeGrande I did hear a lot about this book especially I heard about we're talking about it for being anticipated for last year a lot of people put it on their list as like most anticipated fall releases but I didn't see a ton of people read it and rave about it I've seen a few people this one might be kind of not underrated because I have seen a few people read it but not nearly enough people in my opinion that's why I'm putting this on this list and I just loved it so much I was not expecting to love this book but I loved it I gave you five out of five so nobody talks about it this is a Y fantasy book about this island called Sawhill Rock I have a new girl that comes into town and basically these rules go missing every single year it's been happening for decades nobody knows where they've gone nobody knows anything but basically there's like this monster and this new girl coming into town shakes things up and we follow the path of three girls as they try to figure out things and it's just a very hauntingly creepy book I'd say Halloween is the perfect time to read this book because there are some really gory gross scenes in it but I loved it Claire lagron also wrote the fury born series I have learned that people either love fury born or they love Socko gross I've not seen a lot of people like both take for example that I've read fury born I don't really love it that much but I love Saco girls I've seen friends talk about loving me reborn but they did not like Saco girl so it's very you know everything's you know you're an opinion everything has their heads and flows but I love this one I don't think a ton of people have read it and I think it needs to change because it was so friggin good and it's a standalone I love a good Y fantasy stay alone any day next up is another why catch every boat the Menace Emmy and Oliver by Robyn then wait this is kind of an older one it came out a few years ago and I read it a couple years ago and I fell in love with it I think a lot of people when I think of Robin Emily they think far from the tree which is an amazing book but I also love Emmy and Oliver Emmy and Oliver is about a character named Emmy whose best friend is Oliver who lives right next door to her but Oliver is kidnapped by his father when he is very very young and basically the book picks up when Emmy is seventeen and Oliver has been founded he is finally coming home and it's him trying to adjust to his life back home because he was kidnapped by his dad but he didn't know any different he had a normal life wherever he lived he just thought he was living with his dad forever and wouldn't have contact with his mom so he is a media sensation and he doesn't understand why so he's just trying to get familiar with being back home to being with his mom and his two brothers that he never even knew existed because his mom has remarried and had two other sons since and it's just a very quiet type of contemporary book those are some of my favorite contemporary books to read and because of that I don't think it nearly enough love here on booktube because I think a lot of contemporaries with love and lovey-dovey and cuteness get a lot of attention but not nearly the quiet more character-driven type of books but I love them and I think this one is hands-down amazing one of my favorite white contemporaries a long time and I would say if you loved Robin Bevan weighs far from the tree definitely read that me and Oliver I loved it nobody I've heard barely anybody talking about I mean Oliver highly highly recommended and the next three books one talked about are also quieter why contemporary books that's just you're getting my taste here a little do me know by tomorrow Ireland's show this came out last year I read it last year fell in love with it this is about two characters that are also neighbors and they're best friends and something you know life has happened and they're like not best friends anymore we follow both their points of views one of the characters dad is a pastor and she's really well with the church and things like that but she's learning maybe that's not the life she wants to go down and she's kind of opened her eyes to things and the other character lived with her single mom and her mom's remarrying and she's really having a hard time grasping that and it's basically about these two girls that have been best friends like sisters for their lives and not being that anymore and trying to learn if they can be that it's a beautiful quiet very very quiet type of contemporary book words all about these characters and character driven I love it I maybe have heard one other person talk about this book it needs to be read more I loved it a great summer spring read for sure in last why contemporary book I put last because I don't know if it's super underrated I put it there and slightly underrated matte is a heart and the body of the world by Deb Coletti this came out last year I read it this year finally I who what impactful an intense book about a character named Annabelle who lives in Washington State and something has happened in her life he was a reader do not know that you figure it out along the book and she decides to run from Washington all the way from Washington DC so across the country pretty much and she's running for a Cause she wants to make a change and basically her grandfather follows her in the RV and it becomes she's like her brother and her friends being like her PR team and it's just a beautiful book a beautifully heartbreaking book about a lot of really important topics I don't want to spoil it for you but I have heard a few people talk about this book I'm not gonna lie to you but I feel like I need to be talked about more it's definitely impactful why books that I think everyone should read everyone will get something from this and the writing is just so stunning and honestly so I put it up there it's kind of underrated maybe not but I classified is that I just want more people to read this basically moving on to my five adult underrated books the first one being the simple wat by Kay Tucker this is a new adult adult romance this one I have heard if you can we'll talk about but I want more people to read it because I loved it so much I have read kay Tucker books in the past but this one easily is my favorite by her this takes place in the state of Alaska we fought character whose father is dying she decides to go to Alaska be with him either with him her dad owns like this charter pilot company and she meets a guy and very rugged tough guy you know man's man and they have a hate to love relationship Oh within the heart of Alaska oh it is so so good steam eNOS Alaska I love both set in Alaska and wilderness and go fool like story about a girl it's very superficial at the beginning but at the end you see her blossom become more than superficial I love this book so much I'd say I need more romance people who read this books it was so good and I would say like slightly underrated but still underrated enough to talk about it stop is jung-jae young by Gabrielle seven I read this book last year on a win and loved it I've heard no but touch it this is about a character named Avia who is a congressional intern in Florida and she has an affair with the congressman she works for and when the affair comes to light guess who gets in trouble for it not the congressman but her rather so she has to move away and kind of assume a new identity and it follows this folks very interesting because it follows a whole bunch of different point of views you hear the point of view from a pious mother you hear the plenty of view from the God Chrisman's wife your the point of view from other characters it's just beautifully told it's a funnier tape of book but has a serious tone because of the affair than political nested so much one of my favorite books of all time honestly so I would highly recommend it no one talks in this book it needs to be read it was funny but yet intense if that makes any sense at all next up is a thriller and that is watching you by Lisa Jewell I read this last year again and I wrote on a whim I've never read at least joke book before which I don't know if she's underrated as far as like sales I think her books are doing very well but I don't hear a lot about her own book - this book is a mystery solar but I would say a light mr. Thaler it's more on expansion on characters and getting into their psyche and things like that we had this neighborhood in Britain I believe and basically this there's this murder that has happened pretty much it gives me that big little lies feeling you don't know who's done it and you don't know like who's dead either so you're trying to figure it out but you're also following a whole group of people so a lot of times you'll forget about the murder because you're so interested in the people around this neighborhood about everybody just watching each other and that's all I can tell you about it because it isn't because it is a mystery other but it's not I don't your a ton of people talking about it but I loved it definitely one my favorite mister thrillers and that surprised me to say because I am so insanely picky and like really harsh on mr. Etheridge for some reason but I don't hear this one talked about enough and I loved it okay here's one that is very kind of out of the park for underage so just just go with me here that is the great alarm by Kristen Hanna you're like Kristen Hanna she's not underrated everybody talks about Christina yes but they talk about the nightingale by Kristen Hanna or so when you think of Christmas Ana you think of the night ago my favorite book was like a long time and of last year I don't hear like anybody talk about the grade alone the great alone came out last year and I read it last year and I loved it not as much as the Nightingale I'll say that but I still loved it but I think everybody thinks of the nightingale when they think of Chris and Hanna just like when everyone think was tailed rickets read what do you think of the seven husbands of Elihu though you kind of forget about our other books but the grand alone by Kristen Hanna is amazing and definitely needs to be talked about this book is also set in Alaska this book kind of set me up for my love of books set in Alaska we had the year is 1974 we follow a family of three a mother father and a daughter they moved to Alaska because they're not doing so well and Alaska is very brutal at least this part of Alaska where they're moving to like winter is nine months out of the year it's dark a lot of times but it's dark so dark that you maybe get an hour of sunlight a day sometimes so depression happens a lot the father goes through with alcoholism with depression with PTSD with a lot of really scary and intense things it's basically about surviving in Alaska and a very harsh climate but also realizing that they're surviving their own home because it's just a scary inside as it is outside in the real world in Alaska so I loved it very intense very beautifully sad well Chris and Hannah is don't for that but I think it's underrated for the strict fact of when you think of Kristen and I think of the nightingale she wrote more books she's written far more and this one trust me she's written like 20 other ones I've yet to read them all but I love the great alone and it definitely needs to be talked about more a book I want to share with you that I think is underrated is the immortal espaço a Benjamin again I read this last year really enjoyed it this is a perfect book club book in my opinion because it's so many you can discuss so many things in this book basically in this book it starts off with the year of 1969 we have these three siblings that learn that there's like a fortune-teller or something like that in their neighborhood and this woman can predict the date of your deaths they decide to go to this woman to figure out the date of their death and it's basically about their life after that of how this one woman has set the trajectory of each individual life for these kids so we follow each of their kids according to like their death date and figuring out like is it really fate that they were supposed to die that day or B is it because the woman told them that they would that they've always had it in the back of their mind it's just a really discussion type of base book to my opinion like I still think about this book a ton it's not one of my favorite books either but I still think about it constantly because it's just the whole thing of life was it fate wasn't meant to be did this woman make this up out of the back of her head or was she like accurate or you know destiny is it destiny so many questions you can think of while reading this book because you're like did these characters just accept this fate blindly and let this woman decide their death date they could have done much later maybe or much earlier and who's to say so I really enjoyed it for that regard and I've heard not alot he will talk about it here in booktube so well I highly recommend it especially reading with people I think is the way to go with this because you're gonna have so many varying opinions trust me and all the characters in this are just not the best like I don't remember liking anybody but there's so interesting the fact of the death of the date and how it affected them and all their decisions honestly so yeah underrated would recommend so there you have those are all my other graded books I hope you guys enjoyed and maybe you agree with me that some of these are underrated and maybe you don't that's okay too do you hear some of your favorite underrated books books or some books you might see here more on booktube that don't get enough tension or requisition let me know I would love to hear because underrated books are always a gem to read there's some of my favorites I love just going to my shelf and picking up a random book that nala people were talking about it and maybe falling in love a lot of these books are just that so I would love to hear your opinions and I hope you enjoyed this video byelet's talk about some underrated books here on booktube hello everyone today I am here to share with you some of my favorite underrated books so I've done this video before and I will always do it because I love talking about underrated books and basically Etheridge for some reason but I don't hear this one talked about enough and I loved it okay here's one that is very kind of out of the park for underage so just just go with me here that is the great alarm by Kristen Hanna you're like Kristen Hanna she's not underrated everybody talks about Christina yes but they talk about the nightingale by Kristen Hanna or so when you think of Christmas Ana you think of the night ago my favorite book was like a long time and of last year I don't hear like anybody talk about the grade alone the great alone came out last year and I read it last year and I loved it not as much as the Nightingale I'll say that but I still loved it but I think everybody thinks of the nightingale when they think of Chris and Hanna just like when everyone think was tailed rickets read what do you think of the seven husbands of Elihu though you kind of forget about our other books but the grand alone by Kristen Hanna is amazing and definitely needs to be talked about this book is also set in Alaska this book kind of set me up for my love of books set in Alaska we had the year is 1974 we follow a family of three a mother father and a daughter they moved to Alaska because they're not doing so well and Alaska is very brutal at least this part of Alaska where they're moving to like winter is nine months out of the year it's dark a lot of times but it's dark so dark that you maybe get an hour of sunlight a day sometimes so depression happens a lot the father goes through with alcoholism with depression with PTSD with a lot of really scary and intense things it's basically about surviving in Alaska and a very harsh climate but also realizing that they're surviving their own home because it's just a scary inside as it is outside in the real world in Alaska so I loved it very intense very beautifully sad well Chris and Hannah is don't for that but I think it's underrated for the strict fact of when you think of Kristen and I think of the nightingale she wrote more books she's written far more and this one trust me she's written like 20 other ones I've yet to read them all but I love the great alone and it definitely needs to be talked about more a book I want to share with you that I think is underrated is the immortal espaço a Benjamin again I read this last year really enjoyed it this is a perfect book club book in my opinion because it's so many you can discuss so many things in this book basically in this book it starts off with the year of 1969 we have these three siblings that learn that there's like a fortune-teller or something like that in their neighborhood and this woman can predict the date of your deaths they decide to go to this woman to figure out the date of their death and it's basically about their life after that of how this one woman has set the trajectory of each individual life for these kids so we follow each of their kids according to like their death date and figuring out like is it really fate that they were supposed to die that day or B is it because the woman told them that they would that they've always had it in the back of their mind it's just a really discussion type of base book to my opinion like I still think about this book a ton it's not one of my favorite books either but I still think about it constantly because it's just the whole thing of life was it fate wasn't meant to be did this woman make this up out of the back of her head or was she like accurate or you know destiny is it destiny so many questions you can think of while reading this book because you're like did these characters just accept this fate blindly and let this woman decide their death date they could have done much later maybe or much earlier and who's to say so I really enjoyed it for that regard and I've heard not alot he will talk about it here in booktube so well I highly recommend it especially reading with people I think is the way to go with this because you're gonna have so many varying opinions trust me and all the characters in this are just not the best like I don't remember liking anybody but there's so interesting the fact of the death of the date and how it affected them and all their decisions honestly so yeah underrated would recommend so there you have those are all my other graded books I hope you guys enjoyed and maybe you agree with me that some of these are underrated and maybe you don't that's okay too do you hear some of your favorite underrated books books or some books you might see here more on booktube that don't get enough tension or requisition let me know I would love to hear because underrated books are always a gem to read there's some of my favorites I love just going to my shelf and picking up a random book that nala people were talking about it and maybe falling in love a lot of these books are just that so I would love to hear your opinions and I hope you enjoyed this video bye\n"
